We've just pushed a large overhaul public. Please report complaints, comments and concerns here. When reporting bugs, please make sure you include which browser(s) and platform(s) you have encountered the issue with.
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
- Why did we do this? This update has been in development for over a year. It replaces a vast amount of messy code on the back-end, gives us a new modernized design, updates us to https, and creates a platform that we can more easily build on for future updates.
- Can we go back to the old design? This isn't happening. We'll make the new one work.
- Why are there so many bugs? As with any major overhaul, some problems will occur. The developers are working full-time on fixing stuff.

For whatever reason things from Following list no longer display any indicator at all. The only way I've noticed anything changed was because I remembered the last entry on the top of the list from last check. There were no marks when I checked a minute ago, despite having pages on top and those weren't pages I've visited at that time.
In other words - it was displaying a mark of edit, now it doesn't indicate changes in any way. This is Chrome, Win 7, previously worked just fine.

TV Tropes - They Changed It, Now It Sucks! So this is what it’s like to be logged out randomly, don’t think I particularly like that happening. I’d also like to know what the new features are, because the only thing I’ve found so far is that there might be a new search option. Maybe. Otherwise I have no idea what they tried to add or improve other than how things look, and would like to know where to find information on it.
So if that can’t be fixed, someone’s gonna have to convert them into links, otherwise I predict much bitterness.
I don’t think that worked very well

From what I gathered from mod posts, a majority of the fixes were to coding, making it impossible to revert. The original coding for the site was full of bugs and poorly made, so every revision is an effort to fix said coding or make it work better.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Re the sidebar being too wide — it's on all the browsers I've used, but worst on Safari (Discar asked). I think it's the ratio with the other part. There needs to be less of it, and there can be. The longest link is to YKTS, which is just over half the sidebar space, and if we bring back Show Spoilers to the Display options there would be five and they could be re-spaced and have a square half the size of the current switches that is green with check OR grey, rather than showing the white half as well. You could even expand into the empty side space a bit, though I don't mind the modular effect.
OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!Okay, sol there was a lot of stuff that I might have accidentally skipped over, so, tell me if this one has been said already. So, I was editing an article and once I finished editing, boom, edit locked. I don't know what happened but I can't find any evidence I did anything wrong to get the page edit locked.
Read Pokemon Ultimate Emerald![]()
It was for coding, so I don't think it was anything visible on-site.
That one's been said. Hopefully it gets fixed soon!
Display from my auxiliary laptop, Win 7/Firefox 12 (I know this is antique version, but still):

Text just goes and goes and goes and goes...
Same laptop, Chrome this time:

The sidebar and empty spaces are literally wider than the text box; and then there is the issue with the image being wider than the bit of text next to it
Neither was an issue in older version.

TV Tropes - They Changed It, Now It Sucks! It works on the forums, but on pages any small-text markup doesn't work (at least on the first level), e.g. the tree on YMMV.Black Mirror.
Headers within folders are offset, which offsets everything below them further, which is also ugly and wastes space and makes it look like it was hastily squashed in there (e.g. many character folders, take Characters.Black Mirror San Junipero for one)
The new effects done to images has also broken the JustForFun.Black Mirror page (it's entirely made of images). Images also no longer overlap headers, it seems, which makes for bad formatting (e.g. NightmareFuel.Black Mirror, Series.Philip K Dicks Electric Dreams).
Also, the font for "Awesome Music" and "Tear Jerker" is currently displayed as Comic Sans (and only AM and TJ, the rest of Sugar Wiki is fine). WMG yellow is painful on the eyes.

OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!Remember people "bad coding" doesn't necessarily translate to "buggy." It might just mean the wiki doesn't run efficiently, so it costs more than good code would.
That's just my take, though. I have no insider knowledge here.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.Speaking of new functions: where is the bloody patch-list? I mean turns out not only we had invisible beta for this that apparently nobody heard about, but there are some new functions that aren't simple layout redesign.
Seriously, the lack of communication of all this stuff is staggering. We are talking about classic "IT department vs. rest of the corp." miscommunication.
TV Tropes - They Changed It, Now It Sucks!Septimus Heap - Can I be that guy and ask what new features would they lose? Seriously, I am still waiting for an answer as to what has changed besides the look. I am counting 0 new features, and if I really wanted to go full that guy, I would say we are currently at -2 features given as we are down a spoiler button on the sidebar and a watchlist without red dots. Edit: Are they seriously saying that the coding changes behind the scenes warranted this ugly new UI? We couldn't have the old site that 99% of us liked with the new coding? Fishy.

it's annoying not being able to search thread titles, that's a feature i really liked on TV Tropes

I tried to edit one of the sub-pages for Courage the Cowardly Dog, but the page once again kept refreshing itself every time I clicked Save.
At least this time, cancelling my edit doesn't cause the page to become locked.
Hey, folks. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this, but there's a problem with one of the Summary pages. On the Summary page for Live-Action TV, all of the redlinks show up as bluelinks. Kind of makes it hard to tell if any of those pageless shows have gotten pages or not. By the way, as far as I know, that's the only Summary page with that problem.
Also, links that lead to disambiguation pages show up red instead of blue like they did before (noticed this on the other Summary pages).

Links to nonexistent pages where a page with the same title exists in a different namespace (like Main.Adventure Time) show up as sometimes red and sometimes blue. They should be purple or something.
Also, redirects don't work. (Example.) I think that redirects should look like they do now, but only when the redirect is indexed somewhere. That way, people would know and remove them from the indexes, replacing them with the page's unredirected title.

Um... WOW. K, still going to add this because I dunno:
The preview button no longer works for me, pages randomly decide whether or not they're going to save when I click the button, pages randomly lock and unlock themselves (which randomly may or may not prevent a page from being edited), and tons of working links to works appear as red links (but still function normally). I'm on Firefox version 56.0, Windows 10, and I do use a VPN and User Agent String spoofer for privacy but even with those disabled fully I get the exact same results.
Morgan Wick I went back and read the post that you linked and you are 100% correct. Everyone here saying ''Oh, we beta tested the hell out this! You just weren't there to see us do it" is simply not telling the whole truth as I saw no bulletin link to it, no forum link, no PM, no Kickstarter e-mail. It just happened to a very lucky and/or chosen few and was then rolled out.
Edited by thatsnumberwang on Jun 27th 2018 at 10:35:29 AM
In the old system, they always showed up as blue. I presume that now they're trying to make them show up as red, and it's glitching.
But please do not make them show up as purple. I'm colorblind and wouldn't be able to see the difference, but even if I could I can't think of any real benefit.
