Getting back on topic, there's been some interesting stuff released recently.
A New Generation Concept Art release
Scar himself looks like foreign, weak, and with very female moves. Please keep discussions on this thread to MLP gen 5. Let's not create another page of derails.
Macron's notes4 and a half minute preview of Make Your Mark.
On that subject, has the title of the upcoming series been stated yet? I was thinking that we should probably move the character sheet to the new series' page eventually, but that would obviously require knowing what that is.

"Make Your Mark" is the upcoming series and apparently the main one of G5 (which is the overall series encompassing A New Generation, Tell Your Tale and the upcoming comics and other works).
So do we want the character page under "Make Your Mark" or "G5"? G4 lists them under "Friendship Magic" because it was made before anyone expected it would get so many spin-offs. But since G5's multiple series is happening right out of the gate and they're more connected with earth other (EG was canon, the comics/books semi, but had no bearing on FIM's continuity hence it's characters being listed separately) I'd say it makes more sense for the character page to be under the G5 namespace.
I've said before G5 needs it's own page given how many separate works fall under it (4+ by the end of this month). This seems like a good time to do that.
Speaking of G5 characters, it looks like Posey Bloom is going to have a important role in the special this month. Them being an Expy to G1 Posey already gave them above average prominence. What is the protocol/point for deciding if a background pony warrants being added to the character pages? And/or is that a question for the G4 thread for how they handled that?
Animation is a little funky but I'm interested to see where this goes. I wonder if those rain clouds are actually snow storms, perhaps the Windigos?
Scar himself looks like foreign, weak, and with very female moves.I thought they got banished for good in the series finale.
Pinkie Pie and flugelhorns are a bad combination. That was not really clear in the finale, but I think word of god is that they are? It remains to be seen.
Man, it's incredible just how many shows we are getting all at once. This generation succeeding sure won't be for lack of trying, though it runs the risk of overdoing it when the audience is not quite there for it yet. A disappointing start from overambitious expectations will not do the series any good.
Optimism is a duty. That's not actually a bad idea at all. I might try drafting something when I have a bit of free time.
Generally, the protocol for adding characters to pages is to wait until there's a bare minimum of tropes for them (three seems to be the cutoff, I prefer at least five myself) and then add them where appropriate if/when they do.
In this case, I would wait until there's enough material on this character to actually trope them and then add a folder in the section of whichever town/pony type they fall under.

With that, here's Sandbox. My Little Pony Generation 5. It's in progress so anyone who wants to chip in is welcome. (https://g5mlp.fandom.com/wiki/Books has more to add than I could on short notice.)
I'm giving the IDW comics, coming in a few days, the namespace My Little Pony (2022) as it's what they did for Transformers (2019) and what the wiki put it under. Any objections or other names?

^Is G5 actually an example of Shifted to CGI? G4's shows were animated using Flash, and I'm fairly certain that G3's weren't hand-drawn either.
It's definitely the first gen to use 3D animation, but that may be better covered by Art-Shifted Sequel.
@Castleton Snob, thank you for the link! It's my first glimpse of the main series.
I really like what MyM is going for, but it's distracting that Sunny looks like she has a bad spraytan.

How is the special?
Oh shit that's out now.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Yeah, I still need to catch up on those shorts too.
Optimism is a duty.Tell Your Tale - Maritime Bay 2.0
Speaking of shorts.
Scar himself looks like foreign, weak, and with very female moves.Watched it earlier today. Movie was better. This was way too rushed and resolved way too easily. Hopefully the actual show will be better when it drops in a few months.

Yeah, it kind of felt like it was more concerned with setting the stage for the show than telling its own story.
Here's early design concepts for the cast in Tell Your Tale. Thoughts about how it compares to the final product?
Why do the movie and special feel like glorified pilots?
They kinda are
SoundCloudYeah. They're basically just there to say "Hey, here are these new characters and how they act and what the story is."
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.
In the United States, we learn the myth of John Henry in, like, third grade. They tell us exactly what it means: people beating machines with grit. This is basic, obvious symbolism for an American TV show.
Also, "agrarian" is an adjective that means "related to farming". I have no idea where people are getting "anarcho-" from that.
