By petition of my regular players, I am relaunching this game *if* there is enough interest from committed players.

For those unfamiliar with this game (whose original version ran for years here) this is an Alternate Universe in which Marvel and DC Comics characters co-exist.

Setting Description

  • The Justice League is the world's premier superhero team, its purpose being to protect Earth, Black Panther is a member.
  • The Avengers is New York's main superhero team. Firestorm is a member.
  • When the Challengers of the Unknown retired, the Fantastic Four continued their research. While it usually features the same members, some of the original Doom Patrol occasionally substitute in when a member takes a leave of absence.
  • The X-Men include some of DC's mutants, such as the Doom Patrol's Celsius. Conversely, the more freakish mutants join the Patrol instead.
  • The Teen Titans began as an alliance of kid sidekicks but eventually 'graduated' into The Avengers. The current Titans is a mix of Young Justice and The New Warriors.
  • The Defenders is a "non-team". This means anyone can join when they want. So basically this is "the team for everybody else". This includes DC's Outsiders.

Character Requisites are:

  • Marvel and Dc characters, only. Characters officially integrated from other companies into either universe are acceptable.
  • Comic book versions only. If you are only familiar with one from the movies or TV, ask first and I'll help you adapt it properly.
  • You may play villains as long as they are not too evil. Like, looney Joker is OK, Serial Killer Joker is not.
  • The character's origin must be the same. Other details (group affiliations, relationships, foes etc.) are not fixed tho. You may also add elements from the other company (ex. Kryptonians were part of the Kree empire).
  • No amalgamations, except of characters who exist in both universes (like Thor).

The overarching plot will involve The Secret Society of Super Villains, an alliance between all major villains. Players may write their own plots using any Marvel or Dc characters, and may connect them to the main plot if they wish.

Anybody interested MUST post their character in this thread, even if they had already done so in the earlier thread. This is to gauge if there's enough interest to start the game.

Posting my sign up for consideration (again!) in case the game gets more players.

  • Name :Supergirl
  • Real Name: Kara Zor-El/Kara Kent
  • Gender: Female
  • Age :Teenager "
  • Appearance: As Supergirl Civilian
  • Alignment : Good
  • Personality: Kara is a decent person if a bit immature and impulsive. She wants to do good and save other people. She struggles to become as good as her cousin Superman, yet find her own place in a foreign new world. However, her greatest advantage from Superman is that she is less of an ideal to aspire like he is and more of a woman that aspires to be that ideal of hope. She has interest besides being a superhero, and she is a typical teenager.
  • Powers and Abilities:
    • Heat vision: Her eyes create heat beams that can melt steel.
  • X-ray Vision: She can see through any solid object, except lead.
  • Super breath/freeze breath: She is able to push objects with a wind coming from her lungs or even freeze objects, with a lot of effort.
  • Super hearing: She can hear conversations from very far, and some frequencies too low for normal humans-
  • Super speed: Not as fast as the flash, nor as precise. But she can move fast enough to dodge a bullet at least and seem like a blur or the naked eye.
  • Superhuman durability: She is not invincible. And in fact,t she is a bit weaker than her cousin because her body hasn’t absorbed as much solar radiation. Altough her skin is bulletproof, explosive things like rocket launchers, bombs and high levels of electricuty would harm her.
  • Superhuman strength : Also not as strong as superman, as her body is still absorbing solar energy. She is not silver ages of strenght. Not by far. But she could lift a 6 Wheeler truck more less as her upper limit.
  • Flight: The ability to defy gravity and move through the air.
  • Weaknesses:
    • Magic: It affects her like anybody else
    • Kryptonite in all it's forms. Green weaknes her, removes her powers and would eventually kill her. Blue renders her powerless.
    • Red sun radiation: It renders her normal

  • Backstory.

Zor-el, Supergirl's father, didn’t believe the warnings of Jor-el about krypton’s incoming doom or the so-called prophecy of rao that also called the end of Krypton. However, as the scientist, he was, even he couldn’t ignore the sight of the Heral of Galactus passing on a galaxy nearby from his telescopes. Would Galactus consume Krypton? He wouldn’t risk his only daughter to find out.

