This time, the DC super villains are the protagonists when the Justice League vanishes and the Crime Syndicate appears in their place! It's slated to come out on October 16, 2018.
Here's the official website and the announcement trailer:
So any hope for lesser-known villains? I for one would love to see Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man and Dark Opal.
I wouldn't be surprised. My brother and I are going through Lego Marvel Superheroes 2, and that had A LOT of obscure, one-issue-only characters. So, I don't even have expectations. I'll just let the game surprise me.
I'm going to make a wild guess and say SNOWFLAME (though with an E10+ rating they'd have to make some changes)
Now I'm hoping for other obscure choices like the Nuclear Family or Egg-Fu. Or how about Gird? I liked his surprise appearance in Injustice 2.
It looks like Grid is part of the Crime Syndicate, judging by the colors and missing eye on Cyborg's equivalent in one of the screenshots of this game.

Gameplay Demo. Unfortunately, it ends before the cutscene that introduces the Syndicate.
I'm excited! This thing is crazy! Though, I don't know how there can be a plot if the villains win. Prehaps the next game will begin at the end of this one.
I wanna ask real quick; Does Traveller's Tales take requests for these kind of games? And if so, how do they take 'em?
Companies generally will not even look at ideas from fans, because if they do, and end up using ideas, those fans would be entitled to compensation, since it would be their intellectual property.
General "the fans have expressed [x, y, z]" ideas are a little different in that regard, because they're not an actual suggestion. Just community feedback to make a better product.
I think it helps that it seems like this game's story will be the villains teaming up against even more dangerous villains in the Syndicate.
Maybe the Justice League at the end will reward Lex, Joker, Grodd, etc. with a five minute headstart.
More likely your success in gameplay is not tied to your success in story. You can still beat the final boss and get arrested in the last cutscene.
I think a good E10+ change for Snowflame would be for him to be addicted to sugar or caffeine instead.
I'd rather we not get a character that's a single-appearance unfunny meme, personally.
I mean would you rather have Isaac Crowe from Batman Fortunate Son?
I think I was clear about what I would rather have.

does anyone know the name of the song in the sdcc trailer ?
Honestly my biggest hope for this game is that lesser-known DC villains get put into the roster. Like how about The Gas Gang? Or Green Gargoyle? Or the rest of the Forgotten Villians now that we know Enchantress is in? Or Dark Opal? Or Doc Dread? Or maybe even Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man? Now him I would love to see.
Or how about The Lobster?
I mean, it'll probably follow the pattern of all recent Lego games, and include a good handful of obscure characters, but I wouldn't expect the moon or anything. Like, expect some Detective Chimp-tier characters, but no lower.

We have some more gameplay.
Also Ch'p is confirmed to be in the game.
EDIT: Oh, apparently it's not Ch'p. It's B'dg.

You can spot Ra's al Ghul in the story trailer. Pleasantly surprised by the appearance of Chang-Tzu as well. I'm not sure why Granny Goodness is a bigfig, though. She's kind of stocky, but that buff?
I looked at the newest character grid, and it seems like Killer Moth will NOT be in this game. I'm not that sad about it since he was in the previous Lego Batman games, but I figured he'd be a shoe-in.
I hope we get some of the villains seen in The Lego Batman Movie. I always thought it was a waste that The Lego Movie and Lego Ninjago got proper video games, but Batman only got some forgettable content in Lego Dimensions. The movie's character list BEGGED for a full game.
A look at the boss fight against Solovar.
