"I'd be down, hey, Byron if you can't think of anything, come with us why don't ya?" Jo called out as he strolled up to Mara and Mellie. "You too, uh... Mel, was it? Groups are always better at wing joints anyway." He said with a broad grin, trying to appear as friendly as he could. "Hell, it'd be cool if we all went so we could get to know each other better. It's a competition but no reason not to be friendly and chill about it, eh?"
"I am nature's weapon. You are unfit to carry on your species, and I shall ensure that you do not do so!" - Charles Darwin, XCOM SniperBy this point most of the eliminated contestants had exited the locker room. Chione had regained her composure, but still left rather quickly. Bill had scurried off after looking through his deck some more. Dan had stomped out almost immediately after the announcements finished, while Sasha left a few minutes afterwards, taking the time to wave goodbye to Yuria on her way out. Jerome also wandered out, looking slightly worried, Amanda quietly taking her leave soon after.
The only ones still in the room were Deckard, who was doing some manual adjustments to his duel coat near the exit, and Sam, who was just sitting on one of the benches, a dum dum lollipop in her mouth.

Wait what? With the tournament now over for the day, it can only mean that Anna now has to make a phone call reporting to her supervisor. She sighed while frowning at her phone. She dreaded that phone call.
At that moment, however, one of the contestants drew her attention. It was that girl, who if Anna could recall correctly, used a deck of Mermails and Atlanteans. Maybe it was because Anna never really observed her that closely, but... she seemed bluer than Anna remembered. And she didn't just mean her general personality.
"Um... hi Yuria." Anna groaned internally. She's not so good with minors. And the kid's bodyguards certainly didn't help. Maybe she had one of those overprotective monster moms. "Can I help you?"
"Why does everything have to loop back to YGO?" -Guy who ruined YGOYuria said, "I just... uh... I wanted to say how amazing you were. Winning the game on your first combat turn! That was nothing I have seen before. No offense or anything, but I never thought Gusto could do something like that."

Continue writing our story of peace.Scotty
Scott walked over and spoke up, "...yeah, I think getting to know you guys might be actually kind of fun." He was as confident and testosterone fueled as usual - walking with his arms wide and a cool smirk on his face. He was thinking about what he saw from Millie and Mara - he wasn't so dumb as not to notice that kind of thing.
Of course with the kind of man Scotty was, his mind was not exactly in a pure place, ...is Mellie into her? Ooh! Lesbians - hotness!
"And if anyone wants to swing by my room at the hotel, I'll be having a rockin' party tonight - TV, video games, music, girls, the works."
To be honest, Mellie was a little bit peeved that it wouldn't just be her and Mara getting lunch together. Although, she supposed that would have been a little unrealistic, when both her and Mara had asked the room at large about getting lunch. Besides, the two guys who had decided to come with, Byron and... Jo (maybe?), seemed pretty cool. "Yeah, that sounds nice. The more the merrier, ahaha."
Of course, then Scotty decided to tag along. Mellie's smile noticeably dropped, and she tried to pretend he hadn't said anything. The... look he was giving her made it rather difficult, though. Kinda creepy. She ignored him as best as she could while turning her attention to Jo. "I go by Mellie, usually. Jo, right? Just wanna make sure I get everyone's names right, y'know."
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor HebertOh. Looks like I have a fan. It was true that Gustos do not exactly hit fast and hard. In fact, Anna's favorite thing about her deck was the fact that she could just sit back and defend until she could burst the opponent down. It just so happened that in this case, it happened extremely early. As far as Anna was concerned, she just got extremely lucky.
"Oh, thank you. You weren't too bad either with your Mermail Atlanteans." Which was pretty much the exact opposite of the kind of deck Anna piloted. Anna saw Yuria's duel, or at least part of it. Extremely aggressive, Yuria swept her opponent away with the force of a raging tide. "I certainly wouldn't want to go up against that."
"Why does everything have to loop back to YGO?" -Guy who ruined YGOYuria smiled when she heard Anna's praise. "Oh, you overestimate me. I've never been in a local tournament, much less a regional one. Oh, you have a phone call? Sorry for intruding. I'll be on my way."
Continue writing our story of peace.Yuria wondered about the "no kids allowed" part, but she shrugged it off. "I have my own ride, so no worry."
Continue writing our story of peace."Sure. Good luck in the next round." Anna said as Yuria walked away. She looked at the phone in her hand and sighed before tucking it back into her pocket. She can just make that report later.
"Why does everything have to loop back to YGO?" -Guy who ruined YGOWilliam watched passively as everyone began to make their plans. Lunch could be nice, not to mention he wanted to rub shoulders with people who would likely go on to do well in the Pro Circuit, even if they fell short in the tournament. Mind you, he felt bad for Mara and Mellie; the two (2) girls were now out of their alone time. While he wasn't the one (1) to cause it, William still felt a little guilty about the whole thing.
"I... uhh... If ya wouldn' min' havin' me, I'd be happy ta tag along."
"Evii is right though" -Saturn "I didn't know you were a bitch Evii." -Lior ValLater that day...
Everyone eventually made their way to the wings place, one way or another. The restaurant, "Jimmy's Wings", was a simple local place, but it was clean and the food was great. All the round 1 winners had just received their meals and were sitting around talking.

