The Phoenix, returning and reviving anew

Hello! I found out about this from a friend and I'd like to join!

  • Name: Remilia Scarlet, "the Scarlet Devil"
  • Franchise: Touhou
  • Age: somewhere around and above 500
  • Race: Vampire
  • Appearance: The Scarlet Devil
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Class: Vampire (if not custom, a friend recommended some cross between Brawler and Sorcerer)
  • Personality: Childish as well as having the air of an arrogant aristocrat, though she ultimately does not seek to harm others intentionally. Is documented going along with tricks just because she was bored. She's a self described light eater, and as such her vampiric feeding doesn't tend to cause major harm or death.
  • Skills: Deceptively observant, though she hides it exceedingly well.
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Blood magic/vampiric/demonic powers
    • Can transform into a bat yet keeps wings in human form
    • Has undefined ability over fate (this is left ambiguous in the series, like anyone's in Touhou, taken to the extreme in its ambiguity would be overkill, though in practice she can likely at least read tendencies of a timeline like really hazy prophecies depending on which actions she takes. Full power over fate would be overkill. Most of the Touhou characters are describing themselves unreliably when they quantify their abilities anyhow, doubly so for a childish, arrogant aristocrat).
    • Fast healing, with incredible strength and speed from vampiric abilities.
  • Equipment:
    • Summonable spear, "Gungnir"
    • Parasol for daytime
  • Additional Notes:
    • Weaknesses: Most things that would harm typical vampires or demons would work against her. She's worked alongside holy magic though as well as possibly using some in some of her spellcards, and has talking about eating stuff made in holy water before, as well as a lot of her imagery uses crosses. As such, any holy stuff would probably have to be directly used against her as opposed to a damaging aura. But typical vampiric weaknesses still apply, including sunlight weakening her, a hatred of garlic, and being stopped by flowing water.
    • Has a mansion with helpers and a wild, destructive younger sister who doesn't know the extent of her power (See Scarlet Devil Mansion & Flandre Scarlet).
    • Infamous in Gensokyo for the Vampire Incident, where she led a youkai uprising, and the Scarlet Mist Incident, where she spread miasmatic mists to be able to walk in the day (though she often uses a parasol in the daytime anyway)

She's really kind of an glass cannon when combining both powers and weaknesses of vampires and possibly OP so I can scale that or whatever. I'd base her moveset on that in the fighting game Touhou 12.3 as well as possibly her mist as a final boss in Touhou 6 though if that works! But yeah I recognize as a character some stuff is overkill and may need scaling >_>

Alrighty then, our first toohoo girl. This should be interesting.

On the whole, the signup seems good, though there are still a couple of points that need addressing. "Blood magic/vampiric/demonic powers" seems a bit too vague, especially considering this character has a powerset that by your own admission requires nerfing. If you can, please try and insert summaries of the powers mentioned in the wiki- I'm seeing mentions of aura and bat bullets for instance -and please keep in mind that bullet hell boss attacks like hers would have to be, at best, incredibly situational.

Other than that, anything else you'd like to add in terms of Background? The mentions of a home and some past events are nice, but I'll need more detail than a "see also" for her mansion and sister. Plus, if you can, try to fill me in on the land she comes from, and what drove her to go out journeying to the point where she joined the current story.

Sorry for the delay in responding! Midterms are happening in my university and though I only have two classes, that resulted in two papers to write. Anyhow...

I wasn't sure if the application was getting too long, but I can build on all of that here.

Attacking and Powerset

Yeah, anything that gets on the scale of high-level danmaku would be problematic in game, so I'll just describe how her attacks generally work in the games mentioned. Higher powered attacks are generally limit breaks or desperation attacks of the same form.

  • Remilia primarily attacks in melee by clawing and kicking. In the fighting games, she is primarily a melee fighter, so much of her basic attack strength would be here. Some attacks can send an opponent flying backward with just a swipe.
  • She can also fly and flash step, which may be combined with these attacks.
  • For ranged attacks, she can send out bullets of blood and wisps of demon fire.
  • Remilia can summon red shapes from magic auras that form bats, chains, spears, and crosses, among other things. Her mists are a very overcharged and spread-out version of this, and her signature spear Gungnir is a powerfully thrown version.
  • She's still an old and powerful vampire with lots of strength, regeneration, and bloodsucking abilities that are offset by vampiric weaknesses.
    • Turning into a bat (sometimes bats, though there's a primary one in game) allows for evasion of attacks that could clear a screen.

