Spun-off from the recent CW Riverdale series and an allegedly darker take on Sabrina than most TV-viewers are probably used to, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a new series about a young half-witch who must master her newfound magical abilities in order to battle the evil forces that soon surround her.

Presumably this takes a lot of inspiration from the comic of the same name.

The cast and crew from the original gave their take on the new show.

So CW will have this and the Charmed reboot for witchy shenanigans? I thought this would be Netflix exclusive.

[up][up] It is still a Netflix original. The topic originated when the show was first announced.

I'll watch it if it ends with Salem taking over the world after all...

I am beyond sold on this show already. Even if the comics weren't great (which they are), its going to have Michelle Gomez as Madam Satan, Lucy Davis as Aunt Hilda.

And while Salem probably won't take over the world, he will appear, so that's something.

The show's already been ordered for 2 seasons, as well.

While I didn't enjoy Riverdale season two as much as season one I still liked it. Combine that with the promotional pictures for this and I'm happy to watch.

Kieran Shipka talks about being allergic to cats and we get some info on this version of Salem.

Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka chatted with Vulture about how nice it is to be acting alongside people her own age, given her biggest previous job was playing Don Draper’s daughter on Mad Men. However, she did add that there is a bit of drama behind the scenes. During the first month on set, Shipka broke out in hives after picking up one of the five cats that play Salem. This is how the actress found out she’s allergic to cats.

“The cat is the one cast member I don’t get along with,” Shipka said.

In the 1990s TV show Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Salem stuck to Sabrina like syrup on pancakes. In that version, he was a warlock dictator who tried to take over the world, but became a lot cuddlier thanks to his 100-year sentence as a cat. In Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, he’s a teenager who was turned into a familiar after impregnating a witch and refusing to marry her—but it’s okay, the Devil said if he does a good job protecting Sabrina, he can become human again. So, think less “fluffy friend” and more “voice of reason under the guidance of Satan.”

Not a big surprise. Most animals in movies have multiple 'understudies' for various reasons. Animals are fickle.

Cats especially.

In the movie Homeward Bound, they used no less than eight cats for the role of Sassy.

First trailer

I swear Betty singing Jughead "Happy Birthday" was actually more creepy than the one sang in this trailer.

Yeah, this is only second place to that. A close second.

Looks pretty good so far, I'm with it.

It has Sally Draper/Jinora from Legend of Korra and Missy from Dr. Who in it, I'd check it out for two alone. The rest is just bonuses.

I think it looks fun.

And CW shows tend to have strong first seasons, so I'll definitely be watching thisnote

[up]Just checked the wiki page.

Very nice.

It should overlap with Daredevil S3 as well, so that'll be two shows I can knock out at once.

It's much easier that way, rather than needing to watch stuff weekly to keep up with forum threads.

Such a dark trailer. Are we sure Sabrina isn't part of the DC Universe?

I like it. I'm curious what the context of that party is or if it's all just for flair.

I love the comic but I'll pass over the show. I'm still interested in how this'll effect Sabrina in the future, though. Adaptations have a lot of sway power.

It's nice to see Sabrina with her bob in an adaptation. It's messier than I'd prefer but still...

Never got around to watching Riverdale and I'm not sure I'll be keen about this one. Just wanted to post that considering the lead actress is allergic to cats, what if they make that a plot point in the series?

[up][up][up] well a 16th birthday party is always a special occasion where girls are concerned but in the comics the context is that Sabrina has to choose between her two worlds upon turning 16.

So how does this fit into Riverdale's world? That's my main concern. [lol]

It's a spinoff so it's definitely part of the Riverdale universe. Don't know yet how they're related though.

It's not a spin-off, though. Nobody in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was introduced in Riverdale.
