I'm willing to at least give this a chance. Kubo and the Two Strings may have not had the strongest plot, but it had abundant heart. And more than anything that's what Transformers needs. I mean having a lot of heart despite being made to sell a bunch of imported Japanese toys is a big reason why Transformers endured in one for or another for nearly 35 years (uninterrupted in Europe and Japan), when most of it's contemporaries have been cyclical at best. Bet cinematography in action scenes also helps and Kubo was also really good about that.
New trailer is coming tomorrow, have a teaser!
Cue cries of "THIS IS HOW THE LIVE-ACTION MOVIES SHOULD HAVE BEEN!" in Three... Two... One......
Yeah, a soft reboot/stealth reboot is totally likely. And its connection to the live-action films by Michael Bay may be just a coverup to hide the fact it's a soft reboot.
Also, I kinda wish that Soundwave's face was more TF Prime Soundwave's face. There's something unsettling of a character that is faceless with no distinguishable features.
Man, Bumblebee really has the deck stacked against him here. He's the only Autobot on Earth, there are at least three Decepticons, the military is hunting him down, and he needs to protect a girl the whole time too. Is there a trope that can describe this situation?
Also, is there a trope for someone who has multiple alternate modes, because Shatter and Dropkick showed they can transform into planes, cars, and robots. It's not Triple Shifter, because that's, "Someone who works multiple jobs or leads a double life has little time to rest."
David Versus Goliath, I think. And I don't think the latter shows up enough in fiction to be a trope.

It's a bit too early to say, but it does feel like we're finally getting a proper live action transformers film after just over 10 years of....well...
...the other stuff.
The lesson is hate Michael Bay forever, and let it fester and consume you.
One Strip! One Strip!Oh yeah.
John Cena hasn't been a heel since he first became a doctor of Thugonomics.
It sure took him a while.
One Strip! One Strip! He's in TMNT too?
Oh, but that's the one where Raphael is apparently the leader right?
...meh.
One Strip! One Strip!Huh.
I see.
So he's the Shredder, or another Big Bad?
...but...Leonardo leads... It's literally in his job description...
...Oh yeah. Transformers stuff too.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
Another Big Bad, an Emperor Scientist mutant who wants to evolve all of humanity & can turn invisible. Shredder’s not gonna appear for a while I believe, like any big Batman villains in Beware the Batman.
Not exactly.
Their kinda doing a spiritual prequel thing where the show takes place before the turtles are fully trained. Raph is the self-appointed leader & it’s clear he’s not very good at it while Leo is the prodigy who has the all potential to be the leader but isn’t living up to it at the moment because he’s more interest in having fun due to being a teenager.
Amusingly the Big Brother Billy dynamic is reversed because Raph no longer has any of his anger issues & is just the big sweet lovable tough guy while Leo is the one who regularly insults his siblings, specifically Raph most of the time for being a poor leader & general moron.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The trailer looks nice enough but I still have my reservations. Foremost is that the glimpses of Cybertron and Optimus look to be ripped straight from Generation One, meaning they look like a bunch of cubes stuck together in a robot shape. The imagery immediately reminded me immediately of Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, which were fine enough games but even they were more innovative with updating the G1 look. It also clashes with both Bumblebee's G1-inspired redesign and the Decepticon enemies (who seemed to be much closer to the Bay designs), making the film feel like it has no unified design scheme.

Transformers: The Movie
from the 80's will be playing in select theaters as a warm up to Bumblebee.
You got the touch!
