Wulfrik, Seafang

-Wulfrik looks down. Barry is already attacking the giant, no need to pull him away. He howls, and the Seafang's prow snarls in response, tilting the longship up. The rowers pull harder, and the longship moves in a long circle around the construct, with mages, iron beasts and marauders strafing it without mercy.-

Up here you ugly lump of useless forge-slag! Or are you too stupid to look up? Have the rocks that served you for brains worn away with time and disuse!?

Near Akibahara Portal

Riding in the carriage was none other than the Fuhrer’s son, Selim Bradley. He looked off at the scenery of Akibahara in the horizon with childlike wonder, eager to explore the strange new land that had appeared before them. He waved hello to his dad with glee.

“Hi papa! Hope you don’t mind if I tag along, but I couldn’t just stay home when there’s so much cool stuff out here! I bet they’ve got their own type of alchemy we’ve never even heard of before!”

The youngster turns to Siluca’s knights and Alan.

“I’m Selim, the Fuhrer’s son. Nice to meet you guys!”

Only the most hardened of hearts could withstand a smile from this adorable little tyke.

Destoroyah

“Am I not enough woman for you already, Barry? Tsk tsk, I might have to destroy you if you keep this up.”

That was what Dessy called a “joke”. She had a dry sense of humor where it was hard to tell if she was joking about wanting to kill you, or she actually did. But Barry knew her well enough that he’d be able to tell this was the former.

“Looks like it’s time for Round 2.”

While Barry attacked the monster’s face, Dessy fired off a beam at one of it’s legs.

Kaibadome

“I’m Mokuba! What’s your name?”

Akihabaran Portal - Fuhrer and his Entourage

"Selim..." with just one look to the driver, the man at the steering wheels folded and shake his head rigorously. The Fuhrer's son were always known to be a little rascal and sneak away at times, but to hitch a ride and follow his father in unknown territory...

His retinue, likewise, were equally surprised, halfway-between scrambling about to the carriage before the Fuhrer raises his hand, silently commanding them to halt.

"You did not worry your mother, did you?" he began with a slightly stern voice... before breaking into a smile. "I suppose that's what makes you my son, haha. Unfortunately, papa's on very important business. I certainly didn't expect to introduce my family this soon, but the cat's out of the bag."

Near Akihabara Portal: "I Immediately Regret This Decision"

Führer?!

Wake tucked his free hand in his pocket so he could drive his thumb nail into his finger; it was the best thing he could do to distract himself from an immediate reaction to the title. Sure, he had a hint of disdain for the historical parallel, but more than anything else Scratch felt an intense urge to start laughing.

The title, the culture-defining military, the uniform's fashion era, the car, the goddamn mustache and eye patch. Bradley put on a good face, but it was too goddamn easy to peg him as the villain of this story. Whoever came up with whatever plot that spawned him must not have been a huge fan of subtlety. Christ, Scratch almost felt sorry for the old man! To have all the work he put into a warm first impression get spoiled by his own admission—and to not have the tiniest clue that the cat was already out of the bag!

Still, Wake accepted the invitation. He wasn't about to walk away from an opportunity like this; setting aside whatever feathers this chance encounter might add to his cap, it all seemed too much fun! The high of knowing the opponent's arc light years before they know yours...it was just too damn delicious!

"If you ask me, Führer Bradley, Gotham's coffee can't be beat. But I know a few tea shops in, ahem: Akihabara—" Wake took his time pronouncing the name, since he had a bad habit of purposefully saying it wrong, "that aren't half bad."

It was then that the car's pint-sized passenger popped into view, waving everyone present a big friendly hello. Wake gave the boy a friendly greeting back, and buried his annoyance where no one but he would spot it. Scratch didn't like kids on their best days, and a grade-schooler in the audience would unquestionably fuck up his delegation tactics...not to mention cripple his vocabulary.

"Well, then. Looks like we'll have to visit the one that sells lots of sweets!" Wake smiled with a light-hearted laugh. King wasn't the only one who could play sweet and friendly.

Hopping into the ancientnote  vehicle, the Chief Adviser sat opposite the father and son, on the side closest to the driver. It was shady in the hybrid stagecoach/motor vehicle, which made Scratch feel even more in his element.

"So before we get going, Sir, I ought to share some basics about this crazy rock we all call home. Forgive me if this is all rudimentary or common knowledge; I'd rather say things your civilians already know than have their minds blown when they walk through that portal."

The Chief Adviser paused, judged that he might've already misstepped, then turned to Selim with a titter. "That's a figure of speech, little guy; means 'learning the truth really fast, and not knowing how to deal with it.' Nobody's heads pop off when they go through that thing."

Great. He was already sounding like an idiot. Goddamn kid was throwing him off his game!

"So this planet is called The Frontiers, and the first crazy-but-true thing you need to know isn't about this planet, but yours. The planet you came from isn't the only one that supports life, but that's pretty obvious by now. Look at where we are! But what might not be obvious is that it's not just different planets that support life—different dimensions do as well."

Another pause, but this time it might be clear that Wake was devising a way to explain himself...at least to the younger member of his audience. He couldn't rely on things like the Theory of Relativity to explain it, since he couldn't assume Amestris had an Einstein equivalent and Scratch didn't have a fucking clue how the theory worked anyway. So instead, he elected to hold out a hand as part of a demonstration.

"You no doubt know about the three dimensions we humans can detect: length, width, and depth. Simple shapes like circles and triangles are called two-dimensional because they only take up length and width, but my hand here is three-dimensional, because it also takes up depth. Now what you might not know is that there's a very special kind of dimension that we can't perceive, and that dimension doesn't deal with distances like length width and depth do—it deals with realities: the way the world exists, and all the rocks and rivers and plants and animals that follow the rules of that world. And the rules of these different worlds can be as similar or as different as you can imagine!"

For this part, Wake set his coffee cup securely down on the floor and gestured to the vehicle around them.

"I'm not from Gotham's world, but Gotham's reality and my own have invented motor vehicles, just like Amestris' world has. However, something like this has been obsolete—sorry, 'really old, and no longer useful'—for about seventy or eighty years, now. The same goes for your style of clothing, and while this pocket watch I'm sporting works just fine, I mostly wear it for the look. There's more convenient ways for people in my neck of the woods to check the time."

