Over on the Complete Monster clean up thread, Orcus was recently approved and a detailed effort post pointed out just how active Orcus has been throughout Dungeons and Dragons as a monstrous villain. The trope refers to how a villain will often simply sit back and never directly challenge the heroes, but Orcus himself is not really an example even though he is the Trope Namer. My point is that the trope could really use a new name at this stage as it doesn't really make sense for the Trope Namer to also be a non example. I'm sure with a little discussion a better name can be decided.

I think we'll need some more evidence. That a trope namer isn't an example isn't by necessity a problem; if it leads to misuse or misunderstanding then it would be. On top of that we have quite a backlog here. So closing. If evidence is forthcoming, feel free to make a new thread.