Kara Zor-El was a little girl and a babysitter for baby Kal-el. She was taken to Earth via experimental Zeta beam technology. However, due to the fact, Zor-El rushed the process, they all ended up in the North Pole. Allura in ze and Zor-el didn’t survive the trip, but Kara did freeze in a Kryptonian crystal that saved her life. Her time being frozen explains why she is still a teenager, despite being born before Kal-El“

Young Kara was found by explorer Dr. Virgil Swann. She was amnesic because Zor-El had suppressed her memories and her powers with a blue kryptonite bracelet in an effort for her to live on earth as a normal human.

Nevertheless, her powers did manifest, and she ended up joining the X-men for a while, going under the moniker of “Ultra-girl” for a while. During this period she believed herself to be a mutant and as such suffered from the usual hate and prejudice of being one.

One day, Jean Grey of the X-men, helped her unlock her memories on the city of Argo on Krypton. This prompted her to start her career as Supergirl. In honor of her more popular cousin, she has yet to meet.

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.

  • Identity: Angela. Public identity, though unbeknown to her, her true identity is Aldrif Odinsdottir
  • Powers:
    • Asgardian: As an Asgardian goddess, Angela has all of her physical parameters significantly enhanced compared to a normal human, despite otherwise appearing human. She can lift in excess of 100 tons, is fast enough to have good reflexes and run close to the speed of sound but doesn't appear to exceed it, is durable enough to fight other Asgardians and able to shrug off firearms, has enough stamina to keep her going for months without tiring, can recover from most injuries in a short period of time, can hold her breath almost indefinitely, can survive in the vacuum of space without issue, and is unaffected by all of the diseases and infections of Earth. Considering that she is Odin's oldest child and how slowly Asgardians age, she is likely over a thousand years old.
    • Flight: She can fly somehow without anything helping her. I don't know how.
    • Weapon Mastery: She is really good at fighting with melee weapons.
    • Ribbon Control: She can somehow exert psychic control over the ribbons on her armor.
    • Blades of Ichor: A liquid metal, double-edged scimitar that can take the form of any bladed weapon. It can also be split into two separate weapons, and can take on the form of a whip.
    • Xiphos, the Sword of the Stars: Despite the badass name, it doesn't seem to do anything special beyond being a sword. Presumably it's made out of some nigh-indestructible metal because it doesn't shatter from her hitting stuff with it really hard.
    • Allspeak: Thanks to the Allspeak she can communicate in all of the languages of the Nine Realms, Earth's dialects, and various alien languages.
  • Appearance: Clocks in at 6'2", 480 pounds. And another image.
  • Personality: Somewhat boisterous and cocky, given her propensity for pointed words and large boasts. Not exactly stoic, but doesn't seem to be fazed by things easily. Seemingly favors personal freedom over traditions, given her willingness to come to blows with the Hierophants. Was raised to think she is an Angel, and that Asgardians are her enemies.
  • Origin:
    • Aldrif Odinsdottir was the first born of Odin and Freyja, and heir to the Asgardian throne. When Heven waged war on Asgard, the Queen of Angels kidnapped Aldrif in an attempt to blackmail Odin into surrendering. He refused, and the Queen seemingly killed Aldrif before fleeing. Following this event, Odin used his powers to cut Heven from the other Nine Realms and Yggdrasill. In his hatred, Odin spat a curse upon the Angels, a curse wrought of the Odinforce to bind them from forever returning home, anchoring them deeper in the void. After the Queen of Angels ordered the corpse of the baby to be disposed, the queen's handmaiden Loriel, who was tasked to do this, discovered it was still alive, and raised her as one of the Angels under the name of Angela.
    • Angela was always mocked for being wingless and always sought her mother to comfort her, but at some point, Loriel mysteriously disappeared, leaving no trace behind. Angela eventually became the Leader of the Hunt and went to live in her own manor. She spent a long time where she fought a bunch of monsters, saw many people she cared about die, and generally just being an Angel Warrior Cop person.
    • As a result of some sort of freak incident caused by whatever Sijo likes, a tear in the fabric of reality opened up in the Multiverse. This tear managed to pull Angela into the universe along with the decapitated head of a gigantic humanoid she had just killed and then the tear closed up, cutting her off from the path to Heven and leaving her stranded in a reality not her own. Standing on the moon, she went to the nearby planet, Earth, to see just what in the Ten Realms was going on.

  • Description: [[Bat-Girl https://goo.gl/images/ZK7ZuD]]. [[Bette https://goo.gl/images/oHfehJ]].

  • Personality: Bette is a lifelong superhero fan who eagerly took the opportunity to imitate her heroes. Her privileged upbringing has left her naive and sheltered, but she’s determined, resourceful, and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body.

