We've just pushed a large overhaul public. Please report complaints, comments and concerns here. When reporting bugs, please make sure you include which browser(s) and platform(s) you have encountered the issue with.
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
- Why did we do this? This update has been in development for over a year. It replaces a vast amount of messy code on the back-end, gives us a new modernized design, updates us to https, and creates a platform that we can more easily build on for future updates.
- Can we go back to the old design? This isn't happening. We'll make the new one work.
- Why are there so many bugs? As with any major overhaul, some problems will occur. The developers are working full-time on fixing stuff.

At the very least an option to go back to the old colors? This dark header and white pages hurts my eyes. And Night Vision isn't any better...
Seriously, what needed to be changed?
thatsnumberwang, I agree. I like doing some housekeeping on some pages, especially if I notice several new tropes I could apply.

Can we please, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND ALL THAT IS HOLY, get the old GOOD UI that actualy WORKED and did not look ABSOLUTELY HIDEOUS back or at least have an option to change it back ?
There's literally over 5 pages full of complaints here that range from the UI being bad* to probably HUNDRENDS of minor glitches and inconviences TO PEOPLE BEING ABLE TO LOG INTO OTHER PEOPLE'S ACCOUNTS AND VIEW THEIR EMAILS ?
WHY, WHY DID YOY YOU HAVE TO "FIX" SOMETHING THAT IS NOT BROKEN !?
(1) Which is IS
[1] [2] [3] Click the links for some info about my avatar.I'm also throwing my hat in the "old layout please" or at least a rollback option like what youtube has, so those who like this layout can choose this one and those who don't can stick with the old one.
In particular the green ticks on unread threads were a really handy visual cue compared to the blue/grey distinction that is harder to see.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"1. The link to this thread in the Bulletin is broken.
2. The lack of a visible cursor while writing/editing posts is super annoying (Firefox).
3. I miss the "back" button at the bottom of forums threads that would take you back to the subforum you're in. This was very useful when reading long threads, so you don't have to go way back in your browser if you're archive binging the thread.

"It's just a show; I should really just relax"I agree with the others. This isn't even an issue with the look of the site and more of the bugs being so broken that it takes away any interest in using TV Tropes. If it's at all possible, the old layout should be switched back until these bugs get sorted out. The site is practically unusable in the current state it's in.
I've also noticed that I can't get crowners to display once they've been hooked to a thread. Like, they're auto-collapsed, but the show-hide button won't uncollapse them.

"We know ALL the animals."I mean no offense when I say this, but I want to be honest—I really don't appreciate how the "new" (as in "have been here for a couple of years") admins have been treating the site. It seems to me like they're never satisfied with what they've got, putting out redesigns and new layouts regardless of how appealing or functional they are for years on end. Rushing out an Obvious Beta website with glitches upon glitches, glaring security flaws, and more than a few unnecessary changes on top of that seems to be the last straw for a lot of people.
(Also the "new post" background makes the text of that post completely unreadable on night mode.)

pearlina brainrot affects millions of people worldwide. if you or a loved one are suffering from pearlina brainrot, call 1-800-GAY-NERDSI'm not sure why they decided with the new design, but I don't think that's as important as the myriad of technical issues that it has had so far. I'm no computer expert(I barely even qualify as a novice), so I won't judge the people who decided on this. However, I also tend to be rather impatient and would like the problems this new format has to be solved as soon as possible. Can I know how long that would take?
Lets get that petition going - it sounds like I'm not the only one who wants this So Bad Its Horrible layout gone.

When editing a page, you can theoretically scroll down the page or the edit window. However, if I try to scroll down the page, it scrolls the edit window (scrolling the edit window is obviously fine). Sometimes this is just for a few paragraphs, sometimes it makes me scroll to the bottom of the edit window before it will scroll the page — which is needed to hit 'save'. Obviously this is a major issue when the page you're editing is long.
On a separate note, editing seems to work fine for me so far.
