Bozo's Office

Bozo popped open a bottle of whiskey. "Well, the first thing you'll need to do is learn to control yourself. I can try and protect you from his influence, but emotional control is a tricky business. There's still a chance that he may incite an outburst strong enough to break through it. And as I said, he wouldn't have been able to do a thing if it hadn't already been there. I'll work on looking up an appropriate protection spell, but in the meantime I'll be having you make regular visits to see the therapist. As long as there's a chance Dementius can affect you, you need to remain calm. Or at least as much as you can. Which at the moment you aren't doing the best job of."

Vivian- Team Ninja

She looked up from the desk she was tearing apart. They'd decided to hit different floors and work their way down. Viv had chosen Human Resources, while she thought Eve and Clay had mentioned R&D. It was pretty deserted up here; clearly Gaea for all their faults had well-practiced exit drills.

So far she'd found very little, which wasn't surprising in an age of computers and no time to crack 'em. Two flash drives were bouncing in her pockets, however. One was labeled SQUAD, and the other was blank except for a biohazard sticker... Up ahead were a couple of really fancy looking-offices, however. Clearly, the team downstairs were having a ball-she'd seen big RED ALERT messages flashing on every screen, and once the building seemed to shake.

Squad 4 – Gaea HQ

When the team split up, Iuvem decided to the "Projects" floor. He quickly took the first computer he saw there. He browsed through it. There were some USB drives (connected to it) that were labeled as    FUTURE_PLANS   ,    BECOME_HUMAN    and    SAINT_ACADEMY   . Iuvem quickly grabbed them.

Bozo's Office

Dante...calm yourself, he thought.

He now looked serene and calm.

Breathe in...   , he inhaled,    ...and breathe out...   , he exhaled, closing his eyes.

His eyes opened, calmly staring at the drinking mage.

I am calm now...   , he said politely,    and I will try to be in this stable state for a possibly good amout of time, sir   , he said, putting his hand on his forehead, soldier style.

Evelyn – Splinter Celling It Up

Well, she wasn't expecting this whole thing to go this well. But here she was, sneaking around somehow. Her overabundance of hair had been an issue, but she'd managed to tame it by tying it back. The girl refused to have anything sharp go near it.

Or her in general.

Clad in all black, loose-fitting clothing, the only real giveaway was the glow from her Third Eye. But whenever a guard crossed her path, she'd instinctively squeeze it shut out of fright anyway. So that was taken care of. But nonetheless, she was surprisingly stealthy. She attributed it to her original escape. She had planned it out, after all.

But now, she was in what looked like an office. Sticking to the shadows, she waited as a couple of guards left the room and sightjacked them to see if there were any more coming. With her aerial vision and her ability to see through the immediate walls, it didn't take much for her to take a risk once the close was clear. As much as her heart leapt into her throat with each misplaced step.

Rattling through rusty lockers and rifling through stuck-together stacks of files was by far the most stressful part of the process. She was no good with computers, but she tried her best to get as much off of them as possible. The real kicker came when she found the projector.

SUPER EVIL PLANS

  • Step 2: ???

  • Step 3: profit

GARY YOU GOD-DAMNED #$&%ING SIMPLETON
– Tony

Well it was nice to know not all of them were evil super-geniuses.

Masking her pity for the poor Gary (who would've undoubtedly been fired in multiple ways for doing something as stupid as that) she fiddled with the projector for a few moments before giving up and lifting it in its entirety—rotating it in her grasp as she peered into it with her Third Eye in order to work it out. Upon finding the slides (and mentally facepalming) she pulled them out—stashing them in her temporary knapsack she had taken for this mission and proceeding onward. Stifling giggles the whole way.

It wasn't every day you found a literal PowerPoint presentation of a villain's plans.

Zach - Ninja Squad - Gaea HQ

Maybe splitting up would be for the best. As everyone scattered to HR and labs and everything, Zach decided to split off and handle his way through a few of the Research and development stages of the building.