  • Abilities:

    • Bette is an experienced athlete. She was the best hitter on her softball team, and is also a good pitcher.

    • She’s a decent hand to hand combatant.

  • Equipment:

    • Bette has two main pieces of equipment: an aluminum softball bat, and a utility belt carrying softballs.

    • She’s rich, so that comes in handy.

  • Background:

    • After a supervillain attack on a charity gala she was attending, Bette realized that she wanted to protect people, and her athletic prowess would surely make it easy for her to become a superhero. Now, she balances life as a college student, socialite, and softball bat-wielding vigilante.

I haven't read comics in a while so this would be a little difficult for me to pull off. However, I must ask about the validity of one characters that was only in Marvel comics briefly in the late 1970s. He fought the Avengers and beat JJ Jamieson in a shouting match.

So, is Godzilla a valid character?

First, nobody worry about continuity, that's my job. And in the odd case I might not know something I can always research it online. wink

Second, normally I would say no BUT I'll make an exception for characters who had unique versions that existed only in Marvel or DC. In Godzilla's case, it actually still exists in the Marvel Universe though its appearance was changed by Dr. Demonicus and nobody calls it by its correct name anymore (how convenient!)

  • Identity: Rose Canton, and yes, it is. Thorn goes by the name of Thorn.
  • Personality:
    • Rose:Rose is a kind, thoughtful, slightly shy, pretty normal teenager. On the surface, at least. Inside, she lives in fear of what Thorn might do, and works to control and bargain with her whenever possible. Rose is intelligent and diligent, but will often shy away from people.
    • Thorn:Thorn does whatever the hell she wants to. She's also pretty well completely batshit. However, she will not harm Rose or anyone close to Rose, because she is strangely protective of her, like a psychotic elder sister. She also just like to mess with Rose. Her one motivation is finding out who killed their father, and everything else she does is just for kicks.
  • Powers, Skills And Equipment:
    • Split Personality:If you hadn't guessed by now. Rose and Thorn can switch between each other by a)falling asleep or unconscious, b)deliberate choice by the currently dominant personality or c)enforced switch by an outside force. The third is difficult, and only works when the currently dominant personality is under significant duress or distress. The split personality also has some benefits, as it allows for some resistance to mind control (try to control one personality, the other will take over, etc) and telepathy (only the thoughts of the dominant personality can be read at any one time). Also, Thorn hates intruders in her and Rose's shared mindspace. They can also hold conversations with each other simply by looking in a mirror, focusing a bit or meditating, which pulls both personalities into the previously mentioned shared mindspace, a neutral ground between both personalities where they talk, fight, and study. This is due to her mutation and brought out by the trauma of her father's death, which Doc Sampson helped bring under control.
    • Chlorokinesis: Rose (and Thorn, by extension) is a mutant, with a couple of different powers, but primarily, power over plants. Rose can communicate with them and control them to a minor extent (making vines curl around her enemies' ankles, moving tree branches, etc). Thorn, on the other hand, can make them grow and bend to her will, with power more like Poison Ivy's. Though she cannot use it yet, both Rose and Thorn have access to the Green, a group hive-mind of plants and plant-spirits. This gives them power, and on occasion, they can call on the Green to give them power and pull off feats like growing an improptu forest. It's also worth mentioning that Rose and Thorn have the same level of power, Rose just doesn't know how powerful she can be.
    • Martial Arts:'Thorn has been going on Youtube and teaching herself martial arts while Rose sleeps. As she is self-taught, she's not the best, but she can hold her own in fight. Rose has none of this experience, and relies on her chlorokinesis and wits in a fight.
    • Toxicology and Botany:Both personalities have an active interest in plants, and because of their shared study, powers and interest, they have a working knowledge of plant poisons and plants in general.
  • Weapons and Equipment:Rose has a phone, and a laptop, and a field sample collection kit. Thorn may buy her a taser at some point. Christmas, probably. Thorn doesn't have anything. Except a tendency to improvise.
  • Appearance:When Thorn takes over her hair turns black, but nothing else really changes.
  • Origin:Born to two pretty good parents, her mother was taken from her in car crash when Rose was young. From there, Rose began waking up in odd places, things in her room wouldn't be where she left them in the morning. Eventually, she began to write greetings on a notepad on her desk. This was the first communication she had with Thorn. From there, she begun to hear a voice in her head, see a face in a mirror which wasn't quite hers. Everything went downhill when her father was killed. By who, it is unknown. Two nights after his funeral, Rose woke up with blood on her hands which wasn't hers. In the notebook on her desk, a list of names were written. She turned herself into the police. At her own request (mainly because they couldn't find anything, she was institutionalised, and spent around three years, getting to know Thorn, her motivations and beliefs. During that time, she took an interest in botany to keep herself entertained. This had the added bonus of keeping Thorn interested as well. It was also revealed during this time that both personalities had control over plants. After being released (the police still couldn't find anything, and it was decided she had enough control over Thorn to be released), she moved to New York to lose herself in the crowd, and pretend she's perfectly normal, thank you very much. She works full-time at a florist.
  • Other: I'd appreciate suggestions for the names on the List.

