JACOB:Jacob Mc Carthy was raised in an incredibly devout household, as well as a generally religious environment. He grew up in a small town largely closed off from the rest of the world, and it was backward in a number of ways. And yet, when it came to the ways of the Lord, they tended to stick closer to the intended meaning than many fire and brimstone teachers these days. Perhaps because of that, Joseph took it to heart, and would soon join the Church himself before eventually becoming a Priest. He thought about becoming either a mechanic or mathematician, particularly since he was incredibly gifted in both fields, but neither were his true passion. Eventually he moved to Albuquerque, hoping to spread the lord’s message to a wider audience than his small little town as well as try and promote a message of peace and unity with the gap between humans and metahumans just starting to form. For a while, life was a good. His flock steadily increased in number, and he even gained a family that he adored.

And then it all came crashing down.

When the Sisters of Sin attacked, they left a string of casualties in their wake. Including both his flock as well as his wife and child. All under the command of one who claimed to be a messenger of the lord. Joseph’s faith was broken. How could a Lord that claimed to be loving and just allow for such atrocities to happen? He used to believe that it was all part of the Lord’s plan, much like Jesus sacrificing himself on the cross was a lynchpin to that plan. But to actually experience something like that firsthand? To lose his flock, his family, everything he ever struggled for? That was something else altogether. And he could no longer accept it.

Soon after, he resigned as a man of the cloth and left the Church. He spent the next three years learning everything he could, particularly how to fight. His sheer drive allowed him to learn what would take most men decades to master, and by the end of those three years, he had become a force to be reckoned with. On top of that, he still had some skill as a mechanic, not that he got much of a chance to show it due to his chosen career path. In those three years, he also worked on honing his craft, and was able to create a suit of angelic armor that would allow him to go toe to toe with the deadliest of supers.

With everything ready, he spent the next two years as a hired hand, preparing himself for when he would finally be able to end the one responsible for slaughtering his family and flock. And at the end of those two years, he found her. Or rather, someone else did. In preparation for his own plans, Elim had been doing his research, and learned that Dawn had recently been enrolled at Saint Academy. And that Jacob was desperately looking for her. And so he proposed to Jacob a deal. Elim would tell Jacob where to find Dawn, as well as provide him the means to infiltrate Saint Academy. Providing that Jacob started working for him. Which actually worked wonderfully for both parties, as infiltrating Saint Academy was what Elim wanted to do all along. All Jacob had to do was do as instructed, namely turning off their security while also trying to learn anything he could about Saint. As long as he did that, Dawn was his for the taking.

On the surface, Jacob is a fairly nice guy. He’s calm, collected, understanding, and very friendly. Beneath that veener, he’s cold and ruthless, caring mostly about avenging his family and taking out his frustrations with the universe on whatever he can. Though every now and then, traces of the old Jacob shine through. If an innocent soul that isn’t on his hit list and is in need of help, he will help them in spite of himself. But above all, avenging his family takes priority above everything else. As does accomplishing whatever he needs to accomplish to do so.

Jacob is an expert combatant. He’s skilled in a variety of different forms of combat, particularly energy-katanas and laser-blasts. However, his powersuit increases his capabilities considerably. It gives him great strength and endurance, as well as protection against attacks that would otherwise be lethal.

He can project beams of bright glowing energy, as well as a forcefield around himself. He can also project a pair of golden, glowing wings that allow him to fly, and can generate a number of holographic servants at this beck and call. He also still has the entire bible memorized in spite of himself, and finds himself quoting it whenever appropriate even though he no longer believes a word. Which makes him wonder if he’s truly as faithless as he’s led himself to believe. He is also a natural mechanic and mathematician.

As a priest, Jacob enjoyed reading and analyzing the bible and similar texts. He also liked attending seminars, as well as high dramas, light comedies, and even film noir. He still enjoyed most of it, but losing his family and flock put him off anything involving religion.

Elan Calston

Shane's son in the future had a rough life growing up. The young man did not inherit any of his father's abilities, and looked to be basically powerless. Which was not what you want to be in this particular future. He was forced into a greater maturity early due to personal tragedy, which cost him an older brother and his father.

Elan as a result began delving into various sorcerous texts, not differentiating between what was sacred and what was profane. As far as he was concerned, power is power, and he needed to become more powerful in order to resist Gaea.

As a result, rather than being born with advantages, he clawed his way up through text after text, becoming a potently powerful mage - most of his spells concentrating on pure results as opposed to anything else. He uses a number of dangerous and in some cases forbidden techniques and spells with impunity.

Darkness, Time, Space...magic and spells that most people view with apprehension he views with a somewhat odd interest and enthusiasm.

Elan is viewed by the other descendants as one quick step away from being a supervillain himself, and there's a worry about what happens after he achieves his goals.

Clementine

The future daughter of Sally Martel. Clementine is an android made from the ground up to be Sally's daughter. She was made five years prior. Despite being an A.I. in a android body, she behaves like a human.

She is a tiny girl, around 4'7" with short orange-red hair and a red heart hair clip to keep her bangs out her face. She looks physically like a 14-year old. She is like how her mother was once like. She is innocent, sweet and has nary a cruel word towards anyone. However, she understands her situation and is worried about her mother's well being and never got to meet the man her mother said would have been her father. She is scared but, tries to stay strong. She also looks somewhat uncanny in how she moves.

She has the same powers as her mother such as enhanced durability, robotic wings and hand beams. She can also scan the area on a base level.

note

Alpha Acker

The older of Finn Acker's future twin children. He is in every way Finn's opposite. He is stoic, serious, humorless and somewhat uptight. He also does not like his name, feeling like it is ridiculous. It may be the reason he named his son Joe. However, he loyal to his family and loves them to death. He also hates tyranny and oppression.

After the death of his father and his twin sister's disappearance, he was raised by his Aunt Celia. He kept fighting till he was greatly injured which permanently put him on the sidelines. A young lady around his age named Flora took care of him and eventually they fell in love. A few years later, they had an underground marriage and later had their son, Joe Acker.

Omega Acker (Other-Sider II)

The younger of Finn Acker's future children. If Alpha is Finn's opposite, then Omega is his similar. She is brash, upbeat and always willing to fight. However, she is reckless and stubborn. She has always been a Daddy's Girl, to the point of calling herself Other-Sider II.

After the death of her father, something in her died as well. She couldn't handle it and left her family and the others. Some say she mentioned how she was going to stop Gaea for murdering her father. No one has seen or heard from her since...

Joe Acker (Other-Sider III)

The son of Alpha and Flora Acker and Finn's grandson. He has recently joined the future Class 1 to end Gaea's rule. He was raised by his parents and his great-auntie Celia the best they could.

Joe is 5'5" with light brown slightly messy hair with bags under his eyes. He is perpetually scared and worried. He often jumps to the worst conclusion. This all due to being born into a world that hates people like him. However, with enough force, he can be brave. He wants to be more like his late grandfather who he has heard stories about from his father and great-aunt. He wants to make everything his family went through not be pointless.

Elizabeth Raleigh (the Amazing Sewer-Girl)

Rebecca's "daughter", for lack of a better word, Elizabeth Raleigh is a golem of muck created by Rebecca due to a strong desire to have a child, and animated by her "Auntie" Mahvash.

Due to being made of sentient muck, Elizabeth's form is fluid, but she identifies as a teenage girl and usually takes a form to match. Despite the bleak time she lives in, Elizabeth is unerringly cheerful and optimistic, believing this the best way to honor the memory of her mother, who always loved to see her smile.

Elizabeth has taken to calling herself the Amazing Sewer-Girl, but none of the other resistance members can really take that name seriously.

Uriah Langley

Iris's son, who did not inherit the Many-Eyed One's Blessing. Orphaned at a very young age, Uriah's desire to enact revenge on Gaea led him to spend his childhood pouring over the Langley family's many tomes of Eldritch lore and rituals, becoming an expert on harnessing the magicks of the Otherplanes by his late teens.

Unfortunately, his overuse of these forces has had a profound effect on his psyche, and his thought process is no longer quite like that of a regular human. In fact, his mental wavelength bears more similarities to that of Mahvash than those of any of the other resistance members.

Lydia Bates (Inferno Phoenix)

The latest in the Bates lineage, and the most recent one to take up the Phoenix moniker. Lydia is an incredibly stilted, clinical sort compared to that of her predecessors—stating bland facts and relying entirely on logical outcomes and organization to the point where it's genuinely disconcerting. Though almost mechanical in nature (and a neat freak to boot), Lydia shows traits of quiet rebellion in terms of her clothing and actions; wearing similar punk attire to that of her grandmother Ash and sporting the occasional hint of wry humour in-between her blank assessments.

