I also like that the D Cs when camping are static and shown to the player.
Kingmaker, especially in the early game constantly had you getting ambushed. Here im like 60 hours in and it's not happened once.
But yeah game is super big improvement over kingmaker overall. Like game feels more reactive compared to kingmaker and there are lot more branching paths.
Like all mythic paths have at least two paths to themselves. Companion quests tend to have branching as they did in kingmaker with some having three branches. And on top of that from what I understood, even romances have branching apparently :'D
(like for example, angel has you focusing on either retribution or mercy, demon is about whether you control your rage or not, Lich is apparently whether you want to be more like Geb where living co exist with undead as slaves or Whispering Way which aims to kill all mortals and raise them as undead :'D )

^^Galfrey, Arueshalae, Irabeth, Anevia, Sosiel, Aron Kir, Aravashnial, Horgus Gwerm and Nurah are from AP. Honestly it is probably either coincidence or fantasy name osmosis, there are only limited ways you can make up new names ;P
(other example names from ap Hepzamirah, Jerribeth, Minagho, Staunton Vhane, Khorramzadeh ;P Lot of minor bosses who don't get line of dialog like Maugla were from AP as well)
(as you can tell, majority of companions aren't from the ap xD Meaning two of them are :p)

So yeah, I'm getting close to Mythic rank three where I gather you'll get to pick your initial path. Anyone here have played the Trickster path? Is it fun? I care less about mechanics and more about how the story plays out, not that I want spoilers. (Avoiding reading the thread in general, in fact, since there seem to be a lot of unmarked spoilers. It's fine, but if you're answering to me, best tag me so I won't miss it.)
My initial plan was to go trickster, but since then I've heard a lot of hype about the Azata storyline and those three people who start you on that path really sold me on the philosophy of trying something different and just doing good, so might swap to that. Compared to this, I basically know nothing about the trickster path and the game isn't really selling it, haven't interacted with it almost at all.

Trickster is fun, but very silly. I had the opposite trajectory of you, I was initially pretty sure I was going to go Azata (or whatever the most Chaotic Good, freedom-oriented path was, at the time I didn't know), but Trickster proved too tempting and felt more thematically appropriate for my Commander. I don't regret it. But you'll get the most out of it if your character is willing to throw a wrench in things just to see what happens, just for the hell of it. If you want to feel assured that you're doing some good, I imagine Azata is probably better, but I haven't tried it yet.
But outside of the Path quests, there've been some Trickster-specific options I've really quite liked having, ways of pranking people, outbluffing demons and cultists instead of fighting. The powers and skill boosts work very well for my skill monkey diplomancer arcanist.

And yet is there a truer crusader against the demons? I ask you.
Should give you a bonus to crits against Large enemies. Rip and tear.
Good job on the weather effects. That is some nerve-wracking thunder. Really making me want to go into this cave I know is probably full of demons just to get out from under all the pouring blood and evil-looking lightning that's striking mere inches away.

One thing I wish they'd improved from Kingmaker, as I go around all the reagent sites before finishing chapter 3, is to tone down the random encounter. The map already is designed to make travel as long and tedious as possible, but the constant random encounters are just a drag. And it's not like they are challenging. My party of level 14 characters just got jumped by 1 level 13 wizard and 3 level 9 tiefling fighters. Like, they werent even a threat. They didn't have any loot. It's just there to tag an extra few hours to the game by forcing you to stop all the time.
@Drupple: Forgot to mention them because Lann was minor npc whose role was "lead party to Sull" and Wenduag was minor boss at Hosilla's place x'D
But yeah trying to list all characters from AP would be bit hard and some of them have vastly different role(like Lann and Wenduag who weren't party npcs)

At least this game punishes resting differently.
Like you know how kingmaker had timed quests? Yes that was in order to limit amount of resting x'D They replaced it with abyssal corruption and now only no point of returns can end quests in middle of them.
But yeah, I'm annoyed how some optionally hard encounters are easy to stumble onto or require REALLY specific tactics to over come. That said the game DOES have multiple spells capable of cheesing foes(lot of enemies are screwed over if they get blinded for example) but still :'D