The only problem I have is that I want the original Thorn to also have existed in this world (and possibly still be alive.) and it would be too much of a coincidence to have two plant manipulators with split personalities.

How about having her be actually Rose's daughter Mayflower? She starts as the new Thorn, before eventually learning the truth about her mother, and changing her name to Mayflower.

Little in backstory, I know, but I feel like I wanted this one to have a fresh start...

  • Identity: The Joker
  • Description: Fig 1, Fig 2, Fig 3.
  • Personality: While over the years can seem to shift drastically in mindset, The Joker currently is a card-carrying example of an enthusiastic entertainer, carrying a charming set of mannerisms and a surprisingly and disarmingly normal pattern of speech, tending to plant a seed of doubt in people's minds of his supposed insanity whenever he opens his mouth to talk. He has an incredible flamboyancy and a desperate urge to be recognized, although he is obsessive with his need to be a worldwide known star to the point where he gains an 'any means necessary' mindset along with it, bordering that of sociopathy. Having a skill in seeing the funny side in almost any given situation and being the proud owner of a joyous, childish laugh, it is very rare that something can cause him to snap, but in the event that it does, all of his suppressed manic urges explode out of him like a raging inferno of chaos and insanity. While he seems to have no moral objections to killing if it is 'necessary', most of his surprisingly rather low death count is apparently all accidental, although judging by his occasional slippage into uncanny malevolence it isn't known whether this is truthful or not, and his occasional bursts of animalistic rage when things don't go his way makes it difficult to judge how stable he truly is. Joker is also extremely envious of 'rivals' trying to 'throw him out of the spotlight', notably seen with his sheer lividity and spite whenever his self proclaimed arch nemesis The Jester is mentioned.
  • Abilities:
    • Unpredictable Hand-to-Hand Combatant: While arguably possessing no actual combat skill, Joker is highly tricksy and flexible, using his trademark gag weaponry and dirty tactics in order to assault his opponents in a furious rush of confusion, his joyous laugh acting as a constant taunt and causing them to become sloppy and frustrated. Despite his surprising talent with this tactic, it is mostly stalling until he gets an opening to escape, and can rarely last long against someone skilled, powerful, or intelligent enough to counter his movements. When facing lesser opponents or not in direct hand-to-hand combat with a single foe, Joker makes it a goal to be as graceful and coordinated as possible in a manner almost like that of dancing.
    • High Intelligence: Contrasting with his foolish appearance, Joker is incredibly sophisticated and intelligent, and enjoys setting up elaborate plans and strategies in order to make the most entertaining show he can. Even though his ultimate goal is to spread a message of fun under his name, he recognizes the need for more mundane utilities such as money and weaponry, but nonetheless tries to prevent himself and his cronies from suffering through the more 'boring' aspects of the necessary jobs with a healthy sprinkling of flamboyance and insanity. However, he has a tendency to become thrown off easily when things don't go exactly his way, and so can be caught off guard with something as simple as a minor mistiming.
    • Gag Gadgets/Trick Weaponry: A collection of assorted and bizarrely high quality knickknacks of varying danger levels, including overcharged joy buzzers that act as makeshift tasers, fake pistols of different loadouts (one of which is his famous "BANG!" flag gun), gas grenades, flashbangs, pneumatically powered tripwires (usually hidden in his sleeves), low intensity explosives, deployable razor Slinkies, mini 'Drokers' (drones with a cartoonish replica of his face fitted onto their bodies) and many other miscellaneous items. Perhaps his most dangerous is his officially patentednote  Joker's Fun Gas®, which usually sends its victims into a state of intense and uncontrollable laughter, which can last up to 48 hours without treatment. He does have other varieties, such as a more potent version that simply knocks out his opponents and one that acts as a hallucinogenic/trance inducer for hypnotism tricks, but he usually sticks to the more common laughing gas. Despite that, the mixture regularly changes anyway so as to make applying antidotes more difficult, with the only consistent ingredient being the mysterious drug that Joker calls 'Smylex'.
  • Origin: Not much is known about the Joker's origin, arguably even himself, but what is known is that he has only sprung up very recently in relatively petty crimes involving his personal (or perhaps forcefully overtaken) street gang known as Cirque du Joie, formed after Joker attempted to join the Circus of Crime (and promptly left due to him being too dangerously volatile and controlling). Yet to make a proper name for themselves as of now, there have been rumours circling across the underworld that The Joker is planning a grand public opening for his troupe...

