Speaking of important names... the Men of Tears? As in... The King of Tears? As in Johnny Sorrow?

Haha, they mentioned Gentleman Ghost.

I guess the Shade had to prove why he's still a baddie.

[up]It was shocking, but it made sense and I'm kinda glad they did it. I was a second away from questioning the idea of Shade as a villain at all.

The Shade continues the same way he has all season. Doing what could be conceived as "good" in an incredibly selfish and underhanded way, with an almost obsessive inability to work positively with anyone else.

We know enough about him by now to know that he genuinely does seem want the threat of Eclipso stopped, but he clearly cares about himself more and is fully willing to throw others under the bus in order to accomplish what he's out to do the way he intends to do it.

The last episode also makes me suspicious that the Shade and Eclipso share the same or similar power sources, which could be why he's being so weird about Eclipso only being defeated in a way he says he should. Maybe he stands to lose something if Eclipso is defeated any other way.

Another DC Fandome clip, this time featuring a sneak peek at this October 19's episode. Basically, Courtney find herself in a black and white purgatory version of Blue Valley.

We already kind of had that as the preview clip from earlier in the week.

Edit: It's a longer clip but nothing we didn't already see coming.

Oh dangit! I liked the Shade. Now he's dead. Should have seen it coming when McNider brought up that drinking session and Shade brought up he's seen Dorian Grey seven times.

I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to just be dissipated, and thus comes back eventually.

By now, it should be clear to all except the most dense of us that sheep are secretly conspiring to kill us all and steal our pants.

I honestly didn't quite get the moral here. As soon as you admit that you hate somebody, you succeed?

I don't think there is one. You could maybe go with "nobody's perfect and you have to accept your own flaws" but that doesn't really work either since we didn't really call out her flaws and have her accept them.

I think there was supposed to be a thing on greyer morality with how Cindy did bad things and still does bad things like how she killed her original mother and kind of regrets it, or how the Shade is not a hero but he isn't as bad as Eclipso or the ISA.

There may have also been a thing on despair and hope as the Shadowlands is a domain made from negative feelings and staying there is supposed to bring out people's worst tendencies. I.e. Cindy fared well for a while until Eclipso brought in the mother she killed before she was trapped in fear. Dr. Midnight was in there for years and had to keep his goggles on to not go mad from the constant reminders of his dead daughter. And Eclipso was even able to get Courtney to admit she hates Eclipso and wants to eliminate him which fed into Eclipso bringing out the worst from them.

Though I think we all know there is a major difference between a morally grey character and a nuanced character.

To quote something I've seen said on this site, the first rule of maturity is accepting that some things aren't always black and white. The second rule, is knowing when things are.

[up]That's a good quote.

So far one of the things I liked about Cindy was the show portrayed exactly how she got the way she is without excusing the fact she's terrible now. So I hope that continues

Okay so tentatively Yolanda is back, Jakeem Thunder will be ready, and Cindy is going to "help" the junior JSA. Also likely that Eclipso's plan is to posses Courtney because of her status as a Hope Bringer and connection to the Cosmic Staff will mean that getting that power will make Eclipso unstoppable by having the biggest threat to his power under his control because Jenny Scott even without that little bit of possession to get Jenny out the fight, Jenny's just not ready to be at the same level as the team we've been following. What do you think Pat did to Rick's Uncle since the dude was already in a hospital bed so beating him further may have been unlikely? Also Beth and Chuck/Charles/Dr. Midnight are adorable together.

That shot of Eclipso-Courtney was creepy as hell.

Also, was hoping Mike could get the pen back sad

[up]x2

The implication from the way he was talking and how he closed the blinds/window is that Pat killed the uncle but that doesn't actually make any sense so I dunno what he could've done.

Bones looks weird, but I assume they wasted the rest of their budget on literally everything else. They got Keith David though, which works way better then I would have thought!

[up] They will probably fix the CGI by Season 3. Not sure if they will give up on the CGI in order to just have Keith David walking around as I don't know if Stargirl or the CW could afford Keith David for more than voice.

Eclipso is definitely the darkest CW villain for this year. His end was a bit inglorious, but hey, saw that pun coming and I loved it tongue

Next Season will surely be....interesting. Immediately recognized Keith David. Great choice!

Man was Eclipso a dark but fun villain.

It certainly is going to be an interesting season 3. I can already see the conflict brewing between Pat and Sylvester

Finally caught up with the series. Why do I get the feeling that the next season is going to veer straight into wacky sitcom territory. XD. "Frenemies" indeed.

The one thing I asked for in the beginning of this season was a good adaptation of The Shade, after The Flash completely screwed him up. And I got a fantastic adaptation of the character who even gets to stick around for a while! So I'm definitely happy.

As for the other stuff in the ending, I love that Eclipso was actually turned into toast after Jakeem said it, since I was hoping for that punchline. The role reversal with Beth was glorious. May her family forever remain the wacky, awkward branch of the JSA. And of course I like the idea that we have all these moral people now stuck holding the leash for a band of gleefully amoral people next season - should be a hoot.

And hell, I just love that this series is just a full-on embracing of the wild and bizarre of comics in a way that even The Flash doesn't entirely go to, which is really the only way you can do the Justice Society. I saw Keith David's name in the beginning of the end of the episode, and kept looking out for him, until holy shit DIRECTOR BONES?! I was expecting next season to be Johnny Sorrow, but that definitely rocks.
