Chucky returns, with KatzSmith Productions (It) producing.

Interesting cast.

Based on my assumption, Paperboy is going to be Chucky. Well guess that means all of the cast of Atlanta played as charcters that I like.

The only question is whether or not Jennifer Tilly will be in this movie, and the answer had better be "yes".

The movie is coming out the same day as Toy Story 4. That's some hilarious counterprogramming.

A poster has also been released.

Wait, what?

I just read up on Cult of Chucky and it sounds like a brilliant sequel. Why reboot it now? Gosh-darn it Hollywood.

[up]IIRC, Chuck's also getting a TV Series, so they're probably going to continue the original movie series there.

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?

You know that teaser reminds me of the Good Guy doll toyline that was shown in the original film. Their commercial could really pass as an authentic 80's toyline.

Probably because they had the actual Ruby-Spears animating it. I think the kid who did the Good Guy voice actually did voice several toys back then, too.

That's actually awesome. The Good Guy dolls could be a good doll line if it wasn't for it originating from a horror movie.

The "Child's Play" doll was almost definitely inspired by a real doll marketed to boys called My Buddy.

Still can't believe Jennifer Tilly is not getting a part in this movie.

It's reaching the point where I can't tell if you're kidding or not.

[up]I'm not! How can they not give her a Remake Cameo at least?

Probably because she's intended to show up in the TV series that follow up the original films, and whenever anybody involved with them has spoken up on social media about the remake, it's to bash it. Don Mancini, Chucky's creator, only tweets pithy memes whenever something new about this movie gets publicized, and Tilly seems to be a close personal friend of his. I don't think she'd be game to show up in this film when the original producers don't even want to acknowledge its existence.

They're really going all in on the high-tech aspect, or so it would seem.

I have trouble getting a feel for the tone of the movie from that trailer, but it doesn't look like a horror-comedy like some of the later sequels.

Interviews said that this version of Chucky was a rogue AI, which goes against the entire point of the innocent doll being a serial killer douchebag. Chucky killed for the hell of it, not because some AI misinterpreted “protect child” as “kill everyone around child.”

I don't have a problem with the killer doll not necessarily being murderous because of possession. The creator didn't even have that angle in his original draft. Just give this new Chucky the kind of memorable personality I enjoy the original one for.

In a way, it makes it stand out from the other one's shadow. Also this gives the movie a sci-fi tech feel, in contrast with the subtle supernatural backdrop of the original. As someone said, in the original draft Chucky was going to be brought to life by Andy mixing his blood with his.

I think it also gets rid of the question of who could top Brad Dourif. I'm beginning to believe Chucky is going to sound like a kid all the time in this one, which could be creepy in its own way.

You know it would be funny if there was a fan comic where the original Chucky reacted to this version being an Al gone rogue.
