has it been discussed yet if Asperger Syndrome should be merged with Autism? it's been a decade since the diagnosis was merged and since then there's been greater support for just calling it autism than the page implies, especially since asperger's research itself has been viewed with greater scrutiny
i saw after backreading a bit that there's been some minor discussion about it and most people seem to be in favor of a merge, but it doesn't seem like there's been a definite decision on what to do. would it have to go through TRS or something?

^^ That's fine.
^ I don't think that's something that needs to go to TRS but it would be nice if thread got more traffic. Not sure if we need to rewrite anything on UsefulNotes.Autism though.

Macron's notesmaybe a smaller section transferring some information over from the aspergers page and explaining how it's gone from a separate diagnosis to being seen as part of the greater spectrum. generally the autism page is written more like an analysis/clinical description and the aspergers page is written more like a personal essay, so there's not really much compatible between the two
There was a TRS about it actually. Seems a merge was voted on, but never done.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallMuch of the information was copied over to UsefulNotes.Autism Spectrum, but UsefulNotes.Asperger Syndrome is still up at the moment.
Be kind.I would like to highlight that Boris Johnson was restored on 1 July by James Austin?
I am aware the page was previously cut hence I’m not sure if this was unilateral or not.

"The only thing which is certain, is that something will happen".it was discussed, they made a sandbox to fix the issues it had initially and got some feedback on it before they restored it
The Arctic has a giant "see also" index and I think it's unnecessarily bloated. It's just UsefulNotes.Canada, UsefulNotes.Europe and UsefulNotes.Russia unwrapped regardless if applicable (and USA as well), and "The Scream" Parody, Sauna of Death, The Quisling, Barbarian Tribe have nothing to do with the Arctic.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupBack in December 2020, the description for UsefulNotes.Augusto Pinochet was edited by what seems to be an apologist for his regime, and hasn't been touched much since. Is it fine to revert?
UsefulNotes.Pinocchio Actors... what exactly is "useful" here?
SoundCloudIDK, why single out that one when there's an entire index of Franchise Actors?
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWell, I told them to bring it here in the Observations thread before I realized there was a whole index. Someone over there asked if the Franchise Actors indexes should go through TRS again—I'd be open to it myself, but I want to know what everyone else thinks.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallPersonally, I'd be down for the TRS approach.
I've never once been able to see how franchise actors counted as "useful" notes.
SoundCloud^ x 5 - Yes, I'd say anything that leans too far into apologetics can be culled.
Agreed. Noting here that deadfantasyv was responsible.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI was told to come here after posting an ATT query on the subject.
I'm interested in writing a new Useful Notes page, well aware that it's not something that should be done frivolously (as I myself addressed in that query), but I'm confident that discussing its subject will be useful and relevant for the understanding of fiction and popular culture. It's something that has been portrayed in many different ways in media, with varying degrees of accuracy and realism, and with this UN page I'm offering a brief coverage of its fundamental principles in real life and then examine whether its most frequent types of despiction in popular culture are plausible or not. It's about energy.
Things like how heat behaves (leading to stereotypes like Convection, Schmonvection), the portrayal of light and electricity, gravity (this one often leading to Artistic License – Space), and so on. To clarify, I don't think it's ideal to cover every single instance because that'd make the article unnecessarily long. Instead, it aims to be a concise, general approach on energy as it acts in real life and then explain its most significant portrayals in fiction to judge where accuracy succeeds and where it fails (hence the "most frequent types of despiction in popular culture" part from the above paragraph).
I noticed that many tropes related to Artistic License – Physics, Artistic License – Space and Artistic License – Chemistry provide a brief explanation on why those artistic licenses do not work in real life, but so far there's no article that connects those individual cases, so I thought a UN page on energy would help readers and tropers alike have a more global understanding on them.
So my question is, do I have permission to work on such a page and launch it? If the answer is yes, I'll make sure to work on it via a sandbox (namely mine, if that's okay) first.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.
135 - 158 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300If you know what you're doing, then that sounds fine.
Victor of HGS S320 | "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember."I have a good knowledge on the subject (I have a physics degree ), so rest assured that the execution won't be a problem.
Anyone with a second opinion?
135 - 158 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300I think you can try it, if you're convinced it'll be helpful.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Got it, thanks. I guarantee you guys it will be a worthy addition to the wiki.
I'll begin working on it via sandbox tomorrow.
135 - 158 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Joe Biden: "Tropes associated with Joe Biden in media and portrayals in fiction"
I can understand "Joe Biden portrayals in fiction", why would we ever allow "Joe Biden in media" troping? And the list mostly isn't about either, it tropes him as a person.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupFor compliance with our policies, anything that tropes Biden — or any other politician — as a person should be nuked.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Let me actually review this...
- Big "SHUT UP!": Not fictional, cut.
- Book Ends: Not fictional + misuse, cut.
- Boring, but Practical: Not fictional + ZCE + The mentioned The Onion is not the actual example source, cut.
- Butt-Monkey: If it's within The Onion, it's fine, but "as his" is both a typo and word cruft.
- Canine Companion: Not fictional, cut.
- Catchphrase: All are not fictional, cut.
- Cool Car: "Biden is a known car enthusiast (his father managed a dealership), and several of his appearances in media have him accompained by a nice ride. Biden owns a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette convertible that he has had since it was brand new (it was given to him as a gift for his first wedding)." are non-fictional, as well as the last example. Everything else is fine.
- Cool Old Guy: Not fictional, cut.
- Cool Shades: Not fictional, cut.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Everything after the first sentence needs to go.
- Deadpan Snarker: Not fictional, cut.
- A Father to His Men: Not fictional + Natter, cut.
- Female Feline, Male Mutt: Not fictional, cut.
- Handicapped Badass: Not fictional, cut.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: Everything after " was a very popular meme during their time in office together" needs to go.
- Insult Backfire: Not fictional, cut.
- Intergenerational Friendship: Not fictional, cut.
- The Load: The "In reality," sentence needs to go away.
- Memetic Badass: The second example is not fictional.
- Memetic Troll: May be fine.
- Older Sidekick: Doesn't indicate clearly if it's fictiona, cutl.
- Precision F-Strike: Not fictional, cut.
- Rail Enthusiast: Everything except "comedic portrayals of him parody this into a childish enthusiasm for the choo-choos" need to go.
- Salt and Pepper: Not fictional, cut.
- "Sesame Street" Cred: It's fine.
- Speech Impediment: Not fictional, cut.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Everything after the first sentence needs to go.
- Verbal Tic: Not fictional, cut.
- Violently Protective Girlfriend: Not fictional, cut.
- We Used to Be Friends: Not fictional, cut.
Looking at this, there seems to be some confusion over the section header labeled "portrayal in media and fiction". The "in media" part should not be taken to mean "news media". In other words, we don't record trope examples from things that appear in news programs and other non-fiction material. At a minimum it should read "creative media", but I'd prefer if that wording were removed entirely.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
At Kievan Rus', "the first reliable historical records are from the ninth century." is written twice. Is it okay if I ask the Edit Locked to remove the second one and merge paragraphs?