The Chief Adviser raised a finger, serving as a silent "however!" to begin observing the other side of the coin.

"You mentioned alchemy earlier, right little guy? Turning lead into gold? The Philosopher's Stone? Nicholas Flamel and Alistair Crowley? We don't have any of that back where I'm from. Well, we have it in a historical sense, I guess, but the practice of alchemy isn't a thing—just a superstitious practice from about a thousand years back, full of empty promises that were blown far out of proportions.

"But that's only because the rules of my world—my reality—didn't allow alchemy to actually work. See what I'm talking about? What failed on my world succeeded in yours, and that's just comparing two realities with one rule. This entire planet's full of different people from different realities and different walks of life. And where one form of 'magic' might fail..."

Wake twisted to hide his hands for a minute before bringing them back into view for Selim to see.

"Another might thrive."

In the blink of an eye, Alan Wake performed the impossible: he pulled off the tip of his finger!

Near the Seafang

"Ohohohoho, as if." Naga laughed for a good couple of seconds at that.

"You know..." She thought out loud in Wulfrik's direction. "If your crew has rocks for brains, you can never go wrong with a golem...."

The big lug of a machine had its head YOINKED to the side and downwards when Barry swung on it with his harpoon. A few moments later, a raging hot energy beam tore through the landscape, leaving a newly-excavated canal for hundreds of meters along the countryside in its wake, one wide enough to drive a car through once it cooled down. And, of course, there was still the angry machine that was likely none too pleased about having its shot ruined by outside interference.

Without much warning, it flexed its shoulders briefly, causing a trio of fireballs to fly off of its back, charging ahead through the air like missiles. One fireball started scorching a path in the air towards Barry, while another shot up towards the Seafang, and the third flying off at something that it seemed to have zeroed in on.

Not one to slouch, though, and let the missiles do all the work, the machine reared up on its legs, arms bent at an angle like it was bracing for something. That something seemed to be the jets on its back whirring to life, as one moment it was standing there in the grass (or more accurately, the dead grass), and the next moment it was flying straight up in the air, having propelled itself up with enough force to gain a few hundred meters of height in the blink of an eye.

One thing was clear - you probably didn't want to be what it landed on.

Akihabara Bay

M16 hopped onto the other hull on the opposite side and took up sentry duty, since Eugen could work well enough as a mouthpiece for now, so she could keep her eye on the horizon. Not that she expected trouble, but there was no sense in risking it, after all.

"Ha, you have no need to concern yourself, my care and mercy will be absolute - vere I to try something untoward with you, I vould be vorried about my safety. You are not exactly a distressed damsel who vould allow a miscreant to take advantage of your trust, after all. That and, vell, it vould ruin ze mood, no?" Eugen stated with a wink as she sailed out over the water, getting a good view of the bay.

"Ah, look, it is ze fischerkatzen." She waved at a passing fishing boat, where several cats (not cat-people, cats) with diving gear, harpoon guns, and nets were walking along the deck, managing their catches. One of them briefly waved back before returning to its responsibilities.

"As for ze singing and ze humming...." She put a finger to her chin, just under her lower lip as she thought for a long moment. "You are not ze only one capable of observing, herr doktor, and that is how I am certain that you are your harshest critic. You are ze type of voman who demands such perfection in everything she does, that you could sing vith ze voice of an angel, and flog yourself for not having ze tongue of a god. I vouldn't be so harsh on your tongue, don't you think?"

Mystique—Time skip

Mystique did a lot of cool thing during the 10 years that you will never know. Being mysterious is part of her charm after all.

Naga the serpent—Akihabara portal”

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh!!!!” A strenuous laughter would be heard to the sorrow of everyone’s ears.

The great and powerful Naga the serpent shows up, after a poof of smoke.

“Did someone say Alchemy?” Her eyes brighten as a wide grin is draw in her face. That means the power to turn rocks and stuff into gold!!”

She crosses her arms with a huge grin in her face.

“Now that is interesting. Who cares if his name is Fuhrer or Juanita, what matters if that land of his is rich in places to explore, has an abundance of places to eat... and gold for one to take.”

The only thing odd about Naga would be that Mr Scratch would get a, blink and you miss it, wink from her. Because... well that would be telling.

Club Murciélago —10 years and one day ago.

As the party went on the club now started to play normal music

Chun Li’s beauty didn’t go unrecognized as several men, and even some women couldn’t stop staring at her. Of course everyone did their best to hide it, and look elsewhere the instant Chun Li might notice.

Of the few brave men that dared to try to ask Chun Li to dance, they all went to sit down, or run, once they noticed that among their rivals in courting the Chinese beauty was none other than Mario Falcone.

...Save for a brave and equally young man. Who stood up and also approached Chun Li. He had the exact name and apereance as one Zhongli, but that was of course, just a coincidence. He was just a regular guy.

The only thing in common these two men had is that both were roughly Chun Li’s age. And both were as handsome. Very.

“May I have this dance with you, “ said Zhongli.

“I saw her first pal. You don’t want to get hurt,” Mario Falcone said.

“ That is for the lady to decide,” said Zhongli.

Near Akihabaran Portal - Theldesian/Siluca Envoys

“Not a monarchy?” repeated Rayne as she glanced to her fellow guild member.

The two knights attention fully turned to the portal itself once three cars emerged from it. After hearing the go-ahead from King Bradley and seeing as he was now inviting Mr. Wake into one of the cars, the knights saw this as their cue to get moving.

“Right sir, we’ll be on our way,” said Rayne, before then calling out to the trucks behind her, “Everyone, let’s get moving!”

As they started to move, the two nights then turned to the Fuhrer’s son once they heard him address them.

“It’s nice to meet you too Selim,” replied the ponytailed woman.

“Nice to meet ya,” said Carlos the short mage. “We’ve got a shipment to deliver so we can’t really stay and chat. But there’ll be some nice people from the embassy coming here pretty shortly. Anyway take care kid.”

Once there was an opportunity to get through, the Theldesian convoy circled around the Amestris platoon and vehicles and headed through the portal, with the lead knights boarding their trucks.

