The main concern of a Hate Sink is whether the narrative treats the character as someone intended to be despised.
The character in question must actually display detestable qualities, and be hated by other characters at least, or treated by the narrative like someone you are supposed to hate. The author's declared intent cements an example, but is not needed if the narrative itself treats the character as someone who is supposed to be hated.
A Hate Sink may have charismatic traits, a troubled past, or complexity, but in order for this trope to be in effect, such traits must be de-emphasized by the narrative in favour of their detestable traits.
Please note that we do not use Effort Posts.

New EP for Star Wars with another candidate from A New Hope since we already have Grand Moff Tarkin:
What is the Work?
As most people know, A New Hope is a 1977 film that is the original work in the Star Wars franchise, which chronicles the exploits of Luke Skywalker, a farm boy who stumbles on a recording of a princess in trouble and gets dragged into a galaxy's worth of adventure, magic and danger.
Who is the candidate and what does he do?
Admiral Conan Antonio Motti (Richard LeParmienter) is an admiral of the Galactic Empire and chief of operations on the Death Star, the battle station that can destroy an entire planet with a single blast. Motti is introduced as being dismissive of the Rebel Alliance's chances despite them having stolen the plans to the Death Star. Motti then declares the Death Star the "ultimate power in the universe" and suggests its use. When Darth Vader argues that the Force is much more powerful than the Death Star, Motti proceeds to insult Vader's faith in the Force, which proves to be ill-advised when Vader begins telekinetically strangling Motti from across the conference room, telling him he "finds his lack of faith disturbing", only relenting when Grand Moff Tarkin tells Vader to release Motti. Motti recovers relatively quickly, and when Tarken tells him to set the Death Star's course for Alderaan, Motti replies "With pleasure". Ultimately, Motti's claims of the Death Star's superiority are proven wrong when Luke Skywalker drops a proton torpedo down a thermal exhaust port, which destroys the Death Star, killing Tarkin and Motti.
Outside of the film, Motti is generally depicted as arrogant and unlikable.
What makes him personally despicable?
He's a Smug Snake utterly convinced of the power of the Death Star and is dismissive of anything else. In this capacity, he makes the mistake of insulting the most powerful person in the room (Darth Vader) and is strangled for it until told to stop by Tarkin (on a meta note, this is the first onscreen use of the Force). He also willingly complies with and takes open pleasure in the destruction of the planet Alderaan.
Mitigating Circumstances? Evil Is Cool? Freudian Excuse?
He's a one-note character. On the other hand while Peter Cushing is able to inject some sort of charisma into Tarkin, Motti makes no such overtures.
Authorial Intent?
Richard LeParmientier said in an interview that he made Motti out to be a Trigger-Happy, sanctimonious Smug Snake to play him off against the more cautious Cassio Tagge and use him as a character to demonstrate Darth Vader's power.

"I'll show you the Dark Side." CM actors and kills
Hmmm, Richard Le Parmientier's quote does some strength to Hate Sink. Motti is a bit tricky since he has only one major scene to himself and he gets overshadowed by Tarkin's Moral Event Horizon.
If I have any suggestion, don't simply focus on that one iconic scene alone. Also emphasize his character in other scenes such as being a willful conspirator with Tarkin.
And perhaps, if possible, briefly mention how he's portrayed in the other works
.
It's a throwaway line later on in the film, but when he receives Tarkin's command to target Alderaan, Motti says "With pleasure". I'm mostly unfamiliar with Motti outside of the films.
"I'll show you the Dark Side." CM actors and kills
Well, Motti is often portrayed as arrogant and it's even revealed in an EU story that he remains unrepentant about his belief that the Force is superstition despite being choked by Darth Vader, believing that Vader using the Force on him is proof that Vader is a sore loser and thus Motti won the argument that the Force is just superstition or something like that.
You don't need to expand on the EU material, just a brief sentence of how other works in Star Wars don't portray him in a likable manner.
But yeah, I recommend main scene plus his willing compliancy with Tarkin's genocide.
