What's the exact difference of Area of Effect, Geo Effects and Field Power Effect? While I get that AOE is a more temporary variant of Geo Effects, I don't get how Field Power Effect relates to the other two.

Yeah, AOE is the generally more temporary version, which tends to be an explosion, gas cloud, or spell of some sort. It's a single spell or attack that affects an area rather than a discrete target.

I'm not really sure on the difference between Geo Effects and Field Power Effect. They're essentially the same thing, as they're bound to the terrain. Field Power Effect seems to claim Geo Effects is about physical terrain, while Field Power Effect is a supernatural version. However, Geo Effects doesn't support that definition, since it also includes supernatural effects.

Closest I can figure is that Geo Effects is where the individual has an added advantage in certain environments, while Field Power Effect is where the terrain gives certain advantages to specific types of characters. There is a lot of overlap, certainly, but Geo Effects slants towards more mundane situations like Rambo in the jungle vs. an open field while Field Power Effect is more about a mana boost like waterbending in the snow.

Field Power Effect seems to have some overlap with Area of Effect as well, in that many of the examples cover effects that can both exist naturally and can be brought into being by a spell or character ability; the Pokémon weather effects, for example, can be found in certain areas of the game world and also caused by mons' moves or abilities. But AOE covers area attacks, while FPE is limited to status buffs and changes.

Area of Effect is more centered around a person, icon or weapon, and is a better defined gaming term referring to the specific range of an effect. A major element of buffing or nerfing gameplay elements depends on how they manage the area of effect. The other two are broader ideas based around strategy and position.