Probably some method of power scaling of any of these basically covers her.

Background

Though originally of a vaguely European origin, Remilia, her sister, and her staff now live in Gensokyo, which is a Fantastic Nature Reserve formed since youkai and other monsters are creatures of superstition and myth, and as such the increasing lack of it in a world with modern science has limited them to a land where their myths and belief in them are still real. Gensokyo is separated from the rest of Earth by a "boundary of logic" that in effect tends to make it so that no matter how far one walks into the barrier, they don't get farther into or out of the side they are on. That said, there is a main entrance and exit at the Hakurei Shrine, as well as cracks in the barrier, not to mention one of the builders of the barrier who can effectively open portals by combining the boundaries between places (among other powers which are truly broken).

As Remilia has been known to get bored and do things for the whimsy of it, she may just want to go on an adventure. She also has worked to resolve the incidents that tend to happen in Gensokyo and upset its balance, even though she has caused some herself, so some sense of restoring sense to the world may drive her too.

She'd also be protective of her staff who she likely considers family. She has a collection of fairy maids, but her main staff members or other live-in friends are:

  • Hong Meiling, the gatekeeper of the mansion. She's a Chinese youkai who is skilled in martial arts and can read and direct Qi.
  • Patchouli Knowledge, a magician who has attained immortality and maintains the magic library in the mansion. She's skilled with using magic consisting of or combining the 5 Chinese elements as well as aspects of the sun and moon.
  • Sakuya Izayoi, the human head maid with a mysterious past. She's fond of knives and can stop time yes her powers are a reference. It's theorized she was a monster hunter who Remilia defeated and adopted as staff and a friend at some undetermined point in the past, but again, but her origins are still a mystery.

  • Not a staff member but instead family, she'd definitely be protective of her younger and also vampiric sister, Flandre Scarlet, but it's more likely that people would need protection *from* her sister, whose powers are a magical form of Shatterpoint Tap against any object or being, and who doesn't quite understand her powers, especially with being basically kept under house arrest by Remilia and her staff due to the danger she could cause.

Don't worry, slight delays are understandable. Real Life comes first in all things.

@Attacking and Powerset: Everything seems to be in order. Let's say that she'll be fine in combat with regular opponents, but could exhausted from using her higher-end powers, at least outside of her home turf.

@Background: The basic details are good, but keep in mind that this game isn't set on Earth. The world of Foteinigi may have parallels to different nations (Onogoroshima=Japan, Mount Penglai=China) but is loosely based on the The Low Middle Ages, at the dawn of Jidaigeki, and absolutely not a time when science would be eclipsing magic. With that said, Gensokyo could very well still exist, but it would likely have to operate under slightly different rules given the new context. Do you feel you can account for that?

I can work with that! Just wanted to relate some of her surroundings as well, to better fit her into this world.

There's a lower grade barrier or enchantment before the one that separated Gensokyo from outside, and this barrier tends to attract youkai (originally just to get them there in the first place). That barrier could still be there maybe and be an enchantment or blessing or curse (which might as well just be flip sides of the same coin) of some sort on the land that just tends to gather monster/youkai people? If it's possible to relocate Gensokyo into the world, having it hidden somewhere in or around mountains in Onogoroshima is possible as it's mainly Japanese monsters, but a land like this seems easy to place anywhere with creatures of all sorts too. Some level of Hidden Elf Village and Fantastic Nature Reserve would likely come into play, though there's a village of humans within there too. Just a lot more monster people. If there's suspicion against monsterous people in the world like some of the lore states, there's still a compelling reason for its construction.

Remilia and her household could be recent immigrants to it if it's far from more European-centric places, seeing a new land full of monster people and magic and her looking at it out of a sense of excitement and curiosity of sorts, or if it's not far, she might as well be there already to escape suspicions. As for why she's gone again, I could see boredom and then wanderlust to excise the boredom, or something's too off for standing by idly, and she's out to resolve it, or of course there's always situations that could involve her household too.

As it happens, I was already working on a signup before you asked! I've gone over some aspects with Liz, though perhaps some other aspects will need tweaking. I won't be available to post right away even if she's accepted, but I suppose that's well enough, since we'd have to figure out where to introduce her anyway.