EDIT: these entries are up for in the main page:
- Supernatural: Zachariah is a petty angel tasked with convincing Dean Winchester to allow himself to be possessed by the Archangel Michael. While he always came across as a condescending prick, he at least seemed to be on humanity's side, but he later reveals that Heaven had no intention of stopping the Apocalypse. Zachariah does anything he can to force Dean to say yes to Michael, up to and including torture. Examples include giving Dean stomach cancer, stealing his brother Sam's lungs, and even conjuring an illusion of their deceased mother Mary to psychologically torment him. In a final attempt to force Dean to say yes, he resurrects his younger half-brother Adam Milligan, making it appear that Heaven is using Adam as a substitute vessel for Michael, in order to lure out Dean, tortures Sam and Adam in front of him, and then boasts of his superiority when Dean says that Michael must kill Zachariah in order to possess him.
- Ford v Ferrari: Leo Beebe is an Obstructive Bureaucrat who personifies the bloated upper management of the Ford Motor Company that plagues Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles' efforts to build a world-class race car and beat Ferrari. A smug Control Freak with a personal grudge against Miles, Beebe does everything in his power to deny Miles to chance to race the 24 Hours of Le Mans and later sabotage the team for resisting his authority, even if it means that Ford loses to Ferrari once again.
- Trolls: Creek, despite his initial appearance as a wise and serene individual and romantic interest to Poppy, eventually reveals his true colours as a self-centered and cowardly traitor. To avoid being eaten by the Bergens, Creek remorselessly sells out the rest of the trolls to be devoured in his place, willing to let all of his friends and brethren die solely to save his own skin, and has the gall to tell the captured Poppy that he's doing it for her, as she will at least die with a clear conscience.
- Frozen II: King Runeard, the grandfather of Anna and Elsa, appeared to be a benevolent ruler but was actually a vengeful and ruthless madman. Paranoid over the magical qualities the Northuldrans displayed, Runeard creates a dam under the guise of a "peace offering" to weaken the Northuldrans until they conformed to his authority. When the leader of the Northuldrans approaches him to air his complaints, Runeard takes advantage of him being unarmed and murders him kickstarting a war between Arendelle and Northuldra. Because of his actions, this resulted in the Enchanted Forest getting closed off from Arendelle by the angered nature spirits.

Here's Kovarian's write-up
- Doctor Who: Madame Kovarian is one of the main figures of the Silence movement. Kidnapping a pregnant Amy Pond, Kovarian has her daughter Melody taken away from her to be trained into a weapon to kill the Doctor. When the first attempt on the Doctor's life fails, Kovarian tracks down a reformed Melody - now going by the name River Song - and traps her in an astronaut suit to force her to kill the Doctor. In an Alternate Timeline where River never shot the Doctor, Kovarian is betrayed by the Silence and begs Amy to save her. Amy instead recalls all the terrible things she put her and her family through before letting the Silence kill her. Despite her ultimately well-intentioned goal of preventing the Time War's return, Kovarian's cruelty, arrogance and cowardice make it unlikely for the audience to feel anything but contempt for her.
Here's my write up for Hiyama Daisuke:
Arifureta From Commonplace To Worlds Strongest: Hiyama Daisuke is the Barbaric Bully of the protagonist Nagumo Hajime and one who attempted to murder him so he can have Shirasaki Kaori all to himself. He even feigns remorse for putting his classmates in danger so he can convince Kouki to let him be alongside Shirasaki. When he discovers that not only did Nagumo survive his murder attempt and is fully aware of what he's done, but also that he has gotten stronger and is able to kill him if he so wished, Daisuke starts to lose his mind, moreso when Shirasaki decides to join Nagumo's party. Conspiring with Nakamura Eri to betray their classmates and the kingdom to the demons, Daisuke attempts to kill Shirasaki so she can be reanimated into a doll to love only him. He earns himself no sympathy at all when Nagumo (who didn't bother to kill him because he deemed him not worth it) finally loses every shred of mercy he had left in him and kills Daisuke by throwing him to the monsters, mirroring how Daisuke attempted to murder him.

What is the work?
Light Novel: Even Though I’m a Former Noble and a Single Mother, My Daughters Are Too Cute and Working as an Adventurer Isn’t Too Much of a Hassle
Who is the character? While the vast majority of the antagonists do despicable things, two characters stand out as being written to be loathed in-universe and out. Crown Prince—> Emperor Albert Ragdoll and the woman he marries, Alice Earlgrey—> Empress Alice Ragdoll.
What have they done?
