Melvin overhears Duane telling Ira to go to his quarters. Melvin runs between the two.

"Hold it!"

"...Uh, allow me."

Melvin scurries to the captain's quarters, shutting the door behind him. A few seconds later, he comes back out with a map, shutting the door again. He takes it to Duane and Ira, holding it up so they can see, and pointing out the locations.

"Alright then. We're here, so Aetate is northeast from here. Probably a day or two away, I would guess..."

A day or two? Well, we should get the lead out then, eh? (Ira says.) Are we ready to set sail now?

("Ugh, c'mon...! Say something else before I have to leave...!")

I say we set out as soon as possible. No need to wait around. We don't need anybody catching us here and taking this-

He then lifts the Egg Shard, shaking it a bit. So let's just head.

"Agreed. Let's sail! Hoist the anchors!"

The call of "hoist the anchors" reverberates across the ship, hitting Sven's ear almost immediately.

However, Sven is presently dead set on observing Korvales' ship, so he chooses to adapt to the call by standing next to the starboard rail of the ship. He keeps his eyes firmly glued to the ornately decorated ship, catching glimpses of crew members getting into formation on the shore.

Parada has made her way to the top deck, and starts trying to hoist the anchor herself.

She makes a surprising amount of headway doing this, all things considered.

Kauri hears the order to raise the anchor and looks over at Parada- (… P-Parada's raising the anchor…? By herself…? A-Aren't anchors supposed to be crazy heavy?) He shakes himself back to reality and rushes over to aid her. "L-Lemme help!" Seeing as Kauri is Kauri, he's probably not even contributing that much.

Melvin runs to the steering wheel and pulls the ship away from the harbor. As the ship pulls away, Melvin stares at Cleo's ship wistfully...

On the dock, the lizard hears a loud noise and turns toward the ship to notice the anchor being pulled. As the ship begins to pull away from the harbor, he instinctively takes a step in its direction, then stops.

Wait... what if I...?

He briefly looks behind him again, then back to the ship, which is already some distance away. After another moment's hesitation, he runs in its direction and jumps in the water. The ocean completely submerges him for a few seconds before he manages to get his head above the surface again, gasping.

"Wait!" he shouts. Desperately, he begins paddling his way towards the ship as it moves away from him. He had never been a good swimmer, and the waves were only pushing him further back. Unless someone on board heard him right now, it was all over...

"Waaaaait! Over here!"

Melvin snaps out of his reverie when he hears a voice shouting. "Huh?"

Melvin grabs a telescope and looks around frantically, before he finally sees the lizard in the water below.

"What the-? Man overboard! Man overboard! Well... Lizard trying to board! Someone get him a rope!"

(Hearing someone shouting from off the ship, Ira is briefly nervous that someone has spotted and recognized him until Melvin confirms that it's someone trying to swim to the boat. Wait, what?)

Hey, I'll get...one...? (Ira freezes when Melvin says that the person in the water is a lizard. They aren't someone from Scale Cove who spotted him, are they? Especially since Cleo was just here?)

Duane's ear picks up the swimmer. He scurries over to the side of the ship, scaling a rope up on the railing. He peers over. What the-? What're you doing?

Ira! Get the rope, quick! Should be somewhere on-deck... He gestures over to the middle-deck of the ship, where a loose pile of rope sits.

Having come to the top deck, Nephenee hears the yelling and goes over to see the lizard desperately pushing against the waves.

"Doesn't look like he's much of a good swimmer...", the mercenary noted, "Better act fast if you wanna let him on."

The shouting on board the ship wakes up Klamptrap. He grumbles as he moves up deck to see what the commotion is and notices the lizard. He quickly swings his cannonball arm like a flail and sends it over the ship's edge, his arm's chain extending as he stands in place to form a makeshift rope.

(Ira finally unfreezes and begins heading toward the rope. "I just need to be as "un-Ira" as possible...".)

(He shifts into the form of a small, rather skinny orange dragon and grabs the rope, and throws it over the edge, failing to notice Klamptrap also trying to help as well.)

Noticing the rope and chain that have been thrown over the edge of the ship, the lizard lunges towards the rope and grabs it just in time. With some effort, he climbs it until he reaches the ship's railing.

Nice job, Klamptrap. Duane inspects the lizard man. What'n'the Hell were you doing? You fall off the dock, stranger?

(Ira helps the lizard aboard, still hoping beyond anything that the lizard isn't one of Cleo's spies.)

Who are you, stranger? (Ira asks him.) You musta really wanted to join us, huh?

The chest retracts the chain, sending it back up at a little too fast of a speed, causing the cannonball "hand" to land on the deck with a loud thud, making a noticeable dent in the floor.

Klamptrap:   Oops, my bad! That's somebody else's problem to take care of, as I'm not equipped to fix things!   

Still panting, the lizard climbs onto the deck to find several crew members around him—the orange dragon who had thrown him the rope, the treasure chest who had sent down the chain, and a small rat.

"Thanks, both of you," he says to the dragon and treasure chest, before answering the dragon's question. "My name's Victor... and, uh... can you folks please take me with you? I need to get away from this town..."

Duane steps down from the rail, down onto the deck, thinking this over. They already had a lizard fugitive.

What're you trying to run away from, stranger?

Hey, more the merrier, right? (Ira says. But first he turns to Victor and asks him a question:) Say, uh, just real quick, do the names "Ira", "Cleo", or "Scale Cove" mean anything to you?

"I, uh..." he says to the rat. "it's... kind of a long story... and, no, I've never heard any of those names before," he adds, addressing the dragon. "Listen, I'll do whatever it takes to help on this ship, just p-please don't throw me overboard!"

A long story? Well, we've got time. What trouble are we walking into here, mister...? He seems to ask for a name by pausing his sentence.

Oh really? (Ira says, relieved. Must be from one of the other reptile villages or something.) Great! So...what's up?