The loud chaos outside made him pause for a moment out of fear, and he found himself wanting nothing more than to grab the Star Ball and let Yoko feel something...but she was a fucking god now. She'd be fine, beyond fine. Everyone in that team was gonna be okay.

They better be. Karaoke was starting to sound really fun.

His sifting through the files of a few filing cabinets, while tendrils of ink did the same and grabbing as much as they could and sifting through.

Mundanifier Concoction and Testing practices

Mundanifier testing subjects 1-6

Mundanifier known errors

Scientific properties of pineapples

That last one made him double take and took it anyway. Before he left the room though, two tendrils grabbed onto two computer towers and dragged them into his form. From there, he made his way back to the door.

Infiltration

Sam looked at everything he could find. Damaging cameras, even if it was just enough to not show the intruders, seemed like a logical move.

Of course, the fake villain attack was working decently, but better to not let them see anything, especially if Zach has anything to "say". The less links they have to them, the better.

Now, better follow the money.

While the better part of it kind of goes over his head, it's obvious that the money isn't being monitored, besides going into financing some shady groups.

Good thing they are such control freaks, keeping track of your money worked on our favor

Why would they keep that? He figured it was for mutually assured destruction. After all, better have a betrayal insurance.

Picking up as many US Bs and such as he could, he left, trying to leave everything else in the state he found it.

Retreat should be soon, and the getaway must be swift.

Villain Group

Martin turned toward the charging guards, crossing his arms over his body as the lasers struck against the black armor before charging toward them like a bull blinded with red. The armor itself wasn't of the highest quality, and he could already feel the heat from inside of it as the lasers did a more then effective job burning away at it. But the warped metal still held and if he could get within close range none of the guards would be able to stop him from tossing them like rag dolls, unless they had some surprise in store for them.

Still things had gone well, drawing out their security forces like this put them ahead of schedule, and given that the police hadn't arrived yet they could stand to cause a bit more damage here. While part of him wanted to think that most of these guards were just doing a job, he couldn't allow himself to feel bad at this moment. He would just have to work extra hard in the future to make up for this event.

Infiltration Group

While the others went about here and there Clay followed behind, entering rooms they had exited and planting what looked like small multicolored marbles near the center of the rooms. Ever since the jump to and back from the future the belt around his waist had seemingly developed, or rather had gained back, a shocking number of abilities. While it still lacked the charge to travel through time it could pull off a number of nifty tricks. Like say, storing an explosive reaction inside of a frozen moment in time. It was a bit tricky to pull off, but the moment he asked the belt to drop the holding field the natural result would be a full force explosion from each of the tiny balls.

Once he was satisfied that the explosion would cover most of their tracks he went to one of the computer terminals in the area marked 'accounting and sat at the head desk, tapping his belt. An odd wave of motion went over the belt, before it spat out a port which he quickly jacked into the computer itself. From there the belt produced enough power to force it on despite the rolling blackouts throughout the building and began to dig.

Gaea had competent levels of computer security, at the very least they weren't the kind of people to leave sticky notes with the passwords on the side of their desks.

Hacking Complete the voice from the belt rang in his head.

It had taken almost ten seconds, quite the feat when faced with an advanced system AI from years in the future. From there Clay dug his greedy little fingers into their financial records with the AI's help and collected everything they needed, before wrapping it up in a nice email that was forwarded to people who would be interested in where all of the money Gaea had was going. The IRS was apparently even scarier then the law in this time, or at least that what the 'finances and heroism' class had said, so he made sure they were the first on the mailing list.

"Okay folks, team downstairs probably doesn't want to be coverin us for much longer, anyone getting out the front door can follow me."

Clay undid the tactical outfit he had been wearing to reveal a size to large button up and pair of khaki pants, careful to straighten out a tacky tie and put on a pair of large glasses. After that it was a simple matter of hunching slightly and he seemed like an utterly different person.

