I stumbled upon this trope The Wandering You and I am not really sure what this is supposed to be about. Is it about games having large expansive areas that you have to wander being the point of the game? Or is it about games having long areas for a \"natural\" method of you fighting things, using resources, experiencing the intended game mechanics?

The examples seem kind of split with some talking about how games have big areas, and others talking about how the big areas are inconvenient.

According to the trope definition, The Wandering You is about a specific type of Fake Longevity where the player is forced to walk for long stretches between interest points just so there will be more Random Encounters.

It's not about when there's just lots of walking. It also doesn't seem to include games that don't have Random Encounters.

Hmm okay, that seems to match what I first read it as. I might go through and get rid of some examples, perhaps even add some more.
