We got the first season when we did because of how dark Volume 3 got, so this would be the time to bring it back.

If all of Team RWBY fall, I hope we don't go down the Voltron route and have a time skip happen for every one else by the time they get out.

The heroes may get sucked up into Vacuo along with Yang in the final chapter.

I just realized how much sheer fanfic material the idea of Yang falling through and into other worlds has.

[up][up]I expect Winter and Ironwood to kill each other.

[up] Words cannot express my relief at seeing the word "Emergence" there links to some fanfic instead of the uh. You know.

[up] I was under an impression that that kind of material is not eligible for being held on TVT to begin with.

It's been pointed out to me that Cinder says "you're deserving of it, Arthur" to Watts before they part ways. That would mirror Watts's earlier dressing down given to Cinder in how you have to be worthy and not deserving. Which is, uh, some chilling parting words for him. I suppose his narrative purpose is spent, but I kind of hope he survives.

Its not anymore thank god, though apparently the linked page does reference it in the "don't confuse this for that other one, please" sense.

A Nywho, What's the likelyhood we're about to see Blake's semblance get an upgrade so she doesn't have to choose between which fight to help in?

Ruby's silver eyes are one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't things for some viewers.

When Ruby uses her silver eyes: Ruby's fighting style is so boring now. She just stands there and uses her silver eyes.

When Ruby doesn't use her silver eyes: But WHY isn't she using her silver eyes? That's a plot hole.

Maybe it's just me, but Ruby's silver eyes have been consistantly inconsistant, to the point where she can either use them in a fight or not and I'd totally buy it, because her batting average with them is pretty even.

I really liked that Harriet and Vine scene btw.

[up] It looked like she was about to go off before Neo jumped in to take a stab at her.

Honestly, Cinder might have gotten better at being smart, but she still can't help herself with a smug, dramatic monologue. I hope Ruby straight up zaps her mid-rant one day.

Thought the whole point of the monologue was to have them focus on her while Neo does her sneak attack.

I love how much fun Watts seems to have when he's doing his thing. I wonder what's going to happen with him. He doesn't have anyone lined up to fight him.

Maybe he regroups with Salem and fills her in on everything that's happened.

No really, if anything RWBY is funny because the villian dosent interact with the heroes THAT much.

Like is funny because Adam said he will hurt everyone blake know and by the time he dies we arent sure he even know Ruby and Weiss exist.

Now I imagine sun facsing adam and he be like "sorry, who are you?"

And on Ruby silver eyes is a issue because is not a new technique in the anime sense but rather a one shot of grimm, so ether if does and kill tension or she dosent and get the plot hole.

It remind me of miruku in inuyasha who have a black hole in his hand, not surprising narauku use a brand of insect that posion his hand if he does randering his power null when the plot need it.

So, I want to bring this example up from the recap page.

  • Kick The Son Of A Bitch: Ironwood blasts Jacques to oblivion, but given how he helped cause the chain of events for this volume, not to mention his history of abusing both his family and his employees (giving a rise to some of the White Fang's more notorious members), he had it coming.

Is this a valid example or would a different trope like Pay Evil unto Evil apply here?

[up][up]To be fair the silver eyes are situational at best.

It's worthless against any none Grimm opponent and a lot of the times with Grimm it's more practical to kill them the normal way.

Welp... I can definitely say shit has gotten even worse than it could have.

  • So, good news first off: Jacques is dead! Okay, it's not confirmed he died in that blast, but he likely didn't have any aura and Ironwood shot him with a BFG at near point blank range.
  • And the Ace-Ops are further divided. Elm has been abandoned by Vine and Harriet, but with the idea Ironwood is disposed, Vine is finally willing to think for himself and has his own Heel–Face Turn. Unfortunately though, Harriet is so wrapped up in grief from Clover's death and spite that she may be too far gone. And when it looked like Vine had the chance to console her, Robyn and Qrow showed up at that moment.
  • Qrow and Robyn are all too willing to chase down Harriet and stop her from bombing Mantle, but Marrow's been left out of commission after Watts makes a Knight suicide bomb them. Considering we don't see Marrow or Elm after this, it's possible the two are on Robyn's ship, but it's also possible they are going through one of the portals.
  • The plan to get to Vacuo they show has a lot more holes they couldn't account for. Perpetual sandstorms ravaging the place, the platforms being very easy to fall off of, and the threat of Grimm like the Ravagers, not to mention the assault by Cinder and Neo. Yeah, it's clear that quite of few have already been knocked off the platforms, and we see several people go the way of Roy and be carried off by Grimm. And of course the fact Ambrosius did follow Exact Words: once they come out in Vacuo, they can't go back.
  • Ironwood surprisingly gets a moment of humanity with his Et Tu, Brute? moment with Winter. As much as he's shut himself off from his heart, the way he reacts to Winter's side change combined with his single tear... Ironwood cared more for Winter than he'd like to admit. She was the only one who was always at his side through all this. Except rather than admit that if even she is no longer willing to support him maybe he's the bad guy, he just does what he always does and doubles down. Ironwood truly is a Tragic Villain.
  • It's fairly obvious Yang didn't die, though I am curious about something. Instead of just falling into darkness, her body actually disintegrates and turns into dust. So... is her body destroyed and gonna get reconstituted somewhere else? Or is it just a stylistic effect.
  • Jinn is effectively out of questions. Cinder used the last one, and Jinn doesn't seem to be impartial, since she expresses concern and possible sorrow upon hearing Cinder's question.
  • And surprise surprise, Cinder has actually expressed development. I don't think she actually cares for Neo and Watts' goals, but after Watts' verbal beatdown, she's actually thinking smarter, manipulating them to suit her own goals rather than just trying to strongarm her way into it. Admittedly, she does seem surprised to see Emerald with the protags now, so maybe she subconsciously did care for Emerald on some level, but it's too little too late now.
  • Penny decides to fight Cinder off after Yang goes bye-bye, and while Blake nearly lets her rage blind her in favor of attacking Neo, after seeing Penny and Weiss struggle with Cinder, she goes to help them, leaving an emotionally compromised Ruby to play defense against Neo. Side note, but I do appreciate Penny creating replica's of Floating Array out of ice. It's a nice mirror to Cinder recreating Midnight out of glass.