After some time had passed, a few more Theldesian troops, led by a uniformed woman with dyed magenta twintails, freckles, an officer-like cap, and a backpack.

“Hi everyone!” the woman waved enthusiastically. “I’m Kova Eschewerz, and we’re from the Theldesian Embassy stationed here in Akihabara.”

She looked around awkwardly for a moment, before realizing King Bradley seemed to be in a deep conversation with the mayoral advisor from Gotham. The twintailed envoy watched for a bit without really hearing what they were talking about, though seeing as she’d probably be waiting a while, she pulled out a bulky smartphone (either from her uniform or backpack) and started pressing on it.

“Might as well see if her majesty is busy or not.”

“Looks like these people really are from a whole new nation,” whispered one of the people with Ms. Eschewerz.

“Yup,” remarked Kova. “It really has been a while since this portal opened up anywhere new.”

“Oh hey it’s Naga,” Kova idly remarked upon seeing Naga. She didn’t really say anything beyond that or try to get “Naga’s” attention, mostly focused on her call to get in touch with Siluca while keeping an eye for an opening to talk with King Bradley or any other representatives stepping forward.

Wulfrik, Seafang

A soulless creature of stone and metal, that cannot-

-The rest of Wulfrik's diatribe is lost as the fireball strikes the longship's stern. Though mitigated by the protective enchantments cast by the elf wizard coven, the prow still screeches in outrage and immediately turns towards the construct, loosening the rope holding up the Chopper. Wulfrik curses as the deck sways beneath his feet.-

Put out the fire! Hurry!

-As crewmen hurry to put out the blaze, Wulfrik turns to the giant who attacks him. Grabbing a rope in his hand, he gets ready to jump and teach it the fatal error of its ways.-

Reiko, Akihabara Park

An event that was ultimately very rare in her life, and now even more so after all that...something that not even her previous employers, nor the closest things she considered to allies in the Tekka Ascendancy, had once seen...Reiko, after everything that's happened to her in this unknowable world of the Frontier, smiled for once.

"...Yes."

"Thanks for doing something."

Her thoughts on the topic of death and machine life weren't heartening, or even comfortable. That at least one of her plans, executed slowly over the past decade, hadn't gone to waste was enough to make her happy for the first time in a long time. Besides petting her cats. That always made her happy even if she never smiled.

Reiko ignored the held up hand, and simply drew her hood back over her face. "I'm ready. Take me there."

Yue - Akihabara park

"Well. It's almost always better than doing nothing."

Shrugging slightly as her (admitedly somewhat dramatic) gesture was rebuffed, Yue just reached over and rested a hand on Reiko's shoulder, her other tucking the folder-full of evidence into her shoulder bag. After taking a moment to send her sentry fairies back to the formless plane from whence they came, the magus flicked her hand out to one side and snapped her fingers.

"Habeo convivae."

With a subtle glimmer of purple light, a magic circle appeared under the duo's feet, and they were swallowed up by a sphere of arcane geometry and carried away from the quaint akihabara park.

Yue's Laboratory

Once the lightshow faded, Reiko would find herself standing on what could only be described as a landing pad - a smooth round surface, green tiles and white masonry, with a black wrought iron railing around it. Ahead of her, Yue was already walking along a short causeway towards a squat stone tower with an iron-and-glass dome. A glance down would show the base of the tower sitting on a rocky outcrop in the middle of a calm lake. A glance up and around would show a bright blue sky, a distant shoreline of green hills, and the glint of what looked like glass surrounding the whole structure, as if the tower was sitting at the bottom of a great round bottle.

Yue opened a door ahead, through which a cluttered, but airy space could be seen, filled with couches, bookshelves and greenery-filled planters.

"Take a seat. I'll make us some tea, and we can get down to business."

Nightingale - Akihabaran Waterfront

"No. You would like whatever I do." reaching upon that conclusion herself, the head nurse pushes away all thoughts at the moment as she tries to remember the lyrics to this song that she hears so often...

And sang, she did. She hadn't imagined herself doing something as pointless as this today, yet here she was.

It was... hmm, not exactly refreshing or reinvigorating. It felt... new. Odd, but not in a bad way. Yes, that's probably the right word for it.

"... Odd song to be in season, personally."

No sooner had she finished the song and said that that a literal white whale rose up from the ocean before flipping its fin near the botegirl, cause why not?

Barry - Seafang Titan Rumble

"The heck you're saying, Des?! 'Course yer special ta me, the feelings mutual, gyahaha- Whoops!"

Good news, the living automail avoided the fireball by ducking low. Bad news, said fireball now caught the rope above him on fire and with the rope loosening grip, Barry found himself unceremoniously dropped onto the pile of rubbles on the ground.

"Ow! Ow! Owww!"

Good thing fall damage ain't a concern for him, with his mechanical body!... Though now he's gotta wonder how to get back on the ship. After the big scrap of metal is dealt with, of course!

Daud - Hamlet in Fantasia

Having finished eking out a simple wage and living for the day, 'Eric' chose to ignored the sound of disturbance coming some distances away with his sharp senses; it's none of his business as an ordinary civilian, and quite frankly, he's content to let it be that way.

Scowling at the old busybody gossiping grandmas and housewives that almost seems to make it their job to pester anyone and everyone in the village, the man retired back to his cabin; unbeknownst that he might potentially be dragged into something beyond his own design soon...

King Bradley - Akihabaran Portal (Carriage)

The Fuhrer listened patiently to Mr. Scratch's words, taking in every word he spoke. If there was to be a reaction to whatever terms is being spoken, he certainly didn't show it.

Only when he's done did the Fuhrer continue, his countenance subtly turning contemplative. "You're an astute man, Wake. One with the flair for theatrics, it seems." he bemused.

"There had been theorems regarding parallel dimensions conducted in our research institute and academy, but it is merely that: a theory. Until now." he adjusted his seat. "You're right about this. Our reality functions with alchemy as our fundamental truth. Most nearly every breakthrough Amestris has ever gone through is through this well-established and studied arts and it has been so since the inception of our very state."

"That other intangible truths that you mentioned, however, is what intrigued me. I've heard talk that our alchemy has been equaled to 'magic' by the natives, which I would've normally taken as superstitious nonsense." the Fuhrer scoffed. "But after seeing proofs to the contrary, I'm forced to have come to accept that. Your affirmations only solidify that."