As is the case with all Bates, Lydia has innate pyrokinetic abilities—able to produce flames by mixing a volatile gas from her pores with a psychokinetic spark and direct the resulting inferno at will. She retains her family's adaptions and immunities to fire-related threats, and theoretically has dear old Cendrillon's epidermal ribboning mixed in her blood somewhere as well. But that's yet to make manifest.

Lydia likes to act as the quiet organizer; making sure everything's in its place and discreetly keeping an eye on her fellows (regardless of their personal space) in some cases. With a somewhat strange, almost stressed air to her and an underlying falsehood to her smile, Lydia may actually be internalizing much more than she lets on—and her volatility regarding her privacy most certainly raises red flags.

Aster's Fate

For the most part, Aster and Avajax were one of the first to fall when Gaea began exterminating supernatural creatures and other such things.

Knowing that Aster's powers could prove a huge liability for them, they decided to send assassins after her when the direct assault teams couldn't kill her.

The assassins managed it, but Gaea did not count on Avajax taking over Aster's dying body to lay down some pain. He soon died after her without another viable host.

In the future, a veritable mountain of a dead creature lies in the wastelands. It has jagged, metallic scales. Parts of terrifying mythological beasts sprout from the main mass, as well as an endless amount of empty black eye sockets, mouths, and claws. A multitude of smashed human skeletons surround it.

They say that if you are brave enough to climb to the top of the mountain, you can find a girl's body clutched gently in the creature's embrace, almost as if it were hugging her. Though the bullet wound in her head and lack of pulse indicate that she is dead, her body hasn't decayed a bit—and neither have her clothes, due to Avajax channeling the last bit of his powers into preserving her. Her eyes are closed and she is smiling sweetly, as though she is merely asleep and could wake up at any moment.

Perry's Fate

After dealing with Orthus and his pack, Gaea's goons moved onto Perry, who had been severely wounded. She was tearfully begging them to stop, asking if they could "be friends and not fight." The grunt whose leg she was grabbing onto callously shot her in the head.

She rose again as an angry wraith, accompanied by all her spirit pet friends, hellbent on revenge. That night, the grunts who had participated in the werewolf slaughter were all savagely ripped apart.

Perry's ghost still haunts the wastelands, bringing darkness that blankets the skies wherever she goes. Her incisors yearn to rend flesh, and all her friends are hungry as well. They're all very lonely (even though their ranks swell daily through their own hard effort) so new friends are always welcome after they've been devoured.

She has an ungodly amount of strength as a wraith, in direct proportion to her pain and anger. She can also imitate the voices of loved ones to lure unwary folk trapped in the darkness she brings into her and her friends' jaws.

Additionally, she is forced to act out the scene of her death at midnight every night, with the ghosts of the Gaea goons and werewolves. If someone were to intervene with this sordid play, perhaps Perry and her friends would be freed from this torment.

Mania Precossini

Mania (born Nora) Precossini is the Dante's future daughter. She has really pale skin, accompanied by long, jet black hair (with a bang over her right eye) and garnet-colored eyes. Mania, like her father, uses a jester theme in her attire. But unlike her father's attire (jester and royalty theme), she takes on a more harlequin theme, discarding the kingly themes and amping up the jester themes.

Thanks to an..."incident", the masks got broken and she got fatally injured. Fortunatly for her, she got recovered from her paternal grandmother, who has been hiding in the shadows since she conceived Dante, modified her genetic makeup, putting some demon and angel DNA inside her DNA, and that gave her some physical augmentation. She magically bound the powers of the Masks to her body. She also inserted a Magitek eye (black sclera and white iris/pupil) on where her right eye was supposed to be. The eye was connected to her brain. note

Pandora Phaeteis (+Iuvem's fate)

Iuvem's daughter, conceived with his guardian, the ETHEL-ian Magitek mage Betty Glove. She inherited the purple hair and blue eyes from her mother. But her eyes inherited the black sclerae from her father. She looks unnaturally pale.

She was conceived ten years after Iuvem first entered Saint Academy. Thanks to Gaea, Iuvem started to develop some kind of rage and hatred for humanity...he wanted to destroy it...to torment it. Noticing that the daeva energy flowing through his body was starting to have its effects, he left Earth and started searching for the guardian of the Milky Way, Galaktios, hoping he could know how to quell his boiling rage and take advantage of his daeva energy.

Iuvem, by doing this, has left behind the pregnant Betty Glove, who got captured by Gaea. They kept her in their custody for nine months. Then, one day, she couldn't take it anymore...when they checked on her, she was dead. On her corpse, there was a baby, partially covered in black goo-like tendrills. Gaea, thinking that she was freak of nature, sealed her inside a strange cubic artifact for almost 20 years, before she was freed by the Future Class 1.

Pandora has some kind of Ambiguous Disorder. It might be schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or the multiple personality disorder. She may act sweet and kind for a while...but when you least expect it, she is cruel, twisted, shrewd and sadistic.

Power-wise, she inherited the hydrokinesis(kind of) from Iuvem. But since she is an half(?)-daeva, she also got the typical powers of a daeva like Mahvash, but also their weaknesses.

Caspar Freisch

The orphaned child of Mikael Friesch and Ellie.

Born in the era of growing turmoil caused by Gaea, when he was but four, Ellie was killed. Despite having a child, his mother refused to give up on being a hero, and in the end fell to Gaea's forces. Her father, not long after, sought revenge for Ellie's murder and went after Gaea. After several hit and runs, Mikael botched a mission, and was slain.

Zamiel, taking pity on his grandchild, took the boy in to raise him. He and Josef trained Caspar intensely, for the boy desired to avenge his fallen mother and father. At the same time, Amadea cared for him like her own son, wanting to protect him as something to remember Mikael by. Nonetheless, Caspar strove to be the strongest he could.

At age ten, this culminated in an attempt on his life. One of Zamiel's wives, thinking he cared for the three-quarters demon more than her, went after Caspar in his bed.

She wound up a stain on the floor.

For Caspar inherited more than simply fire and lightning from his parents. Somehow, his father's ability to pour power into objects and his mother's penchant for absorbing electricity combined into an aptitude for absorbing the energy of other demons. Having been in direct contact with Zamiel and Josef, he directly took much of their power, and even at his young age - merely thirteen in the 'present' that Class 1 finds themselves in - he is very, very strong.

As such, Caspar yearns to lead the Abyssal invasion force that will reclaim the Earth from the clutches of Gaea. Carrying with him his father's locket, he believes humanity can still be saved, and will stop at nothing to fulfill his father's legacy.

In human form, he somewhat resembles Mikael, but his hair is decidedly his mother's, white and wild, albeit much shorter than she kept it.

In demon form, he has his father's red skin and black claws, but also has his mother's single, unicorn-like horn.

Regardless of form, his eyes are the usual demonic red.

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

Mikoto and Saori Hirschbaum

A wandering pair of twins with an intense vendetta against Gaea and its forces. Born to Zachariah and Yoko Hirschbaum some time before the crux of Gaea's hostile takeover, the siblings have always had a particular conflict between them that has only increased with the disappearance of their parents. Though both possessing incredible spiritual powers inherited from their yōkai mother (and carrying most of their father's physical attributes), Mikoto and Saori have a complex and frustrating set of differences that unfortunately ends up being a source of much tension between them.

Mikoto

Mikoto Hirschbaum is a distant and severe young man with a tremendous capacity for spiritual output. Introverted and quiet most of the time, his moral high ground tends to come across sometimes unreasonable and abrupt due to his lack of communication—but for all his aloofness he only means the best for him and his sister. Actively aware of the Yōkai Realm and the spiritual planes even when his powers are deactivated, Mikoto's tendency to zone out is often due to him being too overwhelmed by outside input and experiences most of the time—which he can never seem to explain properly to his sister.

Mikoto's intense affinity to the spiritual plane grants him a tremendous energy output; giving him the ability to fire intensely potent and destructive blasts similar to his mother's foxfire, coat small objects in auras so as to manipulate them from a distance, construct solid shields and basic weapons by concentrating his energies, and even astrally project with some prior meditation. Mikoto's ridiculous power output is marred by his complete lack of finesse and experience into his actions—often overpumping his attacks and overclocking himself while causing relentless destruction to everything but the target(s) he's aiming for. That and his reliance on his abilities means he is lacking physically—lean as a bean and severely limited in stamina in comparison to his sister.

