Kauri stares at the Sharkazil. He could speak up to share his own thoughts, but felt that it was best not to do so. (… Oh, shoot, I forgot!) He approaches Melvin and Duane. "Excuse me, Captain, Mr. Duane… where can I get a bucket of water?"

The walls are covered with all sorts of maps, along with several pages with illustrations and descriptions of various magical items and creatures. The desk is also covered with such papers, along with some woodworking tools scrawled about.
There are two buckets on the floor, next to the desk. However, there are some papers on top of the buckets. The paper on top reads "BB Scar" Curiously, it has been stained with a green, glowing liquid.

(Huh… what's all of this?) Kauri reaches over to the pile of papers and picks them up, being mindful of the glowing stain. "BB Scar…?"

Day 1: It has been about three hours since I was scarred and thrown off the ship. Thank Neptune I thought to keep a pen, paper, and ink in the chest along with my treasures.
If Kauri looks under the desk, he will see a small chest.
Anyway, I'm not that worried about being marooned on this island, although it's certainly not ideal. My real concern is the wound that Captain Flamebeard inflicted on my face. I have such a weird feeling inside me. Thankfully I'm not bleeding a lot, but my blood is GREEN! And I feel oddly strong considering what just happened. I knew this crystal was powerful, but what is it doing to me exactly?
I will have to find out more about this stuff... if it doesn't kill me first. Ha.
Melvin goes above deck and sees Duane.
"Cous, I'm sorry. I thought this would be a good thing, for us to have a new crewmember."

(Green blood? Crystal?) He didn't know what any of it really meant, but noticed the small chest under the desk. He quickly glanced around before setting the papers aside on the ground and kneeling down. It's true that looking through other people's stuff isn't the most polite thing to do, but Kauri was never taught that particular lesson, having never been in a circumstance like this. His curiosity piqued as he did whatever he could to try and open the small chest.

Duane sighs. He had hoped Melvin wouldn't follow him up. Mel, we already have new crew members. Ten of them by my count. We shouldn't keep the animal just cuz we want it. We're taking this thing from it's life, y'know?

"..." She was putting that off, thinking about the frog and the thing apparently called a Sharkazil. Her confused look turns into a slightly saddened one.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. Just a rough patch, ya know? I'll get over it."
I'm Huney B now. Okay?"No, you're right. I shouldn't have been so quick to accept that creature. I remember hearing that these things grow bigger than ships. There's no way we can take care of something like that. I have some research papers I collected about creatures like it, I'm sure they can tell us how to send it on its way. Lemme just look in my quarters..." Melvin walks towards the captain's quarters.
Kauri won't find much in the chest, except for a few coins, a life preserver made from some animal's skin, and a locket with a picture of a smiling human woman. The inside of the chest has many more of the green stains.

He reaches inside and inspects the contents. The only one to truly hold his attention was the locket, which he stared deeply into. It reminded him of his own watch, which was still stored away in his trouser pocket. He put everything back, only to realize his hands had been stained with bright green. "Aw, shoot…" He starts trying to wipe it off on his shirt, forgetting to close the chest he was sitting next to…

Melvin gets to walk in on Kauri looking through his stuff. He's been caught red (green?) handed. The boy simply looks up at the large rat with wide eyes and glances at the open chest and stack of papers. "Uhhh…"