Before the Fuhrer continued further, his driver coughed and direct his attention to the Theldesian envoys that have arrived. "A moment." Opening up the window, the leader of the nation greeted with a confident smile. "I heard you loud and clear, Miss Eschewerz. If you could direct us and our vehicle to an embassy where we can discuss matters further about our two nations, I would be very pleased."

When 'Naga' makes her presence known however, the soldiers about blocked her path from approaching any closer to the carriage the Fuhrer was in. Considering how she'd suddenly appeared and acted, this was to be expected.

"... Someone you're acquainted with, Mr. Wake?" there's a subtle edge to the Fuhrer's voice now, suspicion and... indignation? And you're not sure why, 'Naga', but you can absolutely feel as if the eye-patched man notices your signal towards Alan Wake. Your subtle cues.

Almost as if the man's far more perceptible than he lets on.

Selim, Akibaharan Portal

"Oh, bye Carlos!"

Though he didn't really show it, Selim was slightly annoyed at how patronizing Mr. Wake was being. Granted, this was perhaps natural considering his ingenue appearance. Still, he prided himself on being sharper than most people his age, and was certainly able to understand metaphor.

"Don't worry mister, I know what you mean. They teach you a lot in school these days, you know."

As Wake explained that alchemy didn't truly exist in his world, and that outright 'magic' might exist in others, Selim pondered what exactly this might mean in the grand scheme of things. One thing was certain - the convergence of all these disparate worlds meant there were going to be a lot of unexpected continuities, and he didn't really like the sound of that.

"We consider alchemy a science, not magic. There's all sorts of rules to it, like... you can't create matter out of nothing. It can only be taken and reformed into something else. Though I guess with all the amazing stuff it can do, it is sort of like it's own form of magic, huh? Also, turning lead into gold is illegal. If someone says they've been doing that, you should definitely report them!"

He glanced over at Naga, wondering what this strange woman's deal was. Like his father, he had some... suspicions about her.

Outside Akihabara Portal: Four Actors, and Only One of Them is Having Fun!

Wake withdrew his little magic trick with a modest flex of his fingers into fists. Bit of a tough crowd, though his shift away from teacher/birthday magician brought about a stable, more certain tone in his voice. Even an idiot could recognize that he was trying too hard to boil things down for the tike in the audience, and he greedily seized the invitation to pump the brakes.

To the bemused comment about his theatrics, Wake gave the Führer a small nod in thanks. "I may be an adviser, Sir, but I'm not afraid to be the center of attention. In the right situations, anyway."

The Führer was intrigued in how the "magic" of other worlds worked? That was about as predictable as the sun rising in the East. Though if alchemy was a fundamental truth to Amestris (and Wake could see no reason why King Bradley would lie about that now) then this could be a terribly delicate situation. If he—no, everyone who met the Amestrian military—weren't careful, then the Führer might just acquire what his namesake failed to possess: nuclear weapons.

Christ. Wouldn't THAT be a shit show.

Bradley's request to send the coach to the Theldesian Embassy went without protest, but some sharp eyes in the car might note that the Mayor's Adviser seemed a tiny bit deflated; no doubt as an unconscious reaction against what he wanted. Direct talks with an ambassador to an empire would take priority over talks with a mayor's right hand man. They'd no doubt want to talk behind closed doors, which meant Wake (and subsequently Gotham) would be at a disadvantage when their turn came to talk trade; Wake could take all sorts of guesses, but the fact remained that he knew very little about Theldesia or Melkia, or what they had to offer. He'd have to contact his people in Euro-Brittania and the Concordia Union, and that'd only pique their interest, and then they'd want a slice of this pie. Unless the Theldesians were feeling unceremoniously generous, Wake's chances to learn about the capabilities of an untouched Nazi Germany with arcane magic Amestris were running out.

It was here that Selim of all people came to prove most useful. Good to know that there were some strong limitations to what alchemy could and could not do, but it wasn't enough to prevent a crafty dealer from exploiting it.

"Sounds like you're quite the model student, Master Bradley!" Wake smiled at the report. Despite having given up the compulsion to explain every tricky word to Selim, it seemed that the Chief Adviser had only leaned into the patronizing.

And then along came yet another wrench thrown into the gears. "Naga" the White Serpent appeared in all her ham-fisted pageantry, which was followed with a fully-expected perimeter established around the vehicle.

Wake almost missed the subtle wink shot in his direction, which forced an involuntary glance at the Führer when the older man accused him of being some sort of accomplice. The look was almost as swift as the wink, but that was more than King needed: Wake was surprised that little signal was caught by anyone but him.

"'Old' is putting it mildly, Sir." Wake chuckled genuinely; after all, it was true in more than one sense. "Naga was part of the Travers campaign when the Mayor first ran for office—that was about ten years ago. Couldn't really tell you why she helped out; she didn't stick around to do much after we won the election. Maybe she enjoyed working for an underdog, or maybe she left when she realized that honest government doesn't come with the 'special perks' she expected. Whatever the case, she left town and hasn't made waves in Gotham since."

Here, Wake made the deliberate move of scooching to the right side of his seat and leaning an elbow along the doornote . The way he rested a cheek on his hand would be clear to both King and "Naga" that Wake had no intention of having the people outside read his lips.

"Nothing but a bottom-feeder if you ask me. She says 'alchemy' is what piqued her interest, but it's the word 'gold' that got her running here like a dog eager for a treat. An absolute flirt, too—she's not afraid to flaunt her assets to get what she wants, not that you need me to tell you that."

The secret message relayed, Wake sat straight back up again—only to spot Selim getting a little too curious at the three-fourths naked lady outside the car.

"To use a phrase from my world: viewer discretion is advised."

If the historical parallels continued to ring true, Naga's choice in fashion would've been enough to make Amestrian women faint on sight and all but the boldest, sleaziest, and most nubile men to denounce her a harlot or a succubus. Fortunately, this Paragon of Paternity would have his good eye closest to his innocent son, and could easily spot little Selim's curiosity threaten to show him what could not be unseen!