Saori

Saori, by comparison, is a much more brash and high-strung individual—possessing a ruthless streak and an explosive temper when she feels as if she's being insulted or otherwise crossed in some way or another. Harbouring an intense jealousy and feelings of inferiority towards her more "gifted" brother, Saori has instead honed her comparatively limited powers to their utmost degrees; training her body to its fullest potential and focusing on an admittedly effective style that mixes martial arts and spiritual energies spectacularly. While her abrasiveness starts up many arguments with her more silent brother, Saori is actually much more vulnerable than she outwardly appears—dearly missing her parents and resting in a volatile emotional state because of the added insult to injury of her brother outpacing her by natural advantage when all she wishes is for them to be able to work together on equal terms. Unbeknownst to her, Mikoto feels much the same way—although on his end it manifests as melancholy admiration of her determination while remaining frustrated at his sister's inability to understand his predicament.

Unlike her brother, Saori relies on trickery and dirty tactics as much as she does close-ranged combat and spiritual output; setting traps and utilizing stealth to the highest degree possible for a person whose powers literally manifest as bright neon blue energy. While unable to add as much potency to her attacks as Mikoto, Saori compensates with her knowledge of weak points and a honed warrior's sense—able to construct complex combat strategies on the fly and using her weaker energy powers to their most dangerous and precise degrees. Incorporating spectral blades, arm shields, and the good ol' fashioned athleticism, Saori is arguably more lethal than her brother—but her lack of comparative defense means that if she goes down it's usually for good.

In any case, the twins are both equally envious of the other—their conflicting personalities contrasting with their respective powers and creating a rift between the two that they desperately need to close up again if they want their relationship to remain tolerable. Still, though, their mutual love for the other still remains—their goal to find their parents uniting them into a true force to be reckoned with. Even if they're constantly bickering over the explosions and destruction.

Anya Alexander-Armstrong (Bad Future)

The daughter of Hunter & the sorceress Mary Anderson & named after her biological grandmother, Anya.

Both of her parents were ultimately killed in the conflict with Gaea, Mary when she was 8 & Hunter 7 years after. Mary was killed by exposure to chlorine trifluoride during a raid on a Geae compound, & Hunter died from a myocardial rupture induced by his activating Finis Excedens Decuplo (the most powerful form of Finis Excedens) during the defense of the Resistance stronghold that Anya was staying at.

She's quite antisocial, a result of having lost both her parents & many friends to the many threats of the post-apocalypse, & equally quick to anger, although she is usually surprisingly calm no matter how furious she is. Having lost so many people close to her, she tries to avoid direct conflict as much as possible, but if forced to fight becomes something of a combat masochist.

Due to being a half-dhampir (1/4 vampire), Anya has enhanced physical abilities, healing, & senses, but none to the extent of her father. She is, however, an accomplished mage, having been taught by both parents before thire deaths. She utilises biomancy (Finis Excedens Duplex, Osteokinesis), cryomancy, & electromancy, as well as some basic transportation & scrying spells.

Anya stands 5'10 tall & weighs 140 lbs. She has complete heterochromia iridum; her left eye is midnight blue, while her right eye is light violet. She has medium auburn hair, which she wares in a single pigtail that reaches to her mid-back. Her skin is very lightly tanned, & she has a light build that's mostly wiry muscle, yet still quite curvaceous. She has a collection of scars on her body dispiet her regenerative ability, due to her osteokinesis forcing bone structures through her skin.

  • Name: Jaykob Passdar
  • Code Name: Xenocide
  • Personality: Jaykob used to be just a very downtrodden teenager, lonely, kind of unusual, and poorly adjusted for life outside the home. Then his metahuman ability activated, and things rapidly went downhill. The sheer high he got finally being able to answer the aggression of others with overwhelming force distorted his personality. The thrill of matching aggression against aggression resulted in a heavy tendency toward Blood Knight, and he came to delusionally believe himself to actually be a conqueror from the future come to bring his vision to fruition. Needless to say, With Great Power Comes Great Insanity. As far as he's concerned though, the power he was given liberated him from life's worries; like living up to any kind of standard, treating others with empathy, being part of human society, and giving any respect to society's norms.
  • Powers:
    • Destructive Energy Being: He is technically a living perpetual furnace of energy, constantly producing and emitting bursts of corrosive, destructive power. He can shape, generate and make use of this energy in any way he wants.
    • Furnace Armor: Due to his body not being able to take the kind of force he was dealing out, he wound up inhabiting a suit of power armor he found, and tailoring it over time to fit his needs. Now, he can shapeshift it into any configuration he needs, mostly involving weapons.
  • Weakness: His energy form is vulnerable to certain strong containment mechanisms, he's weak to having his energy dampened and his force cooled down (limiting his options), and his achilles heel personality wise is his sheer temper, and eagerness to destroy things - he literally can't stop himself. Sanity Has Advantages, Jaykob.
  • Backstory:
    • Jaykob used to be a lonely rich kid whose parents tried to limit his social engagements so as to preserve his status as a child prodigy. He did nothing but study, do school work, eat and sleep. He was forbidden from interacting with others, and due to his lack of experience, any amount that did by some chance end up happening was frustrating and pushed him further into a temperamental episode. He grew to despise his parents for their controlling nature, his schoolmates for being impossible to understand from his perspective, and the world around him for catering to them.
    • His metahuman power awoke at his sixteenth birthday, and it was a very chaotic awakening. In one instant of temperamental fugue, his mother, his father, two butlers and a passing jogger and dog outside were obliterated from existence. He initially became horrified by what happened, trying desperately to comprehend his new existence based on what he knew from school. But the more he understood his powers, the more he started to realize something.
    • He...liked destroying them. He had enjoyed watching his parents become dust right in front of him. His perspective on his powers quickly went from horror to enjoyment. So he promptly strolled into school, evaporated a security guard out of sheer spite, and acted out every ounce of rage he felt.
    • This resulted in a fight with local superheroes, and it seemed in the chaotic conclusion of it he "died". The result however was far worse. He slinked off, now a being entirely made of his destructive energy. He plundered a suit of power armor from a rival supervillain's cache and used it as his new body. Due to the armor's emphasis on durability, it survived his entrance into it, and over time became his new body.
    • Now, ten years later, he only goes by Xenocide, because his first answer when he sees something new...is to burn it.

