Alternatively, a couple Calvin And Hobbes examples that show the time passage instead of merely stating it, each of which are only 2 out of 4 panels. If it is at all permissible to use 3 out of 4 panels, please let me know.

Either C&H is good...although, I have to admit that the punchline of it taking 50+ years for the burn to sink in in the current makes it more funny to me.
I prefer the updated current as well.

Both the updated current and the first Calvin and Hobbes work, though I'm partial to the latter. No reason other than personal preference.