Akihabaran Portal -> Log Horizon District

“Right on sir!” the twintailed woman replied with enthusiasm, before turning to the others with her. “Alright, let’s lead them to our embassy!”

Kova Eschewerz and the other troops with her would lead whoever wanted to go towards the Theldesian Embassy, during which Kova took some time to type and speak on her phone.

After a trek of about 2-3 blocks northeast, the group would see a wall of brick, stone and metal snaking alongside buildings and through roads. While perhaps a dozen feet or so high, they weren’t intimidatingly high enough so as to deter people from climbing them, as they served more of a demarcation for which parts of Akihabara were part of Theldesia.

The group going with the Theldesian envoys would be led to a road which led into this wall-demarcated section of the city blocked primarily by a pair of lever/toll-like gates. A few guards, stationed outside and behind glass booths built into the buildings flanking the road, along with a few cameras kept watch over this main entrance. One guard outside and one guard inside were taking pictures of the entourage with a tablet-phone. A sign mounted on the wall to the right of this roadway would read “Welcome to Theldesia! You are entering the Log Horizon Distict of Akihabara.” Upon getting close to the booth and entrance to the district, people would be able to see a pair of sliding pull-by-handle metal gates currently retracted in gaps between the district walls and the booth-buildings.

Kova would approach the booth and wave, pulling out an ID card to display to and have scanned by the people in the booth. “Hi, I’m back! These are the people from the newly-contacted nation of Amestris, and also the mayor’s advisor from Gotham.”

The other troops would also step forward to provide their identification.

The guards in the booth handed Kova and her escorts clipboards, paper, and pens/pencils.

Kova turned around and approached King Bradley’s car, “By the way if you wouldn’t mind, could you all fill out these forms for us? It’s just so we can keep track of who goes in and out of this district.” She turned towards Alan Wake, “If you also have business with Theldesia, Mr. Wake, you’re welcome to come with. Though we can schedule a conference later if you’ve got other things planned today.”

The forms would primarily ask for one’s name, country/city of residence, official/noble rank if applicable, and current time (optional). There were multiple instances of these entries on each page so it could be filled out for multiple people.

Kova and her escorts would go around handing these forms to everyone planning to head to the embassy.

One of the outside guards from the checkpoint would take a step forward and ask, “Mind if we check what’s in the back of those vehicles?” If granted permission, they would motion for one of the others to help them inspect the vehicles, though they’d take note and give a suspecting look if permission was denied.

The people near the checkpoint would be able to see a good deal into the district. The district as a whole was likely quieter and emptier compared to the rest of Akihabara. A few shops and restaurants could be seen on the ground floors the the multi-story buildings lining the main street. There were a few posters advertising concerts and competitive events hosted by the infamous Theldesian “Comet Girls” organization, with the titular Comet Girls sporting a number of showy and glamorous getups.

After a turn left/north about a block or two ahead, the embassy could be seen, a 4-5 story building made with fanciful stonework with a number of flags hanging on front. Though a bit harder to see, a circular driveway could be seen leading in. The embassy was a bit more modest from what one would expect from a state that called itself an Empire, though it was probably a suitable size given the number of polities that seemed to inhabit the Frontiers and the inconvenience of the checkpoint.

The people at the checkpoint would also be able to see coastline, piers, and ships in the sea/strait far down the road ahead (east).

Near the Seafang

With Wulfrik posturing and getting his rope, the Ruin Grader started hold out its massive arms. Out and out, it looked like it was trying to get ready for a nice big bear hug.

Then when its arms were all nice and outstretched, it didn't look like it wanted a hug at all.

It seemed, rather, like it was trying to clap Wulfrik like he might swat at a fly.

Akihabara Bay

"I take it back," Eugen said after a moment of deep thought. "Even you and your perfectionist tendencies would have to admit that you indeed possess ze tongue of a goddess."

She glanced at the whale, slowly grinning.

"I do not think he knows the meaning of that song.... Thankfully, we are not brutes looking to do anything more to whales than to look at them, so it is his lucky day, no?"

Sighing lightly as she looked over the whale, off into the horizon, her grin started to fade a bit, straightening out as she kept looking.

"You ever ask what are we doing here? You and I, our origins may not be the same, but here we are, in the same place and both with the same things binding us. We both serve masters- even if yours is more... literal... than mine. But you were free, once. You are a proud woman, you should not serve anyone. You aren't a machine like me, built as a slave to be a dog of war in a hopeless cause against an unending foe. I never had a life where I was truly free. I only knew the work. You know your reason, your passion, you work towards it every day. You work at it so hard I had to spend a decade to get you to even think of yourself for a moment, so strong is your will."

She paused a moment, inhaling slightly and leaning in, speaking softly.

"How did you do it? How did you find purpose?"

Naga the serpent— Akihabara portal

“Yes, it is me! Your eyes don’t deceive you. Your hopes didn’t come unanswered. I am the great and powerful sorceress, Naga,” Naga the serpent says with a wide smile after overhearing Kova.

After king Bradley send his guards to obstruct Naga, she of course was startled, waving her hands side to side.

For a second she opened her eyes in surprise. By the way, she stared at their weapons It seemed like she was scared by the guards and their weapons. In reality what really scared was how easily King Bradley had caught what was meant to be a subtle clue of her identity to Mr. Scratch.

“Hey, no need to be rude. I don’t blame for feeling wary about a sorceress as renowned and powerful as me.” She took a deep breath... and then gave that laugh famous of hers.

“Ohohohohohohoh!”

Outside she was laughing as if she had no worry in the world. Like the real Naga.Inside it was a completely different story. Of course, when dealing with someone smart as King Bradley was, her only choice was to play dumb.

“I assure you my only taste is for adventure and treasure,” she would reply to King Bradley.

Naga would glance in Selim’s direction. His remark about gold drew a wide smile on her face.

“So it is possible! ... I mean of course.”

After a brief pause she would say, in a fake whisper tone that was actually perfectly audible,” she would say. “ What about turning coal into diamonds, or iron into silver. That’s kosher, right?”

After Alan Wake introduced her, she added.

“It’s true. A sorceress of my caliber is always drawn by treasure, and adventure, and peril. Politics can hardly take my attention for long.”