So right now:
  • Ren, Oscar, and Emerald are stuck in the outskirts of Vacuo trying to defend the refugees from Ravagers, with Ren's aura down due to overexerting himself.
  • Yang is MIA, with Ruby fighting Neo, Penny and Weiss fighting Cinder, and Blake rushing to help them. They're pretty much on their own too since Ambrosius' door is one way, the only possible help being Nora and Jaune, who are still escorting refugees.
  • Ironwood and Winter are all set to fight in the Winter Vault, with both making clear they don't intend on letting the other leave alive.
  • Qrow is fighting Harriet in the ship with the payload, Vine is hanging on for dear life, and Robyn is trying to ram the ship off course, with Watts remotely activating Auto-Pilot to make sure the payload does get dropped.
  • And Marrow and Elm are currently who knows where, while Salem is still close to regenerating.
So, yeah, shit's fucked.

[up]I don't think Yang actualy disintegrates so much as she seems to fall through some kind of surface.

I'm going to chalk Robyn crashing into the ship as Qrow's semblance kicking in to make it happen at the worst possible time.

So with Yang it looked like she fell through a cloud-like substance rather than disintegrating. She doesn't fall apart, she displaces something that covers her up again.

"Admittedly, she does seem surprised to see Emerald with the protags now, so maybe she subconsciously did care for Emerald on some level, but it's too little too late now."

Its actually a very good thing Emerald redeemed herself when she did, now that Cinder is trying to 'Act' more Affably Evil towards people it's possible she would have given Emerald the affection she wanted, keeping her from defecting. Thankfully Emerald has both already defected and is halfway across the world from her now

Finally got around to watching the episode (thoughts below at least 50% Joking Mode):

    ORNJE

- don't make Jaune the comic relief again please show I'm begging you

- augh

- not just negativity, Nora, a kingdom's worth of people who are probably not going to have enough resources

    The Subway

- auuuugh

- yeah people are falling off

- I'm so unsurprised that this could possibly have consequences

    Cinder

- that's a count of 1 person falling

- no, wait, that's more than one person. I'd guess... 5, 10?

- yes, use the civilians to demonstrate the pitfalls of this plan, they're animate background props anyway

- I doubt we're ever going to hear about those civilians again except in a general manner like "man this sucks, remember when Cinder blew some people off the edge of the weird bridges?"

    NWC

- is this a flashback or something? I'm gonna assume that it is

- Cinder said she was sorry to Neo, once-in-a-lifetime event

- I'm reminded once again about how weirdly sexualized the spirits are

- interesting, Jinn looked a bit sad during that. Oh well that's the third question so she's basically out of the story

- ah, so Watts cut the signal, makes sense

- oh no is Marrow dead or will he have a dramatic scene first

    Jailed

- ah, Jacques, never change, especially because you're probably going to be rendered a nonentity in regards to the plot soon

- oh no look how sad Ironwood is for having to face consequences

- so Jacques is dead?

    Back to the Fight

- I like the monologue haha

- I'm honestly amused that CRWBY thinks Yang falling off is going to evoke emotions in me. I mean, sure, some civilians needed to be killed off for Cinder's entrance, they served their purpose admirably, and now no one will ever bring them up again except in a general context where someone on the main team is complaining about how much they've failed this volume. But sure, make it a big shocking moment when one of the title characters falls off. Yang'll be fine, the void only kills those without Plot Armor and she has that in abundance. Plus the weird visual effect seems to be hinting at something

- Only main characters get to emotionally react when their friends/family get knocked off into the void, everyone else just has to deal.

- Penny only reacts when someone yells the name of a main character who's fallen into the void, otherwise she just stands there and stares at the portal.

- See above point on only main characters getting to emotionally react

- Weiss why are you saying "Penny no"

- Blake you're not helping just standing there

    In The Ship

- Harriet you keep being the worst, why do you need to check if it's still armed?

- Vine telling it like it is

- Harriet your kingdom is literally going to crash into the ground and you're putting loyalty over thousands of lives?

- I really doubt Clover wouldn't see sense, Harriet

- Show, this is not going to make up for Harriet continually being the worst

- Robyn you have the worst timing

- Harriet no why did you kick Vine out of the ship, you are the worst

    Winter

- Winter acting like a cat and following the laser pointer over here

- and the people who predicted this turn of events rejoiced.

- Ironwood you don't get to issue last warnings after you shoot people

    Sandstorm

- that Grimm has no right to be as echoey as it is, the acoustics of the landscape are all wrong

- yeah uh some of those people are dead

Anyway, this episode is meh. Not too fussed about Yang falling, though I am peeved that Nominal Importance rears its head so obviously here.

[down] Yeah, after rewatching the scene it was the Knight who fell down. My bad.

[down][down] Huh. Sorry about that. Was intending to be funny, but Poe's Law [[Sincerity Mode I suppose.

...Elm isn't dead. You can see her waking up after the kamikaze Knight. The thing that fell off the edge of the hanger was an Atlesian Knight. Marrow isn't dead either, we just see his aura break, not him die.