  • Name: C.C. (pronounced "C2")
  • Franchise: Code Geass
  • Age: Several Centuries
  • Race: Human
  • Appearance: Do you know why snow is white? Because it's forgotten what color it is. (Not pictured: laced walking boots of sturdy brown leather)
  • Alignment: True Neutral
  • Class: Fighter

  • Personality: Her individual experiences as an immortal have led C.C. to become a detached and isolated individual, with little care for even those she has entered into “contracts” with. She feels she has been alive so long that she can no longer remember who loved her and who hated her, as (almost) everyone she ever knew has disappeared into the flow of time. Due to her nature and history, she has been lonely as long as she can remember. She greatly dislikes pain and suffering, so in spite of her immortality, she will not recklessly exploit her nature or sacrifice herself merely for the sake of harming an enemy, but rather in desperate situations where an innocent or close ally would be hurt.

C.C. is willful almost to a fault, usually doing whatever she wants regardless of whether or not it inconveniences others, particularly anyone she enjoys toying with (that is to say, most people). She is often haughty, imperious, and condescending to those younger than her. For those she has "contracted" with, she is both accomplice and close confidant, observing them carefully, acting as a sounding-board for their ideas, and offering blunt wisdom whenever she thinks they are going about something the wrong way. C.C. also has a somewhat obsessive penchant for pizza.

  • Skills: A pizza gourmet and connoisseur of other fine things; possessed of extensive battlefield combat, first aid, horse-riding, and wilderness survival experience, and has some minor talent for leading small groups; proficient in fighting with a wide variety of weapons, though she favors the sword, of which she is a true master; also a master of several styles of hand-to-hand martial arts; has made a point of learning the language and the customs of every nation she has ever visited, which is many; and impressive skill in several styles of painting.

  • Powers and Abilities:
  • Code: Marked by the red bird-shaped sigil that stretches across her forehead, the Code is the end “goal” of the Geass system (insofar as there is a goal), in that it grants immortality and psychic power as specified below in exchange for losing one’s Geass. There are only two known Codes, and the only way to obtain a Code is for a Geass user of sufficient power to be given it from - or take it by force from - an existing Code owner, the latter then losing all their powers and becoming perfectly mortal again. Geass is a power which acts upon the minds of individuals, whereas Code is a power linked directly to Foteinigi's Collective Unconscious (which C.C. refers to as “the Gods” or the “World of C”). Hence, whereas C.C. calls Geass “The Power of Kings”, she calls Code “The Power of the Gods”. Applications of the Code’s power include:
    • Geass “Contract”: C.C. can offer beings a “contract” (with specific GM and player permission) via telepathic contact (initiated by means elaborated on below), which grants them a power called Geass in exchange for agreeing to eventually fulfill C.C.’s “one wish”. Geass is a power that varies by individual based upon their deepest desire, but it is always narrowly defined, related to the mind, and carries with it major limitations or drawbacks. For example, a mind-reader who overuses his Geass will eventually find himself unable to turn his power off and be forced to read the thoughts of everyone within a wide radius as if they were talking directly into his ear. Nothing actually happens to the Geass user if they fail to follow through on their end of the deal, so calling it a “contract” is just C.C.’s way of creating the illusion of obligation on their part. Due to the mountains of misery and regret it has brought her in the past, she would never forge a contract with another individual unless she felt certain that they would not use their new power for evil and were an especially promising candidate to fulfill her wish, or there was no other option to prevent the imminent death of an innocent.
      • Note: the Code also renders C.C. immune to Geass powers.
    • Immortality: In short, C.C. does not age. In longer terms, she has been shot fatally a number of times, burned at the stake, subjected to the guillotine, placed in an iron maiden, stabbed by spears, etc. all of which she regenerated from. She can be temporarily incapacitated as easily as any normal individual by injuries to (for example) her kneecaps, however. Due to the fact that the Code granting her immortality is located on her forehead, she presumably regenerates starting from the head down. If she is physically blocked from regenerating by a foreign object, she will not regenerate until said object is out of the way, but neither will anything still attached to her head in any way naturally degrade.
    • Telepathy: While in physical contact with another individual, C.C. can communicate with them in a two-way telepathic link. This is also the means by which she is able to gift people with Geass through her “contracts”. An individual whom she has granted Geass to does not require contact, because the two already share a sort of basic psychic bond. By that same token, she constantly knows the location of her contractees relative to her own position, whether they are alive, and whenever something unusual happens to their Geass, unless they are deliberately concealing such things from her.
      • By standing utterly still and concentrating while in physical contact with another, she can exchange memories with or enter the mind of that individual (or allow them into her own). This could include memories from dead people or sentient beings in general as a result of brushing against the Collective Unconscious. Moreover, she can attack someone this way by overwhelming them with painful or horrifying memories. Being physically interrupted via touch of another person may accidentally create a brief multi-person linkage in which all parties begin to experience one another’s memories while connected, herself included.