Thorn is approved.

Joker is OK and can be used like that, but it feels like it needs some Marvel elements to make it fit better. Like maybe he tried to join the Circus of Crime (but he was too psycho for them) and/or he hunts The Jester for "stealing his gimmick".

Oh, just someone to... add a little greenery?

  • Identity: The Green Goblin
  • Description: Coo-ee!
  • Personality: To outward appearance, the Goblin may seem irreverent, flighty, scatterbrained and entirely too caught up in his own gimmickry. Naturally, the Goblin is all and more of these things, but beneath that drugged-out mania lies a staggering intellect, a sprawling strategic nature, a crafty manipulative streak, and a severe sense of schadenfreude.
  • Abilities: On his own, the man behind the mask would have genius intellect, a knack for biochemistry and a skill for marksmanship. But with the bolstering of Globulin Green, the Goblin has the strength of an elephant, the speed of a greyhound, a stamina second to none, the durability to walk away from any blunt force, a healing factor to recover from the most life-threatening wounds (given time and no missing parts) and an intellect expanded to make room for electrical engineering and an active imagination. Side effects include mood swings, hallucinations, memory loss, impaired empathy, poor impulse control, megalomania, and a fascination with gimmickry and theatrics.
  • Weapons: At present, the Goblin's options and resources are limited. Chief among the gadgets he's cobbled together is a turbo fan rocket shaped like a flying broomstick, with simple controls to reduce the risk of fatal collision. Then there's the prototype pumpkin bombs carried in a satchel over his shoulder, the green clawed gloves that can discharge electricity (though the small batteries concealed in the wrists mean they can only discharge sparks so far) and the pouches on his belt containing metal shurikens shaped like black bats and silver crescent moons.
  • Background: The Green Goblin's memories are a little murky at present. He remembers a fascination for magic, the supernatural and All Hallow's Eve from an early age. He remembers a failure of a father, a professor with a thing for robotics, a sweetheart who passed away, a pesky son that was still his son, and the face of Norman Osborn, the humourless head of Oscorp Industries. One night, the man who would become the Goblin was working solo in the laboratory of Oscorp, on a private project that would be the greatest performance enhancer since the Erskine Serum. All of a sudden, a man with the face of Norman Osborn snuck up behind him and attempted to end his life. In the struggle that ensued, the man who would be Goblin had just clawed off the face of Osborn when an explosion was set off, and he was trapped in an enclosed pit of rubble, rapidly filling with green gas.
  • After some struggling to get free and call for help, and some time with a sickly sweet smell invading his nostrils, the man was struck by how funny all of this was. He laughed when he thought about his situation, and the attacker who put him in it. He laughed at the mask he'd found himself holding, which had been stretched and discoloured by the green gas. He'd laughed at all the wondrous ideas, formulas and blueprints that were spinning around in his mind like an ever-filling ballroom in fast forward. He'd danced about, kicked the rubble, collapsed on the ground, and laughed, and laughed, and laughed, and laughed, and laughed, and laughed, endlessly. Some time after he'd had a good chuckle, he found that he'd clawed his way out of a sewer, drenched in waste with a collection of papers, bottles and bits of metal under his arm. He then made his way to the junkyard, to bring all of his funny little ideas to life.
  • From a hidden hideaway hollowed out of a scrap pile, the Green Goblin got into a routine of living. In the morning, he'd work on his various gizmos. In the evening, he'd have a sniff of some home-brewed Globulin Green so the confusing painful thoughts would leave him be. With some stolen fabric and homemade dyes, he completed his clothes so he could be a proper goblin like his new face said he was. But what to do as a proper goblin? Steal gold and precious jewels? Make war with dwarves? Set up a wizard's bank? The choices seemed endless, until one day the Goblin spied a yard operative's newspaper talking about a possible corporate merger, and depicting Lex Luthor shaking hands with Norman Osborn. Instinctively, the Goblin knew something was hideously wrong with this picture, and that this Norman Osborn, who he remembered as his attacker, had stolen everything the Goblin had. Now, his goals are clear: gather power and influence, retake what was stolen from him, and make Osborn pay for his crimes. To do all that, the Green Goblin will need all the patsies help he can get.