She shrugs.” Alan Wake, however? He is too smart for his own good. I know that wherever he goes, opportunity is not too far behind.”

Naga smirks at Alan. “We do have an interesting shared history, eh? Besides politics we got a lot of fun together. And I am sure “The Fuhrer, wouldn’t mind a great sorceress like me to simply wander around as your partner.” —- You do your usual thing with your silver tongue and make that mayor of yours happy; I explore new places and claim new treasures. Everybody wins.” She shrugs with a smirk. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Wanna team up, and split the treasure, Alan? 90% for me and 10 % for you. Sounds fair right?”

She turns to King Bradley and winks at him.

“And who knows if you let me explore your lands , I will make it worth your time.”

Naga pushed her chest out to accentuate the other thing most noticeable about her besides her laugh. In fact she winked at him just before looking at her chest.

“It’s not every day you get to meet a lady as well endowed and beautiful as me. Uh?”

Akihabara Portal: Alan Wake is a Powerful Warding Wizard

"Naga's" tone-deaf insistence that she was more than welcome to this conversation made Wake's skin almost literally crawl. The shameless eavesdropping, shameless gold-hunting, the shameless...shamelessness. He could almost bring himself to appreciate someone being so comfortable with themselves, but it wasn't like Naga was really being "herself," here.

You're having WAY too much fun with this, Ray...

Christ, what a way to jab at a friend: find a delicate diplomatic scene, stroll in like a bachelor party stripper, and tell the foreign party that your BFF's a two-faced bastard who loves nothing more than striking deals that favored him. It's not like he'd ever blow Mystique's cover, either; no, that'd be a damn friendship-breaker! So all Alan could do was sit cross-legged as color flushed to his cheeks at the implications of that 'fun' the White Serpent mentioned.

Thanks, Raven.

Course, once "Naga" decided to lean into (in more ways than one) the suggestive nature of her tactics, even Mr. Scratch felt genuinely compelled to shield the display from underage eyes—assuming the Führer didn't already have that job covered.

Wake moved to exit the car, in part to shield Naga's window side view from the pint-sized passenger. "You have a date with the Theldesian Embassy, and no matter which way you cut it I have no seat at that table. It's probably best we resume our discussion later, Führer. In the meantime, I would appreciate a chance to visit Amestris. Can't deny that this alchemy study's piqued my interest; with your permission, I'd love to speak with an expert."

Assuming the Führer granted Wake's request, the Chief Adviser would reach into his inner coat pocket, retrieve a small metal case, and produce a business card for the leader of Amestris.

"You don't need to worry about most of that information right now—I suspect Gotham's tech is more advanced in more than a few fields, communication included. The ten-digit code might be a bit more familiar, assuming Amestris' world has telephones. If you need anything from me, the Mayor, or Gotham, just give me a call."

As an afterthought no doubt sprung from a comment or protest from the sorceress outside the car, Wake winced, took a deep breath, and promised the Führer that he'd "let her down easy." Once out of the car, Wake turned to the departing vehicle with a confident smile.

"Till we meet again, Führer..."

The Chief Adviser clicked his heels at attention and gave King Bradley a proud salute—one that lingered a beat too long with his right arm stretched in an upward slant.

With Bradley on his way to the Theldesian Embassy, all that was left was to wait for his escort to an expert on alchemy.

...oh, and to deal with Naga.

"So, quick question..." Wake began in a pseudo-nonchalant tone. "On what planet did you think that behavior would get you anywhere? Y'know they're probably going to banish you for life after that stupid stunt, right? These aren't a band of feudal fiefdoms y'know—it's a highly-organized military. That means chains of command, clean-cut regulations, and widespread coverage.

"It also means there's no chance in hell you're going to go unnoticed; I mean Jesus Christ, have you looked in the mirror? Take one step into Amestris and there's bound to be wanted posters for 'Naga, the Thieving Harlot' across half the kingdom. You've utterly fucked yourself over, but worse than that—you nearly took me down along with you. And if there's one thing I can't stand, it's an air-headed egomaniac who can't figure out when they're not wanted!

"But before you start crying that I'm a cold and heartless bastard, just know that I'm willing to have the buck stop here. Cody doesn't have to know how close you brought Gotham to losing a new ally; I haven't forgotten that you stood with the Mayor when he needed friends the most, so you've earned that bit of slack. But it comes with a condition: I'm going to give you ten seconds to pick a non-Amestris destination, walk through that portal, and get the fuck out of my sight. And if I don't hear your seagull squawking laugh for the rest of my life, it'll be too goddamn soon."

Throughout the tirade, Wake made a clear effort to both use his height and his posturing to make it clear that he wasn't fooling around...at least, that's how clear it'd be to anyone who hadn't been on the opposite end of this exchange once before—hearing a suspiciously similar tone, used in a suspiciously similar situation. While he couldn't break character with witnesses either present or on the way, the cue would be clear:

Walk through the portal to somewhere else, make a costume change, and be welcomed back as a less conspicuous friend or colleague.

After all, Scratch wasn't about to turn down a play date with his dear friend Raven.

As for the real White Serpent...

Have fun exploring Amestris someday, Naga—I'm sure you'll be VERY popular with the brass!

Almost as soon as the sorceress stormed off through the portal to Who Knows And/Or Cares, Wake pulled his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.

"Vicki? It's Alan Wake. Got a story for you, but only if you can cut through the graveyard and meet me in Akibabla-whatever...the kind of story that'd win you a Pulitzer back home, that's what kind. One of the dark continents just spat out a gateway to a full-fledged nation. Circa 1930 by the looks of it, but with an arcane twist. I talked to the guy in charge and he's given me the green light to travel there. I want you to be my plus one."

The offer had a chilled reception, judging by how Wake began to pace the width of the portal's entry point.

"Yeah. Okay, I was a little harsh, but let's not kid ourselves: you would've done a hundred times worse if our roles were reversed...I do enjoy your work, why do you think we're talking right now?...because it was a low-blow and unprofessional—yes, ha ha, very funny. Now if we're done with the Roast of Alan Wake, can we get back to the subject? Are you gonna get the fuck over here or not?"

