I wouldn't think so, the best episode in the series came directly from the novel. I'd say the more strange novel only matters where the fate of that general that took care of her and the giant battle axe

Not bad, per se, but definitely weird, and less realistic. For instance, in the light novels Violet's preferred weapon is a battleaxe larger than she is tall called Witchcraft. If you remember the scene where she goes to find a soldier on the front and rescues him while he's being attacked, in the novels, she does so by surfing said axe out of the plane.

It's been fun.

Oh yeah, IIRC in the novel Violet is some kind War Godess the found on an island or something.

That at least explains why so many people insisted that a 50 kilo soaking-wet teenage girl is a "living weapon", something that was pretty strange in anime.

I remember seeing one clip of the anime where Violet punches through a horde of enemy soldiers by beating them all with rifles.

Not having any additional context or knowledge, I thought: Man, if she used her rifle to shoot enemies from distance, maybe she could've kept her arms. [lol]

[up]X2 they insisted that because when they found her she killed some of their men. I think it was self defense

If my soldiers were killied by a little girl I would rather pretend that didn't happen.

The anime didn't give an explanation for Violet's strange abilities, but they also made it clear she was something more than human. Without the context of the light novel the audience might assume that she's some sort of lab-grown Super-Soldier or something, but "just some girl who is good at killing" was never really a possibility.

I do like how the anime did it, though. Since Violet is moving on from her past, the source of her superhuman abilities is irrelevant.

I'm not sure if this is the time or the place, but I'm here to spread the good word about our lord and savior, Cale Henituse. Trash of the Count's Family is my very favorite isekai series and I want to talk to everyone about it. Has anyone here read it?

It's a Korean webnovel; I don't know if it fits here, but there aren't really any threads for those or non-manga/anime isekai series that I've found.

[up]It's a Medieval European Fantasy isekai. Rather than being sent to a random fantasy world or video game world the protagonist has reincarnated into the body of a minor antagonist from a book series he's reading. Said book series is also an isekai.

It's a lot different in content compared to most isekai stories that have been coming out of Japan lately, probably at least in part because it's Korean. If you're tired of the harem tropes and poorly-done power fantasies that plague the worst isekai series you might like this one.

It's action-y with a dash of political intrigue, but it can also be really funny. Doesn't have any romance, so there isn't a poorly-written Romantic Plot Tumor. Also there are dragons, were-whales, and found families.

It has a works page here if you'd like to know more!

BTW, anyone reading '''Welcome to Japan, Elf-san!"? That one is pretty good.

Is that the one where she ends up at a farmer's house and they end up getting quarantined by the government? I read that one up until that spoilered point, but that's where I caught up with the plot and I forgot to keep checking for updates.

It's been fun.

No, not that one. So far she's just living with the MC in Japan during Japan's daytime, and the MC's isekai power is that he gets isekai'd when he goes to sleep, and he can take stuff (including her) with him during that process, so they still do isekai fantasy adventure stuff, but the elf gets to go all ooooo escalators and ramen or whatever as well.

Yeah it is, seeing an Elf getting excited about picture books was adorable.

Also, I like how main character is strong but not overpowered, like in latest chapters he struggles against a group of bandits and has to really give his best fighting them. In most other series those guys would be lucky to last three pages.

Yeah, the need isn't really there for the MC to be an absurd power fantasy, so he isn't. Stronger than average for that world no doubt, but that's expected of any MC of any given action genre work tbh.

Huh, I just started Welcome to Japan, and it seems very wholesome so far. I mean, there's a bit of fanservice, but Kazuhito isn't leering at anyone, and he and Mary have a cute relationship already well-established.

It's been fun.

The appeal is definitely more on the wholesome than the fanservice side.

I guess I better check out Welcome To Japan, Elf-san sometime. Considering I tend to hate fanservicey stuff, I'm dying for something that's just genuinely good.

By the way, speaking of isekai manga, has anyone heard of an obscure manga called There, Beyond the Beyond? I know Tokyopop released four volumes of it back in their heyday, but never got to release the whole thing. It's about a twelve-year-old boy who gets dragged into a magical world by a fairy-like girl named Kiara, who's supposedly a sentient flower that mistakes him for being her master, which he isn't. But she can't perform magic without her master, so Futaba decides to help her find her master, and in return, Kiara will return him home. And they get into magical hijinks involving people wanting to kill Kiara for her power. I've heard its pretty good, and I might read it some time, but I want to know what you guys think.

Oh, and from what I've heard, the main male character, Futaba, never learns to fight and isn't overpowered.

Last Boss: Oh right, they can transfer the power, they set it up some time ago. I like how it builds up on things that were long established.

Now Virgo can finally fight on the needed level. I can't wait to see her kick Sol's ass.
