@mir Cue the opening of CSI: Miami. Haha.

Recent on set photos of Mckenna Grace and Emily Alyn Lind together surfaced online. These are the first glimpse we've gotten of the latter in the movie.

[up]Sounds awesome. Definitely looking forward to it.

A friend and I saw Answer the Call a weekend after it came out back in 2016 and then in 2021, watched the very first movie together before going to Afterlife the same night. We still got Ghostbusters II to watch together before this movie. Be pretty cool if Vigo had a surprise cameo.

On the bright side: Janine's a ghostbuster, Slimer and the Librarian are back.

On the not-so-bright side: Dickless is back.

Interesting that Peck is back. I wonder if it'll just be a small cameo or he'll have a larger role.

I like how almost everything he's saying is still technically right, but he's just being a colossal prick about it all as well. Haha.

I guess People weren't calling William Atherton 'dickless' enough for his liking anymore. Or he really needs the money. What's next he's in Die Hard 6?

Peck being back and in an apparent position of control over the Ghostbusters might be a sign they're bringing in stuff from the IDW series, along with Janine being in uniform.

[up]They have said that the cartoon—which I've only ever seen once or twice—was a big inspiration behind this film.

I like seeing him back after all these years if you ask me. I'm confused about the aspect of him saying there were no witnesses when he was there and saw most of what happened—especially the brilliantly karmic moment of marshmallow goo spilling all over him. Haha. I guess it's still chucked up to the idea that they used chemicals that created images of things not actually there—which being from the EPA, he WOULD believe that certainly.

Still no indication of what Emily's role in the movie will be. She's the only one who's still undisclosed right now.

Again, if the Romantic False Lead aspect is in there, be interesting to see which direction they go. Do they make Lucky the girl Trevor's pinning for who doesn't love him back while Emily's character pines for and loves him or do they have Trevor start to develop a relationship with Emily's character just as Lucky begins to reciprocate his feelings for her? Again, I'm fascinated either way and again hope she's not a mean girl only there to torment Phoebe.

While I know this is probably one of the things people excited for this movie are least interested in, I still at least like to speculate on it though. Give me that at least. Things like this don't seem like they could be important, but you'd be surprised.

Be surprisingly dark if any of the young characters got killed off certainly because it would show how undeniably real the stakes were/are too.

Yea, Peck saying there were no witnesses only makes sense if he's talking about just what happened at the top of the building the first time around. Plenty of people were around to see everything else.

Peck seems to be much as we left him forty years ago: the points he makes are technically valid, but he argues them is such clear bad faith that you still want to smack him with a frying pan.

Trailer is at 6 million views right now. Promising for its box office.

Does anyone know what parables Ray might be referencing in the trailer?

Peck is definitely not likable, that's for sure. That's what made him such an enjoyable jerk/bully in the first one. I think it's one of the first times I saw a movie about adult characters where they had a bully. Haha.

GB2016 has its moments. The bit at the Ozzy Osbourne concert was good. Chris Hemsworth and Kate McKinnon were good, give or take a queef joke or some artless product placement. And if Rowan was in any of the other movies, he'd probably be considered the best villain in the series.

Rowan is pretty forgettable IMO, let alone being a top tier villain in the franchise.

I had to remind myself who Rowan even was just now. He definitely wouldn't have stood out in another movie.

I recall not actually laughing at it much, but not hating it.

I thought the villain basically being a ghostbusters take on a the kind of misanthropes who would go on a shooting worked. He looked like a completely normal dude, and lacked the sort of grand vision of Ivo Shandor, even if their goals were the same.

It kinda grounded him, despite him becoming an eldritch abomination.

That being said, the recent movies have been better. Without a doubt.

The 2016 movie was more of a sci-fi comedy rather than a horror comedy of the rest of the franchise, Rowan might have worked in a movie that was actually trying to be a little scary. The misanthrope and anti-Ghostbuster concepts were lightly touched upon elsewhere, as Ghostbusters: The Video Game implied that Shandor's various temples and shrines was using engineering that is not that different from Ghostbuster tech.

Comics are just words and pictures. You can do anything with words and pictures.