The Chief Adviser listened to the reply, pinched the bridge of his nose let out a burdensome sigh, and said in a defeated tone:

"I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I took it too far, and...you've got to be joking...I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. You do not de-serve to be spo-ken to that way and I have no in-ten-tion of spea-king to you that way a-gain. There. I said it. Happy now?...Good, then we're in business. Meet me here in 10. Fine, 20."

Wake hung up the phone with another deep sigh. He really shouldn't cry uncle so publicly; it'd mess with his charismatically masculine image. But then again, he knew she wouldn't have let him off the hook if he didn't roll over in a place with potential witnesses—and to her credit, he kind of deserved it this time. But as he glanced at the phone's screen, Wake couldn't help but chuckle at the conversation he'd just been dragged through.

Before anyone could see them, the words "Call Ended: Raven Darkholme" turned to black, and Mr. Scratch tucked his phone back in his pocket.

Nightingale - Akihabara Waterfront

"I don't. And I know it." singing was not her forte. So's hanging out, to relax. That how it always been. When Eugen asked her questions next, well...

It was easy. She need only say one word... But no, her patient deserves more.

"Always have an interest in medicine and nursing. Suppose you're right before, that it might've been a flight of fancy, or young me going against what's expected. But my interest in the field is genuine enough, to study and made contribution to be sent to the war front. Is that not how it sometimes is? One's passion suddenly overtaking themselves, dictating their entire lives?"

"... Crimea." she closes her eyes. "I'm a lady that knows nothing of war and conflict, beyond the newspaper headlines. Imagine her surprise when she came, looking over the hell that is the wartime clinic at the time."

"Unsanitary conditions. Diseases running rampant. Mortality rate beyond numbers. Antiquated regulations. In the face of all that... my body moved, and hadn't stopped since."

"That's your answer, Prinz Eugen. Passion guided me here. Hell made it my purpose to not look back." opening her eyes, she looked back at the warship-turned-woman. "... You broke free of your conflict, right? Then live your life to the fullest. Cherish it. Seeing a patient she knows alive, well and thriving on after putting their lives on the line..." a small smile. "There's no greater joy I can envision as a war nurse. That alone makes it worth it."

Fuhrer - Portal -> Log Horizon District

... A-hem.

That simple cough alone was enough to de-stress the situation, a subtle signal to Selim(to both turn away from the sight as Selim and take... notice of these two in the future, as Pride) and get the soldiers to not obstruct Naga any further.

"You have an interesting choice of allies with history, there." was all he said on the matter even as he completely ignore Naga's seductive provocation(and gets promptly turned away by the a-gasped soldiers on duty). "You've been cordial enough. And I'm not so blind and naive as to think that everyone here aren't sharks, not seeing our presence here as an opportunity. You'll have your talk."

At the request of an expert to talk to, he pocketed the given business card and waves his hand. "You may. The officers would know to expect and receive you." Notice that he only refers to you and not your other 'friend', Mr. Wake. With the carriage now following after the Theldesians, he bade goodbye to the Gotham Advisor.

Now it's just them two at the carriage.

At the walls and checkpoints, the Fuhrer finds himself in familiar territory. Suffice to say, impressions were made. At the forms, he obliged with a smile. King Bradley, Amestris Central City, Fuhrer, current time and all. Of his escorts, they mostly consists of Majors and Lieutenant Colonels. The carriages and cars, likewise, are free for their inspection. Beyond tools to repair said vehicles and a spare rifle, pistol or two(likely as backup weapons), there's nothing else.

Having now arrived at the embassy building(a modest thing), the Fuhrer got out after his driver opened up his door, looking about. "That was quite a tour.... Oh, and Selim," he gestured to his son. "I know better than to expect you to stay in one place. So yes, you can explore around while Papa's on important business." He placed his hand on his son's head. "Don't worry, it won't take too long. Promise."

Selim(a.k.a. Pride), you now have free reign to explore about the place, with a couple of armed escorts and a car to carry you around. Or you could stay around, to listen to his 'father''s business and other chatters in the shadows.

In other words, Pride is free to do as he sees fit, to learn more about the locals and this world as Father requested.

Amestris - Central City - Mr. Wake and Co.

After getting through appropriate channels and contacts, Mr. Wake and Vicki would find themselves in the transported capital of Amestris; known appropriately as Central City. As was the wont of a military state, there's a checkpoint to the portal from its end; patrol guards and entrenchment-emplacements looking as if it's in the middle of being made. Considering that the portal's the only bridge to other civilizations that doesn't require wading through who knows how many kilometers of land, it made sense for them to keep a tight watch over this chokepoint.

Thankfully after establishing contact and a message from the Fuhrer, travelers and such are allowed entry after a bit of scrutiny. For Mr. Wake and his entourages, they had already been expected; being flanked by a few other military types that gave instructions on who and where to meet.

The city life itself was... well, it's about what you can expect from a WWII-era city. Beyond the military police being all around and such, the civilians about are minding their own day, with radios and old-school cars becoming the norm at this time period. Unlike the downtrodden state of Gotham City in most of its streets, place here's downright peaceful and organized in comparison. Not miserable even, if Mr. Wake still were to draw parallel from this state to the infamous one that might have existed in his reality's history.

"Here it is. Residence of one of our State Alchemists." the Sergeant that was with Mr. Wake and the others spoke, gesturing to a fine enough house. "He can help you get acquainted with the concept of alchemy in our world, as per the Fuhrer's request. As Alchemists that have proven themselves and contributed through their experiments or military duties, they drive the research of our nation and are granted special privileges afforded by the state."

The nameplate in front of the residence marks the house to belong to one 'Shou Tucker'.

Dark Samus (Skies of Akihabara)

Having since left the waterside, the alien warrior Samus Aran has taken back to the skies, adrift and aimless for the time being. Without anything calling to her, or anyone to fight, there was...nothing. And that bothered her. Surely there had to be something for her to do...

Sonia (Fantasia)

Of course this would happen when she was around. Taking evasive maneuvers so she wouldn't get crushed, Sonia's next course of action was to get a good look at what exactly the Seafang was up against...and since it looked like the golem was attempting to swat the ship out of the air, it didn't look good for Wulfrick's vessel. Now if only there was a way up there...