Alice Earlgrey, later known as Alice Ragdoll, is the main character's younger biological sister. As they were growing up, she, along with the rest of Shirley's biological family, absolutely brutalized the young girl, Alice is even shown on repeated occasions smashing Shirley's plate to the ground, denying her what little food she did receive. When Shirley still grew up to be more physically attractive than herself, catching the eye of crown prince Albert, not just by her physical beauty and character, but her sob-story, Alice schemes to steal Albert away from Shirley, deluding herself into believing that not only had Shirley stolen Albert from herself first, but falsely accuses Shirley of many crimes of which she herself is guilty, including stating with Crocodile Tears that Shirley brutalized her when they were children, not the other way around. She serves as the Freudian Excuse of many villains, using hypnosis magic to lure them into her bed and her thrall, purely for her own enjoyment. She is a complete hedonist who only cares about lavishing herself with as much opulence and pleasure as she can, damn the consequences. Even convincing her husband, Emperor Albert, to institute a truly withering tax rate, crippling the empire's economy, solely so she can drown in luxury during the day, and grand balls at night. She is an unscrupulous harlot, having so many men lined up to share her bed that she might as well install a revolving door on her bedchambers, despite being married to Albert, said activity not only rendering her wrinkled and grey early, but rendering her barren, which she then goes on to blame on Shirley. When she hears that Shirley managed to give birth to two daughters, she's initially opposed to having them brought to the empire to be Albert's heirs, until she decides instead that she will hand them off to the fattest, most abhorrent, and physically repulsive nobles she can, just to spite Shirley for being able to bear children for Albert while she can't.
Albert Ragdoll is at least as bad, if not worse. A petulant manchild, Albert wooed and betrothed to Shirley for eight years, acted like a good and loving man, rescuing her from the hell of the Earlgrey estate, and grooming her to be his empress, the rest of his family doting on Shirley for her beauty and upstanding character, despite her past. This all came to a screeching end, the day after their wedding, despite Albert taking her virginity on their wedding night, he happily deludes himself into believing Alice's lie that Shirley used Crocodile Tears to win his sympathy, slept around with countless men, shared state secrets with hostile countries, embezzled from the royal treasury, and is a despicable woman who was stringing him along. All crimes Alice herself is guilty of. All purely because he's butt-hurt that, despite starting at age 11, in less than 8 years of royal grooming and privilege, Shirley outshines him, in reading, writing, magic, and popularity with the masses, noble or peasant alike. Without letting her get a word in edgewise, he has her arrested, sent into a dungeon, her pleas falling on deaf ears, and has her tortured to try and extract a false confession. When she escapes, and flees, he has the entire empire hunt her down like an animal, until she crosses the border into a neighboring kingdom, two small children in tow, his own daughters. The moment he learns his wife is barren and Shirley has bore him twin daughters, he tries to have said daughters kidnapped, repeatedly, first with mind-control curses, and then with physical kidnappers, promising the kidnappers that if Shirley tries to rescue them, the kidnappers can take Shirley herself as a sex-slave. After Shirley beats his chosen champion in a duel, he walks up to the clearly traumatized family, still insisting the young children are his, and thinks it will all be okay if he takes on Shirley as a concubine. Completely unrepentant, he convinces himself he's done nothing wrong, shouting at anyone who calls him out on it, and refuses to stop pursuing Shirley and her daughters, despite having it spelled out to him that he has no claim, the top reason being that he himself banished them.
Verdict: Guilty as charged.
to Motti and Alice.
Hello everyone its me again. So I'm aware that South Park there's this one character that I really like to discuss and his name as you all know is Eric Cartman. So here's his current write-up:
- Eric Cartman is a Love to Hate example. While he's meant to be hilarious, he’s also meant to be hated for his jerkass behavior which includes being a Spoiled Brat, anti-semitism, racism, and the fact that in "Scott Tenorman Must Die" he surprised viewers and the other characters by orchestrating a complex but sinister plan to get back at Scott Tenorman for stealing money from him and for humiliating him in public by arranging for Scott's parents to be murdered, butchered into chili, and then tricking Scott into eating such chili. Kyle is shown to hate Cartman as well as many of the other kids in the town.
- He's definitely a straight example of this trope during Season 21, where he becomes an emotionally abusive boyfriend towards Heidi Turner, making his evil played in a more realistic manner. It makes watching Heidi break up with him for good all the more satisfying.
As you all know Eric Cartman is one of the most memorable and infamous characters in the whole series. I added some of the stuff there, especially in regards to his actions in Season 21 because in my opinion Cartman is one of the most prominent examples of a Hate Sink character as he meets just about all the qualifications to one (being incredibly bigoted, smug, cowardly, and committing numerous atrocities for petty reasons). In fact he's so despicable that I really want him to count as a Complete Monster sometimes.
