A long time ago, almost a decade now, I came up with the idea to do a Roleplay based on Order of the stick. It went well, for the most part, but like several things, it kinda faded into the obscurity of the website.

But now I'm BACK. I'm SLIGHTLY better at writing, DECENT at plot and PASSABLE at structure! So let's give it a shot!

Taking all the inspiration from OOTS, TNG will be a similar experience for the players, a world of Dn D in a currently vague edition, off to find their fortune, their destiny, honor, and even more importantly, a name for their god damn guild!

Sign up sheets will look like this!

  • Name: Obvious.
  • Class: What Class is your guy?
  • Race:
  • Personality:
  • History:
  • Strengths and Weaknesses:
  • Other fun info:

Not a lot of experience with Dn D, but if that isn't an issue I would like to give this a shot. What level will we be starting at?

Level 1, and to be fair OOTS is so loose on its own interpretation of the rules, it'd be easy to follow anyway.

Figured I might import and reskin a character I made for an Allurand RP because I'm too lazy to think up another one. Please tell me if I need to scale him down a bit.

  • Name: Zephyr the Drunk
  • Class: Fighter
  • Race: Human
  • Personality: Zephyr's pretty cheerful about 95% of the time because he's a really happy drunk. The other 5% of the time is either spent nervously rambling about some nameless "things in the dark" or crying. Nevertheless, he still possesses enough sense to watch his teammates' backs and guide them, should they need his advice.
  • History: Zephyr used to be some peasant kid who ran away to join the army because he thought it would be "cool" that he would get glory from fighting. When he joined up, he was made to dispose of that idealistic notion, and ran away from the army to become a wandering sellsword. He took a new name for himself, and started drinking like every day would be his last. The army he ran away from is still after him for his crime of desertion.
  • Strengths:
    • Zephyr is really, really good at swordfighting and archery while drunk. He staggers around so much that it's really hard to judge where he'll strike or if he'll miss his shot. The drink also dulls the pain he feels from wounds and "makes him stronger" (or at least he believes so), so good luck stopping him when he's fighting drunk. He can also hold his drink pretty well—something that might help him resist poisoning (or so he believes).
      • He's got a pair of really good swords and a bow that he stole from his commanding general when he ran away from the army. If only he'd stop wasting arrows shooting at deer that turn out to be rocks...
    • While he isn't mainly magic-user, he's managed to learn some spells which are useful to him as a fighter—a collection of healing spells for various degrees of wounds. The other spells that he knows cure hangovers and prevent alcohol poisoning. The latter is the only reason why he hasn't keeled over dead from drinking too much.
    • He's heard a lot of rumors and gossip over the years, and holds some scraps of magic knowledge. The main problem with this is that the authenticity of the things he hears are often questionable. His "knowledge" still makes for some great conversation pieces, though.
  • Weaknesses:
    • Zephyr is weak to promises of good booze and pleasures of the flesh. It's comically easy to lure him someplace with the promise of good wine. He also seems to have permanent beer goggles and pretty much flirts with everything that moves. Let's hope he doesn't meet any Succubi...
    • Sometimes Zephyr gets the urge to do some very strange things. Those things will seem perfectly sensible to him at the time, and he will more often than not go forward with his mad schemes as soon as he comes up with them.
  • Other: 5'5" and 170 lbs. This 55-year-old man can and will kick your ass even though he's half-sloshed. His hair is greying, but don't you dare mention it!
  • Alignment: Chaotic Good

What class would be good for someone totally inexperienced with d&d and work well with the two we have so far?

At the moment, you guys use some kind of Tank, which would be either a Barbarian or a Paladin.

Name: Naman "Mountainleaver" Geanaga

Class: Barbarian

Race: Goliath

Personality: Aside from his berserker rages it's actually rare to see Mountainleaver angry, though any kind of cheating will do the trick. He also keeps a journal with anything noteworthy he and his teammates have done, including how often it happened. In fact he fancies himself being somewhat of a storyteller even though his stories are among the lines of "I once killed a goblin by hitting it in the chest with a rock." with no buildup or anything.

History: Naman, like all Goliaths, grew up in a tribe living high atop the snowy mountains. Though while he pulled his weight he had no love for the ice and snow, and after a group of adventurers saved his life from a yeti he convinced his clan leader to let him go with them to repay the favor, a feat which earned him his current nickname. However after it became clear that due to his low level he wasn't as helpful as he liked the party's palladin suggested he repay the favor by saving other innocents from monsters and he joined a lower level party to do just that.

Strengths and Weaknesses:As could be expected from someone who has lived there for most of his live Mountainleaver knows how to survive in the mountains. He also knows to handle himself in freezing cold climates and in the type of forests you find near or at the treeline. As can be expected he is also physically strong and skilled with his battle ax.

While not dumb growing up in a village where everyone did their part for the whole he can be somewhat naive and easily tricked. He has zero understanding of politics and it's pittfalls due to growing up somewhere where jobs went to whoever was best suited for them. Since stupid behavior could easily lead to death he has little experience with alcohol and gets drunk quickly. Finally he can't stand high temperatures.