Villains

  • Name: Артём Николаев (Artyom Nikolaev)
  • Codename: Крик (Krik—translates as "Scream")
  • Age: Uncertain. Physically, he could be anywhere from his mid 20s to late 30s. Mentally, he seems much younger.
  • Appearance: Руки, которые поют, разрывают тех, кто слушает. A staggering 9'5" in height, and with physical strength to match. Always wrapped in layers upon layers of heavy clothing, and his facial features are perpetually obscured due to his high collar and brimmed hat. His hands are the only things left exposed, and they are rotten to the point of being blackened and stringy. Beautiful, lavender-tinted eyeballs lay embedded in both of his palms, and when idle he may move them as if conducting and make them exude gentle Russian melodies in an ethereal, feminine opera tone. His breathing is quiet and stifled to the point of being next to nonexistent, and his pulse has not been discovered yet. He is never seen eating, and rests standing up. It's uncertain if he's even still alive.
  • Personality: A quiet, unassuming stoic. Artyom is mostly impassive yet holds little resistance, and generally acts as a silent henchman for whoever is next to push him around. Still, he seems to have his limits—he is gentle around children, reluctant to hurt women, and seems to enjoy whatever peace and quiet he can get. He is passionate for music, mostly classical; opera being his primary focus and what he practices (in a fashion) during his spare time. Artyom seems to lack in higher intelligence (occasionally not reacting to basic calls or not understanding instructions) and has behaviours reminiscent of a shy eight-year-old, but with this limited mindset comes the explosive temper and naïveté associated with it. Artyom can only take so much disrespect, and is incredibly sensitive to what people say of him. His reputation for having strangled two of his former bosses for insulting him has garnered fear across the underworld, and although some dons unknowing of his tendencies remain foolish enough to continue in abusing him most of the higher-ups in the criminal empire respect him enough to conform to his (admittedly small) wishes of occasional solitude and basic human rights. Still, he seems to have no qualms in taking lives when directly ordered to—though whether he's simply tolerating these actions on their barest levels is unknown.
  • Powers:
    • Кричащие Pуки (Screaming Hands): His fundamental power. Through eyeballs implanted into his palms, Krik can generate hypersonic frequencies at a level enough to rupture eardrums and even explode certain substances with prolonged exposure; something he for some reason has zero negative reaction to. They can be toned down in volume and intensity with little effort, and they are Artyom's medium for musical expression. In their more subdued tones, the sounds that emanate are that of a soothing feminine opera singer, but they become that of an incomprehensible whistle when he's using the upper registers of their ranges. Artyom is unable to form anything resembling lyrics with these eyes, and so he can only stick with instrumentals when using this ability passively.
    • Видя Pуки (Seeing Hands): The eyes upon his palms aren't just for emanating destructive noises. They are functional organs despite their biological impossibility, and can move independently of each other. While lacking enhanced vision (barring a slight purplish tint to his perception while looking through them) Artyom can use these and any others on hands that he produces to extend the reach of his sight—acting as a makeshift form of clairvoyance to let him look behind himself or around corners. Attacking the eyes while he's looking through them (signified by a repeated pulse of purple from their irises) will send him a tremendously painful wave of psychic feedback—which if delivered en masse to a large amount of his eyes can even incapacitate him on the spot.
    • Прорастающие Pуки (Sprouting Hands): From any point on his body (and from a limited range in his immediate personal space), Artyom can cause rotting and repulsive hands identical to his own to sprout out in levels only limited to how much space he can fit them into; amplifying their destructive capabilities considerably and also granting him greater sight. Artyom can effectively cover himself entirely in hands (even over his face) as a form of rudimentary protection, and apart from being incredibly unsettling it can also be used for manipulating multiple objects at once.
    • Лечебные Pуки (Healing Hands): Any part of him that is cut off can regenerate in a manner akin to a lizard. His hands are almost immediately replaced, but his arms and legs take a greater time in regrowing themselves. The process resembles strings of blackened flesh overlapping one another and piling themselves back into the correct shape, and strangely his clothing heals with him. A suggested weakness is his head and neck, and indeed sufficient punishment can eventually bring him down onto his knees out of pure fatigue anyway. Hands that are sprouted externally simply wither and die, however—his original hands are the only ones that can successfully heal.
  • Weakness: Limited intelligence + muteness = a difficulty in communication. Artyom is also unwilling to fight most of the time unless directly commanded to, and has a habit of wandering off when unattended. His (generally) weak-willed nature means he has a tendency of giving up fights as soon as he's properly downed, and he gets a little too friendly with the enemy sometimes (much to his allies' chagrin). He also cannot dodge, and doesn't know how to react to attacks—which is fine as long as his powers keep regenerating him and lock his foes to a set distance, but not so fine if he's being assaulted by surprise manoeuvres and trickery. His regeneration has a limit, and he's quickly tired—vulnerable to psychic interference due to his poor connection to his powers. His unnatural stench also tends to put people off, as does his unsettling appearance—and his intense loneliness is clearly taking its toll on his mental state. Artyom may be easily swayed by those persistent enough, and if one can remove his superiors from the equation he might also be subject to change.
  • Backstory: Background checks on "Artyom Nikolaev" bring forth only limited information on a young boy from decades ago aspiring to be a famous Russian musical artist, which quickly devolves into a slew of desperate missing child reports and many dead ends that culminate into an eventual dropped case. In reality, the boy later known as "Krik" in the criminal underworld had been growing up under the unhinged gaze of E·Y·E—the twisted, multicultural human experimentation project/cult that was picking prime youngsters off of the streets according to their "superior" pineal glands. Artyom was one of these children, and was soon captured and subject to intense and inhumane body modification procedures: ending up as a person so unrecognizable that it's doubtful he'd resemble his former self in the slightest even without the multitude of layers that he wears at all times. Rendered mute from the surgeries, Artyom was soon "gifted" a twisted rendition of a powerset to compensate—his clairvoyant eye-hands were now able to produce high-frequency sound waves to mimic singing. This so-called replacement was soon rendered pointless anyway as Artyom was eventually deemed a failure and locked away in a cell to rot; fed only on spare scraps and reaching adulthood largely uneducated as a result. Freed due to the chaotic escape plan concocted by one of his fellow prisoners, Artyom ventured out into the dark streets to find his place, eventually finding solitude in the form of a local gang and soon gaining a presence in the lifestyle of organized crime as a bodyguard/henchman for hire. Utilized for his destructive brawn over his intelligence, Artyom's status as a near urban legend has made him an effective asset in many criminal factors, and it is of no surprise that he eventually got noticed by the supervillain community as well for his strange and unique abilities. Granted he stays compliant, of course.

Tess Sonnenfeld

Age: 17

Appearance: At her most stable: https://picrew.me/share?cd=fPhUuW0NgX

Powers:

  • Energy Form:She can change to energy form. Here she becomes a monstrous looking being who has long strong claws as her main weapon. She is also rather fast in this form.

  • Drain: If she is near another energy being, she can start to drain them by touching them physically. Those hit by the drain start to disappear physically. If disconnected, the drain will end.

Personality: Tess is both emotional and impulsive. She has resigned herself to what has to be done, even if it is horrible. She used to be much more sociable and outgoing, though traces of that still show through from time to time.

Backstory:

  • Tess Sonnenfeld was once a normal girl with a good life. She did well in school, was well liked by her peers and had dreams for the future. Most of all, she had a loving family consisting of her parents, older sister and adopted baby brother. She loved them and they loved her back. Life was good...
  • Till one out of state school trip ruined all of that. All she remembers was getting lost and a seemingly nice woman trying to help her before she lost consciousness. When she woke up, she was taken by illegal underground scientist group.
  • There she was experimented upon using a beast from another dimension. The beast did not survive the experiments due to how excessive it was. Tess became an eventually unstable energy being that looks vaguely human. After the group was found out, the lab was abandoned along with Tess. She found out she only had three years to live because her body got to the point where she simply didn't have enough energy to sustain herself. She did manage to get herself looking more human looking. After two years of being left in the lab, she left it in the hope of finding her family.
  • However, she learned her family had disappeared and no one knows what happened to them. Now on her last year, she fell into despair. That was until The Guardians came upon her. They told her what they could offer such as a more stable form and a world where she could live indefinitely and maybe with her family. However, she was told there was one way for her to become permanently stable. That there is a young man who has similar powers and if Tess could drain him, she would gain enough energy to stay stable. However, draining him would kill him. Despite her hesitations, she realized she doesn't have any other options left and wants nothing more to have a nice life again. She agreed and became a member of The Guardians. She knows the name of the young man who she has to drain and she will try to make it quick and painless for him. His name being Finn Acker...

  • Name: "Hawk Alastor"/Anton Elander
  • Code Name: The Crystal Fox
  • Age: 45
  • Appearance: A tall, slender man with long jet black hair (which is tied back) and brown eyes who usually wears fine suits (in his civilian disguise) or dark-colored mystic robes (befitting a magus of his station). Has a notably strange look in his eyes—which really is odd since in an old family photo taken right after Perry was born, Hawk was significantly scruffier and had green eyes (like the rest of the Alastor lineage).
  • Personality: Proud and of noble blood and stature, but definitely not noble in personality. He always seeks to prove his superiority over others, and it really shows—he is willing to lie, cheat, and steal to get his way. When not stirred up to criminal acts of passion and jealousy, he can be a cunning and calculating enemy indeed...
  • Powers:
    • Gem/Crystal Magics: Anton retains much of his previous skills at gem and crystal magery though his identity has changed. He can utilize the various connotations of gems and crystals to cast spells of varying effects—for example, opals can be used to purify, heal, and grant luck. Each gem or crystal can only cast a certain amount of spells before turning inert and needing to be "rested." Straining them will only make them shatter and turn to worthless dust.
    • Spirit Control: With the help of a Focus staff, he can control spirits by bending them to his iron will. This is far from true spirit mediumship, but his jealousy of the Alastor family has led him to pursue mastery in this ability. He cannot (or rather, dares not) channel spirits, for fear he might become irrevocably possessed.
  • Weaknesses:
    • Equipment Dependency: Anton is far too dependent on his gems and crystals for spellcasting, and tends to tax them heavily while doing so. Those gems and crystals are also expensive, which forces him to use his spirit minions to steal more, which increases his profile whenever he has them do so. As seen on Parent's Night, he needs his Focus staff to control his spirit minions. Breaking it will free them, and they will not be happy...
    • Hubris: Anton is clever and dangerous only while he remains aloof from his pride and jealous passions. Spoiler alert: he is often unable to remain aloof. Inflaming his temper, while making him less coordinated, also tends to goad him into brutal revenge. See what happened to the real Hawk Alastor.
  • Backstory:
    • The Elanders are a prestigious magus family who place special emphasis on excellency and appearances (disregarding any methods used to attain those things). On the other hand, the Alastors were an old lineage, even older than the Elanders, but they were more focused on helping spirits than either of those things—which paradoxically gained them those things. Thus some members of the Elander family started to dislike the Alastors, while they remained perfectly ignorant of it and the political machinations of magical society as a whole, instead preferring to commune with the dead.
    • Hawk Alastor had married an ordinary woman, Anabelle Williams, and produced an almost prodigal child, who was predicted to have the ability to finely control and channel many spirits at a time without tiring. Anton considered this union and its offspring an affront to all pure-blooded magicians and set out to rectify the aberration.
    • Meanwhile, Hawk was a newly single father after Annabelle died in childbirth, and had to juggle the dual responsibilities of guiding Annabelle through the Other Side and raising Perry. Thus, he welcomed Anton's friendship while Anton slowly grew more and more incensed at Hawk's good reputation among other magicians despite being scruffy and slightly boorish, though kind-hearted and almost annoyingly naive.
    • Anton's anger finally came to a boiling point and he literally stabbed Hawk in the back, binding his spirit with the Focus staff that he prepared beforehand and re-naming him "Maxwell." As for Hawk's young daughter Perry, he cursed her body with aches and pains so she would always have to crawl on all fours (like the "mutt" she was) and "tied" her tongue (so she could never speak of what she'd witnessed and always appear as a fool). He told her that she couldn't channel human spirits, as all she'd controlled up to that point were animal spirits—and then sealed her powers to make it true. Then he assumed Hawk's identity, using his powers and connections to hush things up. He later married another mage named Eliza, purely for the political pull it gave him.
    • What followed for Perry were years of hardship, but it ended the day Anton grew bored of tormenting her and abandoned her. That was when the many spirits that the real Hawk had saved pooled their resources, folded themselves into animalistic shapes (with the help of a few minor death gods that Hawk had befriended), and crossed back across the veil in a slow trickle to aid the young Perry, saving her life by becoming her new family.
    • After he and Eliza were jailed following the Parent's Night incident (where his pride had screwed him over), he manipulated Eliza into creating the perfect conditions for his escape, killing her in the process. Now that he's out of prison, he can finally continue pursuing his goal of ruining those of the Alastor lineage...

