Would it be cool to have the reflection as a secondary consciousness
of sorts (similar to Time's Arrow narrator), that could add some levity to everything here.

That does give me a starting point, and I like introspective and philosophical questions in my novels, things that make you or the reader think, are things always as they appear to be? Sometimes not...
(Something very interesting happened when I was playing Samurai of Hyuga game, Misako turned rather defensive and passive whenever it comes to others questioning her...)
