You could also reverse the flow and have Motaro suffer a specific fatality everybody performs on him.

If they really wanted Motaro back, they could bring him back. But he's not that high up on the priority list.

Geras' second fatality looks pretty easy to implement on Motaro, actually. Conceptually, anyway. Just have his horse butt embedded in the sand so only the very front of him sticks out.

That would require extra work and it's more than likely not worth the effort.

I feel like if it was possible, they would have done so by now.

Except people do like that Takeda. Don't forget, everyone's someone's favorite. Plus I've seen more than a few asking for him.

Actually I thought Takeda was one of the more well liked of the Kombat Kids due to his whip-style gameplay & being Scorpions apprentice.

I've seen fans of all four, but Takeda especially seems to be well liked.

Takeda was robbed. I wanted all 4 to come back for further development, but I was legit surprised Takeda wasn't in. Kenshi too, like it's weird none of that lineage is being repped.

Takeda isn't in the game because he heard Frost might be in it and he knew she's spend the entire game trying to fight him because of their clans' former rivalry.

Isn't Kenshi hugely popular, too? Like so popular he got into 9 as DLC as the sole post MK 3 character?

You can say what you want about the kids but him not making it into the roster would be downright bizarre.

Until stated otherwise, i will assume Takeda and Kenshin are out killing Red Dragons.

By the way, did anyone here get to see the character profiles that were on the main MK site which has now been taken down?

Not as bizarre as Reptile or Mileena not making it in, two characters who have yet to be konfirmed.

And who are probably not in going by the leaks. Though there are Rumors that Mileena could be a Secret character, it's unconfirmed at this time.

Another problem I have with Nether Realm's roster in general.

Seriously, what is with this fandom. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE LEFT OUT EVERY TIME. Except Armageddon, which was ass. Go ahead and miss them. I will. Mileena was my main in X. If she’s not in although leaks suggest she still might be, I’ll be disappointed, but the game’s not ruined, I’ll just play as other characters more.

Moving away from this topic, the mysterious 29th slot on the website’s roster page is probably for Kronika. Shocked to see almost no one on Reddit getting that.

In terms of DLC guesses, like I said earlier, Kombat Pack (1?) is six characters, so that’s likely two guests (let’s say Spawn and Michael Myers for now; hard to guess guests and there’s been some suggestion of them) and four MK kharacters.

Historically, one of them is new, either completely new, based on Urban Legend of Zelda, or simply previously unplayable (Skarlet, Tremor, Triborg sort of). This one is borderline impossible to guess, but if I had to pick someone, I think it would be cool to see the Great Kung Lao be playable.

As for the other three, I think Havik has a really strong chance of making it. He has been one of the most requested characters for three games now, is basically the only character from the 3D era people actively want to see again, and was featured prominently in the comics.

Now the other two...I don’t think past DLC would be DLC again, and I don’t think anyone who was playable in X will be DLC this time. I feel like one of them being a ninja is likely, so let’s go with Smoke (assuming Enenra doesn’t count as a new enough character to be that slot). And it’s a bit of a cliched pick, but I think there’s a decent chance that Sindel is in there too. She’s a reasonably popular female original trilogy character who sat out the last game.

tl;dr: My DLC guesses are Michael Myers, Spawn, Havik, Smoke, Sindel, and someone new (possibly the Great Kung Lao).

Moving on, I know that there are rumblings of Mileena, Shinnok, and Shang Tsung being secret characters, and the math seems to bear that out, but does anyone know why those three? All I can find is people assuming it’s them right away when the leak hit.

I'm still not entirely sure those three being in is true, they weren't on the image leak.

I hesitate to believe that it is those three. There are undeniably three extra slots when you account for 24 base roster, Shao Kahn, and six DLC characters. Whether they are even unlockable or if they are a second season of DLC remains to be seen.

Are we even doubting that a second season of DLC will be coming down the pike?

I still think Takeda and Kung Jin will be two of the slots. The Kombat Kids were really popular, much moreso than any new The Hero character that Mortal Kombat's ever tried to design. It makes perfect marketing sense to split them up, only put two of them in the game, and then later down the line be like, "Hey, cough up some money if you want the other two."

You can make awesome new stuff to sell people in DLC, but it's so much easier to carve out awesome stuff they liked in the previous core game and sell that instead. With a group like the Kombat Kids, you can do both. Cassie and Jacqui are the hook. They satisfy fans of the new characters long enough for those fans to buy in, but allow them to get nice and frustrated when they can't have the whole team. Then you turn around and go, "Yo, I can fix that for $4.99."

BOOM. Instant sale.

You are seriously overestimating the popularity of the (gag) “Kombat Kids” (what a horribke nickname; how did that catch on?).

The internet is a bubble, sure, but reactions to Jacqui and Cassie being in the game was decidedly mixed.

And while I’m not the biggest fan of their DLC practices, I don’t see them taking characters who were in the previous game and making you pay extra for them this time. It’s infinitely more likely that they’re just not in the game at all.

And finally, a second season of DLC is not guaranteed. Injustice 2 only ever had the 9 characters that came with the Ultimate Edition, so it is entirely within the realm of possibility that the six that are advertised are all there is.

It alsosounds like you're underestimating their popularity.

Buy i get what you mean about the nickname, all four characters are in their 20s after all.

I’m not underestimating them. They were reasonably popular. They have their fans. They also have people who don’t like them and don’t want them taking two spots in the game let alone four.

Thinking that they’re being held back to be DLC and that there’s a huge contingent of people who would be chomping at the bit to buy it is, frankly, ridiculous.

Meanwhile me, thinking that 24+6 characters seems too small a roster for a game that is basically "timelines-wide Armaggedon".

It’s 25+6+3, actually.

I didn't count the preorder bonus and the bosses, to be honest. Saw no sense in counting characters that may not be accessible to players.

As I didn't have access to MKX, was Goro accessible via DLC after the preorder?

Yeah, he was a throw-in for Kombat Pack 2.

And the 3 aren’t bosses. We’re not sure what they are yet, but they’re playable.