  • Name: Byron Shindel.
  • Code Name: Osmosis.
  • Personality: Byron (IT'S OSMOSIS GOD DAMMIT!) is a young man who believes himself to be gods gift onto a planet of backwoods hillbillies. He holds himself highly and believes himself to be a genius, and the next Leon Leopold of the villain community. This is, however, all a farce, as he has a deep seated Superiority Inferiority Complex has left him in a delusion he's better than what he is. All he wants, really, is someone to respect him and fear him, and tends to go over his own limitations when it happens. Prone to breakdowns and mental fragility, he desperately will do what he can to be feared and respected among the community.
  • Powers:
    • Osmosis Absorption: Osmosis is capable of taking any liquid into his being and use it however he pleases, but not limited to spraying it from his hands/other parts of his body, control copious amounts of it if it's around in said copious amounts, and can even portions of his body into said liquid, limited mainly by the amount originally consumed.
    • Durability: His body offers quite a bit for damage and being run down. Considering he's capable of consuming Lava and sulfuric acid, he's incredibly, incredibly durable, but not without limits.
  • Weakness: His powers are incredibly limited by the amount he consumes, in addition to having the proper liquid to consume, period. Water is in abundance and it's usually what he defaults to, so not having acid, lava or the like actively available leads quite a bit to be desired. In addition, for him to be considered a threat in any sizable way, he'd need to consume a three gallon...ANYTHING. And even then, it lasts, at best, an hour.
  • Backstory: You can go ahead and ask Byron his backstory, and you'll always get one of three backstories. One of them being that his ABSORPTION ability comes from a genetic experience with a sea sponge and a loose wire cable. The second one comes from the desire to allow the human race to retain water in their bodies and not die from dehydration, and took the experiment himself...and proceeded to go "MAD WITH POWER" or something to that effect. Another one was that his mother was the wicked Powerloder and his father was Overcharge, a hero known for expelling massive amounts of energy he stored up. Together, their son got the worst of their powers and none of the proper abilities. Regardless, Byron sees the world as damaged, frayed and wants it to find a way to simply restart...through whatever means necessary. It just sucks when he's likely the most ineffective hero in the entire history, and in this world? That's IMPRESSIVE. Oh, if only he could find an infinite source of a liquid he could consume...then the world would see his powers! THEN the world would fear his wrath!

Is it selfish that I'm happy as we pass the setting sun?

  • Name: Its true name is mostly indecipherable (because it is in the ULOCnote ). The first letter that was deciphered in its name was X.

  • Codename: Nibiru The Nemesis

  • Age: Unknown. Possibly billions of years.

  • Appearance: X is a shapeshifter. It constantly changes its form. Its current (and preferred) form is a 8'11" tall male Alpha Draconian (a a reptilian humanoid alien race), with scales as dark blue as the ocean, grayish-white and skeletal wings, eyes with yellow sclerae, with the (navy blue) iris and the (black) pupil taking the shape of an "X", and a long tail, with some silver spikes at its edges. On the top of his head, it has got some silver-colored horns that constellate its edges. His "blood" is a strange, thick and navy blue substance.

  • Personality: X is inquisitive and intelligent. He likes to observe others, even when his actions could be thought as creepy. He likes to analyze his sorroundings, especially when they're something he never saw in his billion years of existence. He can boastful and arrogant sometimes. He will not hesitate to become violent in the right circumstances. While X is capable of consuming human food, he often shows a bizarre preference of blood and decaying flesh. He's a no-nonsense guy, and he doesn't like to take someone's bullcrap. When in combat, he can be fast and ruthless, not caring about his victim's wellbeing.

  • Powers:
    • Deleo: When this power is activated, everything he touches will decay and crumble into blackish dust. An alternative, more combat-heavy use of this power is that he can blast dark Kamehame Hadokens from his hands, that can block light because they can destroy it.
    • Exedo: X can absorb almost anything with just some inhaling. From magic and energy (of all kinds) to living beings (that have to be smaller than him). After consuming and absorbing a determined amount of matter, he will gain powers (and possibly memories) based on the absorbed matter's propertiesnote
    • Verto: The power of shapeshifting. He can still retain his power in his new form.
    • Servo: He can "summon" an "exoskeleton" made of keratin and chitin to protect his body. It won't even budge even when hit by the sharpest mundane blades. He also uses this power as "clothing".
    • Sicco: X can regenerate if he has consumed matter (including the matter absorbed with Exedo). The regen speed depends from the amount of consumed matter.

  • Weaknesses:
    • Delet tis: Eccessive use of Deleo (the destructive use) will result in the decaying of his body, weakening him.
    • No Food? Then No Regen: Exactly What It Says on the Tin.

  • Backstory:
    • Years ago, a member of ETHEL was telepathically concacted by an alien, who warned them about a binary system that, by crossing paths with the Solar System, would bring chaos on it (especially on Earth) if left unchecked. This member has told ETHEL about that, and tried to search for the binary system, and when they found it, they managed to secretly destroy the planet of system with an hi-tech gamma laser. They thought they were safe...but they didn't truly understand the alien's warning.
    • After the destruction of the planet, an alien cult recovered its pieces and transported them to another dimension. In this pocket dimension, the cult conducted various experiments that would lead to the birth of X. They tried to control the entity, but it simply consumed all of the cult. After the carnage, X decided to take a form based off of the cultists it consumed, and fled from the dimension. He was vengeful for its' destruction at the hands of the earthlings, so it decided to take advantage of what remained of the cult, and he managed to teleport to its secret underground base on Earth. From the shadows, it watches humanity and metahumanity, as he eargerly waits to consume it all...

