Yeah, that's my concern too. The stuff from the "Crisis" games bleeding into the remake. Genesis showing up would be the worst.

I thought Crisis Core was regarded as a good game?

Also, wasn't Genesis hinted to be the last FFVII villain in some yet-to-be-developed sequel?

Genesis will almost definitely be in if there are new bonus bosses. He's not dead. There's nothing stopping him from showing up.

Crisis Core is a good game. Not amazing, but good. Genesis has nothing to do with that. Nobody cares about him, and the general tone of Crisis Core doesn't totally gel with FFVII's, so adding stuff from CC or DoC into the VII remake would just be putting in extraneous shit that would go nowhere and hurt the story and setting.

There was a teaser involving Genesis in Dirge of Cerberus. Nobody cares because the game sucked and Genesis sucked and any follow-up will likely never be made.

There's nothing stopping him from showing up.

I can think of a few. Like Decency. The desire to not add a shitty character to a good game whose existence only served to undermine the plot.

Genesis as a character was like a bad OC. Shows up and inserts himself into a plot that had absolutely no reason for him to be there.

I don't want him in the game's main story. Maybe as a bonus boss fight in the post-game, but definitely not in the main story.

[up][up][up] You know, Dirge of Cerberus has one important thing: the lore regarding Vincent. And I don't think the game's bad itself. Personally, I'm sort of a fan of Shelke. And yes, I know the humongous debate about Lucrecia's character, so I won't be diving into this right now.

Vincent was almost completely ignored in the original. We don't need mentions of Deepground and shit, but we need Vincent to get some needed spotlight on the main game like Yuffie got.

On Crisis Core, there's tons of information that ended up leading to the main game, especially when it comes to Zack and Sephiroth.

You get the barest amount of info on Vincent but it kinda adds to the mystery of the character and well he is one of the people hiding the info as well.

To really add info they would need to rewrite his character or sections of the game where its just him, especially if they want to keep Durge canon.

Crisis Core added him to the iconic Nibelheim scene. There's a fun thought.

He really is! You read his description on the wiki, and it really reads like a bad fanfic character that's shoehorned into the plot. "Oh, he's like, one of Sephiroth's friend. He also wears a cool trenchcoat, but it's red. And he has a red sword! And he too is a result of experimentation. And like, he finds out and he's the one who makes Sephiroth find out. But like, unlike Sephiroth he doesn't go evil coz like, he's cool. Also he loves poetry."

That and Genesis Rhapsodos is like one of the worst names I've ever heard. It belongs next to After Earth's Cypher Raige.

'Genesis Rhapsodos' fits when you think that one of the characters is basically named Sefirot.

Also the era of JRP Gs.... it had names like Fayt Leingod and Shing Meteoryte.

I know about Sephiroth, but he's at least saved by not having a last name. I'd laugh just as much if Sephiroth was called "Sephiroth Lucifer" or some trite shit.

Like, I could roll with "Genesis" or "Rhapsodos" but its the combination of the two that makes it ridiculous.

I'm still interested in seeing of the remake will have a save-Aerith option. I've heard excellent arguments both for and against.

I personally am in the do both department. Make it a New Game Plus option to have her live or have her ghost in the party.

I'd be okay with it being some sort of New Game Plus option.

It would show uncharacteristic restraint from Square Enix not to include it in some form or another.

Admitedly, if I were to do it, rather than making a "Happy mode" where the game's Waifu lives. I'd make an Aerith mode, where Cloud dies and Aerith takes over as main character from that point on. And the story changes accordingly.

Didn't it say that they were going to be more hints that Cloud was going to have more implied romantic feelings for Sephiroth when he was still his heroes? That will add more fuel to the Foe Yay between them.

I am alright with the idea of a "ghost Aerith" in NG+ for battles. I think actually saving her would be a godawful idea. What I'm most concerned about regarding her is whether or not they'll stick with her original personality.

I'd be cool with an "Aeris lives" ending as long as the ending reflects that Holy was never activated and everyone dies as a result

Aerith didn't need to die to activate Holy though. And Holy wasn't much help against Meteor at the end, so it's all kind of moot anyway.

Aerith is the one that gets the lifestream to push Meteor so Holy can destroy it, as when Holy activates, it's too close.
