Deconstructing an Edgelord

I've been mulling over a character concept in the back of my mind for the past few days. Thinking about a "deconstructed edgelord," character archetype for her.

What I've decided is that on the surface, I want her to come across as a parody of edgy characters. Gonna give her a katana, a demon possessing her, a very black color scheme... plus I'll give her the ability to teleport behind people. Straight up thinking of calling her "Ejah," too.

But, I do want to give her a sort of deeper characterization that explains why she is the way she is in a way that makes her sympathetic, albeit flawed. Give her some contradictions to her characterization.

One of my thoughts was to make her a survivor of a tragedy when she was a pre-teen. She came out of it a scared child, and now without a family to raise her, she remains one deep down, even years later. So her "edgy fashion style" is because that's what she thought a badass looked like when she was younger and there hasn't been anyone to tell her otherwise as she grew older. I can give her little nods that harken back to a happier time, when she still played with dolls and had no worries in life (i.e, in her official bio, her "favorite color" would be "I have no time for such trivialties" written in pink text).

I think she could be motivated by a fear of being helpless. She tries to show no weakness, and spends as much time as she can trying to be stronger. And then, while people mistake her constant need to face stronger opponents as a sort of Thrill of Battle / Bloodlust... any time she's defeated (or prevented from fighting), she'll respond with what seems to be anger and frustration, but is really just masked anxiety and despair.

So, I think I already have a Somewhat well-developed character (just writing this post seemed to help me put my thoughts together WHOOPS). That said, I still kinda want to hear people's thoughts on what defines an Edgelord character, and how you guys would deconstruct one.

There's another thing I'm missing and that's making her not "exclusively miserable," either. It may have to come later in her "story" when she's gotten more time to develop, but giving her happiness at times can probably create some powerful moments.