  • Name: Malhareff of the Eternal Horde
  • Codename: He either goes by his given name or the titles Sovereign Sphinx, Lord of the Last Word, and Master of Minds.
  • Age: Multiple millenia old.
  • Appearance: Having once possessed the appearance of a regular sphinx - a man's head, a lion's mane and body, and the wings of a bird - Malhareff has since traded out that appearance for a magitek body made of metal that best resembles mercury, constantly shifting and changing. His wings are a collection of interconnected blades, and his eyes are bright blue orbs in a black pit of an eye socket.
  • Personality: Malhareff used to be just a particularly nasty sphinx - blessed with telepathy and telekinesis, he delighted in making riddles and harshly penalizing those who failed in them. This directly led into his decision humans needed a master, someone whose leadership would grant knowledge and wisdom upon them, and melt the minds of those who rejected sovereign leadership. Malhareff believes deeply in the principles of a utilitarian utopia - where everyone either lives up to their utility and potential or is "cast out". He ties this together with a strangely capitalistic doctrine. The Sphinx believes strictly in established quotas, precedents, market trends, and data, without making much of an allowance for human deviation from these ideas. Strictly speaking, as long as utopia and prosperity are guaranteed, nobody really should complain, no matter what happens behind closed doors.
  • Powers
    • Telepathy / Telekinesis: Malhareff is a powerful and dangerous telepath / telekinetic, his powers mostly shown through bursts and shaping tendrils of blue energy.
    • Technopath: Due to his connection to magitek, Malhareff is capable of incorporating, controlling and making use of technology as he sees fit.
    • Techno-Necromancy: Instead of conventional necromancy, Malhareff makes use of a strangely technological version - combining tech with magic to animate the corpse, and then install a "personality matrix" of his own design (always visible on the forehead). The matrix acts as the zombie's personality - most of them are coded to "obey Malhareff", but these Matrices can even include such gems as "I never actually died", "I am acting of my own free will" and even "I was dead but now I'm actually alive again".
    • Arsenal: Being a mechanical lich sphinx, Malhareff is armed with a large number of magitek weapons on his person, including eye beams, missiles, lasers and smart bombs.
  • Weaknesses:
    • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: He literally cannot fathom why anyone would reject a good situation where they are profiting and enjoying life in exchange for being righteous. "What worth righteousness? You earn nary a penny for it! Why would you choose unhappiness?"
    • Visible Matrices: His zombies can be mostly shut down if you damage the Personality Matrix enough.
    • Metallic Weakness: Malhareff is made of enchanted metal, but metal all the same, meaning electricity and magnets can do a number on him.
  • Backstory: Initially a regular sphinx, Malhareff came to realize as mortal after mortal failed his riddles that they...just were not smart enough. So he set out to try and forcibly make humanity wise, strong and powerful...under his leadership. To become truly "eternal" he tried to make use of powerful fallen alien magitek, trading in his mortal body for a body of flowing metal. However, the fact he melted the mind of anyone who rejected utopia made him many enemies, understandably enough. Malhareff and his Eternal Horde were defeated by ancient heroes and sealed away in the sands of Egypt. For millenia, the Sphinx watched and formulated plans and ideas. Eventually, after reaching out and explaining a new plan he hatched, the Guardians unsealed Malhareff with the understanding that he help them in their goals of elevating Meta-Humans. Malhareff agreed with the idea, but has his own concepts of how to get to a Utopia...

  • Real Name: Aster Constantine & Avajax, The Iron Mountain, He Who Endures, Devourer of Pain, The Mad Beast
  • Superhero Name: Avajax
  • Age: 18
  • Appearance: She's 5'5" and 135 lbs. Here's Aster and her great-times-many-times grandpappy posing for the camera. Since being "possessed," Aster has gained red eyes and paler skin. Occasionally, lumps can be seen moving about under her skin and strange grinding sounds can be heard when she moves. She hasn't been able to get a costume that doesn't tear when she summons parts of Avajax for help; She's contacted Saint Solutions for some help, but they haven't replied yet.
  • Personality:
    • Aster is calm, collected, and polite. She's as normal as can be for a person possessed by an eldritch being. You can find her chatting amicably with her friends on the phone via texting most days. Aster used to be somewhat dismayed over how to use her great strength without hurting herself and others, but now she's gotten a tenuous handle on it. Aster and Avajax currently have a strong bond. Nothing can tear them apart—literally.
    • Avajax is...hard to describe, as he usually doesn't seem to emote and only makes strange noises that can be described as a combination of whalesong and cooing. However, Aster can understand him and describes him as "affectionate and wise." Avajax is less incomprehensible than unintelligible.
  • Powers:
    • Eldritch Host: Aster is the descendant of Avajax, an Eldritch Abomination who used to be worshipped by multiple cults. By fulfilling several unknown criteria, she was deemed a worthy host. Since Avajax was dying from lack of worship, he asked Aster to be his host so he would be saved. Aster agreed, and then Avajax proceeded to possess her. Aster deemed their relationship mutually beneficial after some careful exploration of their new symbiosis. Avajax, while not able to speak conventionally, obviously cares for Aster like a grandparent. Aster is the only one who can understand Avajax's "vocalizations," and occasionally teases the "old man."
      • Thou Shalt Have Strength: By residing inside Aster's body, he grants her supernatural strength, enough to lift buses and perform other great feats of strength. However, this has a price—normally, such exertions would cause great pain to an ordinary human being. Since Avajax "eats" and nullifies the pain, this is not a problem. What is a problem is that Aster can severely overtax her body if she overuses her super strength and wound herself without even knowing it.
      • Thou Shalt Have Willpower: Avajax lends Aster some measure of his willpower, protecting her against mental influences and the like. Aster has become very resistant to mental influences as a result of this. Also, anyone attempting to read Aster's mind will have a significant chance of being thwarted.
      • Thou Shalt Endure: Aster is hard to injure properly, and even if she is injured, the pain won't affect her—Avajax "eats" the pain inflicted upon Aster, so she doesn't feel a thing. Metallic shards jut from her wounds, sealing them and making it hard to injure her in the same place twice. They are actually parts of Avajax's body, and recede over time as the wounds heal. She has to notice wounds to seal them, which is a big problem if she can't feel pain and thereby know where she is hurt.
      • I Shall Protect Thee: Avajax allows parts of himself to be summoned out of Aster's body, warping her flesh into metallic chimeras. Aster can also summon a metallic outer shell for use as armor. (As implied in one of Avajax's titles, the metal is similar to iron and is about as tough as it too.) Occasionally, Aster can cede control of her body to Avajax for increased abilities, but Avajax will push Aster's body above and beyond her limits, leaving her severely damaged afterwards. Therefore, this is limited to being a Hail Mary move.
  • Gear: N/A
  • Backstory:
    • Aster was born to a normal-seeming family that just happened to be descended from an Eldritch Abomination. She had a fairly happy and average childhood, and displayed traits that marked her a worthy host for Avajax: patience, perseverance, and a willingness to protect others. Aster wanted to be a hero, but had no idea where to start until her teenage years.
    • She was approached in multiple dreams, and after a brief freak-out period, she got to know her great-times-many-times grandfather. After they had bonded more, Avajax asked Aster to be his host, since he would die if he didn't find one soon. Aster agreed, since she had gotten attached to him and "didn't want to lose the old fellow," as she put it.
    • Some time later, she was possessed by Avajax. Aster he realized that this could help her be a hero like she always wanted to be. Taking Avajax's name for her superhero name, she decided to pursue a path of crime-fighting. After some tumultuous stays in the hospital brought on by pushing herself to extremes, she decided to attend Saint Academy in the hopes that it will help her to learn control and use her powers better without hurting herself too much.
    • Following the climactic battle with Elim and his forces, Aster ended up straining herself more than before, earning her an extended stay in the medbay. This made her realize that superheroism might not be for her, so she decided to pursue her other longtime dream of running a food truck business. To earn the money to buy the food truck, she has started working in Saint University's cafeteria. The ability to sprout extra limbs and have fireproof armor is very useful there.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Rust is one of the things that actually hurts Avajax, causing parts of him to "rot" away. It's very painful for both him and Aster, which makes it their primary weakness. Therefore, anybody with a rust-inducing power can defeat the two with ease.

SAINT UNIVERSITY STAFF PART 6

FUJIN: As far as most are concerned, the age of heroes began in 1938 when Saint came onto the scene. Displaying a sense of pure unbridled justice with the might to back it up, he was like nothing ever seen and this much was true. But he wasn’t exactly the first. For about a decade before that, there had been a small wave of crimefighters called Mystery Men operating across the country. Most of these possessed no special abilities, or if they did they were somewhat limited. And while they were dedicated to fighting evil, they were more brutal than the example Saint set. This was never more true than with Fujin.

Fujin’s history goes back considerably further than even the wave of Mystery Men. He was born in Japan in the early 14th century in a small village. His parents were somewhat strict and placed a high value on honor and obedience, but they still cared deeply for him. He was also a natural with a sword. He quickly grew to love the art of swordplay as well as the thrill of battle and adventure. When he was old enough he decided to travel the land, selling his services to who could afford it while helping those he came across. This he did for decades until he became an old man, having also gained a family in the process. From time to time he settled down and tried to raise his family as best he could, but he could never stay away from the life of a wanderer.