Tawna (Kaibadome)

"You can call me Tawna. I do stuff like this for a living, you know, testing out vehicles and making sure they can handle what a pilot wants to do. It's what I live for, really." The bandicoot said, and given she'd spent enough time around here, she made to exit the simulation room. She really ought to check up on some of her clients...and a particular doctor who'd proven to be a right thorn in her side over the years...

Skies of Akihabara

"It's all so small when you look down on it, isn't it?"

A burst of light flashes nearby, and out of nowhere, Rosalina is floating near Dark Samus, her trusty Luma accompanying her.

"Cliché, I know, but so few people truly understand what it means. There's a whole galaxy out there to be had, and they fight over the scraps down here instead." She crosses her arms, tightening her lips as the floats closer.

"Of course, the question I have is what do you see when you gaze upon this planet?"

Akihabara Bay

"You do," she insists before letting Gale answer her, listening attentively.

"Crimea... I see." Prinz Eugen nodded, looking off over the water at the whale for a moment. "I spent most of my life in the frontlines of Eastern Europe - one of these lives, at least. It may have been two hundred years later, and ze tools of ze trade may have changed, but there are many things about ze price of war that do not change. Others may need to rely on their imaginations, never coming close to ze reality, but I have seen what it is like, I have been there myself, bled and drawn blood on ze very same soil. It is because of that I know just how strong your will must be to have seen all that, and sought to improve it, not even with gun or blade, but with your mind and your skill, and not back down."

With a sigh, she leans back, her arms behind her and fingers tightly gripping the hull as she grimaces.

"I spend my days as a merchant of death. It may be for those who need protection from those who wish them harm, it may be because no one on this accursed world is innocent, but that is still how it is. That is all I have ever known. And that is all I have ever thought of myself... for most years. That is why I like ze distractions. Ze moments where I can do something else. But if they become something more, are they distractions anymore, or are they... purpose? Are they what I live for?"

She bit down on her lip, and lurched forward slightly, putting her hands on Gale's knee and looking right into her face, nothing to distract her.

"Please. Have me. I know I can do so much more with these hands - and no, that is not some sex joke. I mean like you said. Being a war nurse. I already know war. I know it well. If you can be ze nurse, I can be ze war. But I can do it for something that matters. I have enough bodies, I can do my other work a dozen times over. I don't need that many to keep up my responsibilities and not make you risk angering a supplier for your hospital, or cut me off from my repair bay, but I am sure you could use them for greater purpose. One pair of hands, five, ten, even if it is just to clean ze floors, or guard you and your charges, or to drive ze goddamn ambulance, it will be for something worthwhile, no?"

Nightingale - Akihabara Waterfront

"Eugen. M16. You know me." the head nurse replied deadpan to her sincere request. "You've seen how I managed my hospital. How I expect the best from my staff since they'll be handling human lives. You know how strict I can be."

"So I expect much the same from you, that what you speak are not just empty words." And agreed to it. "Just because you're my ex-patient and shared a bed with me several times, I would be no less merciless. Prepare yourself."

Her steely gaze then turns less steely. "... It's not my business to show you what your purpose should be. I make for terrible company and am well-aware of that." Then shakes her head. "But if this is what you choose for yourself, then so be it."

Barry - Fantasia (Ground Level)

Oh damn, is that-?!

"Oh, Sweetcheeeeeeeks~!" came a *very* familiar voice to the vampire huntress named Sonia, voice belonging to none other than Barry the Chopper himself, equipped with his trademark laugh as he waved his cleaver enthusiastically!

"Gyahahahahaha! What are the odds! Been a while, eh? So, did ya miss me or did ya miss me?"

Even after all these years, he's still the same flirtatious murder-lovin' tin can as ever. That there's a giant fucking murder-bot beatin' the shit out of his only escape route still makes for poor excuse compared to catching up for old times sake, eh? 'Specially with a beaut like her!

Such is the inner workings of Barry's mind, prioritizing simple pleasure over practicality. A life not spent livin' to the fullest is a life not worth living!

"Ja! Of course, of course, of course, I would not expect less from you." Eugen exclaimed, and then lifted up her arms to wrap them around the head nurse's shoulders. "And I could not imagine things being any other way. You vill not regret anything, because I of course shall embody excellence and precision."

"It'll be better if I mention my new career face-to-face. This face, I mean. And... I think you'll have your hands full with one of me, already." The M16 body nods. And then vanishes, leaving just the ship there.

"And oh my, no no no, if anything, for that very reason, you can be far more extensive in your instruction with me than you could anyone else. Anything you show me, I can put into practice tenfold, so it is quite important for me to strive for perfection. Feel free to use any sort of punishment you wish with me." Eugen pouted slightly, and decided to sit down, taking advantage of the fact that Gale's lap was right there. "Speaking of sharing, it means you don't even need to bother assigning me a room, I'll simply use yours. Convenient, no?"

Dark Samus (Skies of Akihabara)

Eyes flicking to the burst of light, Samus pointed her hand at the new arrival, Phazon instinctively generating. Though unlike before, she had enough control over herself to simply keep it up as a cautionary measure, and once she saw the woman meant her no harm, she allowed it to sink back into her body.

"...I see her." She said slowly. "The part of me that fought, fights, to keep them safe. But even that part doesn't really belong."

Sonia (Fantasia)

Hearing a familiar voice, Sonia turned, and...

Oh. Him again. Lovely.

"Oh, yes. I missed you terribly." She deadpanned, trying her hardest to not look in his direction as her attention stayed on the Seafang and the golem assaulting it.

Nightingale - Akihabara Bay

Nightingale just gives a blank look at Eugen before consigning to the matter. Convenient, yes, for both the nurse and hers.

"You already have your own uniform and am accustomed to the our center's layout." the head nurse noted, quickly checking that off her checklist too. "You'll start effective tomorrow unless an emergency calls in. Make your preparations until then."

"But for today," seizing the opportunity with the botegirl sitting onto the nurse's lap, she leans in and give a quick peck at her cheek. A rare show of initiative from the Servant.

"You made me promise to not think about work and showing me how to relax. Unless you only wished it for this moment, we still have a full day's worth." In other words, until the hell that is Nightengale being an aloof and meticulous boss, the head nurse will be under the care of Prinz Eugen for the entirety of the day.
