The reason 76's bugs were so panned, and the reason I don't think it's going to have the biggest impact on the reception, is that it was multiplayer, though? Bethesda's probably going to be perfectly fine because the competition in the high fantasy RPG sector isn't super aggressive and nothing offers anywhere near the modding support. If they think ahead, don't delay the creation kit like with Fallout 4, and consider something to help port (non-trivial, e.g. texture/model) mods...
Avatar SourceThe point is that Bethesda, despite the generally buggy games they release, had a lot of goodwill because it's easy to look past the bugs in Skyrim for how amazingly fun and long-lasting the game has been, with a general feel of quality about it.
Fallout 76 commited the crime of not only being buggy, but also not being fun, and having a cheap feeling, especially for the extras (that canvas bag fiasco in particular would have deleted the majority of people's goodwill toward Bethesda just for being an absolutely scummy move).
Just as Cyberpunk deleted much of the goodwill people had towards CDPR and their future games won't be instant buys, Fallout 76 did the same for Bethesda and they have their work cut out for them to make up for it when ESVI gets released. Time is on their side though, ESVI has no release date yet, or has any information released about it. If they learn from F76 and Cyberpunk's shortcomings, they can use those lessons to make ESVI avoid those pitfalls.

You'd hope so, but when have people ever stopped pre-ordering games, no matter how many times they got burned before?
And really, 76 isn't really that much of a surprise in hindsight - because Bethesday always delivers buggy games that don't live up to the promises. Todd Howard always lies about the game's capabilities.
76 was more noticeable due to how much shit went wrong - it was like a perfect storm of bullshit, moldy merchandise included.
Not like it will matter because a lot of the people who complained about the game will still pre-order the new Elder Scrolls' special edition(s) because of pure impulse control.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. At what point in an Elder Scrolls game (be it level, feat, perk, or what have you) would you say that your character truly becomes "powerful?"
At what point do you typically feel like you're having a good time, killing enemies without too many sword sponges and without steamrolling them?
At what point lore-wise did you feel like you were actively making a difference?
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Level 100 with both a damage stat and crafting stat.
In Oblivion, never. In Skyrim, as soon as you can shout things off ledges.
Avatar SourceYou literally kill the second dragon you ever see. Feel pretty good right around then. That's a trap of course. Get you nice and cocky for your first frost troll encounter
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youYou and a small army of guards and an unkillable NPC.
Avatar SourceI started feeling like a badass when I finally got the Skyforge Steel sword in the Companions Questline.
I started feeling like a Physical God when I got Smithing to 100 and started crafting Dragonbone Armor and Daedric weapons (this was back in the vanilla game so Dragonbone weapons weren't a thing yet).

Disgusted, but not surprisedHave you guys heard about All In All. He's Russian animator/musician who is apparentely big fan od more... exotic side of The Elder Scrolls universe. He produced quite a few c0da-like short movies and at least some of them are pretty damn good.

One brief sex scene (kinda explicit) in a middle section.
No visible nudity, though the audio is sex sounds.
I eagerly look forward to a mod to remove all the garbage from the creation club.
Hey, Bethesda, you know that people like to choose their fucking mods, not have 500 bits of random crap shoved at them?
Avatar SourceAnd not one word about bugfixes...
So much for Microsoft being the way to get them to QA things.
If you ever believed Microsoft was ever going to make them go back and QA old games, I have a bridge to sell you.
Bethesda post about it here. Everyone with Special Edition apparently gets Fishing, Survival Mode, and the Saints and Seducers bits of Creation Club, but the big compilation is in the Anniversary Edition.
Existing owners of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition and Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also receive the option to purchase an Anniversary Edition upgrade for their Special Edition version of the game to gain access to all the additional content found in the Anniversary Edition.
Sounds like Anniversary Edition is a paid upgrade. I hope the CC stuff is implemented in an alright way. I remember launching Oblivion' GotY and, you know, just getting blasted with all sorts of not particularly naturally implemented DLC. Hurts my immersion, you know.
But hey, fishing. Curious as to how in-depth that'll be, or if it'll be a fairly simple: click on pool, pull out when the rod shakes. Don't mind either way, really.

The in game fish barely have use? Like, most are ingredients, and 1 is food. And Heartfire already allows you to have a fish farm.
Is there a point to fishing?
I would assume that the mod would add more fish and actual uses for the fishing... otherwise lol.
This being Bethesda I can't take that for granted.
If you have survival mode on, diving into Skyrims freezing water to grab fish for ingredients is suicide
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI sure hope Bethesda is ready to address the 0kb save bug if they're going to force Creation Club content into the game now. Incidentally I guess this means no more new Creation Club content in the future either.
I have literally no idea what the source is, but anime waifu versions of the important dragons.

I hope that people will be a lot less forgiving of any bugs in the next Elder Scrolls, after all the Fallout 76 bugs and issues, and the buggy mess that was Cyberpunk 2077.
Edit: Not the worst page topper...