That said I am aware that there are also those who are fans of Cartman and like him because he is hilarious. I agree with that sentiment that yes Cartman is funny as he is written to be such, but he is also written to be as loathsome as possible and not really the kind of person you'd sympathize with. To me he
Cartman lacks any Evil Is Cool factors to detract from all the awful things he has done, which includes and possible not limited to, tricking Scott to feeding his own parents, exploiting Kenny's death to clone a Shakey's restaurant, intentionally infected Kyle with HIV, use Cthulhu to cause destruction and death, abused his girlfriend Heidi many times (getting her killed by a which, pushed her in front of an ongoing car, tricking her a vegan into eating meat, etc) which was actually Played for Drama, and in the first episode most recent season got Kyle and his family to be sent to an ICE Detention Center.
Now I would love to take just about everything Cartman has done and condense it to a write-up, though I'm still curious on wether or not I need to EP Cartman. Still I would like to people's vote
or
on Eric Cartman as a Hate Sink
Edited by G-Editor on Dec 14th 2019 at 9:16:41 AM
My sandbox of EPs and other stuffYou know now that I just explained all that about Cartman here, there is one version of him that I think would definitely qualify from the Fan Fic Lex Talionis.
What’s The Work?
Lex Talionis is an original Dark Fic, based on the long-running animated show, South Park.
It revolves around the boys life as they reach adulthood where Stan Marsh and Kenny McCormick become detectives and investigate a domestic abuse case that leads to murder. Now then here's this version of Eric Cartman.
Who Is He? What Has He Done?
Eric Cartman is of course everyone’s favorite child sociopath known for being obsessed with his Arch-Enemy Kyle Broflovski. Once Cartman becomes an adult his obsession with Kyle becomes much more depraved and disturbing.
Basically Eric Cartman kidnaps Kyle and forces Kyle to become his “Fiancé”, which is making Kyle Cartman’s Sex Slave where he imprisons Kyle, raping and abusing him for ten whole years.
When Tweek becomes worried about Kyle and tries to save him from Cartman, Cartman proceeds to rape Tweek to force him to keep him quiet, while obtaining control over him.
It’s also heavily implied that Cartman’s a Serial Rapist who also raped Butters, Tomas, and Christophe, who managed to get away with all these atrocities because he has connections with Corrupt Corporate Executive, Montgomery. Cartman also attempts to rape Pip, but he was lucky enough to save himself from this fate.
Eventually, Cartman would soon meet his end when Detective Stan Marsh kills Cartman for everything that he’s done to his victims, but Stan would be arrested for what he did, while Cartman’s victims would still be traumatized with everything he’s put them through, especially Kyle.
Is He Likable? Is He Sympathetic?
Nope this version is not likable, nor sympathetic. Hell, he's not even funny here.
He claims to love Kyle, but it obvious that his obsession Kyle is simply depraved lust that stem to his hatred for him, and he wants to make him suffer as much as possible, including imprisoning him as his Sex Slave for 10 years to rape and abuse while raping others to meet them quiet and under his control whenever they get too close to the truth.
What makes this version of Cartman more hatable than his canon counterpart is that Cartman’s actions here are never played for laughs at all. Instead they are all portrayed as extremely dramatic, traumatic, horrific, and sickening as possible.
What Makes Him So Hatable?
What makes Eric Cartman so hatable here is his depraved crimes of keeping Kyle as his Sex Slave to rape and abuse for 10 years, raped Tweek to keep him submissive, attempted to rape Pip, and is implied to have rape many other before (Tomas, Butters, Christophe).
In fact he was so atrocious that I actually effort posted him in the complete monster cleanup thread
though he was voted down due to the Dark Fic's portrayal of its characters, but given that the Hate Sink cleanup thread is much more laxed with these issue, I think that I can get away with effort posting him here (especially if everyone thinks Canon!Cartman also counts as this too)
Final Verdict
I’ll leave it to you guys
My sandbox of EPs and other stuff
to both Cartmans. The only way he could possibly avoid this if the writers honestly thought they weren't making a despicable character from the beginning or if he was given any sympathetic moments, however small (even then, that wouldn't be enough).
The fact that he would sometimes get his karmic Humiliation Conga punishment is proof that even the writers don't see him as sympathetic.