Shane - Villain Attack

Shane in the form of a gigantic wolf suddenly leaped up and around, letting loose what looked like a stream of mist from his giant wolf form's mouth that would promptly start to freeze up any of the drones caught up in the attack. He did admit it had been too long since he made use of this form.

In fact, it was the furthest he ever went since starting the school year here.

The monstrous wolf then formed another ice pillar to give a vaulting location, waiting for anything further to occur.

Its way too much fun to really push Gaea's shit in. I've wanted to do this for a long fucking time.

Van - Infiltration

Van meanwhile made use of his familiars - having a stream of bats ready and looking out for anyone coming around, hiding in the darkness. There were even further spies looking out for enemies on the move toward them in the form of spiders.

Van pumped a fist in joy when he heard the hacking was done.

"Excellent! I must admit I am curious to see about the job done by our friends outside."

Vivian- Make Like a Tree And Leave

Viv had crossed something off her bucket list and she wasn't even 20! Stumbling down the stairs, she decided that it was a fool's game and pried open the elevator shaft. She tied her belt around it, took a deep breath and jumped.

The air whooshed past her hair, and for a brief moment, she relaxed. It was like being on a slide when she was little-nothing to worry about but the sensations of fun.

Then her surroundings came back into focus and she clamped her feet around the cable. Though Vivian would swear she smelled burning rubber, the downward plummet stopped on the third floor. The girl opened those doors and crawled out, grinning. As she passed a security office, she carefully tucked an explosive ball filled with hallucinogenic gas into a file drawer. ''Enjoy that on some Monday morning." She shucked out of her black combat outfit into a pair of jeans, a work shirt and a fluorescent vest with the insignia of the city power company on it and added a yellow hard hat and paper mask to the outfit. Now she'd look like just another person responding to an emergency. Ducking through a fire door, she slipped down to the lobby.

Outside Gaea HQ

The guards and drones kept on coming as the so-called villains continued their assault. Their ranks were slowly thinning out, but they weren't going to go down without a fight. They kept on firing their blasts, their strikes coming closer and closer to making a solid hit as they honed their aim. The longer this went on, the greater chance they'd blow everyone sky high.

Speaking of which, a noise like an eggbeater could be heard overhead. A small group of helicopters could be seen moving in from off to the west. Two laser-cannons were attached to their underbellies, and they were loaded for bear. The guards and the drones were bad enough, but having to deal with helicopters would only make things that much more difficult. Still, the infiltrators should have been making their escape any minute now. They could keep fighting if they wanted, but perhaps it was in their best interests to get out while they still could.

Villain Group

With the arrival of air support this fight slipped out of a brawl where they could control their environment into something they weren't ready for. There wasn't a safe way to take them down without harming the pilots and gunners, so that meant it was time to pick up and go. "Everyone, scatter," Martin hefted the blade onto his back and turned from the group of security guards he had been fighting and bolted. In this kind of situation everyone would have their own ways of escape, picking a single path would make it to easy to track them.

Thankfully with his speed and having studied this part of the city beforehand he knew how to best get lost in the confusion, entering into a abandoned building that had been set up earlier. He quickly stripped off the armor and gathered it in the center of the room. "Okay," he placed an odd looking device at the center, hitting a red button and leaping back. The device beeped for a moment, and suddenly pulled the armor against it in an invisible barrier and compressed all of it to the size of a penny. A penny with the density of a full set of knights armor of course, conservation of mass and all. He picked it up and whistled at its weight. "Huh, well okay then," he looked at his phone's watch and nodded to himself. "Another ten minutes and then I go. Maybe Mahvash and I could go catch a movie if she isn't tired."

