It was rumored for some time this morning but now it's official: Netflix has joined the Motion Picture Association of America
, Hollywood's top-lobbying group. This is the first time ever that a digital streaming platform unconnected to a major studio has received a seat in the group.
They will take the place of 20th Century Fox, whose seat will be vacated when it's absorbed into fellow MPAA member Disney.
Other digital streamers, such as Amazon, are also being considered as additional members of the board.
Could other tech companies be interested in joining the group? Time to discuss the consequences of this industry-changing move.
