I am… since I'm a fan of it and have read all the volumes. X) It starts off as relatively generic but becomes more distinct as it goes on… Problem is, the anime will probably adapt only the early parts.
I'm kinda hyped and kinda worried. Seth's voice actor is horribly miscast, for one. He sounds way too young.

The first episode is out!
I have some gripes − I still find Seth's voice too young, the opening sucks and you can clearly spot right away which characters were designed by the author and which weren't (like that little boy, Tommy).
But other than that… the visuals are quite nice, and in terms of storytelling this is a vast improvement over the manga's first chapter. They kept the core of Seth's character while removing his more idiotic and annoying moments (like punching the Nemesis egg to make it hatch). I don't know if the changes were Tony Valente's ideas, but they're definitely for the better, and more in line with the quality of the later volumes. Having the Bravery Quartet intervene to save Seth instead of already being there from the start is also a clever tweak.
So yeah, I'm now pretty optimistic. The opening still sucks though.
I definitely gonna see it. Also, @Lyendith Yeah...I was expecting the OP to be like Fractale one but the current opening seems kind of shonen-ish which is okay in my book but I'm cool with it.
And the Voice actor for Seth. Iirc, also voices a certain female character from Shichisei no Subaru and it's uhhh...Interesting I guess.

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Alright...I just saw Episode 1:
I change my mind on the theme song. It ended up becoming a personal earworm of mine. While not as great as Hinomaru Zumou's OP, it's still great nonetheless. At least in my opinion. As for the episode? It's an interesting one although I kind of agree a little bit that Seth VA is a bit of a miscast (Heck I actually prefer Hideri Kanzaki's VA playing Seth) and Seth is not much different than the other Shonen protagonist. Regardless...It's still an interesting episode and then there's the fact that it's also about racism because the villagers have a stigma with other sorcerer and the series ends with a group of weird-fashioned old man and the children that accompany him. Mind screw isn't it :P
@Lyendith Since you're a fan of the original manga, I heard that it does delve into serious topics which I'm not a fan of but I'll see if this could handle it pretty well. Is this the reason why it's so different than any other shonen mangas out there? :3
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."
There's a bit of that. Like, the first major arc is themed around immigration, which is a topic that speaks more to a European audience than a Japanese one I think… As for the rest, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what makes it different, but there's something in the way the story's told that detaches it from other shonen as we go on. As Mashima Hiro said, it looks like a Japanese shonen but feels more bittersweet.
Even in this episode, there's the fact that Seth's motivation isn't about "becoming the best" or the Wizard King or some bullshit, but something more altruistic.

Episode 2 has yet again some tweaks from the manga. The episode starts out strangely slow (seriously, that dialogue at the beginning almost felt like it was in slow-mo), but was pretty good once it picked up. I find interesting that Don Bossman gives reasons for his actions that someone in Seth's position − and less virtuous than he is − could easily be receptive to. "Whether we save them or not, they hate our guts anyway, so why even bother?"
Also pretty funny that Alma was away because "some idiot mistook cows for Nemesis"… which is what Seth did at the start of the manga.
PS: I hope we don't have to watch that intro sequence every goddamn episode… I'd be fine with it if it was short, but it's almost as long an opening! Come on… If you add this, the actual opening and the previous episode summary… uuh, I get why they hired the narrator from One Piece now. >.>

Episode 2:
So Bravery Quatret turns out to be the bad people? Figures. Even though I kind of like Bossman speech at first. Still though, I think he has the point on why humans are ungrateful bastards and I still hate their guts even if Seth tries to save them from Nemesis. Though I wonder what will happen in the next episode.

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Episode 3! Centered on Alma this time, with an interesting flashback… with some stuff there that I'm pretty sure wasn't in the manga? Or if it was, it was revealed much later. Still, I quite liked the general melancholic mood.
However, this time I can't say I'm too fond of the changes they made… I don't mind too much that they skipped several gags with the captured Bravery Quartet, but I wish they didn't makes some scenes more cliché than they initially were. The way the kids bullied Seth for example, was more brutal and disturbing than it is here.
Also, remember how I was glad that Seth avoided the classic "I wanna be the greatest sorcerer" bullshit? Well, they felt the need to add that line for some reason, even though it has no place in the story…
So yeah, the additions regarding Alma were nice, but there are a lot of things that annoyed me in this ep. It's like they're trying to make the show either more kid-friendly or more Japanese-friendly, or both.
There are also some deviations that aren't bad per se but just baffle me, like Doc's introduction being entirely skipped or Alma not telling Seth about the Artemis Institute, which was supposed to be his first destination. Maybe it was for pacing's sake, I don't know.
Now the Inquisitons' introduction was pretty cool. Their voices fit them well.