Infiltration

Clay passed into the lower room without much fuss, looking appropriately terrified of the situation and being escorted to a safe evacuation zone once everything was done. Thankfully he managed to slip away before the police could come for questioning and was on the wind in a matter of moments. Once he was sure everyone in the team had escaped he tapped his belt and removed the time bubbles around the explosives he had left behind, most likely destroying the area they had been investigating and giving Gaea one last bit of clean up to do. "Now that is a smooth operation."

Villain Force - Covering the Escape

Mahvash whistled at the giant wolf joining the fight. Ragnorok-y. I love it. Between that and the nice show of Martin juggling guards, she rose and dove, straight through the pavement and the earth.

She had already bypassed the guards and bore through any every underground wire, bit of piping and support system that went to the building. And she emerged in a cloud of dust of stone and unpleasant sewage, all the better... She maneuvered into the laser fire with her grimy bubble and hit the nearest chopper head on.

"'Xcuse me. I wanna drive," Mahvash gave the pilot no time for debate, tossing him back and sending the thing into several flips to toss him around and dodge fire from the other choppers before diving the helicopter just over the heads of the force pursuing the fleeing villains.

The chopper did the drunken honeybee dance around the guards and the other helicopters, buzzing up and down the HQ's courtyard with rotating blades very well displayed. Inside, this was the result of one woman-ish swinging and toying with the stick like an arcade game (and covering the fine control she actually used to avoid just crashing).

"Don't turn the dial kids," she yelled out the window to the demons. "I'll get it." Then she finally just snapped the stick in half. "Huh," she smiled cheerfully. "Well what now?" She scratched her head, whistling. "Okay, out, you're distracting me," The moment they reached ground level and were somewhat right-side up, she pushed the former pilot out as the chopper skid across the open ground to the entrance, leaving the blades to ruin the door and the bulk of the machine to block it.

Mahvash herself rolled with the momentum of the crash and turned a skid into the ground into a dive underground, boring a hole to nowhere before vanishing and taking the jammer with her.

Abandoned Building

"Could a tired woman do this?" Mahvash appeared, shimmying before Martin, almost nose-to-nose and less importantly hovering upside down. She'd long since abandoned her earlier wear, undoing it during her roundabout, mixed movement route to the place. By the time Martin saw her, she'd restored her usual appearance.

She wrapped her arms around the man, suddenly noticing how hard the tv superhero upside down kiss thing was. This had been a great day out already, even accounting for the constraints, but, "Well, we could see something. Perhaps a stage show though?"

Sam managed to sneak as silently as possible, using any confusion to keep from being noticed. Just had to use a couple crystals to keep people from looking directly at his face and he was out.

"It was pretty good, but we have to finish them off" He whispered.

It's never good to leave a job halfway done. Particularly now.

Villain group (observer)

Ryuu had managed to hide while the others were doing their thing. Of course, the odds were that the building would get demolished before the others got out, but...

Abandoned Building

Kiss Mahvash was always an interesting experience, through he had to admit the upside down method seemed a great deal less intuitive. But still a fun time. Once she was properly aligned with gravity again he returned the kiss and thought for a moment. "I think my mom got tickets to the 'Saint Musical' in town, maybe we could stop by and see if she would be willing to let us use them." he blushed suddenly as he realized what he had just said. Was it too early to be taking her to his house to meet his parents? Well it wasn't a proper meeting so much but they would still be meeting her. What if his mom tried to bring out the baby pictures? Could he somehow develop the ability to start fires with his mind to prevent such a thing?

His mind only came back under his control when he mentally kicked himself for worrying so much. "If you want to do something smaller I think some local theater group is doing an all day performance of plays."

Sally nodded to Ryuu and followed along.

"You did great out there. Hopefully this will be the last push we need though, given everything I think it will be." Grabbing his hand, she said:

"And...when it is all over, we can all be okay." Sure it was a little awkward but, she did her best to be reassuring.

"We're so close to stopping Gaea. We can't afford to falter now."

Managing to make it to an alleyway, Finn took off his villain costume before de transforming. Both tired and frustrated, he sat on the ground with his knees close.

