Reading tropes such as You Know What You Did

So this seemed to drop off the face of the Earth and with writing being good therapy for some, certainly art therapy for those who like to put up a visual portrayal of their characters, I think bringing it back with a twist would be something a lot of us value.

So what twist? Instead of a basic Q&A session we pick out ten characters at random, can be individuals or groups, real or fictional, and our character gives their thoughts.

Allow me to demonstrate what I had in mind: below is Karyn Fischer. Who's Karyn Fischer.

At first glance Karyn Fischer is little more than a MMA thug who punches anyone in her way to death. While this initial impression is not necessarily wrong perse, she is one reason why the trope Hidden Depths exists.

  • On Rei Ayanami: She's the one used to destroy the world or is against wiping out the human race isn't she? She wants to die? So if she copped a Superman punch and her head went into orbit she gets what she wants and the world is saved, everyone wins...I'm not offering I'm asking.
    • Don't let her use a computer, just don't. She'd join in I think, or read what's online and think the end of the world is a great idea.

  • On Batman: Which one? As a kid they made these cartoons that were just like watching a film. The one that had Luke Skywalker as the Joker, they were great, the music was great, they treated the viewers as mature. The stuff that comes out today with Catwoman as a stripper or pro, who writes that? Oh, he did. Gimme a teen or adult Selina and a young Bruce she watches over before he becomes Batman, that's a thing.

  • On Kylo Ren: I haven't seen it so I cannot weigh into them being feminism or bad but Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm, Cyborg, don't they tell you something? Men may be men but women are just as dangerous, certainly more dangerous than any fragile manhood.

  • Speaking of which, on Ronda Rousey: You have to respect a woman who Mens Health put on their cover as the greatest fighter, male or female, period. Gotta respect everything surrounding the Bethe Correia issue, matter of fact I would love a shot myself. Gotta respect Holm for what she did to Rousey. I'm not going to judge what personal demons she went through, moving to pro wrestling, acting. I will say I'm more a Meisha Tate or Michelle Waterson fan, but again you gotta respect Rowdy Ronda Rousey for what she did.

  • On Tyrion Lannister: Fun fact, first two episodes of the show, Arya is desperate to meet the Imp. Season eight of the show, gotta have it. Just by Game of Thrones everyone loves him...except for his father and sister. And Bron and Jamie and Peter Dinklage, that Superbowl ad with Morgan Freeman, muah.

  • On Carrie Mathison: When this begins to accurately resemble current US foreign policy either they are doing something right or the United States is doing something wrong...they are doing something very very wrong. Hence...

  • On Donald Trump: I knew you were going to say that, I just know he was going to come up. Um...how can I say this without sounding like I advocate violence? I won't go into the Wall, the Caravan, the shutdown, his meltdown, not even religion or race, I don't swing a sword for my beliefs. I will say that there has to be something out there, a god, aliens, whoever, if no one had shot him yet or forcibly dethroned him or his supporters had not attempted a civil war or the man himself had not tried to get the launch codes, that has to show a higher power. I won't compare my Mexican patriotism with his, but maybe stop using fiction as a accurate guide which he has done.

  • So, on aliens or Area 51: Ah that old chestnut. In the past twenty years they had come out and said yes there is a Area 51, Nellis Air Force Base I think it is, and it was a secret because of the Cold War? Experimental fighters? Did that stem from aliens? Well either someone who studies the search for alien life is not doing their job or these aliens have the technology to some from some Sullistan Nebula, that light speed travel, and you'd think the Roswell aliens' friends would be similarly capable, have some military ability, to not evade capture or their friends to go on a rescue mission...those are my options on that. NASA is lazy or the aliens can travel but not fight, that's how I explain it.

  • On Roman Reigns: It's less a problem with him himself or his group or gimmick and more whoever writes it or plans the matches trying to make the fans like him. Imagine if, say, Dana White or who's the NBA boss now? Imagine if they came out and said Cheick Kongo or the Kings are the chosen one, they will be the champion and you will be forced to cheer for our hand picked face of the company. That's where they got it so wrong.

  • On William Shakespere: Here's the thing with the classic books that are to be studied in school, they are not meant to be read, that's boring. They are supposed to be acted and played out. That would be like if I told you about a fight where with one punch they hit the ground and several more turned them into hamburger. I could tell you but if you could actually see that for yourself that's so much better.

Unless I'm missing something, this seems to rely on the assumption that both the writer and the character would be familiar with all ten people.

You, your character, would not need to be knowledgeable of Rei for example. It could be Lucy from Elfen Lied, or you're a Batman fan, the character you have giving feedback may be more of a Spider Jeruselum reader, in indeed they read comics at all.

Idea is hearing your character's feedback on X...Adventure Time, older Bethesda games, charity work in Albania, you pick it. A tool for the writer and the reader to get into the character's head I guess. Were it, say, Ada for example, she would discuss basketball more, college related stuff more, college settings, works people in college would be fans of, teen movies, that sort of thing. Not Shakespere and what she says wouldn't be, but it'd be her own thoughts on their topics of interest.