Alright, yes to Rape Fic!Eric. There are a few episodes where you're supposed to feel sorry (or at the very least some kind of twisted pity) for Cartman. So I can't say for certain Eric hits the notes in canon. I mean when he's an anti semite/homophobic/haircist or just a plain spiteful kid he's hateable enough, but he does have some admittedly funny moments, and on the rare occasion Jerkass Has a Point. He has all the qualities of a Hate Sink but I think due to his redeeming and pitiable qualities he just barely misses out on HS. Reedeeming qualities being that even he is disgusted, and/or horrified with a few actions the kids do in the earlier seasons. And even in more recent seasons such as the episode where he fakes Tourette's, he is threatened to die by Chris Hansen if he doesn't go on national television, and seems to have the same disgust for NAMBLA that the other boys have in that episode after realizing exactly what a pedophile is. And thanks to South Park having (mostly) Negative Continuity, I think all his actions good or bad, are difficult to chart just what seasons he is Unintentionally Sympathetic and ones he is an outright HS.

Well I'll wait for more votes on canon Cartman but before I do his write-up, but for the moment fanfic Cartman seems like a clear keeper so I'll do his write-up right now.
- Lex Talionis: Eric Cartman is much more vile here than he was canon. With his Irrational Hatred for Kyle Broflovski developing into a twisted lustful obsession, he kidnaps Kyle to make him his "fiancé" before imprisoning and raping Kyle for ten years. He would also rape Tweek to keep him quiet about the incident and is implied to be a Serial Rapist have also raped Butters, Tomas, and Christophe. Cartman's atrocities would be discovered by Stan Marsh who murders him for his depravities while his death is mourn by none.

My sandbox of EPs and other stuffWhat is the Work?
The syfy comedy adult cartoon Rick and Morty is about the titular characters going on adventures. While Rick is immoral and sociopathic, he and Morty meet many people just as bad if not worse. During the episode "Vindicators 3: The Return of World Ender", we meet several such people.
Who are the candidates and what do they do?
The Vindicators are team of galactic superhero who invite Ricky and Morty to help fight the World Ender. However, when Rick got black out drunk, he killed the World Ender the night before and converted his hideout into a Saw trap house to put the Vindicators though tests to prove that they are egocentric glory hound who don't care about the people they save. However the reality of the Vindicators turned out to be much worse. During the tests it's revealed that during their last mission the Vindicators murdered an entire planet full of people to kill a single shapeshifter who was hiding on the planet. After two of them die during the first to trials, they then start fighting among themselves and kill each other leaving only Supernova alive who would have killed Rick and Morty (despite Morty being the reason they made it threw the traps and having nothing to do with Rick's death game) if Rick hadn't put up a party right at the exit.
What makes them personally despicable?
Not only did the Vindicators kill an entire world, but they could have avoided doing that if they had asked Rick for help which they refused to do because they don't like him and think he's difficult to work with (which while valid points still means that they would rather kill an entire world then work with someone they don't like). When Rick points this out, Supernova throws all the blame on to Alan Rails specifically. When Alan begins to question Supernova and Million Ants's relationship, they reveal that Supernova had an affair with Million Ants while she and Alan were still married leading to Alan attack them. However Supernova had already already immobilized Alan when Million Ants murdered him. Also just before Vance's death, he revealed that the only reason they liked having Morty around was because he was good for publicity.
Mitigating Circumstances? Evil Is Cool? Freudian Excuse?
While they all have tragic back stories, they aren't revealed and are only mentioned to be a joke about the superhero genre. They are all stupid, Alan only able to come up with plan involving ghost trains, Million Ants being a captain obvious and Vance's death inparticular being cause by ignoring Rick's warning about the fact that they will died if they try to leave without completing the tests. Supernova might have been traumatized by the death of the baby she had with Million Ants and deaths of three of her other teammates, but when Million Ants objects to executing Rick and Morty (despite Morty being the reason they made it threw the traps and having nothing to do with Rick's death game and Ants being the one who killed Alan Rails not Rick) pointing out that this isn't like her and he loves her because of her strong sense of justice, she still doesn't hesitate to murder him.
Authorial Intent?
The Vindicators are meant to be a take-down of the superheroes, showing ones who are incompetent psychos who are no better than supervillains. They exist to show that Rick is better than them and to be kill off when they reveal their jerk-ass nature.
Verdict:
And how.
