Victor gulps. He had been hoping it wouldn't come to this.
"Well, uh..." he says. "Someone's... after me, but I... I didn't do what they think I did..."
Duane scoffs. Well that settles it! You must be a good man! Please, settle somewhere between our children and our pet, as you're clearly quite trusty.
He sighs. Look, mister, you need to understand, we'd be fools to just let you get by on so little. Especially considering how much we have to lose...
Someone's after you, too, eh? (Ira says. He shifts back into his normal form.) Well, I'm in the same boat! So you're among some like-minded people here, Victor.
(Hearing one of the voices up there mention Ira, Cleo, and Scale Cove confirms the scout's suspicions. They MUST have Ira up there! She doesn't know of a Victor, so he must be someone else's problem. Regardless, she drops off the side of the ship, shifts into a trout, and swims back for shore, making sure she stays out of everyone's sight and hearing.)
The pinkish-haired woman in armor crosses her muscular arms and stares at Victor.
"Well... I'd say for now, let's let him hitch a ride with us, but at the first sign of any conspiracy against the well-being of this crew, we get rid of him", she suggested, "We'll just need to keep an eye on him until then."

The chest flashes a Slasher Smile full of sharp teeth, chuckling menacingly as he glances at Nephenee then back at Victor.
Klamptrap: Heh, just leave him to me if we have to ditch him. I know how to take care of a person...
His voice then turns somewhat nicer.
Though if he means well, then welcome aboard!
Victor shudders slightly, his heart racing. Oh man, oh man... he thinks. Stay calm... just stay calm. You have no reason to betray their trust...
"I d-don't mean any harm, I promise,'' he says.
Melvin has been watching the crew meet this new arrival, and finally decides to step up and greet the lizard himself.
"Hello! Victor, was it? I'm Melvin, captain of this vessel."
Melvin sees how distraught Victor is and puts a hand on his shoulder.
"Don't you worry. We've all got problems, we've all got people trying to kill us. But we look out for each other in this crew. I'd be glad to have you join us, if you wish."
Seeing the captain take his side, Victor feels immensely relieved.
"Thank you so much, sir," he says, saluting Melvin. "It's an honor to be on your ship. I'll do my best to be helpful!"
Welcome aboard, Victor! (Ira says.) So...figure we should tell you what we're up to, eh?
"... Welcome aboard, then", said Nephenee, presenting a toothy grin.
Klamptrap offers his lone bony hand for a handshake to Victor, smiling.
Aye, welcome aboard the... what's the name of the ship again? The Zany-Pints?
Parada waves from her position still trying to pull up the anchor.
"Thank you," he says, reaching out to shake the treasure chest's hand. "It's nice to meet all of you."
In his panic, he had barely taken notice of how the orange dragon had somehow transformed into a much larger teal dragon, but as surprised as he was, he decided not to ask about it at the moment. "And yes, you're right... I apologize, I haven't even asked where you're headed."
That'd be the Zenpance. Duane looks around. He's scratching the side of his head. This was the second idea today that he'd been outvoted on. He thought about it.
He wasn't being cruel was he? He was looking out for the crew here. Sure, Victor seems nice, but what does that say about him as a person? And as for Sharkazil... he was looking out for it.
He thought about Victor. The crew was so willing to open themselves to this runaway stranger.
But, then again, everyone was a stranger.
Duane had to ponder some things. He retreated to the Captain's Quarters.
Gabrielle, fully recovered, hears commotion from above deck.
What in the...
Once she arrives on the deck, she sees everyone else crowding around... something. No, someone, an obviously frightened lizard.
"Oh, uh... did I miss a big event?"
She doesn't even notice the same strange ship from earlier, still nearby...
Klamptrap finishes shaking hands with Victor and turns to Gabrielle.
Oh, you just missed our newest recruit joining us after he took a leisurely swim. Meet Victor.
Kauri is still trying to help Parada hoist the anchor and is visibly putting a lot more effort into it. He's grunting, leaning back at an almost 45 degree angle, and trying to walk backwards.
(Ira looks toward Kauri and Parada hefting up the anchor.) You guys need any help?
"No.. I almost.. Got it..." Parada grunts at that last part and finally hauls the anchor over the edge. She attempts to place it on the ground carefully, but it still makes a bit of a thud when it lands.
"Hnngh- BWAHH!" The anchor is pulled up and Kauri falls backwards onto his rump. "Oof! OwwÖ" Ö Did he even do anything?
Klamptrap laughs at the sight of the kids.
Heh heh heh, maybe we should set up a gym or something for those two.
Victor also smiles slightly, feeling much more relaxed now. He could tell that these folks were trustworthy people.
"Hi there," he says to the woman Klamptrap just introduced him to.
"Watch it, lad!" Ezekiel, who was here the whole time, trust me, he was distracted, runs over to Kauri to try and help him back up. He looks to the other crew members with judging eyes, unsure why they just let the children get the anchor up by themselves.
Kauri gets back on his feet with the help of the raccoon guy. Still rubbing his behind, he meekly thanks the man. "Oh, th-thank you, Mister, uhÖ MisterÖ" (Oh, shoot. What was his name?)
Melvin watches Duane walk away and gets nervous. He wants the crew to be inviting and open, but he doesn't want to drive away his beloved cousin... On one hand, he regrets being so quick to let the Sharkazil stay, but on the other hand, Victor looks like he really needs company and shelter... Melvin definitely knows how that feels...
Still, he turns back to Victor and tries to be friendly.
"Well... welcome aboard, Victor! We're all looking out for each other here. You'll be fine..."
