Patch reminding us that his channel is supposed to be about manga and anime.
Well, it's more "Current State of Jump in 2019" since he barely touches on the last couple of months. A couple remarks:
- As others pointed out, I find it weird that he's "baffled" by Act-age success when he's made an entire video on "non-battle battle shonen". AA's current arc at least fits right into that with its double casting shtick.
- Summing up Yozakura Family as "Dollar Store Spy×Family" is doing it a disservice. Even if S×F is indeed stronger in its art and writing, they're just not the same type of series.
- When mentioning that One Piece volumes still sold much more than KNY's despite the latter technically outselling it, he apparently missed the latest few weeks' numbers where KNY did outsell OP in individual volumes.
- Also, I'm pretty sure Hinomaru Zumou wasn't cancelled. It just finished its run.
…
Also, ContraPoints is an SEW fan apparently? >.> Unless it's just a namesake.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. This video got me to read Chainsaw Man. I was actually familiar with the author's previous work Fire Punch and you can definitely tell it's the same guy because it has that same thing where you can't tell if the hilarious Black Comedy is intentional or not. It's weird.
Also I only just now found out both these series have been serialized in shounen magazines and that's genuinely strange to me given how explicitly sexual Chainsaw Man is at points. It feels like it belongs more in Weekly Young Jump instead.

It's color page this week had one of the current arc's antagonists in an orgy with her four girlfriends as she scissors one of them.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."He released a new video today. Must his response to Shenmue I Ii killed me cause it lead me to watch Dunkeys and its hilarious.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I had no idea Shenmue III was already out…
And of course his favorite character in Granblue Fantasy Versus is the wrestler.
As for Star Wars IX, I wonder if that film will be reevaluated a few years from now. My initial response to it was "eeh, 'twas pretty good", but then I went to bed, woke up, and thought "eeh, maybe not." Patch's bait-and-switch had me die laughing, but it made me a little sad at the same time.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Whether IX will be vindicated by history is determined by the reception to future Star Wars movies. Cause unlike what happened after the PT we are not getting a decade long break this time, we will be getting another movie in a couple years.
And if these new movies actually are genuinely well-received than IX's negative reputation will remain as it will basically becomes the fandoms punching bag.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Of course. Ladiva is a proud woman who loves to show off her moves in the ring.
Though hes settled for resident ghost girl and her ghost pets as his preferred character to play as.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. The Bizarre Modern Reality of Sonic the Hedgehog:
AKA SEW's fanfiction of his friend Jake AKA SEW's giving up on his parents ever looking at him with pride.
F*cking hell him talking about Final Fantasy Sonic hit me real hard, I used to play that shit on Fliperama when I was a kid and I was reminiscing on it just the other day, any B Rs remember that site?
Now I want to check out these fan creations from the Golden Age, there was way more than I remember.

I caught this video a little earlier (up until he gets to Sonic NSFW topic then I stopped, so I never finished it).
I think he's got a point about the absolute viciousness of the Internet. When something is bad, it's bad forever, because the internet will never stop tearing it apart.
Often, I feel like this goes well past the point of being justified. Even if the thing was legitimately bad, it feels like that's being used as an excuse to continue to beat someone or something down.
Sonic kinda went through that (and still is). The thing is, this takes its toll on the creators: they get scared because if they fail, they'll become a punchline; they get bitter because they are hounded by assholes endlessly for that failure (and it's worse if they have more). They get cynical, because they feel like no matter what they do, someone will give them shit, and everyone will join the bandwagon
I can't help but feel that this, alongside their very legitimate mistakes has resulted in Sega's current actions (to say nothing of the Pended-pocalypse) with regards to Sonic.
I'm not saying we shouldn't say things are bad: I'm saying we need to do it in the right way, otherwise we cause just as much damage as the creators.
One Strip! One Strip!I want to point out something that I (and a lot of people) have noticed that he didn't bring up, and yet, is something I'm kinda happy he didn't
And that was Sonichu
I think it's because A) Any discussion of Sonichu inevitably leads back to discussing it's creator more than discussing Sonichu itself and it's place within the Sonic fanbase B) He already talked about Tails gets Trolled and he'd basically be discussing the same points in a more negative light (and which would also necessitate talking more about CWC than Sonichu and Sonic fandom wrt large) and C) Discussion of Sonichu tends to bring the worst kinds of internet fucks and CWC has faced enough harassment and stalking over the years and at this point, it's just better to leave the poor girl alone.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceA lesson Star Wars and DC fans should take to heart. Especially the part about constantly raving about things you hate for the sake of it. For as much as fans like to rant about how there is so little positivity in the world anymore they are shockingly unaware of how much of that can be their fault.
I remember how the page for Sonichu looked when I first joined years ago. It was not pretty to CWC or her family. It's cleaned up obviously, but cases like that make me really glad SEW steered away from the subject.
I feel he probably avoided mentioning Sonichu for all those reasons, and also that despite the subject the video is ultimately supposed to be optimistic highlighting the creativity and passion Sonic's fans still have for him.

If you do want to know how that sordid tale goes, Down the Rabbit Hole did an episode on her.
"It's a tragedy where everyone is horrible", one of the comments say, and that's a pretty accurate description.

She doesn't even rank on the top 10 of shitty Internet personalities anymore.
It's been 3000 years…x 3
Yeah. Despite Sonichu being undeniably an aspect of Sonic's online legacy (Even the official Sonic twitter has made references to Sonichu) the Sonichu story is overal just a negativity bomb of assholes on all sides, and SEW definitely wouldn't want a tale like that polluting his video of what's ultimately a positivity message about the Sonic Fanbase
I'm having to learn to pay the priceAnd yet here we all are, talking about it instead of sharing cool Sonic-related stuff we stumbled upon as would be more in-line with the intent of the video.
Anyway, SFW version incoming.

Speaking of which, I had no idea Tails got Trolled was a thing until this video. It does sound legitimately quite bad in a hilariously edgy way judging from the story tidbits I saw on the trope page, but I assume there must be something to it if people were getting legitimately invested despite that.
Sonic Dreams Collection seems like a long descent into the mind of a perverted serial killer. I haven't played it myself, but if I did I don't know if I could ever return to a normal life.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. As someone who watched Let’s Plays of this cursed game, yes.
It's been 3000 years…It’s very cursed. There were parts of it that I’ve seen enough DeviantArt to be some degree of desensitized to (without trying to be!), but it’s still seriously fucked up.

Tails Gets Trolled is a legit masterpiece. Just absolutely nutty and full of endlessly quotable phrases and iconic scenes.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceJust saw the Sonic video and just after I started comparing to the fandom I'm in(the Spyro fandom) and just felt sad, we are under Activision so fan creations will never be celebrated like that, our movie was cancelled, the best we now get are remakes of the original trilogy. Our fandom is barely active and the IP feel completely neglected, what do we had before Reignited, a new IP disguised as a Spyro reboot where Spyro no longer mattered.
last time Spyro was relevant was with The Legend of Spyro trilogy, which was 12-15 years ago

The martial arts have varying appeals to a lot of different people. Physical fitness, the joy of competition, the desire to teach, the desire to preserve traditions, etc. And there’s nothing wrong with these as long as they’re presented in context.
In the cases of a lot of these fake martial arts, it’s an empowerment fantasy. It’s not limited to these people either, anyone who’s ever hit pads suddenly feels a lot stronger than before because it gives them a sense of power, but in cases like this it’s a fantasy that they feel excludes other, because it’s a secret only they know, and as such they don’t need to fear anyone else as a result. Most responsible martial arts instructors will place these skills in the context of reality, but these people go one step beyond to exclude even the rules of reality.