Shane - Squad 1 / Villain Attack

As soon as the helicopters, Shane wished he had lips so he could make some sort of remark about fascists and their fucking fetish for the damn things. But right now, this was about shoving said fascists' shit in...well, one way or another. As soon as Mahvash and Martin went about one leaving and the latter commencing the diversion to enable an escape, Shane howled loudly and then breathed forth a massive cloud of icy mist, running off at breakneck speeds.

Abandoned Building

Shane reverted fully to human as he entered the abandoned building, his wolf form warping and quickly seeming to flow into a mist-like state as Shane's human form - fully naked mind - stepped forward. After the horrors of the future, damn did it feel good to just smash the shit outta Gaea.

"Am I the only one here who is just fucking jazzed as fuuuuuuuck about pushing in Gaea's shit? Because hot damn that was great!"

He basically did a little dance of victory as he walked around, still not really putting much care into the "totally nude" part of things.

Van - Infiltration

Van escaped the building simply by shifting into familiars when needed, and making use of his vampiric gifts when other methods were required. Once he was clear, he met up with the others and looked around, "Nothing quite like the ring of victory's bell, eh classmates?"

Villain Squad

Ellie giggled, slightly loopy at the jolts still coursing through her from her successful short-circuiting. She sent a few lightning bolts at the guards feet as they rushed out, but for the most part merely flew around dodging their laser fire.

Mikael had half a mind to charge, but settled for blasting the ground with black fire, the flame and smoke serving as a decent smokescreen for the villain squads escape. Faster than I thought it'd be. He mused.

As the others cheesed it, the demons waited for Mahvash to disappear, before vanishing the instant their teleportation came back online.

Abyss, Zamiel's Palace

Hidden behind Zamiel's throne was a small room that his children had come to know as the 'Clubhouse.' It wasn't particularly a secret - everyone in Zamiel's family knew of its existence - but rarely did anyone actually use it, so Mikael and Ellie had all but claimed it as their hideaway.

Ellie was stripping out of her armor almost as soon as she appeared, Mikael following suit more slowly. One of Zamiel's hounds raised his head at their appearance, from where he had been napping in the corner, but recognized their scents and went back to his rest.

"God," She sighed, "this suit is so stuffy." As the last piece of her armor clanked to the ground, the black bodysuit she'd worn underneath shifted away, leaving her in a thin sundress. "Much better."

Mikael unstrapped the last of his own armor, leaving him shirtless for a moment before he retrieved his coat. He smiled teasingly at her. "You know, it wouldn't be as bad if you weren't used to walking around naked."

She stuck out her tongue. "I've never heard you complain."

She wrapped her arms around him, and they shared a kiss.

Outside Gaea HQ, Sometime Later

"Fucking hell."

Elim stood in front of Gaea HQ, or what was left of it. The attacks from the so-called villains hadn't done that much damage to the interior, but the exterior was a mess. The walls had been blasted and battered. Powerlines, cables, and other mechanisms had been cut and severed. The front door had been blown to smithereens. And perhaps most damning of all, an entire helicopter had been brought down to the ground and shoved into what remained of the entryway. As if destroying a good chunk of their drones hadn't been enough.

Of course, that was just the tip of the iceberg. Darkheart appeared in a puff of dark purple smoke, clad in his usual same-colored business suit. Elim didn't so much as look as him, doing his best to keep himself from caving someone's face in. Instead he punched his own palm in frustration. "Goddamn it!"

"I'd say." Darkheart didn't mince words. "It's as bad as we feared. They didn't take everything, but they may as well have. Just about everything one wished to know about our operations, they now possess. Assuming they can crack the code. Though that isn't the worst of it."

"You don't fucking say!"

"Quite. I had something of a hunch, and so I casted a spell of knowledge to see if it was correct. According to the spell, they somehow managed to send our information to the IRS. All of it. Or at least everything that matters."