Wait what?Yuria gnawed on the chicken bones while listening to the adults - and Scott- talking. Knightley and Rooke were not in the restaurant, but she was sure they were nearby, probably grabbing something for lunch as well.
"So... uh... have you guys thought about the tournament's duelist selection? Designing a card is no small deal. I'd expect the Amrint Group to invite someone like the World Champions, and no offense, I have watched the last 8 WCS, and I don't think any of you is a World Champion."

Continue writing our story of peace."Eh, world champion or not, I'm not passing up an opportunity to make a card from the very top of my head." He shrugged as he took a sip of his drink. "Besides, I'm running pure Weather Painter, I don't think I'm destined for regionals, let alone World Champion." He paused. "Shit probably not even the weekly tournament at my game shop now that i think about it. But, hey, someone like me's gotta start somewhere!"
Scotty - A Man's Meal
Scotty was eating his way through a number of spicy chipotle wings, and breathed harshly as he ate - the spices were pretty tough, but he was a tough guy. "Honestly, I don't think about stuff like that. What's good for what in this game. I tackle it like football - everything on the field is just a guy between you and your goal, and you gotta get past or it'll cost you."
He guzzled down some Doctor Pepper, and smirked, "My Ninjas have a lot they can go for right now. Maybe they could go for something spicy, but I love how this is looking."
Winging It
William grabbed a moist towelette as he finished the last of his honey garlic wings. Having only bought a small amount to help with his budget, he found the current conversation a touch unpleasant. He was no hotshot duelist, that much was certain, but there was no need to really get into that, was there?
"I'm mostly here ta put on a good show, ya know?" William said, once he had finished cleaning his face up. "I figure Duelin' should be about, ya know, flash an' show more than who wins. Ya gotta respect tha audien—"
The strange noise stopped William. "What in Sam's hill was tha'?"
"Evii is right though" -Saturn "I didn't know you were a bitch Evii." -Lior ValYuria said, "you forgot to adjust your phone's volume, Anna?" She rubbed her ears.
Continue writing our story of peace.Mellie was methodically working her way through a fairly large basket of teriyaki wings, with surprising gusto for someone so small. She was more concentrated on her food than anything else, so it took her a second to give her two bits to the conversation. She swallowed a mouthful of wing and said, "Uh, I was in the top 8 at my university's Duelist Club - that's how I got the invite - but it's not like I was a renowned duelist or anything. Outside of the club, that is, heh."
Mellie went back to eating in peace for a few seconds before something on Anna's person went off right next to her. She actually fumbled the wing she was eating out of surprise, but quickly retrieved it. "Sounds, uh, pretty urgent. Everything alright?"
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor HebertAnna's plate of chicken wings were about half finished. They were boneless of course, because there was no way she had the initiative to pick the bones out herself, but even then she was still a pretty slow eater.
"Well, I'm not really here because of my skills," Anna said while picking at her food, answering Yuria's question. "It's more like I'm here because of-"
Suddenly, the scanner went off again, which was weird since a restaurant probably wasn't the best place for a duel. Now that everyone was looking at her, Anna felt strangely self-conscious. She took out her scanner from her pocket and took a peek under the table, and her eyes widened.
"Um... I gotta go." She said as she tucked the scanner back into her pocket and awkwardly got up from the table.
"Why does everything have to loop back to YGO?" -Guy who ruined YGOMara tagged in at Anna's seat with her own plate of super intense garlicky wings. "How much you bet they brought in a bunch of amateurs and children because we're the only people they feel confident giving the reins on new cards? Like, I'm just another goon who took locals with a janky deck so I'm not gonna have too many card ideas if I get that chance."
Mara bit into one, thought a bit and swallowed. "Anna'll be fine, I bet they also recruited folks they knew'd be, like, responsible, even if they weren't all adults." She popped a few more wings in her mouth. "Speaking of responsibility. What do y'all do by the way? Like for a living."

When Mellie realized Mara was talking to her, the ginger's head whipped around immediately, only for her face to begin flushing pink. She eloquently responded with "Wh- um?" as she scrambled for something to say. Oh god she's talking directly to me what do I say?? Wait, she asked about my deck, that's something! "Uhh, no, they're not r-really that competitive. Honestly, uh, that OTK was mostly luck on my part, ahaha." Mellie rubbed at the back of her neck with one hand and smiled awkwardly.
"Uh, you were pretty h- cool out there too." Shit fuck shit balls shit shit shit- Mellie's blush deepened slightly. "Th-that lock you got on the field was really impressive. Um. ...Wanna go get those wings?"
God, if I land a date because of a Duel Monsters tournament, I'll keep playing this game until the day I die.
