ITT: We Are All Pirates' Revenge

Not wanting to cause problems, Tom follows along with the others, though he stops for a moment as he ponders whether or not Duane and Ezekiel will be able to find them later. Then again, they agreed to go off separately, so they must have a plan already, right? Either that or they didn't think things through, and either way it wasn't Tom's fault.

"so, what are we asking for? Legends, information, a twelve step guide to the treasure?"

"Oh, change of plans? Okay..." She follows after Jane and the others.

Duane sighs, leading into a snicker. Alright Private. Guess we’ll have to wait for the Honeymoon for the dual bath, then.

Melvin gets in the pawn shop and finds Jane.

"What's going on?" he asks her. "I thought these Funnybones guys weren't all that great."

The chest, not really knowing of Jane's old crew, speaks up once they're all together.

Klamptrap:   I take it whoever that ship belongs to is giving ya trouble? How about we vandalize their ship as payback or something when we're sure they're away from the ship. Maybe slash some holes in the sails.   

(Ira hurriedly follows everyone into the pawn shop.)

Is there something about them you haven't told us yet or something? (He asks Jane after Melvin.)

"Well sure, but do you wanna be seen by your old boss?!" Jane loudly whispers. "Besides, he doesn't even know I-"

She's interrupted by Klamptrap, who she turns to, readying a fist. "Wanna be pounded into mulch?! Cuz that's how you do it!" She looks outside the pawn shop, scouting carefully...

Only interrupted by a long bony finger tapping her shoulder. She already knows what's happening as she turns her head slowly, dread covering her face.

"... Hello, Jane."

...Melvin, you've made a terrible mistake. Choosing not to answer, he goes back through the bushes and stops at the lip of the creek. Looking back behind him, he elects to bathe further upstream so as to not be in view of the entrance, although he realizes that may not stop Duane from snooping regardless.

Finding a branching hanging low over the creek, he pulls off his spats and steps into the water...

Melvin turns to look at Max.

"Greetings, fellow captain. I'm sure there's... friction going on here, but I bet it's nothing we can't talk about."

(Ira instinctively strikes a defensive pose and stares threateningly at the other captain until...)

Oh, you know him, too? (He says to Melvin. He stands down.) Sorry.

"Nope," Melvin whispers to Ira. "I have no idea what I'm doing."

Oh!

(Ira jumps back up into a defensive pose again.)

Kauri freezes up immediately not long after Jane halts. His eyes are wide open, but he doesn't think he wants to turn around and look… "M-M-M-Miss Jane…?" He stutters nervously.

Gabrielle's blood runs cold. Something... familiar about this Max guy. A kind of familiarity she couldn't put her finger on, but familiarity nonetheless, coming from somewhere deep in her brain.

Did she know him? She couldn't remember anything besides her name from before... whatever happened to her 2 years ago. Maybe she knew Max from somewhere before, but where? Either way, she felt a sense of dread looking at him. She felt like running, but remained completely frozen by Ira's side.

Parada turns to face the new captain. She doesn't seem too concerned about him, but the slight tensing of her body says otherwise.

Nephenee grunts a bit and keeps her hands to her sides for now as Max appears. She is prepared to take action if need be but doesn't want to come across as aggressive at the risk of instigating something.

The skeleton takes a second to bask in the attention he's receiving, all the dread building up in the room, before finally talking.

"Well, so kind of you to notice! You all seem to know who I am, but I'll introduce myself regardless."

He stands tall, a large fellow. If scrawny, being a skeleton and all. He's adorned in generic pirate garb, ripped up but fancy top and cape aside. "I am Captain Max Funnybones. Leader of the Funnybones gang. And that." He says, pointing his skeletal finger and Jane. "Was my crew member. Mind telling me why she's with a bunch of people I don't recognize? One of them being a ''captain?'"" He looks at Melvin, an air of anger and suspicion surrounding him.

Melvin is still grinning. "Sh*t," he thinks.

Melvin isn't sure what to do. He normally just tells the truth because he doesn't like keeping secrets. Too much of a burden. But if he told Max that Jane willingly left him, who knows how he might react. At first, Melvin didn't understand why Jane left her crew so easily, but the way this captain is acting, Melvin remembers how Captain Flamebeard treated him. And he sure wouldn't want Flamebeard to think he betrayed him. Not again...

Melvin stands tall. "You wanna know? The truth is... we kidnapped her."

He glances back at the crew, then turns back to Max. "I kidnapped her."

While all this is going on, Tom can be found strolling through the pawn shop, examining the wares. He's a deckhand, not a fighter, even though necessity means he knows the basics of handling a sword. Eventually, he stumbles across a rusted flintlock and picks it up to examine closer. It's certainly nonfunctional, but the firing mechanism still moves and creates a satisfying click!

Duane whistled in patience. He was thinking about plenty. About all these new crewmates. Then about the egg. Then about Melvin. Then about this specific quest for intel. Wait a minute, the crew was probably waiting at port for them, and here Duane was, not even bathing.

Hey, Zeke! You done yet?

He starts walking toward the creek, shouting, Hey, if you're gonna put your clothes back on, do it now!

"AHH!" Zeke jumps in surprise and looks over his shoulder, still butt naked and sopping wet. He's not really embarrassed and more that he's merely startled, the initial shock fading as he realizes he should probably finish this up. "Y-yes, I was just finishing up," he lies, shaking himself off. Ah, well, he figures he's bathed himself thoroughly enough.

"Now, I'll put my clothes on, and you can turn around and bathe yourself." He reaches for his shirt.

No time. I'm getting anxious about the crew. Besides, you were right, I'm not a hard wash anyway. Let's just get back to the boat, alright?

Duane pushes some of Zeke's clothes toward him. We've probably been keeping them waiting.

Klamptrap takes a long look at Max. He quietly speaks to himself, though if one was listening carefully they can make out what he's saying.

Klamptrap:   A skeleton... wonder if this means that my old enemy is actually still around. Though if he is a skeleton, he'd probably be easier on the eyes than this Max guy as he was quite a handsome and fashionable pirate in the old days. Also, "Funnybones" is a stupid name for a group, at least my old enemy Korvales was a name to take seriously!

"Oh, alright." He hadn't taken that long, had he? Was Duane worried about his cousin...and what would there be to be worried about in a small, sedentary town such as this? Perhaps a creature as small as Duane would be wont to worry over many a large thing about him, if he wasn't already used to it by now.

Stepping out of the water and putting his shirt over his shoulder, he starts putting on his clothes, starting with his chaps and loinleather. "...you didn't see somethin', did you?" He straps his sword-in-scabbard to the belt before buckling it. With the essentials covered, he stuffs his spats into his belt for now, electing to wrangle with his shirt as he moves towards the entrance to the woods.

Why? You insecure or something? Come on, they're probably dying of anticipation over there.

Duane hurries off toward the ship.