Elim didn't move a muscle. He didn't so much as blink. Instead he clenched his fist, over and over and over like a vice. As though he was trying to put aside his anger for as long as he could. "And do we know who the fuck's responsible for this?"

"Actually, we might." He waved his hands. A multitude of figures of mist appeared in the air. The scene was a recreation of the attack, capturing one moment in time and putting it on display for all to see. "Recognize anyone?"

Elim looked closely. At first he wasn't sure if he did, or if there was anyone he knew. And yet, his gaze couldn't help but settle on one in particular. One who reminded him strongly of a certain deava. "Oh. Oh, this is fucking rich!"

"It is, isn't it?" He swept forward his hands forward. At once the figures representing the 'villains' rearranged themselves, whirling and churning until it was done. When finished, they were the spitting image of Class 1. "To those who have never seen them, they wouldn't know the difference. But we know better, don't we?"

Elim slowly marched over to Matten's image until he was all but touching her. He glared at her, at that oh so smug expression on her face. As though she knew all the answers. As though he was nothing to her.

He couldn't hold it in any longer. He lobbed a fierce punch at the mist figurine, his arm plowing straight through it as he shouted at the heavens in a furious rage. "GOD FUCKING DAMMIT!" He kicked the nearest wall, not even wincing at the sheer impact due to the state he was in. All the staff briefly stared at him before getting back to their work, his outburst a sight to behold.

It didn't last long. "Right. So. IRS?"

"Yes. For all we know, they could have everything they need to shut us down good."

"Fuck." That didn't leave them with many options. Or at least not ones that wouldn't demonize them. Still, what they did have to lose? "Already talked to the Nazi's?"

"Quite. Apparently their universe is still reeling from their invasion from the Godons last year. Which also explains why we nary heard a peep after that incident in the forest. But they should be able to spare enough troops and supplies if we ask for it."

"Right, okay." He cracked his knuckles. "Then I guess that just leaves one last thing."

"I'm still not sure this is wise."

"Just shut up and do it!"

"Very well." The mage pointed his finger at Elim as a fast, dark beam shot out of it like a cannon. The beam engulfed Elim as he fell to the ground, screaming like a madman. The scream continued as what was now his aura surrounded him, threatening to eat the bones on his marrow as it consumed him. And yet, the screaming soon stopped. The noise quieted, lessened. As it did, the darkness that had engulfed him started to fade away into his subconscious one by one until all that was left was Elim. At first he didn't seem to move. One could even wonder if he was truly alive.

But one by one, his fingers began to move. It wasn't much. Barely so much as a twitch. But soon they started to wiggle. His hands followed suit, clenching themselves like pumps.

Suddenly he shot back up from the pavement, gulping down a large breath of air in the process. Except that he didn't. Because he couldn't. He tried to breathe, to take it in, but to no avail. And yet he wasn't dead. He looked down at his open palm. It didn't seem at all out of the ordinary. Perhaps to a fault. And yet there was something just the slightest bit off. Suddenly a dark whisp jumped from his hand, reacting to his merest thought. He tried it again. Another whisp. Another and another and another. Until his entire hand was brimming to the hilt with darkness. The same kind he used to know so well.

Now this was more like it. "Fuck yes!"

"Well," said Darkheart. "I suppose I was worried over nothing."

"You got that right." Elim started to get up before thinking better of it. He instead shifted into darkness before solidifying on both feet. "God I missed that!"

"So I assume you still intend to go through with this?"

"Damn straight. If we're goin' down, then we're goin' down swinging. We're gonna make those bastards pay!"

"Then I suppose I should make the necessary arrangements." He disappeared in another puff of smoke, leaving Elim to his own devices. Despite everything, he couldn't help but feel relieved. After spending so long being powerless, of playing the long game, of skulking in the shadows, he could finally hit them where it hurt. He could finally make that bitch pay. And he could once again make the shadows his. In some ways he couldn't be happier.

