I did. But I also expected Fujimoto to expect that, and thus play it straight instead. But it appears Fujimoto expected that we would expect the unexpected, and threw in the twist.

…Yeah, that's better. Though I kinda wished Denji would be able to connect with a normal girl as a contrast to devils of all sorts.

For extra points, though, it's not every day that you see the phrase "I'll protect you and make you happy" said by the girl to the guy.

That color page is something one would usually see in an ecchi.

It's funny because the rough artstyle would make you think the girls can't be sexy. But oh boy.

It's like Fujimoto took everything about regular Shonen and just said, lets do the exact opposite of that.

The chapter on Mangastream has a translation of the Russian part, though I couldn't tell you how accurate it is. Seems to be some kind of song.

It amuses me that Denji specifies that "tried to kill me" is a hard pass, given that he's gravitated to the most coolly homicidal ladies around.

Hey, Reze might be a possible KGB assassin and Makema is a walking force of nature, but they haven't tried to kill him. Big points for that.

Reze is Bomb Devil, and tries to kill Denji, because she realised Denji likes someone else beside her. Beam rescued Denji, but Rese goes after them.

• Beam to the rescue, I knew he was following them.
• Agree that it's a little sad she isn't a Badass Normal, but on the other hand her Devil design is hella cool. Yandere Russian Bombshell is going to get her man.

Oh, and I guess she's now out by Denji's criteria (which were "female" and "hasn't tried to kill me"). Too bad.

It's interesting how Denji isn't completely unique, and others like him keep showing up. Obviously it isn't an easy/normal thing, since otherwise I'd imagine the Bureau would want agents like him instead of people that are just Contracted with a captured Devil.

But besides Denji, all the others so far have been working for the Gun Devil. Bets the Gun Devil itself is a similar being?

Anyways, on the manga... I need to catch up like seriously given I took a hiatus due to the mangarock fiasco.

And the plot thickens:

• Beam is terrified, but willingly to die to protect "Master Chainsaw".
• Some random freelance hunters distract Reze, and Beam manages to escape.
• Aki training with some guys from the 2nd Division, who want him to rejoin them. Angel is jealous that he gets to die in the next 5 years, because living is too much work.
• Beam arrives at the training facility, and warns Aki that Bomb is coming. He slips up and reveals that Bomb is Gun's partner. Aki presses for more information, but Beam says he'll be killed and promised Makima...
• Reze shows up, claiming to be chased by a devil. No one falls for it, and Aki's friend from the 2nd mentions that she looks familiar. Reze prepares to transform again.

Huh… Why would Makima forbid Beam to reveal crucial information about the Gun Devil?

And damn, Reze's power seems broken as fuck.

Well, I mean.....she's Bomb. I've seen it pointed out elsewhere that her devil-head is based on Fatman, so it makes sense she's so powerful.

If calling someone or something da bomb wasn't out of fashion....well, it'd be pretty on the nose for Reze.

Not really surprised by the Makima thing, since at this point I'd find it weirder if she wasn't doing a bunch of shady-ass schemes in the background. Girl doesn't even let her own people know what devil she's contracted with.
