We've just pushed a large overhaul public. Please report complaints, comments and concerns here. When reporting bugs, please make sure you include which browser(s) and platform(s) you have encountered the issue with.
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
- Why did we do this? This update has been in development for over a year. It replaces a vast amount of messy code on the back-end, gives us a new modernized design, updates us to https, and creates a platform that we can more easily build on for future updates.
- Can we go back to the old design? This isn't happening. We'll make the new one work.
- Why are there so many bugs? As with any major overhaul, some problems will occur. The developers are working full-time on fixing stuff.

Also adding some possible reasons for some of the other changes:
Left hand sidebar because there used to be one in older versions of the site.
Plaintext edit history because that's what it was like in every version but the last one, where it showed many glitches of things supposedly deleted/added when unrelated parts of the page were moved (because it used line counters, I assume)
Query threads on new pages because it was asked for in wishlist
New Sugar Wiki design because it's fun, I do like it, though it shouldn't be on Awesome or Terajerker (and maybe not Heartwarming), because sad moments don't go well with the strawberry ice cream look.

OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!I hate this new style. There was no need to change it. Can you please undo it?
Also, every single time I leave the site I get logged out even though I have Remember Me turned on.
Check out my fanfiction account here!I've just found that whenever I try to open a folder of sufficient length, after a certain point, it gets cut off by the folder below. To see the rest, you have to highlight then drag/scroll down to see other parts, making it more like a page within a page - see here. Oh, and I'm using the latest version of Chrome, on a Lenovo laptop that's barely a year old.

yes, and since I haven't got a message I think that confirms they're broken

OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!Before going to bed yesterday, I tried editing We're Still Relevant, Dammit for The Simpsons. It was a minor edit, but I can say that the edit went through without a problem and the page did not seem to edit-lock itself after. So, let's call that a small victory. (And I'm using Opera browser)
Not that this changes my stance. Nobody seems to have wanted this change. There were no problems with the previous design, the format was great, it had its color-scheme and changes for a medium's subpages. Go back, PLEASE. And kindly do not say any stupid thing like, "Well, we lost the source for the old design and format" because it would be pretty F-ing stupid to change something like this and NOT keep a back-up.

If it ain't broke...
SMILE DARN YA SMILEPersonally, I find this layout's headers and background changes on different tabs to be aesthetically displeasing and questionable (why did the header get covered in chocolate for the funny/awesome page? that's kinda ridiculous tbh and not a very good play on "sugar wiki") and I don't particularly enjoy the new folder tab designs (they're far too "wide" and not as easily noticeable in my eyes). I really do want to know what was so wrong with the original layout that it had to be completely overhauled with a rather messy one that few people seem to like from reading this post. I'd suggest a revision back to the old format while fixing whatever bugs were in that one, or creating an entirely new layout that isn't this.
A small positive: the new Thumpped message is pretty good.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢On the topic of the sugar-wiki joke with the neon-pink headers... uh, yeah, they are also in use for the Tear Jerker tabs. I dunno, seeing neon-pink headers and chocolate dripping down from the top is not what I would put onto a subpage that is supposed to make me cry (usually out of sadness)...
Why the heck is Times New Roman the font for Darth Wiki page titles?
The previous one was at least thematically appropriate.
Spelunking through a Halo Ring is something else...On mobile, there is no random media button.
I used to plug my deviantart here but turns out the link was too long.G2BattleConvoy that is likely because the font that should be displayed isn't working on the dev end
OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!I can't tell how many pages are in a forum thread until I'm already on the last one.
Fully agree with FF 00 FF, they put it way better than I could have.
So, admins, given what the majority of votes are leaning towards in a certain poll in addition to all of the comments on this very thread... I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be opposed to the idea of y'all recalling this site design and returning to the previous one, like you did way back in 2015. And that's my two cents on the matter.

I tried editing and for me (Chrome, Win 10, both the newest versions, desktop PC) both this and previewing edits work fine now. The preview didn't show a line break in the description, though, but the saved edit shows it fine.
I tried expanding and indexing the stub Creator.Kai Ashante Wilson. The index I put it on isn't showing on the page proper, though, and only two of the listed works actually have work pages on TV Tropes, meaning three should be redlinks but are showing as blue.

- [Desktop, Firefox] Spoilers can be highlighted and clicked, but the mouse cursor is now always the "clickable link" cursor, regardless of whether the hidden text under the cursor is a link or not (which I used to use to avoid accidentally clicking a link while trying to reveal a spoiler).
- [Desktop, Firefox] On the "add post" page, the textbox's caret is now invisible.
You can only read one conversation at a time in Ask The Tropers.
I used to plug my deviantart here but turns out the link was too long.Honestly, there's like three or four minor improvements that this made, and none of them couldn't be added to the old format. Best to listen to your users and revert the changes, keeping the few that were well-received.
This is minor but irritating. For me at least (still on mobile, using an LG K10), the edit button is pushed to the right and the text overlaps with the pencil icon.
Also, the Trope Launch Pad needs help. Every draft I visit gives me the same message about leaving comments about the draft below, and the draft font is unreadable in Night Vision because it's gray on black. The dropdown menu still calls it YKTTW.

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI don't know if it was reported before, but I think the night mode should have less blue.
The old night mode, using green, was easier on the eyes.
The new mod-post highlighting is barely noticeable at all.
Last time I checked, folders were working fine for me. I also quite like the folder design. However, while I could edit fine before I have been experiencing some lock outs since it was apparently fixed.
Also not sure if summoning tags work or not.
And on this admittedly old iPad, clicking links is a dice roll between it working and getting the message "operation cancelled".
Re links: on mobile, the external links on very long text is working fine, going to new lines as normal... But anything wiki worded is not, instead continuing on its original line.
