As part of Cygames' 367-step plan to become king of all Japanese media, they've got Arc System Works to make a new fighting game in the vein of Guilty Gear Xrd and Dragon Ball Fighter Z. It will release on PS4 in 2019. No word on localization but the Japanese website has been entirely translated into English so it's incredibly likely.

if they don't add narmaya they've fucked up
And just like that, I am interested in GBF. I hope they don't exclude the Fe MC or hide her behind DLC though.
All the weapons in the logo correspond to characters with four of them already in (Ferry, Charlotta, Katalina, and Lancelot) so it seems like a soft confirmation that the characters (Metera, Vaseraga, Zeta, and Percival) that correspond to the other weapons will get in.
I think this is the Blue Team working on it (Rather fitting, since its Granblue their working on) too.
According to comments by both ASW combat designer Pachi and Famitsu, gameplay will be simpler in design (ie. there'll be a one-button system for specials as an option), air combos will be limited, and there'll be lots of single player content.
Teasing some esports stuff down the line with GBF Versus.
Most important takeaway is Charlotta's crown has a hitbox.

Holy crap! It looks fantastic.

Of note, the game is currently 60% done, online versus and online ranked versus modes will be included, there'll almost definitely be DLC characters, and arcade version of the game is a maybe.
I'm honestly just glad Arcsys is getting the recognition I felt they deserved since creating Guilty Gear Xrd and are making more games in that style. I'm pretty much getting this and the Kill la Kill game almost entirely based on the presentation alone (I'm aware of Kill la Kill but never sat and watched it, and I'm semi-active in Granblue).
The success of Dragon Ball FighterZ really help put them on the map it feels like.
Yes I'm aware of that. I guess it's more that I'm seeing more people in general excited about their upcoming games beyond the usual (anime) fighting game crowd. Granted, I'm probably coming from bias as IRL I had to go out of my way to prove that DBFZ wasn't the company's first game done up in that style.

Arc Sys has always made games like this. They made a Hokuto no Ken game a while back, several Dragon Ball games before Fighterz, Persona 4 Arena, and probably others I'm not aware of.
Fighterz's success just makes this one inherently pop out more.
I have absolutely no knowledge of Granblue Fantasy.
But one look at that Smol queen's intro animation and I have both been sold and found my main.

Better ask this now, but given that's based on a gacha game, how many characters would be good, and any other candidate?
I'm guessing it'll end up at around twenty as the final count before DLC. Guilty Gear Xrd had fifteen characters at launch and that was their first foray into this style.
Personally, I'm hoping for Vira and the Black Knight.
GBF has a humongous cast to pull from with a variety of movesets to develop
Yeah seriously. There's also a ton of popular characters among that huge group, enough to probably have the fighting game roster consist of just those picks.
I suspect they'll keep the roster in the low side for now, maybe not more than 15 without DLC? As with every other fighter, I personally don't care who exactly they pick as long as the roster is diverse in personality and fighting style. I like almost the entire roster in Guilty Gear despite only really playing a few characters.
My main wish is that we get a good number of Harvin and Draph characters, because I have a feeling that the Human and Erune races might get more characters overall.

The ten weapons in the logo seems to indicate a starting point for the roster.
The knife was identified, it corresponds to Lowain, which hmm I actually could see as an interesting fighter if they bring in Elsam and Tomoi.
My personal hopes are for either Clarisse, Cagliostro, Orchid, Jamil, Ippatsu, or Nicholas to be playable. Also Silva if only because it seems like she does way more close combat than actual sniping
I doubt that the weapons in the logo are everyone. At the very least, Eugen is in the story mode.

Hence 'starting point'
I think Io and Rosetta were also in the background of the Golonzo stage
x3 Is that a ruggedly handsome catboy? I think I might be becoming a fan of this.
Plenty of character art to peruse through. Soon as I upgrade my phone I'll probably delve into gacha hell while I'm at it.
This... instead of my Jojo or Yu Yu Hakusho game...
...haaaaaaaah. My day will come.
For the record, Granblue is more of a mobile-like browser game, and while it has a mobile app, from what I was told most players recommend just playing it on your PC browser. I personally play it on my phone's Chrome browser (since it doesn't take up any space on my phone itself) and it works just fine.
It's also fairly old and I don't think you need a particularly high end or recent phone to run it.
I have a blackberry.
It plays brickbreaker.
But hey, a browser version works too.
No you don't want to run the app version. Its the inferior one. The browser version is seen as the main version to use.
I mean don't know if it will catch on like Blaz Blue or GG, but they can try.