  • Equipment:
    • Armor (breastplate and pauldrons, complete with cape!)
    • A simple but enchanted steel longsword, magically durable and ever-sharp. The enchantment is housed in a large, circular ruby in the middle of the hilt.
    • Her journals, inkwells and quills.
    • A healthy, pretty white mare suitable for riding.
    • Enough food and water to sustain herself and her horse for a week.
    • Flint.
    • 300 Atlantean drachmae, as well as an assortment of coins in various other currencies both common and rare from across time and around the world that she keeps as mementos.

  • Background: C.C. was born in what is now Gaul several centuries ago, and with a name that was most definitely not “C.C.”. Along the way to the present day, she lived as a slave for at least the first several years of her life, was abandoned to die due to being clumsy, gained a Geass, lost the Geass in exchange for gaining the Code that rendered her immortal against her will, tried to commit suicide in numerous ways, was hunted down and tortured and murdered in numerous additional ways as retribution for things she had done with her Geass, eventually found her way to Meropis and was briefly happy while being a mover and shaker in the Meropian Revolution (which was followed with squabbling and fracturing between all her friends), and then spiraled into permanent depression and wandered the vast planet, having given up on the future.

She subsequently did a number of things she regrets in a bid to finally die, such as founding a highly secretive cult in Central Meropis based around Code and Geass, giving Geass powers of mind-reading to an orphaned child and raising him for the sole goal of being killed by him once his power developed far enough, and then ditching said orphan as a young man when he went absolutely, completely bonkers at this revelation. At some point she became close friends with the current Atlantean monarch, and then the two went on their separate ways, though they parted on amicable terms.

By that point, she had long since became an adventurer in order to fund her extensive traveling around the world, and ended up forming working relationships with a surprisingly large number of people who were or would later become famous. Over the years, she disguised her immortality by claiming to be each daughter of a long line of adventurers who all looked like exact copies of their mothers, though a precious few very close confidants knew the truth.

  • Additional Notes: I know, I know, modern pizza wasn't invented until the late 19th century. If necessary I can say she likes flatbreads instead, but earlier forms of dishes called pizza did exist in the Middle Ages.

Yay! I have a couple of questions before I try to fix up a signup though...

1. Is it OK if I base my character off of an AU? There's a series I'm really fond of, but the elements in the newest season were... very frustrating for me for a few reasons and I have an AU version of it that I prefer working with for several reasons (Namely they messed up my favorite character and I "corrected" what they did wrong).

2. What's the status of things like card games in the world of the RP? The series I want to use a character from is actually from Cardfight!! Vanguard (V Series), so card games are really important to the backstory, but I understand if I have to figure out a way to minimize the importance of it somehow or even try to ditch it entirely. I was wondering because playing cards seem to exist in DnD, although not to the extent of TCG games, of course.

3. How ridiculous would it be for the idea of a girl being a magical girl in this setting? ^^;

1: I guess that should be alright. You wouldn't be the first to create their character very loosely based on canon, and you certainly wouldn't be the first to aim to do better for your characters than the original writers ever did. Besides, when you get down to it, all the characters here are AU versions anyway.

2: Card games are untapped territory in this setting. Don't feel you have to drop it entirely, since it could make for interesting developments if worked right.

3: One of our characters is from a D&D based show that has a literal magical girl as a major character. I don't think they'd be too out of place.

All righty, let's see if this works, then!

Name: Emi Sendou

Franchise: Cardfight!! Vanguard Extra Story -IF-

Age: 13

Race: Human

Appearance: A young girl with peach-ish hair, blue eyes, a teal cloak, a dark blue shirt, a white skirt, and brown boots (Inspired by this design, just imagine it more fantasy-like)... at least until she taps into her granted powers and transforms... then her clothing notably changes.