However, while he might seem to be matured and wizened, Black Panther's still young at heart, never having the chance to settle down, and is still learning about the world of the 21st century common man.
  • Powers and Abilities: Black Panther has some abilities that could be considered metahuman, listed below:
    • Superhumanly Acute Senses: Black Panther can see in total darkness as if it was a clear sunny day, something at over a few hundred feet appears as though it is right in front of his face. Panther's sense of hearing is enhanced in a similar manner, enabling him to hear sounds that an ordinary human can't and to be able to hear sounds that an ordinary human can, but at much greater distances. Black Panther's sense of taste is sensitive to the point that he is able to taste the exact ingredients of any particular food he is eating, and he can memorize tens of thousands of scents.
    • Peak Human Strength: Black Panther's physical strength is considerably higher than the average human at his peak, able lift just under 750 lbs.
    • Peak Human Speed: Black Panther is able to run and move at speeds superior to those of any Olympic athlete. He is capable of reaching speeds of 35 mph.
    • Peak Human Stamina: Black Panther's musculature generates less fatigue toxins than the bodies of most humans. He can exert himself at peak capacity for several hours before fatigue begins to impair him.
    • Peak Human Durability: Black Panther's skin, bone, and muscles are augmented to levels that are somewhat harder and stronger than normal humans. His body is able to heal injuries that would prove lethal to ordinary humans by regenerating cells to a limited extent.
    • Peak Human Agility: Black Panther's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are also heightened to the pinnacle of human development. He is superior to any Olympic level gymnast that has ever competed.
    • Peak Human Reflexes: Black Panther's reaction time is superior to that of any Olympic athlete that has ever competed.
    • Martial Artist: Black Panther is proficient in boxing, as he is under the tutelage of Wildcat.
    • Expert Marksman: Black Panther is skilled with throwing weapons.
  • Weapons and Equipment:
    • Vibranium Knives: Black Panther keeps multiple throwing knives made from Vibranium hidden on his person.
  • Origin:
    • Heir to the ruling dynasty of the ancient kingdom of Wakanda, T'Challa was next in line to inherit the mantle of the Black Panther, a mantle that passed through every generation of Wakandan rulers. T'Challa was expected to inherit his position as his father retired, but King T'Chaka faced his untimely death at the hands of Ulysses Klaue, who desired Wakanda's vibranium reserves and attacked the nation with his band of mercenaries. The young, angry T'Challa assumed the mantle of Black Panther solely to find his father's killer, but was never successful in the endeavor.
    • Black Panther searched the world for Klaue alone, honing his skills as a survivalist and superhero. He had a temporary tussle with the Fantastic Four, fighting the family so he could train himself for the inevitable showdown with Klaue. Black Panther's transience ended when he met Wildcat, a longtime superhero and a member of the Justice League. The two became fast friends, and Wildcat introduced Black Panther to the superteam, in addition to improving Black Panther's costume.
    • Black Panther joined the Justice League as one of the newer recruits, still training under Wildcat. During a return visit to Wakanda, T'Challa established a council in Birnin Zana to rule in his stead while he managed affairs in America.

Well, if Tails Doll has risen from the grave for this shindig, guess I gotta get back in and get one of my bromances back, right?

I was tempted to go back to Apollo, but I've decided to try my hand at another Expy instead. I admit I might have stolen a couple things from Milestone Comics' Icon as well, but really just minor stuff.

  • Name: Blue Marvel

  • Real Name: Dr. Adam Bernard Brashier

  • Gender: Male

  • Age: 29

  • Appearance: As The Blue Marvel and as Adam Brashear.