Unfortunately, he had also made many enemies over the years. One of these was a powerful sorcerer skilled in the art of dark magic, and the two had fought each other over for decades on end. But eventually, the sorcerer decided it was time to forcibly put an end to their relationship. Luring Fujin to an abandoned spot in the Japanese countryside, he enacted a ritual sacrifice that would kill Fujin in exchange for immortality, planning to gain true power and slay his rival in fell swoop. Unfortunately it backfired spectacularly. With the help of his granddaughter, Fujin managed to turn the tables, and while he wasn’t able to cancel the spell he was still able to reverse it. The result was that the sorcerer was killed in the wake of the spell while Fujin received its' benefits, permanently regaining his youth and becoming unaging while also gaining a host of other abilities. Unfortunately the spell had made him too youthful, permanently regressing him physically to a 12-year-old, though he still has the mind of a surly old man.

At first Fujin wasn’t sure how to take it, but given that he was now immortal, he had plenty of time to cope. It took him a very long time to do so, but eventually he was able to accept his situation as well as the death of his family after they died from old age. It took him well over a hundred years to do so, but as they say, time heals all wounds. With his old life behind him, Fujin did his best to continue where he left off, though having the body of a 12-year-old made that easier said than done. Still, he managed to get by, surviving all the way to 1928. And that was where the fun really started.

After slaying a demon that had been passing itself off as a notorious mobster called Al Capone, rumors of him began spreading via word of mouth and the back pages. He had tried to keep his involvement a secret, but there was only so much he could do. In time, others were inspired by his efforts to do the same, hunting down and going after criminals that the law couldn’t touch. These were dubbed Mystery Men, men (and women,) of great skill and talent taking down crooks and neer-do-wells as well as the occasional dinosaur creature from beneath the Earth, though nothing on the scale or frequency as what the Saint and onwards would deal with. Not that Fujin hadn’t dealt with plenty of oni and other creatures in his day, but most of that seemed to die out for a while until the Saint appeared on the scene. Perhaps that’s why he took an interest in him. He gave him something to do.

After the Saint arrived, most of the Mystery Men quickly began fading from the scene, the Saint’s shining example eclipsing the far less powerful Mystery Men’s more brutal methods. Still, they didn’t all go away overnight. In fact, Fujin saw great potential in Saint. While he himself was nothing of the sort, he still appreciated those who tried to set an example and strive for something better. To that end he decided to assist the Saint until he was able to fully get his act together, teaching him how to fight and better use his abilities while instructing him in how criminals and organized crime and the like operate. While the partnership only lasted several months due to differing styles, the two still departed friends and on good terms, with Fujin having helped strengthen the Saint considerably.

After that, Fujin mostly stayed low, fighting demons, earning a living, and helping those who needed it while keeping out of the public eye. Unfortunately, this changed when the Saint finally bought it. Upon hearing the news, Fujin wasn’t sure how to react. On the one hand he always considered Saint soft, but on the other he had still respected him for that and his idealism. And because of that respect, he felt he should honor the Saint’s memory and assist his former student however he could, ensuring his legacy be remembered and doing his part to protect it. To that end he came out of retirement and enlisted as a combat instructor and philosophy teacher at Saint Academy, instructing his new charges how to defend themselves and others in a rougher, harsher world.

Fujin is a tough nut to crack. On the surface, he can be fiery, impulsive, harsh, and eager for a fight, but beneath that lies a calmer more thoughtful person that struggles to keep himself in check. Most importantly, while he is something of a spitfire, he’s never outright reckless and thinks before he acts when it counts. ‘When it counts’ being the operating words. When it doesn’t count he’ll do whatever the hell he wants regardless of the consequences, even if it pisses everyone else off. Not that he cares. In spite of this he does have a more reflective somber side. One that wonders if his centuries of existence has been worth it. Especially since nearly everyone he’s ever cared about has long passed on. But it isn’t long before he brushes such thoughts aside and gets himself another bottle of sake. He’s also a master of Zen and meditation, not that he’ll tell anyone.

Even before being deaged and rendered immortal, Fujin was a brilliant swordsman. He’s one of the most skilled swordsmen on the planet and no doubt one of the most experienced, and also has a plethora of different skills thanks to his centuries of immortality and drive for self-improvement. Since gaining immortality, he has also gained low-level strength, speed, and agility, as well as the ability to fire blasts of energy and generate forcefields from his sword. He can also concentrate his speed into short bursts that to the untrained eye appear to be teleportation, though that couldn’t be further from the truth. But his main claim to fame is his sword, the legendary Grasscutter itself. He discovered it during one of his travels long ago and has kept ahold of it since. Being a mighty divine blade, the Grasscutter is capable of cutting through anything with ease, which more than has its’ uses.

Fujin enjoys dramatic action flicks and serious dramas, as well as action-packed thrill rides. He enjoys watching fights and reading up on philosophy in equal measure, and trains on a regular basis.

CURRENT PROTECTORS, PART 1

SOLDIER OF FORTUNE: Amos Fortune grew up in a small impoverished town in the deep south. Being an orphan raised in a run-down orphanage in the slums, he didn’t have much choice but to fend for himself or risk getting taking advantage of or worse by those around him. Still, if nothing else it inspired him to work as hard as he could to get out of there. To become someone who would want for nothing and live a life of luxury. And he did. Through hard work, perseverance, and a bit of luck, Amos eventually became one of the wealthiest men on the planet. As well as one of the deadliest. As a means to making his fortune he became something of a mercenary, doing odd jobs to build a foundation and make ends meet. At first it didn’t seem to bother him. After all, he had finally got what he wanted: Fame and fortune. He even started his own casino as though he hadn’t a care in the world. Which was true enough at first.

But after Amos obtained his fortune, he started to think. He had obtained all this wealth and power, but for what? So that he could sit around in some cushy condo and while his days away doing nothing? What was the point? And if there was no point, then there was no point to anything. No point to having gotten that fortune in the first place. No point to all those lives he took to make it. It wasn’t long before he was filled with self-loathing, often putting a gun to his head just wanting it to end. He almost couldn’t live with it. With the guilt, the shame, of having gone through so much and gained so much only for it to mean zilch.

Just as his finger started to pull down on the trigger, he saw a report about the Saint on the news channel. He had just foiled a bank robbery, saving a ton of lives for nothing in return. And it was at seeing this that Amos felt something he hadn’t felt before. After all his years of doing selfish, morally questionable things for his own sake, here was someone who gave everything he had for others. Who put his life on the line to do what was right. To make a difference. Something about that struck a chord with Amos, and he started to wonder if there was a better way. Another route his life could have taken. Just maybe, there was still another way to go.

Inspired by the Saint’s exploits, Amos decided to take his life in a different direction. At long last he had finally discovered a use for his fortune. Rather than using it for his own benefit, he would instead use it for the benefit of others, both establishing organizations to help the homeless and those who had grown up in similar conditions as himself, as well as to become someone who could help others in a more active fashion. Hiring someone to create himself the latest in advanced armor and gear and coupled with his own experience and training, he would become a force to be reckoned with. As the Soldier of Fortune, he would travel the world fighting against injustice and righting wrongs, often for no reward other than knowing it meant something. Which was enough. In time Amos’ activities became notorious enough that he had reached the ears of the Protectors, and was soon recruited into their ranks. Eventually he would prove his worth as one of the most capable people in the group, so much so that he would soon become the Protectors’ leader. A position he still holds to this day.

On the surface Amos is very devil may care. He’s handsome, charming, incredibly confident, and doesn’t bat an eye when faced with perilous situations. He’s also willing to take risks as befits his name. But underneath the facade is a much sadder and remorseful man. One who regrets all the lives he has taken and wants to make amends. And who sometimes believes that for all the good he’s done, it will never be enough. Sometimes this bleeds into his public persona, and when it does, he can be a nasty piece of work. But he always manages to get himself together and do what he needs to in the end.

That said, in the wake of Saint’s death, Amos has begun having doubts. Saint was the one who inspired him to become the man he is today. To use his skills and fortune for good rather than his own self-gain. To only kill when absolutely necessary. But with him gone, he isn’t sure what to do with himself. For now he’s trying to stay true to his convictions and keep the Saint’s memory alive, but he isn’t sure how long that will last.

Amos has no powers of his own. Instead he is a brilliant shot and an expert combatant and survivalist, skilled in a number of different fields and an all-around renaissance man. He also has a suit of Powered Armor he bought from Dr.Reinbach that he uses whenever he needs some extra horsepower, though he prefers to rely on his own talents. He’s also a natural leader and a skilled strategist, which has served him well as the leader of the Protectors.

Amos enjoys light dramas and comedies as well as thriller and heist movies. He’s also a fan of fine wine and dining and is also something of a ladies man.