OK, I feel like people are just....making effortposts when they have zero qualms about whether or not the character qualifies. This was not the tentative agreement reached, and pinned in the header.
I really hate having to keep butting in, but these consistent posts are building on each other and making tropers just wandering in think it's required. It is not required.
I am revising the header.

Thank you.
Okay, just for clarification, if you strongly suspect that the character is written to be intentionally despicable, but aren't entirely sure, is an effortpost warranted?
I'm doing research on a particular character from the Night Huntress series who I believe is initially supposed to be despised until she develops as a character, and earlier on, her mistreatment of her daughter is emphasized over any sympathetic, charismatic, admirable, or complex traits.
That said, I still plan to look for zce's and bad examples above all.
Thank you for clarifying.

With Nombre here, this thread seems to be continuing to do EPs because people... feel like it. It’s serving zero tactical purpose on a lot of these and we should really just get in the practice of writing up obvious keepers and sticking to a point or two to argue minor factors. Also G your entry reads kinda like a way to get a CM type entry up for Cartman to circumvent the fact the dark fic wouldn’t be kosher on that thread.
I already voiced my concerns in a previous post.
I am able to use electronics with darker screens now according to the eye doctor, so don't be surprised that I'm posting. That said, according to the header, effortposts aren't essential, and are really more helpful for cases where there are numerous factors which cast doubt on the author's intent, or if you find it easier to organize your thoughts; however, as I understand it, if a character keeps as easily as the character above, with nothing that needs to be discussed, you are good to just write them up as an example.
Just to clarify my stance, if the author intent is clear even with factors that cast doubt on the author's intent, an effortpost is not needed. Effortposts are for organizing thoughts regarding cases where a character may qualify but one is not entirely sure due to factors which cast a significant shadow of a doubt on the author's intent.

What's the work?
Doctor Who is a British sci-fi television series currently spanning almost 40 seasons about a man/woman who travels in time in a police box shaped time machine. Today we'll be talking about one of the main antagonists of Series 6.
Who is Madame Kovarian? What has she done?
Kovarian first starts making appearances as visions Amy Pond has at random points in various episodes. It's not until "The Almost People" when we find out why she keeps having these visions; The Amy we've been following since the start of this season? That's not the real Amy, but a Ganger avatar. When the Doctor destroys the fake Amy, the real one wakes up in a white coffin and is heavily in labour. Kovarian then opens the hatch, and cruelly instructs her to push.
In the following episode, Kovarian takes Amy's newborn baby Melody away from her. Luckily, the Doctor, Rory and a handful of the Doctor's friends arrive to save Amy and Melody, and force Kovarian and her allies off Demon's Run. Later, after discovering that Melody has Time Lord DNA due to being conceived in the TARDIS, Kovarian pops up via a hologram. She tells the Doctor that Melody is hope in their "war" against him. The Doctor vows that he'll never let her touch Melody again, to which Kovarian smugly boasts about how she managed to fool him twice with the same trick. It's then that the Doctor realizes that the Melody on Demon's Run is a Ganger avatar, and the real Melody is with Kovarian and the Silence.
Kovarian doesn't reappear until the final scene of "Closing Time", where she pays a now grown up Melody - now going by the name of River Song - a visit. Kovarian gloats about how she never truly escaped the Silence, and forces her into an astronaut suit to kill the Doctor.
In Kovarian's next and final appearance, which largely takes place in an Alternate Timeline where River never shot the Doctor, Kovarian and the Silence are captured and held prisoner by the Ponds. The Silence eventually escape from their confinements and start killing everyone by electrocuting their eyepatches... including Kovarian. Kovarian begs Amy to save her, but she recounts everything she put her and her family through, forces her now loose eyepatch back on her empty socket and leaves her to die.
What makes Kovarian personally despicable?
Kidnapping a pregnant woman, taking her newborn baby away from her, grooms her into a psychopath, and when she's all grown up, tries to force her to kill the man she loves. And she does all of this being the smuggest bitch imaginable.
Freudian Excuse? Evil Is Cool? Any other mitigating qualities?
Kovarian, along with the rest of the Silence of the Kovarian Chapter, want to kill the Doctor to prevent him from answering the Question on Trenzalore, as that could endanger the entire Universe. The problem is that she takes way too much pleasure in hurting the Doctor and his friends. While she may have some well-intentioned goals, they're largely overshadowed by her cruel and sadistic personality.
Verdict?
A big fat
from me.