  • Alignment: Good

  • Personality: Adam is a good man at heart, if a little serious. He is a scientist and a scholar first, though he isn't any stranger to violent conflict and is more than willing to get his hands dirty. If he can help it, he'd much prefer to end a conflict peaceably and through rational discussion, especially since there is often little personal risk to himself, as he is practically invulnerable. He also prefers to listen to old-school jazz and funk, though he also has a taste for Afrofunk and considers himself a multilayered scholar of the black experience.

  • Powers and Abilities: The accident that gave Adam his powers has transformed him into a stable Anti-Matter reactor, the generation and manipulation of which allows Adam his fantastic abilities, which are as follows.

    • Superhuman Strength: While Adam has yet to test the upper limits of his physical strength (or even discover if he has those), he knows he can lift in excess of 100 tons without much strain.

    • Nigh Invulnerability: Adam is capable of withstanding tremendous impact forces, exposure to temperature and pressure extremes, and powerful energy blasts without sustaining injury. He is capable of surviving in the vacuum of space unaided.

    • Flight: Adam flies by manipulation of gravitons, manipulation of magnetic fields, control of his absolute molecular movement, and utilizing his superhuman speed. Adam can easily attain escape velocity (or escape speed, which is about 34 times the speed of sound) and fly far beyond supersonic speeds, but it is not known if he can achieve speeds beyond the speed of light.

    • Enhanced Mental Perception: Unrelated to his naturally-born incredible intellect in the field of theoretical physics and Anti-matter, Adam possesses the ability to sense and comprehend things on levels that far exceed human capabilities and can perceive different sensory spectra beyond the regular norm. He has jokingly referred to himself as his own Electron Micropscope.

    • Energy Generation: Adam has the ability to generate and control negative matter energy based on antimatter and can release his energy in the form of energy blasts, including Concussive Force Bolts, Stun Bolts, and Energy Pulses.

    • Bioluminescence: Adam can emit light from his body.

    • Trained Combatant: Adam was trained in hand-to-hand combat by his military veteran father and also participated in various martial arts clubs both in and out of school at his father's behest and urge to excel.

  • Weaknesses: Neutronium, a substance from the Neutral Zone, is so far the only substance Blue Marvel has encountered that can seriously injure him or sap away his powers. He theorizes that Neutronium stops his body from continually maintaining the exotic particle reaction that gave him his powers and breaks the stable balance of Anti-matter and Matter in his body, and that prolonged exposure could outright kill him.

  • Backstory: Adam Brashear was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and from childhood, it was clear that he was a born prodigy. Pushed by a stern Marine father, angry at the world for his unimpressive military career and lack of chances to be a hero and rise up to make the world take notice of him, Adam strived to be the best in everything he could and in all forms of study, though he had a predilection for the sciences. He was a fullback at Cornell University where he met a man that he hoped would be a lifelong friend in Conner Sims, who was the son of a marine as well. Adam graduated Cornell magna cum laude with two Ph Ds, one in electrical engineering and the other in theoretical physics. From there came the event that would change Adam's life: his study of Anti-Matter.

With a grant obtained by the United States Government so that, quote, "Reed Richards couldn't have unchecked access to the Negative Zone", Adam, Conner, and their team spent years studying the Negative Zone before building a Negative Reactor that they hoped to use to build a bridge to the Negative Zone and harness Anti-Matter energy. This reactor would have been a source of unlimited clean energy by allowing devices to tap the stable event horizon balanced between the two universes. However, on the reactor's very first use, something went critically wrong. An explosion bathed Adam and Conner in mutagenic radiation from the destabilized event horizon. While Simms was seemingly killed, Brashear was turned into a living Anti-Matter reactor, an event which gave him superhuman abilities. But when Adam's father pressured him to use these powers to become a hero and make the world take notice of him, of their family, Adam finally snapped and refused his father for the first time in his life, and instead used his abilities and his heightened perception to continue his study of Anti-Matter.

It wouldn't be until Adam's younger sister Raquel, who was much more outspoken against their father and a politically active radical, tracked Adam down that he decided to change his mind. After giving Adam an earful, Raquel told him that the world needed a hero. "The world's full of heroes", Adam had said. "A hero like us," she retorted. She also made some... racially charged comparisons to Superman before going back to her original point. That the world, their world, needed something to believe in. Someone to believe in, to draw hope and inspiration from. So Adam put together a costume. Initially, he was going to wear a helmet, but Raquel had been against it, pointing out that hiding his skin color would just defeat the entire purpose. And so, Blue Marvel was born