The only question was, how many bodies would be strewn on the ground before he was done?

He couldn't wait.

Bozo's Office ======> Dante's Dorm Room

Okay...   , he said,    ...Thanks for the advice, I guess...   , he waved as he left the office.

After he left Bozo's Office, he went to his room.

He stared at the container. He went next to it and opened it.

The container was revealed to be organized in "cells" to contain different DNA samples. The first cell contained demon DNA samples, from Ellie (a month ago, she, in her demon form, hugged him. Three or four of her hairs [from her longass hair] were on his clothing). The second cell contained daeva "DNA" samples, from Mahvash (a month ago, she dragged him with those gooey trendrills of hers. It was difficult to remove the goo from his clothes, but it was worth it) and the third one contained kitsune DNA samples from Yoko (the Purgatorio night shenanigans during the month. Man, they became really attached to each other, didn't they?? Fortunately he managed to take some fur from her tails and go away...). There were other cells, but they were empty.

Dante took the Desossi Masquerade from his mask belt and put it on his face. The mask got absorbed by face. Dante's skin started to glow. His visible eye's iris also started to glow. Blue and purple helix markings appeared on Dante's palms.

I better go to the Gaea HQ. I am a bit late...

He took an hair from the demon DNA sample cell...and absorbed it. Dante started to make a cocoon around himself, where his transformation would happen...

Outside Gaea HQ

A dark vortex appeared outside Gaea HQ. From it, a tall, lean yet muscular demon came out.

His outfit, as always, retained the jester/carnival/royalty themes, but they were Darker and Edgier. This demon's jester hat, as an example, now looked more demonic, as it was black (with white bone-like stripes) and had horn-like features. In general, the demon's costume looked more wicked to accomodate his now demonic nature. He also had a peculiar horn on the left sode

Demon Dante stepped into the...empty battlefield...

I wonder where did the others go..., he said, looking around.

Maybe they're hiding somewhere...judging from the mist..., he thought as he decided to teleport towards one of the nearest buildings.

Abandoned Building

A dark vortex appeared. Demon Dante stepped out of it.

He noticed the others.

Oh...there you are!   , he said in a deep voice as the vortex disappeared,    I....I...   , he then noticed that Shane was naked,    I didn't know Mr. Calston was an exhibitionist...   , he politely snarked.

Abandoned Warehouse

Mahvash sprouted a wry smile at his suggestion but it had to wait. "As much as I'd love doing that," the mischief showing plain in her eyes. "I think just joining the theater group will bring less questions and entangle fewer people in the nothing that happened."

She leaned into his ear, even while taking his arm to hop out when ready. "If your mother has pictures of you doing anything like the Thundercats sword invocation, you owe me."

Before she left, Mahvash tilted her head at Shane. The wolf thing was interesting, but... "It never happened."

Abandoned Building

Martin moved closer to her and closed his eyes, feeling the rolling waves of exhaustion hit him after that particularly painful fight. "I won't confirm nor deny He-Man, Superman, and Lion-O Halloween outfits." thankfully it looked like any awkward encounters would be avoided for the moment. He looked to those that had made their way to this location and sighed, figuring they would have scattered elsewhere. "Go and enjoy the rest of the weekend, something tells me that come Monday we are going to start getting busy." he turned to her. "So, Shakespeare in the park?"

Be better, because what is the harm in trying?

Zach

...They did it. They really did it. It was such a...weird thought, a weird feeling. To succeed with no drawbacks? Getting everyone out alive and safe? No one missing or hurt or captured or anything like that?

Did they...actually do it? It was hard to hide the relieved smile on his face when he realized what it meant. That Gaea may very well have lost here. And no one was hurt. And they got to show their heroic stuff.

There was only one thing left to do.

Pulling out his phone, he mass texted the entire class (Yes, even Shane.)

...Karaoke?

...

