We've just pushed a large overhaul public. Please report complaints, comments and concerns here. When reporting bugs, please make sure you include which browser(s) and platform(s) you have encountered the issue with.
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
- Why did we do this? This update has been in development for over a year. It replaces a vast amount of messy code on the back-end, gives us a new modernized design, updates us to https, and creates a platform that we can more easily build on for future updates.
- Can we go back to the old design? This isn't happening. We'll make the new one work.
- Why are there so many bugs? As with any major overhaul, some problems will occur. The developers are working full-time on fixing stuff.

Commenting out a line creates a visible empty line.
Source for comparison.
Clumsy yellow highlight added by me. This was on Manga.Kingdom Hearts 358 Days Over 2.
Reposting some old issues (please don't thump me, I just want to make sure you know!):
If I go to previous comics in the Tropes Illustrated box on the home page, the link text will change to another trope but the URL will not—the link always goes to Super-Soldier. Similarly, the trope description is always from Super-Soldier.
Edit times on forum posts are inaccurate: they're hardcoded to the poster's timezone instead of changing to the viewer's, and will say "AM" even if it was a PM time.
All these issues were observed on Windows 10 Enterprise, Firefox 61.0.1 64-bit.
Edit to timestamp error: I'm seeing some PMs now, but it looks like it comes up inconsistently. I'm still seeing incorrect AMs on my posts.
It also looks like the edit timestamps across the board are still in the poster timezone.

Visual Bug: As seen at least on Sandbox.TLP Reform Statistics, the note markup is still broken in colon-indented lists on the wiki. Let me try to recreate it here in the forums:
- Line Item 1
- Three-Colon Indent 1
- Three-Colon Indent 2
- Three-Colon Indent 3 note
- Three-Colon Indent 4
Something that was weird in the old formatting that has persisted on the wiki is that when a colon-indented paragraph has a [[note]] in it, the paragraph becomes bolded for some reason. I would consider this a bug, but it was around in the old version of TV Tropes as well. Should it be undone or does it serve some (long forgotten?) purpose? What I'm talking about is specifically on the wiki, as you can see by comparing this post and Sandbox.TLP Reform Statistics.
There's an old bug with the note markup that's returned. If the note markup has the same characters in it as another, then only the first note will open. For example:
- Types of Fruit
- Apples
- Apricots note
- Watermelon note

Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyI don't see my bug about incorrect timestamps on subforums on any of those lists. It's still happening.
Any word on the status of crowners? As far as I'm concerned, this is the biggest issue with the update that still hasn't been fixed.

"It's just a show; I should really just relax"I seem to be unable to edit my post on the Discussion page for YMMV.Tomb Raider 2018. I was going to fix the red-link to GameFAQs, but it didn't save. The post history just shows that a bunch of backslashes were added before every single apostrophe, which don't show up on the actual page.
Windows 7, Chrome.
Laconic pages still aren't showing links to the Previous and Next tropes. (Windows 10, Google Chrome)
So hit 'em with a whole tidal wave ~ We're killing it the entire wayI can't post unless I set No Style in Firefox, and the forums cut off text. Firefox 56, Mac OS Sierra.
Another (minor) problem I've been having is that when I log in, I'm used to hitting Tab only once to get from the Username box to the Password box, but now I have to hit it twice, or I end up "typing" my password into the "Forgot Username?" button. Could the "Forgot Username/Password" buttons be put together below both boxes?
So hit 'em with a whole tidal wave ~ We're killing it the entire wayI can't edit discussion replies in Opera 54.0.2952.51. They show up in the edit history, but no changes are made; if I edit it again, it changes from the original unedited text. Also, when I post replies, a slash is inserted before each apostrophe, so "can't" comes out as "can/'t".

Submachine complains that a statement that refers one to the YMMV-tab needs to be moved to the YMMV-tab, which is counter-productive.
It shouldn't be there to begin with. Examples shouldn't refer to other examples.
Edit: That's not the only problem on that page; the Example Indentation is a mess, and I see several violations of Zero-Context Example, Examples Are Not Arguable, Examples Are Not General, and Word Cruft.
Edit: Cleaned up what I could.

I got a rock for Halloween.I see zero context examples, and generally figure that they were made before the No Zero Context Example rule was applied.
Also, wasn't the paragraph issue on trope/character pages fixed? Amnesia (Otome) still hasn't done separate paragraphs, although I know that they were written that way to have paragraphs. (At least it isn't one large wall of text anymore)

If you mean the \\ formatting, I was able to use it when replacing misused third bullet points when fixing the bad indentation I previously mentioned.
No, I'm talking about there not being paragraphs when I know there should be.
In the page I linked, the heroine's description is supposed to be two paragraphs. It isn't. It's merely written with a single line break.
I wrote that description on that character page myself, I never used the \\ formatting to make paragraphs, so I know it was written as typical paragraphs. (And I'm on Opera, Win 7)
I think I know what you mean now. I recall paragraphs not working on Ask the Tropers even with a a blank line between them; haven't checked to see if that's fixed.
Visual bug: backslashes "\" are being added before single quotes/apostrophes in discussion posts [1]
. Firefox on Mac OS.
Also, the forum draft function is still buggy- it only saves the first paragraph, and the draft shows up on any and all threads I post on, even after the draft text was incorporated into a post. Thought this was fixed but not anymore.
