"I don't really care who I end up with.."
(Ira can't help but chuckle a little at Duane's insistence at partnering up with Ezekiel. He almost wonders if Duane has some ulterior motive for doing so for how persistent he is in claiming Ezekiel as his exploring buddy.)
(But thinking about that should wait for later as he realizes that he himself needs to pair off with somebody. Ira thinks about going with either Gabrielle or Melvin since he feels that he can trust them the most out of everyone and he suspects that some of the others may want to pair off with someone specific themselves. He decides to go to Gabrielle first.)
Say, Gabrielle, you want to partner up with me for this? (He asks her.)
Jane looks to Nephenee, hugging Kauri tight. "Hey hey, Kauri is mine, lady. That's well established! You can have the girl though." She looks to the rest of the party, a bit confused by this whole talk. "Now, if you don't mind me sassing in, aren't we all going to the same place? Buddying up doesn't seem very meaningful."
"Well, Zeke and Duane are going off together," says Melvin. "Other than that, I think we'll still be sticking together, the pairs are just kind of a formality. You never know what might happen."
"Speaking of pairs, who isn't in one yet? I suppose Klamptrap isn't, but where is he?"
"Hmm." Zeke rubs his face, grumbling. "Alright, Duane, you can come with me." He looks out towards the potential bathing spot. "In fact, I think we should make this timely. Get over there and get our answer quickly...if that's alright with you, Melvin."
Klamptrap was silently watching the whole scene with an amused look on his face. Then again, he did manage to sneak behind Melvin using the conversation as a distraction. The chest then loudly speaks up while still behind Melvin.
The chest laughs maniacally before continuing.
Anyways, thinking of teaming up with Nephenee. That lass seems tough.
Melvin stumbles forward and falls to the ground as Klamptrap spooks him. His mask falls off.
Although he tries to cover it with his arm, and he's at an angle where nobody can get a good look at it, there appears to be a strange green light coming from his face. He quickly puts the mask back on. He gets back up and dusts himself off.
Oh boy, everyone in the crew who saw that would not forget it for a long time. Especially not Zeke, Melvin figures.
"Right... should have expected that."
"Very well, you can go with Nephenee."

Duane seems content with how the conversation has went. Iím all for getting there post-haste. Shall I climb on your shoulder, Mister Riles?
He sees Melvinís mask debacle, and gets concerned for a moment, before seeing Duane set it back on. He is relieved.

...Ezekiel sees there is something more to Melvin's eyes than them simply being lost, or even to Melvin himself for his eyes to give off such a glow.
"I would...prefer you walk," Ezekiel answers Duane flatly, still trying to to process he saw. He looks back towards his destination, then starts off without another word.
(Ira turns and looks upon hearing the noise, just barely catching the odd green glow coming from Melvin. He's confused, but doesn't think much of it.) Odd...
Oh, weíre going? Alright! Alright! Duane follows behind Ezekiel, starting to whistle.
"Ack! M-Miss Jane, y-you're-!Ē He was going to say 'squeezing/crushing me,' but he manages to wriggle himself into a position where heís more comfortable and lets out a relieved sigh. Now that he isn't running the risk of suffocation, he tries to answer her question. "I think we're splitting up to gather information?"

Zeke can stand to listen to Duane's whistling as he walks towards the creek, though as he brings them closer to their destination, the burden of needing to tell the truth weighs more and more heavily on him.
"I...feel I should clarify something, Duane. And this is why I wanted your cousin to come with me and not you."
Duane breaks his whistle. Is there an old man, Zeke? His statement is delivered with the same general contentment of most of his statements. No noticeable anger or staunchness.
"No, no, there isn't." He laughs. "It's probably a little strange to you, or perhaps not considering all someone your size'd need to bathe is a bowl, but I can't go more than a day anymore without needing a bath. There's a creek in the woods beside the town, I'll bathe myself there."
Still he can't help but think of the warm, steamy baths he's had in the homes of his patrons and lovers. "I'd prefer attendance by a gaggle of pretty maids, but I'll have to make do for now, being so far from austerity."
Listen Zeke, I donít care if you wanna bathe. I just wanna make sure you donít feel like ya have to lie to us. Youíre a good guy, and weíre morally so-so. The way I see it, the two of us could really hit it off, ya know?
Duane looks about. We might be able to finagle a bath in one of these houses, yíknow. Donít have to ďdisrupt the fishĒ, yíknow? But, hey, if youíre all return to nature, Iíd be fine slumming it, yídig?
Zeke is a little suspicious of Duane's language, though he does make a good point. Perhaps he should've simply said he needed a bath, and the crew would've let him go off by himself...although, the way Melvin looked at him, he probably would've made someone else follow him regardless.
"Yes, I...dig..." Noticing a path between two houses leading into the woods, Zeke follows it down a small hill. Pushing through a couple concealing bits of shrubbery, he happens upon the creek.
Before he proceeds with anything, he turns around and gives Duane a rather no-nonsense look. "If you'll wait here."
What, I canít bathe too? I slept in a shot glass earlier, I need a wash. Duane maintains his casual manner.

"... Oh, well that makes sense." Jane says, loosening her grip regardless. "Hey Mel! Do we have any leads aside from..."
Once she looks around, she spots a very familiar ship glaring down at her from the dock. The large size to fit its big crew, the ship mast with unmistakable big two skulls painted on.
How the hell did she miss that?
Her face completely pale, she picks Kauri up. "We should be off too. Let's go." She says, walking off in a random direction.
Heís suddenly swept off his feet again and carried by Jane. "W-Woah, okay! Okay, but where are we going, Miss Jane?"

Melvin looks on at the ship with a combination of envy (Dang, these guys have a proper ship.) and relief (That's not Flamebeard's flag, thank Neptune.)
Still, he sees that Jane is afraid, and he begins to suspect what's going on. "Oh, boy. Come on, crew, let's get some distance from these newcomers." Melvin starts to follow Jane.
(Ira looks at the ship. He can tell just from looking that it's not Cleo's ship. It looks nothing like Scale Cove's boats. Given Jane's reaction, though, he suspects it must have to do with her old crew.)
Uh, yeah, let's get going. (He says, heading off.)
His casual manner is not doing him any favors in Ezekiel's eyes. "Duane, you don't understand, someone's gonna need to make sure no one stumbles in on me."
"Anywhere that isn't here works." She glances at the stores and inns surrounding the group as she quickly ducks into the pawn shop with Kauri, beckoning for the others to follow.
"Get in, get in, get in!!"
