I'm thinkin' a 4-on-4 2D Fighter with a fifth slot on both teams reserved for a Dragon.
I'm thinkin'... at least fifteen characters to start, evenly distributed between elements. So something like

I sometimes wonder what a Switch version of this game would look like.
Would they have to tone down on the gacha elements to double down on the story mode and if you want more heroes/dragons, you could just buy them with wyrmite?
Better yet, would you be able to connect the iOS and Android versions to a hypothetical Switch version via Nintendo Network accounts and migrate all your data/stats/heroes/dragons from the smartphone games onto the hypothetical Switch version?
I was thinking of a Roster with somewhere around 28-30 Adventurers and 9-11 Dragons at launch, with one Original Generation Character for each.
Honestly, I don't think Console ports of Gacha Mobile Phone games are a bad idea, especially if people get invested into the story like with Fate/Grand Order, but the Gacha elements are always going to be a turnoff for most people.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. A few characters per element, with them making sure to have a couple characters per weapon as well. Since everyone with the same weapon usually fights identically in Dragalia and as such there's less to draw from, limiting to a couple per weapon would give them a little less tension in thinking up divergent movesets for them: focusing instead on characters with unique personality that can fill the cracks.
For example, I'd pick Aeleen because her split personality is an obvious excuse to build her into a stance character. Or, say, one of the Circus characters, because while it doesn't really affect their normal gameplay, it could add some real differences when reimagined. Likewise, characters with alts that have different weapons or abilities would help, because you could just composite the two styles into something new.
It also interested me that - from what little I know of Granblue's story (IE, from trawling our character pages on the franchise after getting the fighting game) - Versus doesn't pick so much from the story's main characters as much as a small handful of main characters with the bulk being popular or interesting gachas instead.
IIRC, Versus' roster was picked on the basis for both who would fight well in a fighting game and they wanted to use Versus to give a spotlight to characters who aren't in Granblue Fantasy Relink.
dunno how much that second line of thought would apply to Dragalia's hypothetical fighting game
I made a thing for the Internet derived from this game.
"Bullets Don't Work, Euden."
SO HOW ABOUT THAT INTERLUDE HUH
The fifth scion is a Sealed Can Of Evil under Aurelius' orders and released by Phares, Aurelius possibly adopted another baby to become Euden when the original died from Wyrmscale, and there's an actual confirmed origin for fairies! (except Notte who is special or smth)
Speculation: With the establishment of northern lands being home to most fairies, the introduction of all these guys coming from the north like Joachim, Kirsty, Noelle, etc, I'm guessing Finlorda is a noble from the same region and that region's going to become an actual part of the main story pretty soon.
Here's a 1.5 anniversary Dragalia Digest!
Gala Alex, event replay mode, encyclopedia, changes to co-abilities, modifications to skill selection... also Fire Emblem: Lost Heroes is coming back mid April, and all the Fire Emblem characters are getting mana spirals! Also, a new Fire Emblem event is starting after that :o
I wonder who will be the new crossover characters. My bet is on Sharena and maybe Anna or Eir, with another lord from the main games (I'd guess Chrom or Roy if they want a known name, or Ephraim or a Three Houses lord if they want a different weapon than the usual sword).
After the last Agitos story bits I figured they were going to become part of the plot.

Lyndis will happen. She's the most popular character in the franchsie.
If we go by the first CYL (you know, the one most people actually voted in and that had all the characters) Ike actually takes that spot. Lyn is a very close, very respectable second, though.
...Then again, this is a gacha, which means the waifu-er, the likeliest you are to be included and overpowered.
Four Stars can be really good and not just bad. Alt!Hope and his Def Regen Team Buff is Great and not something Inexpected for anSword Unit.
Was Fjorm's story still going on in FEH when the crossover was announced or was book 3 already starting?
Because I feel like Sharena, Eir, and a Three Houses character seem like pretty safe bets.
Other then that, lots of good news, an encyclopedia feature is long overdue, Aldred and the Syndicate stuff is intriguing, event replay system means I can finally finish off my event facilities, Fafnir medal shop is good, and some of the UI was also long overdue for an overhaul.
Re: main story previews, I guess we'll see if Fractured Futures had any effect on the main story or is going to be in the same weird lore bomb but ambiguously canon as What Makes the Sky Blue with Granblue.
Book 3 had already started. The sinister theme was Hels song.
Ah I see, yeah I think Eir is probably going to feature then.
I wonder if we'll get another new song like Daoko's Fire Emblem rap.
RE: Fire Emblem event: Yooooooooooo! Marth, here I come! (If only because I get grumpy when I see others have him.)
What'd be even more awesome is if we got a Mega Man X event later on. (Just saying.)
I'm really excited for OG FE adventurers Mana Spirals, even if Veronica may never reach Gleo levels and is not part of the poison meta, she's still my favorite shadow wand.
The new Memories of Youth wyrmprint was very interesting as a glimpse into the royal family as kids
It's food for thought on how Emile's being treated in the mini-story and Chelle and Phares having a close bond is cute.
though I have to reassess Valyx's appearance if that's accurately representing him as a kid and not just artistic license/lighting being weird.
Alex SP fill is so QUICK!
Well now I have like 500 hustle hammers. Time to build up some dojos!
... I also have 10000 Dyrenell Aes, 10000 Dyrenell Aureus and 100 Dyrenell Argenteus.
What the hell is this game's problem with silver. First the emblems and then this.
You trade in gold to get double silver.
IDK why its like that either
I'm only going for the free pulls this Gala. If I get Galex, great, if not, eh. I'm far more interested in the FEH adventurers, anyways.
I'm also rolling in Wyrmite thanks to the Event revivals and the new quests. Unless the new raid has some truly amazing characters, I'll probably have a respectable stash saved up for the end of April.