Episode 3:
A flashback regarding Alma and Seth...Rather interesting but feel really bad at the same time. So that's why people horribly discriminated the Sorcerers... Because they contacted Nemesis' curse. But even then, it's not an excuse for them being a dick. Then again, you could argue that this is a social commentary about racism that happened. Also, we now saw the members of the Inquisitions and they look interesting. Oh and @Lyendith... I pretty much agree with you regarding the throwaway line on this episode regarding "I want to become the best X or Y ever" which is rather unecessary and probably the only con of the episode even if it's seem rather nitpicking.
I'm wondering if I should start the manga now. I'm crap at French so yeah...
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Ain't it?
It's all the more interesting that this a French comic being translated to a Japanese anime, something that I'm pretty sure was never done before. There's bound to be some adjustments for the new audience.
By the way, I fleshed out the trope page, and might create a character page sooner or later.
It'll all depend on how they adapt the first big arc. There are scenes in there I really don't want them to butcher.
…But damn, researching the voice actors for the character page, I realized just how many big names had signed for this. Except for the hero, weirdly enough.
Best of all, General Torque is voiced by fucking All Might.
Spoilery stuff but I wonder what are your favorite scenes that you don't want to see Lerche butcher.
P.S. Yeah, so many good V As that participate in this anime. Like the voices of DIO, Ragyo Kiryuin, Genma Saotome, Tsuyu Asui, Shirayukihime, Usopp and so on

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."I made a (beginning of a) character page.
I used either volume covers, manga panels or anime shots, but for some characters I couldn't find a good pic. Unless I take photos of my own volumes or something…
Episode 4: We're finally introduced to Doc and Mélie… in a very different way from the manga. Mélie's voice is adorable, but I feel like they made her a tad more stupid… Now it's interesting that they state that her personality switches happen under stress, since I'm pretty sure they happen completely randomly in the manga. Maybe the author added this detail to clarify things, I don't know.
It also seems like Alma did give intructions to Seth, so I don't know why they didn't show it in the previous episode. The meeting between Doc and Alma was pretty funny though.
The episode wasn't bad per se, but it felt a bit longer than needed, and I still have that unpleasant feeling that they're trying to make the show more kid-friendly.
Also, I secretly hoped that Dragunov would be voiced by Suwabe Jun'ichi… but Yusa Kouji isn't a bad fit. He nails the nonchalance of the character pretty well.

Alright...Another thread by me and this is about the upcoming anime called Radiant.
Nothing much is known about the manga. But some sources said it was made in French and it's the first one to get a publication in Japan thanks to Murata Yusuke. And according to TV Tropes, here's the series sounds like:
"In a World... where people live on sky islands above the clouds, strange monsters called Nemesis occasionally fall from the sky and wreak havoc in towns. The only people able to inflict damage to them are the Infected, humans who miraculously survived the normally lethal contact with a Nemesis and gained the power to manipulate Fantasia, at the price of some physical defect. While people call them for help when a Nemesis pops up, the Infected are nevertheless considered abominations and feared by the common folk.
The horned orphan Seth is one of them, and lives away from humans with his teacher/adoptive mother Alma. While he absolutely wants to fight Nemesis, his impulsiveness often stirs up more trouble than he would like, which doesn't help his or Alma's case. But soon he realises that fighting off the monsters that appear here and there is pointless if you don't go for the source: an entity called the Radiant, that no one has ever found, and may or may not actually exist. Joined by the bumbling Researching Sorcerer Doc and the severely bipolar Trapper Witch Mélie, Seth's first step in his journey will be to join a giant flying city, the Artemis Institute, home of many professional sorcerers. And to avoid getting too much on the Inquisitors' bad side, preferably."
This anime should be intriguing I guess even though the story isn't the most original. One question: Are you hyped with this manga getting an anime?
