The awesome thing is Shoji Kawamori designed the Diaclone Battle Convoy that became Optimus Prime, which in turn was the basis for Ginrai.
...Huh. I just like Masterforce, I had no idea that connection was there. Cool!
Hmmm. I would probably name mine after various hypothetical Gundam designs.
The Karx Rider.

We'll finally know what a karx would be and why you would ride it.
The Lean Mean Murder Machina
x2 The mystery will finally been solved after all these years.
Gotta say that Blue Mercury or Diamond Dust sound tempting.
If I get the game and can name the robots I'll probably go with names from Code Geass or Gundam.
Reminds me of that S.L.A.I game where I named my Mech "Iced", my AI assistant "Kappa" and my Player Character "Sheeno".
Very few people got it. (Say them all together and you get my favorite drink.)
wouldn't have got it without the hint.
Nintendo will show off a couple of its upcoming games at Gamescom, including Super Mario Party, Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country, and Daemon X Machina.
As for an additional tidbit, producer Kenichiro Tsukuda comments on potential online multiplayer for DXM.
Kinda sad it's not already confirmed to have online multiplayer, especially with the Treehouse video emphesizing the extra hanger spaces being there for additional players.
If it turns out to not have multiplayer, it could just be for multiple designs made by the player.
Like a Mecha equivalent of your typical loadout selection in your typical shooter.
That'd be something to see. Jumping from one mech to another?
Ooh, that'd be cool.
It not having online MP isn't a deal breaker, mind. Just thought it'd be fun to squad up with friends.
Assuming we don't have any info on Crimson Lord and Diablo, I just had a thought about them; What if Diablo is a bad guy and Crimson Lord is a good guy? The reason I ask is because think about their voice-actors most popular roles.
Gamescom 2018 teaser
So, the pilots are augmented on some way or wears some kind of power suit?
The scale of this game is astounding. Going from on foot, to inside your Humongous Mecha, to fighting robots that are as big compared to your mecha as your mecha is to you!
I imagine that they're wearing Power Armour that can act as a medium between whatever implants they have and some of the Mech's systems.
...And once again, I can't help but compare that to the Calamity War once again.
Looks like online co-op is in after all!
I don't know why I feel so strongly on this. I guess it's because, just for once have friends who are also interested and squadding up with custom characters and mecha is gonna be awesome.
I know I'll be down to kick some AI ass by your side when this game hits retail, GH!
Seriously, Daemon X Machina seems like the one thing we didn't even know we wanted on the Switch until E3 dropped, and yet some people act like Nintendo had nothing going for them besides Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that entire conference...
Between this and Metal Wolf Chaos FINALLY no longer being too American for America, 2019 is shaping up to be a good year for mecha fans everywhere, isn't it?
I thought that character art looked familiar, it's Yusuke Kozaki of No More Heroes fame. The mecha themselves look like Xenoblade Chronicles X skells, wonder if they're re-using any tech?

Beyond both being mecha games on a Nintendo platform, I'm not seeing the resemblance besides both taking their visual cues from mecha anime? Plus, Takayuki Yanase's Skell designs were all obviously mechanical with big armored plates attached to a robotic endo skeleton. Shoji Kawamori's talked about how his designs for this emphasize a humanoid musculature look to give off an Ambiguous Robots vibe.