Luce Morningstar

(Note: His first name is pronounced 'loose')

  • Supervillain Name: Lux Aeterna
  • Age: 25
  • Appearance:
    • Human: Blond-haired and hazel-eyed, a fairly tall, lean, and inhumanly attractive young man. He keeps his hair short. His hair and skin gleam perfectly in the light. His fingernails and toenails are immaculately manicured and painted black. He can also summon his wings while remaining in this form
    • True Angelic: Six black, feathered wings erupt from his back, and a halo of thorns appears above his head. His fingernails become claws and his toenails talons, while his eyes glow with power. His hair grows much longer, and seems to flow in an invisible wind.
  • Personality: The Sin of Pride manifest. Arrogant to a fault, yet cunning enough that somehow it doesn't backfire on him. Despite this, he's surprisingly close to his father. In fact, only his father is truly safe from his backstabbing ways, with everyone else being, in his eyes, pawns for his amusement. While he may on occasion come to care for some pawns more than others, he's always more than willing to sacrifice other people's lives for his own designs. Or just to entertain himself. He's kind of a dick like that.
  • Powers:
    • Nephilim Half-Angel. Like a demon, he is faster, stronger, and more durable than a human, as well as able to fly with his wings.
    • Lightbringer: Power over light itself. In addition to using this power for your standard generic energy blasts, he can unleash actual lasers to cut and burn through whatever he pleases, twist the light to make visual illusions, or simply blind enemies with his brilliance.
    • Child of Lies: Like father, like son, he has a silver tongue. If he tells you something, and you can't immediately prove it's wrong, you'll believe it. He can't quite convince you that the sky is green, or that your mother doesn't love you, but if you have even the tiniest suspicion that what he says may be true, you'll take him at his word, at least until either you observe something that contradicts him, or someone you closely trust says otherwise.
    • A Change of Face: Quite adept at shapeshifting. Beyond merely taking human or demon form, he can change his human form's physical features, even taking on the aspects of animals or turning into animals entirely.
    • Barred From Heaven: Churches, temples, synagogues, mosques. Despite his angelic nature, any kind of holy ground is forbidden to him - he cannot so much as set foot on their grounds. Should he attempt, he will be blocked as though by an invisible forcefield. All things 'holy' and 'divine', regardless of what religion the bearer ascribes to, are also anathema to him, even moreso than any demon. Anyone with 'holy' abilities (exorcists, paladins, demigods, divine spirits, etc.) will also be able to identify him on sight, regardless of what form he takes.
  • Gear: N/A
  • Backstory: "Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste... ah, I kid. Cliches aside, I am what one might call the fruit of forbidden love. Born to a fallen angel and a human woman that he captured and enraptured. Which fallen angel will be left as an exercise to the reader. I'd like to say my father cunningly decided to have an heir on the off chance he was, well, offed, but alas. It was simply a passing fancy gone wrong. Some say that Asmodeus disabled the contraceptive spell he was using. Regardless, father decided having a child could prove useful, and trained me from a young age. The old man's probably aware that I plan to backstab him at some point, but that's a few centuries down the road. Or however long it takes us to conquer the world. Don't worry, we'll be benevolent leaders. Better than any of your Earth politicians, at any rate. I mean, have you seen your own elections recently? Hell of a mess you've made. You're fortunate we're here to clean it up for you. Ciao!"

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

Hoffman's Notes: Wren's Teleportation

By far the most notable ability of the creature is her innate ability of teleportation. And I do mean ‘innate.’ The process is intrinsically tied to her body and even her very anatomical structure, and we suspect her very molecules and perhaps quarks are dimensionally fluctuating. That said, there is a clear process to it, and although it happens at an incredibly fast rate we've managed to capture it on a camera set at roughly 500,000 FPS. The results are as follows:

  1. Subject's body tenses, and muscles appear to brace as if ready to jump. A protective film layers itself over the eyes (a phenomenon detailed in previous notes) and her ears and nostrils become stopped using specific tissues that only seem to activate during this process.
  2. Subject's feathers stiffen, and then move simultaneously into an outwardly-facing configuration. Truly stunning to see the light bounce off these at such high speeds. We were surprised to discover wirelike, prehensile hairs also flaring outwardly during this process, and when we questioned Wren on this she appeared to be able to manipulate them at will. In her own words, she claimed them to be mostly useless.
  3. By this point Wren's skin is visible as the last layers of feathers move away, and she seems to have a surprisingly defined musculature. This was already confirmed by contact with her, but visually it is quite intriguing. It seems that her skin layer is stained with the same pigmentation as her feathers—which is a contrast from her face and neck. We believe there is a thin layer of tough leather covering her from her feet up to the neck.
  4. An electrical phenomenon begins to manifest between the extended tendrils and feathers, and at a speed fast even for this model of camera she begins to dematerialize. The arcs build in intensity until she is completely covered, then appear to unmake her from the inside out. Some feathers are lost during this part of the process, and there was a slight distortion on the camera that lingered for a few microseconds more. It appears that the sulphurous smell originates from this leftover distortion before it fades.
  5. Wren rematerializes in a reversed form of the aforementioned procedure; electrical discharge manifesting and forming the feelers first before constructing the rest of the body. Feathers adjust themselves back into position as said feelers recede, and also seem to shake off microbes of ash and unknown dust particles. Electrical discharge fades by this point, and the protective membranes over Wren's orifices retreat. Her lungs seemed to be partially depleted of oxygen, and they quickly refill. Sulphurous gases and leftover feathers also seem to be transported with her.

The Other Side

The Other Side (as Perry calls it) is a plane of existence that exists like an onion skin under the ordinary world. It primarily serves to hold the souls of people who have done neither good nor bad in their life and has many names, like Sheol, Limbo, Yomi, and Meido. Whatever it's called, it is a place where spirits undergo trials to determine what afterlife they finally go to. Sometimes, spirits manage to drag parts of the Other Side close enough to the ordinary world to affect it out of the sheer desire to stay behind, causing hauntings. For still-living beings, entry to the Other Side usually cannot be gained without the aid of spirits or death gods.

There is one single overarching trial: a long journey that is supposed to lead to whatever Heaven the soul believes in (and if the soul doesn't believe in any Heaven, they are offered a choice between a position as a Reaper or eternal sleep). Smaller trials are conducted while the soul is embarking on the journey, often related to how the soul lived their life. Failing these smaller trials may extend the length of the journey or damn the soul to whatever Hell they believe in/being erased entirely. Refusing to undertake the trials for whatever reason just means that a soul is trapped in the Other Side, barring the intervention of a Heaven's servants ("Shining Ones" according to Perry) or a spirit medium. (The prayers of the living are largely responsible for the former coming to the rescue.) These souls risk becoming Wraiths, angry spirits who need severe intervention to return to their old selves.

In the Other Side, it is cold and dark, which is why lighting candles and incense is important for the spirits there. Candles light their surroundings while the smoke from the incense calms the spirit and leads them on. Distance is warped there, according to the senses of the living, and buildings will sometimes appear there that used to exist. Maps don't work (unless they're magical) and compasses go on the fritz. However, if one knows how to navigate the Other Side without getting trapped in it, it can be a viable way to travel quickly—astral projection is a rudimentary form of this, though the real body stays behind.

The manager of this gloomy realm is Grim Reaper himself (not Death, his twin brother; Death is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, but they're off carousing until said apocalypse, unfortunately so in the ordinary world). The rank-and-file death gods serving under him are called Reapers, psychopomps, etc. who all dress in black robes just like their boss. Their job is to make sure the dead go where they're supposed to go and don't cause trouble in the living world, aided by their alliance to other, more major death gods and living servants such as spirit mediums. Each Reaper has an exceptionally sharp Scythe (or other bladed weapon, Scythes can be modified) that does extra damage to the undead, though the Grim Reaper's is the sharpest and most powerful, only matched by the Lance of Longinus (which gained its power when it pierced Jesus' side).

The Lance of Longinus

The Lance of Longinus is a powerful weapon against the undead, and it has passed through multiple hands since its signature act of piercing Jesus' side. It seems to have a mind of its own, and disappears and reappears based on a basis of whomever is worthy and needs it the most. In the interim, it submits itself to lying in a glass case in the Grim Reaper's office.

Its latest wielders are the Alastor family, who have had it possession for at least 3 generations, which is unusual since it normally sticks around just enough for a significant undead threat to be eliminated. It has even allowed its true form to be sealed into a smaller form, something which is surprising for such a proud weapon. One cannot help but wonder if it foresaw the current chaotic happenings and a certain member of the Alastor family playing a part in stopping it...