Alignment: Neutral Good

Class: Magical Girl... Or Mage, if preferred.

Personality: Emi is a young and sweet girl who watches out for others. She is careful and considerate, although she can be a little reserved at times. She adores cute things, and while she is still new to this mage business, she has a large heart and will fight her hardest. She won't leave anybody in need, and she'll do her best to help out when someone needs a hand.

Skills: Without transforming, Emi can't do much, but she does know a bit about cooking because of her time helping her mother out.

Powers and Abilities: Thanks to her contract with a magical Card Fairy, she can transform into a magical girl mage and fight against enemies by using special cards that depict images of warriors and creatures by "Realizing", or rather summoning, them. Although she cannot do much herself, these creatures can do quite a lot, and are very powerful. However, when she's knocked out, they disappear.

Equipment: When transformed, she has what is called the "Blaster Rod", and it is used to summon the "units" that fight for her.

Background: Emi Sendou was once a normal girl living with her mother, Shizuka, and her brother, Aichi, in a city in (Japan's equivalent). Although her brother was severely bullied, the family seemed to get along well... until one day Aichi disappeared.

Distressed by this, Emi knew she needed to find him. She decided to leave on a journey to seek him out, and it was during this journey she discovered an ominous castle in the middle of the forest. She didn't ever remember seeing this castle, and she just knew her brother was in there. However, no matter how much she tried to get in to see him, he would not let her in...

Distraught, she nearly gave up... but that's when she ran into a young 'Card Fairy' named Shuka. Shuka said that if Emi hunts down mysterious enemies called 'Jammers', then surely Aichi will return home.

Emi, not entirely understanding, but hopeful, desires to know how to defeat these Jammers. Shuka tells her to make a contract with her, and then she'll have the power to defeat the Jammers! Emi agrees, and gains the powers of a mage in order to fight these evil beings and bring her brother back home.

So she has been traveling the world in order to bring her brother home, not understanding what drove her brother to seclude himself in this strange castle known as Sanctuary...

Additional Notes: Emi's cloak was actually her brother's that he left behind on a chilly night. She tried to bring it to him, but she couldn't find him the night he left.

Jammers are, in this AU (for the sake of simplicity), generic monsters of the week that can be sort of arranged however the GM would like. I don't want to make things too difficult because in the canon series this is based on, there was a lot of time travel so I'm trying to edit the time travel out.

Spoilers about Shuka and Aichi in this AU for the RP: Aichi was actually possessed by an evil being called Void that Shuka accidentally released somehow. Aichi was weak-willed but had latent power inside of him, and this led to it possessing him. That's why Shuka knows of the stuff about the Jammers and how to stop them, since she was the one that accidentally released it in the first place and wants to stop them. She wants to use Emi to do so since she's not strong enough through her own power, she needs to channel her power into someone else.

Name: Shuka

Franchise: Cardfight!! Vanguard Extra Story -IF-

Age: 13

Race: Card Fairy

Appearance: A young girl with long red hair, pink eyes, a yellow and orange dress, and red boots... at least until she taps into her contract and transforms... then her clothing notably changes.

Alignment: Neutral Good

Class: Magical Girl... Or Mage, if preferred.

Personality: Shuka is a young and energetic fairy who loves sweets. She's a bit reckless at times, and can be quick to assumptions, but in reality she's a kind girl who wants to do what's right. She loves cards, and is apparently tasked with collecting those that are forgotten by their holders. However, behind her kind face lies a secret... She's not afraid to lie to others if she feels it's necessary.

Skills: Without transforming, Shuka can't do much. She can fly using some special fairy wings that can appear when she desires.

Powers and Abilities: Thanks to her contract with Emi, she can transform into a magical girl mage and fight against enemies by using special cards that depict images of warriors and creatures by "Realizing", or rather summoning, them. Although she cannot do much herself, these creatures can do quite a lot, and are very powerful. However, when she's knocked out, they disappear.

Equipment: Whether she's transformed or detransformed, she has access to a special binder of cards she's collected over the years. These are the cards she and Emi can use to summon.

Background: Shuka is a Card Fairy, a fairy that lives her life collecting cards forgotten by those that no longer want them. Each card supposedly has a soul, a heart, and she keeps these cards as friends. Other than her cards, she lives by herself in a field of flowers.

However, one day... everything changed. She was lured away by a voice, a dark voice that tricked her into unleashing an evil entity. This evil entity left, possessing a certain host...

