As per the latest director's letter on GBF in general, more character reveals will be set for the game's anniversary this March.
There's also a note that character roster picks were primarily based on what was needed for the game, not popularity as noted in the example with Katalina being the "easy-to-use" character and a currently unrevealed character was picked to be the grappler.

Did some looking into this and it turns out Cygames is one of Evo's biggest sponsors.
So this is going to get a slot at Evo guaranteed even if I don't think it'll catch on at all in the west.
The bit about the grappler and not just picking popular characters leads me to believe they'll probably try to include a few characters to help, at least.

Honestly none of that sounds like it's going to be a negative issue, since so far the game's shaping up to look like a lot of fun.
There's a Granblue action RPG coming out too, so Cygames is definitely doing its best to really expand this franchise.
Also some competitive FighterZ players may end up moving on to this game solely because it's the newest Arc Sys game and they can't play FighterZ competitively.

They won't if it doesn't have an audience in the west.
You'd be surprised. Granblue not only has an option to switch entirely to english if you have a japanese IOS or Android account, but the games themselves are slowly increasing in popularity in the west, nonetheless because of the announced of both the Platinum Games Action RPG and this game.
The anime did really well too, for what its worth.
Interesting bit from the recent Arc Live; Cygames approaching Arc Sys to make this game was before Dragon Ball Fighter Z was announced and close to three years in development.
Release is planned to be simultaneous worldwide
Versus planned to run at 60 FPS
They had a full interview on the two GBF console games, so more details when that comes out tomorrow.

New trailer showing off Lowain who also has Lady Katapillar and Yggdrasil as part of his moveset
Oh man, didn't expect these goofballs. I love the fighting style already.
Yggy is a huge (no pun intended) surprise though. I was wondering if the summons/Primal Beasts would appear in the game without Gran needing to be there, and I guess this shows that they can. Though I wonder about the specifics. I don't know if they already gave info about this yet, but...
Like, it's possible that she is specifically a part of Lowain's moveset, but I think there's a possibilty that the summons might be interchangeable in this game. Sort of like how the summons in Dissidia NT work.
I say this because Yggdrasil's animations make me think that the only thing that would need to be tweaked would be the character(s) she's interacting with. It'd be comparable to the Instant Kill animations from Guilty Gear Xrd, I think.
It looks like this will be much more of an Arc Sys game than Fighterz is and I'm glad to see that. I don't know anything about Granblue but this guy and his boys look like they'll be a lot of fun to mess around with.
Closed beta is now open for applications, it's testing the online features.
Some actual in-game footage with the teaser
I really wish the next trailers will focus on new playable characters by batch. Well Lowain technically counts as 5 Granblue chars in 1, but he takes up only 1 slot in the roster. I think it's actually an old ArcSys trend though... having to wait months for a new trailer, only for it to reveal only a single new playable character.
I would like to see the roster expand for at least 3 new playable chars every released teaser. At this current rate, we could probably end up with a dozen characters in the base game. I hope ArcSys won't lock up half of the total roster as DLCs this time around. That decision was an Internet Backdraft for Cross Tag Battle Fans before.
Ladiva confirmed. She's the first character to not be represented on the logo.
Looks like they incorporated elements of the Luchador class to make her wrestling even more over the top
Also finally a character whose primary color motif isn't blue
This is the fun part in being a complete newcomer to a franchise adaptation.
I have no idea who I just saw but damn if it wasn't amazing.

This game's cast is definitely very colorful so far.
Quick rundown: Ladiva's a wrestler who works for the arena part of the Jewel Resort Casino and believes passionately in The Power of Love.

Festiva looked fun to use, but jeez what a character haha.
Actually warming up to this...
Noooot what I was hoping for when I wished for an Amazonian Beauty but she sure as hell looks like a lot of fun to play as.
Finally got full footage of the Daigo/Fuudo match. Couple of notes regarding the game for those who can't watch it:

Is there some sort of a mechanic to break away and avoid being pummeled by combos? (Kinda like the Burst mechanic in BlazBlue?)
No Combo Breaker moves in this game. Not that I think it needs it honestly, the combos in this game seem way more grounded and limited than traditional ASW games, so it wouldn't be like DBFZ where combos feel like they go on forever.

Lancelot looks like a simplified Leo Whitefang.
Everyone check your emails if you signed up for the beta, codes have gone out. I was one of the lucky ones to get in.
