I'm surprised that Geigue doesn't have a spirit in Smash. He easily has a counterpart to use as his vessel in Mewtwo.

Also weird how every Mother song is a remix. Less weird, more illegal actually, is that Pokey Means Business is not in after 4 games. Or that Pokey was cut from being a boss.

There's no Giegue spirit because there's no official artwork for Giegue

And Rayquza is also removed as a boss. It and Porky are still spirits (yes that one counts for Porky)

He still has a sprite, and fair deal of the Earthbound Spirits use sprites to represent the characters.

Also, they used FAN ART for the Masked Man. I don't think Giegue not having official art is a problem.

All the Subspace Emissary bosses were removed except for Galleom.

Petey Piranha is Piranha Plant's Final Smash and Ridley is now playable.

Also, Duon is made of Game and Watches, so very technically, he's playable too.

The sprite for the Masked Psychic isn't the one from the actual game.

All it means is that 2 pixels are off from the real one.

Someone uploaded a sprite edit of the Masked Man from Mother 3 to Deviant Art and that's the sprite used in Smash for his spirit. There was a brief stink about it when they found out.

I just don't get why if they were going to represent Pokey with a spirit, they choose the Capsule. Not his clay render, not his normal Sprite, mech sprite or aged sprite. But the thing that is a reference to him all of 2 minutes in game. That's like representing an unplayable Samus as a spirit but using her Fusion appearance instead of the much more common suits/designs from the series. Yes, she uses that suit, but it's for one game and not her most well-known look.

After Brawl I think it's a matter of trying not to spoil Mother 3.

But then New Pork City is right there so who knows.

It feels more like a fun nod to Pokey as is. ...Or it would be if they chose the right sprite. That's the empty Absolute Safety Capsule. They probably didn't know the difference, but who knows. Worth noting though that they used the Telephone to represent Ness' Dad, so it's still done with "fun" in mind.

Some of the Spirits are just silly. Plus, characters can get more than one Spirit, so you could easily add a new Spirit Event and a few more Mother Spirits. Pokey specifically(instead of a small reference to him... probably a reference), and some enemies unused, maybe. I don't remember all the Mother spirits, but there's bound to be something you could pull from.

I can see him being added in a purple Spirit event like Locus or, as a commemoration of a Brawl anniversary, he'd be added to a Subspace boss spirit event.

Pretty sure they can just Mother's 3 for Giygas anyways.

Giygas isn't in Mother 3 in any capacity.

Does anybody feel some of the spirits are mistakenly labeled?

Like Purple Pikmin are Shield type and Rock Pikmin are Grab type when it make more sense swapped. 1 Purple has the lifting power of 10 Pikmin and Rocks aren't as easily destroyed.