One Aichi Sendou, a boy with great potential, one that had not only magical potential, but potential with a connection to the cards as well.

Shuka, feeling extreme guilt about this, sought a way to fix this herself, discovering that defeating evil enemies named Jammers will weaken the evil being's hold on Aichi... but that's when she discovered Emi. Keeping her hand in this a secret, she alerted Emi to the Jammers and offered a contract, allowing the two of them to fight together against them after sensing Emi's own magical potential.

Thus, the two fight together against the Jammers and anything else that comes their way.

Additional Notes: Jammers are, in this AU (for the sake of simplicity), generic monsters of the week that can be sort of arranged however the GM would like. I don't want to make things too difficult because in the canon series this is based on, there was a lot of time travel so I'm trying to edit the time travel out.

Shuka has a great collection of cards, although she cannot summon them herself. This is why she needs Emi, who does have the potential to summon them.

Name: Card Fairies

Territories: They live in places where there are many flowers, preferring to be among fields of them, but if you're lucky they can be spotted anywhere there are people, as they are driven to the Cardfight!! Vanguard cards people collect.

Biology: They seem near identical to humans, except their pupils are slits and they have wings they can make appear at will.

Culture: Card Fairies are beings that are greatly attached to Cardfight!! Vanguard cards, and live to collect those that are forgotten and no longer needed by their owners. They do resort to swiping them by bumping into these people, and then disappearing into the air. Usually these cards aren't missed, as they aren't needed by the person they're swiped from.

The cards gathered are put into each Card Fairy's tome, which is bound to them personally. If this tome is damaged or destroyed, it could kill the fairy in question. The fairy can deliberately destroy their tome by levitating it into the air, flying around it, burning it with magic, and releasing all the cards across the world as well, if they feel any need to do so, but the likelihood of this being needed is very slim.

Card Fairies have the ability to feel and communicate with the souls of the cards they gather, seeing them as friends rather than mere cards. They don't appreciate when cards are thrown away, getting defensive and protective of the cards.

In short, their lives revolve around these cards.

Short History: The origin of the Card Fairies isn't known, as they can only be as old as the origin of the cards themselves. Maybe they're kindred spirits of the cards, souls that were not bound to them, and instead live lives outside of card form? This idea is enforced by their fate upon their deaths, in which they become cards themselves that can grant special abilities (Wings and magical girl powers as though they were in a contract) to those that wield them.

Interested in trying this, but wondering if there is still room.

There is. Not much room left, but still some.

The more the merrier, Sir Ijona.

As for you, Crystal Memoria, everything seems to check out. Seeing as Emi here is from a canon alternate universe, I'd say she's got just as legitimate a stake in canon as, say, Tetra. We'll have to figure out the exact specifics of the card powers as we go, but other than that, Accepted.

Hi, heard about this from a friend. I can't join quite yet because of finals, but afterwards (about two weeks) I'm definitely interested. I would want to join with either Bardock from Dragon Ball Z, or Hit or Jiren from Dragon Ball Super. I'm leaning towards Jiren, though.

Eh, you'd probably have to nerf them, like we had to do to bring in Ahzek Ahriman, Jibril, and (to a lesser extent) Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost. After all, we can't have God-Moders, can we?

Ultimately, it IS up to Liz... I'm just trying to give some friendly advice.

As discussed via P Ms, I'll be open to DBZ characters as long as their power is placed at an acceptable level. Once you have the time for play, please provide a full signup sheet so we can see what needs adjusting.

Here it is, finally!

