Yeah, Vault Boy ain't getting in; Steve and that lady from Granblue probably aren't getting in either.
Ken? ... Ken might get in.
You know what the biggest piece of evidence against that Prima leak is for me? Black Knight as a clone of Ike. That just... doesn't seem like it would work at all. The base designs are too different from each other.
This song needs more love. Was gonna say this Katalina character just looks like another kind of boring anime fighter from something that isn't all that popular or relevant to Nintendo, but than I remembered how stupidly popular Granblue is in Japan.
Yeah. It's not that out of the question, especially with Cloud getting in, and we've had a nice stream of cartoonier characters revealed recently, at least two of which are at least partially western pandering, so I could see them break that up with some good ol' mainstream anime that mostly Japanese fans would care about.

@Fallout: Well to be fair Fallout actually does sell moderately well in Japan IIRC, though they definitely changed the name of the Fat Man for obvious reasons.
Fallout does talk about nuclear weapons and radiation, which is a touchy subject for the Japanese. Having said that I don't think it'd be outright offensive. The Japanese do have works like Godzilla which is pretty comparable to much of what you see in Fallout. And there's even a Nintendo game (Prime 3) where you detonate a nuclear weapon (albeit in a non-military context).
Not that I think it's particularly likely, however.

"Any campaign world where an orc samurai can leap off a landcruiser to fight a herd of Bulbasaurs will always have my vote of confidence"Okay, the Prima leak is super fake and not worth talking about. "I have proof. In Canada. You can't see it." should be a giant red flag, people
The Ken screenshot might be legit or it might be an edited Ryuu. It doesn't matter because Ken's probably in the game anyway
Steve? strikes me as a bit unlikely, since the character isn't especially popular or recognizable (and Ultimate is prizing what fans want over what the devs think might be a fun character). If there's Minecraft content I'd expect a stage or assist trophy
On Katalina, I can believe that Nintendo is in talks with Cygames, but I really doubt they're after yet another anime swordsman
So, I hear Minecon is in about a week. If there really is any Minecraft content in Smash, we'll probably hear about it there. Either both of these current rumors will get busted, or...
...
Is it sad that I actually want the box theory to hold up now? I know it's petty to want a character to not be playable, but for some reason I really can't help it this time.
I'm right there with you. Let's be super petty together.

Not much of a Fallout fan, but Vault Boy looks fun enough that I could get behind. Steve even more so since I happen to be a semi-big fan of Minecraft (and happen to be named Steve). I could see a lot of moveset potential out of either of them. Katalina? Well, I've never heard of her or her series until just now and I don't think Ultimate is really going for obscure characters this time around.
Do I see any of them making it in though? Not a chance.
Ken is almost certain though, so who even cares if that pic is real?
Alright, let's play a game.
This game involves the Squad Strike mode, and it goes like this:
Post two teams, five characters each, with a running theme behind them.
For instance...
Muscle vs. Magic
Muscle: Ryu, Little Mac, Captain Falcon, Snake, King Dedede
Magic: Ness, Robin, Mewtwo, Lucas, Rosalina & Luma
Old School vs New School
Old School: Mario, Mega Man, Simon, Pac-Man, Mr.Game and Watch
New School: Shulk, Olimar, Inklings, Villager, Isabelle
And in a slight variant...
80's vs 90's
80's: Mario, Mega Man, Simon, Pac-Man, Mr.Game and Watch
90's: Sonic, Captain Falcon, Ness, Pikachu, Marth

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundRed vs. Blue
Red: Mario, Pokemon Trainer (Bonus points for being named Red), Villager, Simon, Shulk
Blue: Sonic, Meta Knight, Lucario, Mega Man, Richter
I'm going to go more with making single teams with one theme, rather than two teams with a shared/contrasting theme.
Combo Characters: Pokemon Trainer, Olimar, Ice Climbers, Rosalina, and Duck Hunt
Gods/Holy people: Pit, Palutena, Rosalina, Zelda, Simon
Heroes vs. Villains
Heroes: Mario, DK, Link, Samus, Fox
Villains: Bowser, King K. Rool, Ganondorf, Ridley, Wolf
Echoes: Dark Samus, Lucina, Chrom, Dark Pit, Richter
Icons: Mario, Sonic, Pac-Man, Mega Man, Ryu
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundAssists: Little Mac, Dark Samus, Isabelle, Charizard, Ridley (he was kind of an assist)
Old Guard VS New Guard
Ice Climbers, Mario, Young Link, Pikachu, and Sonic
VS
Pit, Inkling, Link, Greninja, and Bayonetta
It's been 3000 years…Artificially created: Mewtwo, R.O.B, Mega Man, Meta Ridley... maybe Mii Fighter, on a sort of meta level? Mr. Game and Watch? Maybe Dark Samus. Shadow would fit here.

Pit doesn't really fit as one of the 'new guard'. Seeing as he debuted the same year as Megaman.
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundI was mostly doing it from the Kid Icarus: Uprising angle of things.
It's been 3000 years…That still doesn't change when he debuted.
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundLink is also there, so I think Weirdguy is going off of the specific version of that character in Ultimate.
Link I'll give him because it's technically a different one from the original. But Pit doesn't have that excuse.
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundMaybe Pit could take the Ice Climbers' spot while Dark Pit replaces Pit. That could work.
It's been 3000 years…
To clarify, there are two leaks going around with Steve, right? The leak with Katalina and the leak associated with Prima are two different rumors, from what it looks like, but both happen to have Steve.
The Prima leak is the one mentioned in the video, and I think it is total bunk. Setting Vault Boy aside, "Wii Remote Safety Guy" is the memeiest of Smash memes. Might as well have said the AT was Reggie or Nonspecific Action Figure, for all it would change.
This one◊ is our Katalina leaker (although Katalina is just a maybe)◊. From my understanding, they said a lot of correct things about Samurai Spirits, so they certainly do have some amount of insider information. After Loz, though, I feel the need to be a bit less trusting even of people who have gotten things right in the past.
I don't think like Vergeben's backing actually means too much here. His reaction just seems like a really roundabout "I mean, maybe he's the real thing?" sort of PR-ish response that Vergeben loves to give, and that's probably because this leak is mostly Vergeben stuff to begin with, with the rest being stuff that would be hard to know is untrue (in order to say someone is not on the roster, you would first need to know the entire roster, which is information most leakers wouldn't be able to access). I mean, Vergeben thought Loz was legit enough to privately discuss leaks with him, so...
Still, the Samurai Spirits thing does give Senjougahara some weight. I would say that the odds of this leak coming to fruition are depressingly realistic.
