Nintendo's new mobile game is launching soon!
Anyone else interested in this? Personally, the focus on lore and cute character design mean that I'll at least check it out.
I'm willing to give it a shot since it looks a bit interesting and I want to see how well Nintendo handles a game like this. Already pre-registered for it, even.
However, I have a feeling the usual barrier I hit when it comes to most mobile games like this will come up and I won't play it for longer than a week maybe.
No idea if I'll like this, but I've been wanting to try out a new gacha. Helps that Cygames has a good reputation. First step is to decide whether or not I want to re-roll for a favored character or not.
It'll probably be a while before we even know who the reroll-worthy characters are.
oops I linked my nintendo account to the original save before I started rerolling, I really hope that doesn't screw me over.
Anyway first impressions is voice acting is much better than the crap that was in trailers, the side comic is literally just GBF's side comic right down to the same artist or at the very least someone trying to imitate them, and combat is functional but a little finicky with navigation.
I haven't gotten far in the story but bad future imouto was actually a bit surprising.
Really? I thought it was immediately obvious especially once I looked at their very specific hairstyles... I'm just glad it was revealed early on and not dragged out.
I think the Granblue comparisons go a little deeper than just the mini-comic looking similar (such as the additional, non-story-linked adventurers you summon having their own "Fate Episodes", as it were), but it's not a straight 1-to-1 either, so I believe it'll be able to form its own identity even to those who've played the hell out of Granblue.
That said, I definitely think Dragalia is an alternative Granblue Fantasy, but as an Action RPG with a different art direction. Although this is just first impressions speaking.
Anyways, this thing takes up too much data when fully downloaded for me (about 2.3 gigs), so I've cleared the data and restarted (though I already linked my account, not that I plan to reroll at all) to see if the voiceless batch option works out better.
More "huh so that's the direction they're going with her" than anything else.
honestly I think the most hilarious thing about the Dragalia/Granblue comparisons is they literally just took Damascus Ingots and Sunlight Stones from GBF without actually changing their general utility and technically made Sunlight Stones more accessible but also made them straight up buyable without grinding or whaling.
Seems decent so far. Gameplay is snappy, though controls do feel kind of awkward. Maybe I'll get used to them. Gacha is trash so far. Got some 4* characters at least, but no one too interesting among them. Story certainly has more effort put into it than Nintendo's other gacha game that's for sure.
I'd really like to play this game in the future, but since I am currently playing multiple gacha games (GBF, FGO, SV), I think I would drop one of them for DL. Three gacha games are enough for me already...
BTW, I have a few questions:

Made a super rudimentary page here, go nuts.
Also Forte appears in a wyrmprint and apparently Cerberus does as well.
Decided to re-reoll after playing an hour. Was kind of a pain, but I eventually got something interesting. Only 4* character is Berserker, but I did get 5* dragon Jeanne. This should be worth keeping.
You do a small download before every level and cutscene.
I've been having good luck. Got Jeanne and a few 4*s. Thus far, Johanna and Cleo are competing for best girl, and Luca's got best boy down on lock.
I told myself I wasn't gonna play the game unless there's a character that speaks to me, rarity be damned... and then I got a 5* Paladyn named Julietta who is basically a scantily clad axe-wielding Cure Twinkle. I'll take it. Since then I also picked up a 5* card but I wouldn't mind more 5* characters.
The game is cool so far, but this is day 1, see if I still am playing it 1 week from now.
Oh, there's an option in System to download all the data.
edit: Dang, that menu music is super catchy. Now if only there's an option to turn the music's vocals off only during the boss fights.
Also, both times I pulled a 5-star item, two silver/gold dragons assist the summoner. (Though I saw a youtuber get a 5-star card without having dragons...)

I haven't seen any expies from Granblue yet, which is the only Cygames game I've played, but I recognize the Slime enemies are straight from there. I wouldn't be surprised if GB's Bahamut, Proto-Bahamut, or even Vyrn made an appearance as one of the dragons.
As for characters, I got Vanessa from the tutorial summon, and not much else from my one attempt at the 10x summon. I'm trying to avoid looking up what other characters exist in the game for the time being and want to be surprised by any characters I get. The Helper selection is enough of a preview for me.
On a side note, the Japanese really seem to like Jeanne d'Arc/Joan of Arc for her to seem like such a common fixture in Japanese fantasy titles in recent years... Maybe I'm only just noticing, but among the mobile games I'm currently playing, the character is in FGO (no surprise there though), Granblue, and now this game...
EDIT: And right after posting this, I find out there's a trope page for characters influenced by Joan... So I guess I'm just late to the party as usual.

Am I the only one who finds the summon music a tremendous earworm?

I personally hate it as much as the boss battle music... :)
But unlike the boss battle music, I have to concede that it's an Ear Worm.
edit: It's slightly better when it's not repetitive and has dancing cops.

Apart from the massive cross-promotion with DAOKO, seems they also contracted ufotable to do a TV ad in Japan. It's clear Cy Games and Nintendo are really pushing this to be the next successful mobage:
Here's hoping there's going to be a spin-off anime.
Man, it hasn't even been a week and we're already getting a special event
It'll be a raid against a flame-element boss. You can possibly get a character out of this, and also get peregrine blazons you can use to summon exclusive dragons, wyrmprints, and more.
I am playing this game and I like blowing things up with Althemia:
That is all.
Just started, finished Chapter 1, and liking it, though I've only played one other Gacha Game, and that was Marvel Future Fight.
Overall it's cute and charming, and while some tracks can be repetitive I appreciate just how much the soundtrack tries to stick out, and the production values are nice. That said I do wish these games started out...harder. I know later content can typically get incredibly difficult but I already fear every upgrade item is Too Awesome to Use since I don't even need them yet.
So the event that was supposed to start today... didn't. With no notice message or anything. A little weird.
Been playing throug this a bit. The soundtrack really is a bop and very fun to listen too.
Started playing this morning. How many chapters are there so far?
6 chapters, but there's also a Hard Mode for all the chapters that unlocks later.
How long is one chapter?