  • Name: Bardock
  • Franchise: Dragon Ball Z
  • Age: Difficult to determine due to Saiyans aging slowly - in human terms, late-20's to early-30's.
  • Race: (Low-Class) Saiyan
  • Appearance: His hair is indicative of a low-class Saiyan warrior - Saiyans are a class-based society whose hair does not change from the day they are born. Bardock's son Kakarot and his fellow low-class warrior Turles share near-identical hairstyles.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Class: Fighter, or specifically Low-Class Warrior (the team Bardock is the leader of in the game Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle.)
  • Personality: Generally aloof, Bardock displays the attitude typical of a Saiyan soldier. He values strength and is looking to test his strength against powerful opponents. That being said, Bardock values camaraderie between team members and if someone he trusts gets hurt, he will fight to the death to avenge them.
  • Skills: Leadership skills, tactical knowledge
  • Powers and Abilities:
    • Ki manipulation, allowing him to channel his ki into blasts or energy waves
    • Flight - Bardock can use his ki to lift himself off the ground and through the air at high speeds.
    • Saiyan Tail - When the moon is full, a Saiyan whose tail is intact will transform into a gargantuan ape-like creature called an Oozaru. The Saiyans are infamous for planning raids for the night of the full moon so that their strength would be at its peak. Most low-class Saiyans cannot control themselves in this state and lose all sense of self. Bardock, however, has done this so many times in so many battles that he's begun to remember what he does while transformed and is starting to assume some degree of control over his behavior while transformed.
    • Saiyan Power: Often referred to as “a Zenkai boost,” a Saiyan who takes significant damage in battle will find that their power has substantially increased upon recovering. Even during battle with a powerful opponent, a Saiyan can imprint on the experience mid-battle and adjust their strategy in the middle of combat. Though it is theorized that there must be some upper limit to how much “Zenkai boosts” can increase a Saiyan’s strength, no Saiyan in recorded history has ever hit that limit yet. Bardock especially has been in so many battles in his military career that his strength is said to rival that of the Saiyan King’s...though nobody who values their life would dare say that in earshot of King Vegeta.
    • Super Saiyan: The Saiyan race has a legend of a frighteningly powerful warrior whose strength surpasses all others of his species. While Bardock personally doesn't put much stock into the legend and has never seen a Super Saiyan for himself, there are many who believe in the "pure-hearted warrior, awakened by rage."
    • "Useless-Ass Psychic Powers" - Bardock was cursed with the ability to see his own future, and the inability to change it. If Bardock has a vision, he is immobilized while viewing it, and they typically come true. He cannot control when these psychic visions manifest.
  • Equipment:
    • Saiyan armor: One size fits all! Durable but elastic, Bardock's armor protects against most light injuries, but sufficiently powerful weapons or strikes from a powerful opponent will punch through it.
  • Background: A native of the Saiyan homeland Vegeta, Bardock led a crew of fellow Saiyan soldiers on raids of other settlements for a terrifying emperor. Bardock led assaults on the otherwise-peaceful settlements of Kanassa and Meat (seriously), wiping out almost everyone there under the orders of his employer. During the attack on Kanassa, Bardock was cursed with the ability to see the impending demise of his people. Sure enough, the nation of Vegeta was soon attacked by Emperor Frieza's army. Bardock barely escaped with his life, his entire team wiped out by Frieza's men. He now roams the lands on his own, looking for two things - a good fight and another Saiyan with hair like his.

(I have no intention of like, making Frieza appear or anything, but it's a fun backstory flair to inform his actions and demeanor. If the stuff about Frieza existing is allowed, he'd just be an evil emperor with multiple areas under his control but obviously not any areas that are already established. Basically a backstory villain who would not need to ever appear.)

For his race/species...

  • Name: Saiyans
  • Territories: The country of Vegeta, also whatever colonies they'd kept for themselves and not sold off to bidders, or taken by Frieza.
  • Biology: Largely human-like, Saiyans are distinguished by their prominent hair (usually) and monkey-like tails. Saiyans age more slowly than humans, staying in their prime until around their 80's so they can continue fighting.
  • Culture: Saiyans are known for fighting and conquest. They take and keep whatever they can take by force. Saiyans have a class-based structure where their weaker, low-class members are sent off to other territories and settlements at youth to wipe them out. If the kid dies, then they were weak. If they survived, they come back and get sent off on another mission. Saiyans typically don't value traditional family structures and mating for life is not a common practice among them, but it's been known to happen. Bardock is an example of this, with a wife named Gine and his two sons Raditz and Kakarot.
  • Short History: The Saiyans used to be natives of a region known as Sadala, but their constant warring and in-fighting scarred the landscape and made Sadala near-uninhabitable. Realizing this, the Saiyans collectively ventured to the nearby region of Plant, invaded it, slaughtered its native people and renamed it after their King Vegeta. The Saiyans were later employed by Emperor Frieza as an invasion force, and none of them have dared to rebel against him. Recently, fewer and fewer Saiyan attacks have been happening throughout the land, but anyone who's heard of the Saiyans knows one thing. When you see a Saiyan, run.

Please let me know if any of this needs amending or more detail and I will happily do so.