Karaoke

And oh lord, how good it felt to be back at the bar. Where this whole thing started. Friendships and companions and everything started in this very same bar that seemed like YEARS ago.

It'd been a long year so far and they weren't even done.

Zach, as promised, footed the whole thing. He just wanted everyone to have fun. He was so proud of them.

And frankly, even though he didn't have a stomach anymore he felt hungry as FUCK.

Squad 3

“This s*** again? Called me out here for this? What, you loved my screechy-ass singing that much?” Ash remarked as they stepped in, unable to suppress her grin despite her clear nervousness at being back at the joint where she'd almost embarrassed herself. Or had embarrassed herself. God she'd been an asshole before.

But hey, she was better. She thought. She'd dragged herself out the school to be here, but that was really a low standard for her to pat herself on the back over. For all intents and purposes, they'd done it. They needed to celebrate.

And yet, that anxiety was growing.

“Yeah. So anyway. Spill. Go on, I'm antsy. I wanna hear what happened. Did you blow s*** up? 'Cause I'll be disappointed in all y'all unless you blew s*** up,” she interrogated, plopping herself down onto a nearby seat and leaning forward in anticipation.

Squad 1

“Ugh... why do I feel like I ticked off someone doing that...?” Yoko complained, still working on shifting the lingering remnants of Tamamo-no-Mae from her form. It turned out that morphing into a fellow kitsune could actually be harder because of the similarities. It was all very precise, and the biological differences were usually superficial.

“Hey. I said I wanted to go to karaoke, didn't I?” she nudged, grinning at Zach as she finally managed to return her eyes to their usual reddish-orange. “Still feel like I'd be cheating, though. Isn't just me yelping like a fox technically my own voice? Am I cheating now?” she realised with a small start, before adopting an astounded expression.

“Wow... I think I blew my own mind there. I'm a kyūbi, for crying out loud! Aren't I supposed to be all-knowing or something?”

Apparently not so. She could certainly see further. If she concentrated enough, she could end up piercing straight through the walls and onwards for several miles with her celestial sight. It was still tricky for her to get used to, but she appreciated the utility of it. Especially if she was supposed to be ‘Guardian of Earth’ now.

The thought of living on a floating platform crossed her mind, and she couldn't help but giggle.

Squad 4

“We... I still can't believe we actually made it...”

Which wasn't an exaggeration. Evelyn literally couldn't believe they'd done it, because the feeling of victory was absent. The assured truth that they had won was not perceivable to her Third Eye's sight, and it was worrying her. If they hadn't won after all, what else would it take? What would happen? And when?

No answer presented itself to her, and that was perhaps the most terrifying thing of all.

Still, she let her hair down. The whole length of it. It felt good to have it be covering her form again. It was comforting. And at least it was clean now. She didn't exactly have much to be ashamed of apart from the matter of her eyes. She'd improved. She was eating. She had shelter. She had warmth. But most importantly, she had people who cared about her. Barring her blindness and her still-present pain from it, she felt... better. Not enough to even consider approaching the karaoke machine, but she wasn't hiding behind whatever was available anymore. Which was certainly an improvement.

“I... don't really know if what we did was a good idea...” she slowly admitted. “I... something feels off. No, something is off. My Eye can tell. I... don't mean to be upsetting, I'm just...” she trailed off, blanching as she suddenly realised she might have ruined their one moment of respite by inducing paranoia.

“...I... n-nevermind...”

Vivian smiled at Evelyn. "Hey, it's only paranoia if they're not out to get you." She was leaning against the bar sipping on a cold bottle. I wonder if this place has decent food? Relaxing a bit did feel like a good idea, but she was still antsy. Post-fight adrenaline, probably. She hadn't gotten to pitch in and crack some skulls!

Viv leaned in toward Clay. "Hey, why not ask Evelyn here if she wants to do a duet with you? I'm sure you could belt out a country-western tune or two." She wiggled her eyebrows lasciviously.
