While the first episode has been up for a while online, the proper tv premiere is tonight, 10PM EST.

Based on a Rick Remender comic book (and based somewhat on his own experiences with teenage gang violence), Deadly Class is set in the 80s and is a bout a group of fairly diverse students at Kings Dominion, a secret prep school for assassins, many of whom come from criminal families and other violent backgrounds.

I've read much of the comic but find it, at times a bit too bleak. I imagine the show will be a bit lighter, as these things often are to be more palatable to mainstream audiences.

I watched the first episode when it got put on the app a few weeks back. Dark stuff isn't my thing and I never read the comics but I gotta see how the plot plays out so...

Without spoiling anything, I will let you know it gets progressively darker.

Highschool shows are always a weird thing to judge because the characters tend to be very stereotypical (especially in a period piece), but as anyone who has been in highschool can tell you, plenty of kids that age are happy to fit into a stereotype.

I'm aware. I've read the trope page from the comic and I know that most of the cast dies and gets replaced there. With this being a show though, I'm hoping they don't stick to that because that'd be super dumb.

Actually most of them don't die, just a couple.

I read the comics a good deal so I'm curious how this turns out.

I figure finals will play out more or less how they do in the comics. It would alter the plot if it didn't quite a bit.

They are definitely making Viktor and Shabnam more likeable than they were in the comics.

It helps that Viktor looks like a tall handsome guy and not a V-shaped man with a jaw made of granite, and they're playing up his funny foreigner aspects.
